We are now getting into the FUN stuff! Search Engine Optimization, also known as SEO!

You have your website in place and now you want to make it SEO ready so that search engines can find it. Our goal is to get ranked in the BIG 3 engines, Google, Bing & Yahoo. Do note that our focus is going to be primarily on Google though as they own over 65% of all search traffic, and over 95% of mobile searches.

But why do you want rankings in the search engines? Simple...

Website Rankings = Targeted Traffic = Revenue!

The rankings are the first step in creating an online revenue stream.

Today we are going to walk you through the set-up of a Wordpress plugin that is going to do a lot of the "dirty work" for you and will take care of the optimization of all your website pages/posts, meta tags, and other aspects that search engines look for when ranking your site.

I have created a "Setting Your Website Up for Search Engines" video walk-through of this training and please follow along as it will add a lot of clarity to how SEO works, but also how to install the All in One SEO plugin.

Task 1: Set-up All in One SEO on your site

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a very important aspect of any website's success.

In this task we are going to be setting up a plugin that makes our website code (the stuff behind the scenes of our website) friendly for search engines like Google so they can index and rank our sites properly. This is going to be very powerful for your website content getting ranked in search engines going forward, so DO NOT skip this task.

Since you activated the All in One SEO within the last lesson, you should see the "All in One SEO" item with your main menu now in your Wordpress back office. If you mouse over that menu icon, a sub menu will pop out (see below).

Simply click the "General Settings" link. This is where you will be going to set-up your SEO settings for your website.

The main section you are going to be updating here is the Home Page Settings section. There are two sections that you will be updating there:

  • Home Title - This is the title of your website that will show up when you get ranked in Google and other search engines. This won't actually show up on your site.

You want this to reflect the actual title of your website that you created with your site, but also add something to make it a bit more captivating.

Ideal Length: 40-60 characters, keep under 60
  • Home Description - This is a description of what your website is about and how it will benefit people. Don't overthink this part, you just want to be descriptive as to what your site is.

    Ideal Length: Under 160 characters

Although there are a TON of other settings, you are not going to need to update any of these at the moment, not for SEO purposes.

When you are done updating your Home Page Settings, scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click the "Update Options" button (as shown below).

Upon doing this, you are done. Your website is set-up and SEO READY! :)

A few important points things to take note of here about All in One SEO:

  • You DO NOT need to "Upgrade to Pro". The free version is more than adequate for your needs.
  • You won't see these changes to your actual site. The work is done behind the scenes within your websites HTML code. It is making your code friendly for search engines.

Awesome, your website is all set-up for SEO now! As you build out your new pages/posts, they will automatically be optimized for Google and other search engines. If you have any questions about the set-up process, leave them in the comments below and we will give you a hand.

In the next lesson we are going to be discussing KEYWORDS, the root of all of your rankings, traffic and success online.

In using Jaaxy to check keywords and compose a keywords list, I noticed when I wanted to delete just one keyword from the list that it deleted the whole list instead. Could this be remedied so there would a clear choice and appropriate outcome for either just deleting only the keywords checked off on the list or the entire list only if that is clearly indicated?

I have finished level 1 training and want to upgrade to Premium to continue to level 2 and just to see if it is sill good to run the business online. What if I want to stop my Premium membership? Will I go back to starter and all the benefits as Premium be blocked from my account if I do so?

Yes, that is what would happen I'm afraid. Listen, there are 3 Billion + people online now and 50% or more sales are made online with cell phones.

There has been no better time in our history for people like you and me to be able to communicate around the world.

Instead of having a little corner store in your neighborhood now you can literally market your products to the world.

1oo years ago, not so long really. Kings and Queens would have paid anything to have the information we now have at our fingertips.

Please, I just upgraded my account on July 3rd of this year. I have done marketing before and made money by myself. Now I have thousands of people that I can ask questions to.

I can have people check my website and give me advice. You can do this, my friend. Do not quit at all I hope, but at least give it some time to see if it is good for you.

You will never be able to build a business for this little bit of money? NEVER! Where? This is it, this is our golden opportunity.
Grab it with both hands and hang on.

I will see you at the top!

I think I know the answer to this, but because the way the training is structured, just want to make sure.

If my keywords meet the under 100 QSR, but have thousands of searches, I assume those are the keywords I want to use?

The training says on average 30, don't know if there is a point to that, I would think that you would want thousands of searches.

Thanks!
Reply
jamesprc Premium
If you find a keyword with under 100 QSR and thousands of searches, that is the ultimate jackpot of keyword research!

However, the common routine is to find low-competition keywords (which naturally have less traffic) and build up your website, one article after another.

One article alone won't make your website traffic explode... But ranking with dozens (or possibly hundreds) of articles, this builds up over time with each article bringing you more and more traffic.

Moreover, the more you start to rank for these keywords, you'll also attract more traffic from other, related keywords.

It has a compounding effect, which takes time. But it all starts with this keyword research, and going for what is also called "low hanging fruit".

Hope this helps.

If someone goes to say Amazon from the affiliate link on my website and they want to buy something (not the item that was on my website's link) that they can subscribe to, do I only get credit for the item that was on my link or whatever else they bought?
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
You get credit for anything the reader purchases -- not just your specific product -- as long as it is within the 24-hour cookie window that Amazon assigns to your link and they don't click on another affiliate's link in that time frame.

I believe that it is only for the item that they bought from your link. There are so many Amazon affiliates that you may also competing with other affiliates for people what may have the same products you have. Particularly the really popular products.

I have gone through lesson 8, and it's not matching your training site, such as no header within my widget, only footer, yet it perform the task showing my detain at the footer to the lower left of my site. Another thing, the theme from my Premium I cannot locate, I had an old WP before and that is what is showing up, how can I get out of that? Any help is appreciated.

Hi Elizabeth,
You can change themes by signing into your site through site manager and clicking on Appearance and then Themes. Once in Themes up top click on New and find any theme you want to try out and install that theme, once installed you need to activate.

Each theme will make your site look different and once you find the one you like you want to go back into your themes area and delete any themes you have installed but are no longer using.

Every theme will look different and the default theme for WordPress is the 2019 theme. If you have any other questions or need more help just ask and we will help you.

The Blogging is about attracting traffic to sell your affiliate products on your site. It is a free way to attract traffic, and you need traffic to buy stuff.
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
You don't "have" to blog to be an affiliate marketer. However, what you do have to have is a way to attract traffic. You can have all the links in the world, but if there is no one there to see them you still won't make a dime.

Blogging is a proven method of attracting traffic without spending thousands of dollars on advertising. People are constantly searching Google for information and answers to their questions. You are simply providing those answers. In return, you may have a product or service that would be helpful to that person, so you make a recommendation and add a link. When they make a purchase, you get paid.

I did see a post about getting rankings using YouTube videos related to your product.

I recommend you write at least a little. That’s how you gain traffic.

But if that’s not your area, maybe you can make videos based on what your niche is. Apparently Google indexing loves videos and it’s easier to get ranked

Hello from Nottingham!

So, have you actually applied to join the affiliate programme you want to use, and been approved? Or are you saying you can't find an affiliate program to match your niche?

If you have joined the program, it would be surprising that they don't have the links you need to add to your website. That is how they recognise that customers have come through your website, as they will have your ID embedded in them.
Reply
webcash2us Premium
Hi Tina,
There's many programs you can apply for and some will turn you down while others will let you have a chance to promote their products, but you only need one or two really.

Many of these programs deny people because of lack of experience and either no website or a site that has no traffic.
When you do find a program you will want to only have a few affiliate links on your page or post so as not to be marked as an affiliate spam site by the search engines.

I created a training about the different types of affiliate programs and you can check it out and Google any of them to sign up or you can select one from WA and try to sign up to any of them. Hope this helps.

On the off chance that your niche does not have a direct affiliate site, you can still become an affiliate to indirect websites. The example in the video is a pretty good one where the party football hats link up to Amazon. You can follow the concept. For example, if you want to make a cat website:
1) Well, it's not like you can get a kickback from selling someone a cat online.
2) Let's go indirect. Become an Amazon Affiliate and have a link to a scratching post that you really like.
3) After that. Think about a subject around cats. Do you want to extend the life of your cat? Perhaps there is someone who has an E-book on elderly cat care.

you first went to the snack helmets and showed the dallas cowboys and showed the rest of the pro teams. do you get a comission for any team? and then you went to body building products so you get a comission can you go to any web site that you can think of even tho it has nothing to do with any of the training products
Reply

These are examples of niches. You can create a site around any niche you choose. The choices are pretty much unlimited.
Reply

Yes, those would all be affiliate links. So regardless as to what someone purchased, you would get credit.

If someone goes to Amazon as well through your website, you get credit for anything in their shopping cart as long as they buy within 24 hours of clicking your links.

I have sold some really strange things over the years in my shopping cart. lol

If the website is WordPress, the support team here will transfer it for free. You do need to be a Premium member to do that though.

As a side note: I highly recommend not waiting to "launch" a website. It can delay your progress getting indexed and ranked. Launch ASAP, and fix things as you grow. That's my advice :)

Hi everyone! From all these videos i've watched i've been asking myself if the niche is the title or the domain of the website? like when kyle put basketball skills and drills? is that niche or is it just somewhat related to his niche? Your comments and reply are highly appreciated!

it is related to his niche.
so if your niche is helping people improve their golf swing then your website could be any name...even your own, but could contain a keyword.
the content will define your site and niche rather than the site or domain name.
good luck

It's not so important any more. In the "old" days of the internet sites that had long niche related domains were seen as a good thing, but that started to lead to ridiculous site addresses such as "TheBestAndCheapestPlaceOnEarthToBuyMotorcyclesBakingPansAndSunglasses.com" As you can tell, it got out of hand quickly. lol

Google and the rest of the search engines are MUCH more sophisticated now and sites like that no longer have an advantage. Indeed, they may even be penalized depending on the circumstances.

You basically have two choices.

1) Make it somewhat related, but only to the extent your potential audience has a rough idea of what it is (e.g. GreatPhotography.com).

2) Come up with a domain name that has nothing to do with anything, but is unique can can eventually be branded. For example, before they came along, did you even know what a "Google" was?

Hope this helps :-)

So I'm in the early stages of developing my niche site currently and it dawned on me that there was something in the first training module that stood out. Specifically where it was stated that it was better to build your site using posts instead of pages.. Now I can't seem to find this anywhere when I go back to look for it.(i might just be crazy) Could someone maybe shed some light on this for me? Should I be creating my content as posts instead of pages and why?
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
That is correct. Think of pages as something that you don't intend on changing very often, if ever. Thus, common pages would be About, Privacy, Resources, etc.

But for the best results in ongoing content you will want them to be posts so your home page displays all the most recent and relevant content that your readers may be interested in. In other words, the content is more dynamic and changes often (which is a good thing).

Hope this helps :-)

Hello,
On your training video "Creating Custom Menus on Your Website" you discuss widgets. And you show how to add a widget. What was not discussed is how to remove the "about me" and other top level items from the bottom of the new widget as they are redundant. Can you help. What about adding an actual page? (If not covered later in the training) Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Chett,
You can remove menu items by signing into your site and on the left select Appearance and then Menu, once in Menu you will select the items from any Menu and remove or add as needed.

This will remove any page from a menu, but the page will still exist on your site.

If you want the page gone as well, than after you remove the page off of the menu, you will need to go to pages and hover over the title to reveal options, in the options you would select Trash to discard the page all together.

csalzman Premium
Thanks for the response. What I have in that location are only the top navigation items, not the new widget I created on the right of my webpage. I created a widget (seems to be a disconnect in my way of look at this between menu item and widget) This widget is on the right navigation menu called "Cool Stuff for Kids" and the "About Me" and "Privacy Policy" is under that which is what I want removed. Kyle did not go into specifics yet in his training course. Any help appreciated.
Reply
webcash2us Premium
That's sounds like a side widget you created. Go into Appearance and click on Widgets and look for the side Widget and find the items you want removed and delete them. If you don't find them there then they would be in the Menu area under Appearance. When you find the one you want removed click on the item as so it opens and there you should see the delete option.

Thanks.

What's weird is that those duplicated items are not listed in the widgets area under the widget I created or in the menus. Actually in the menus area that widget is not even there just the top navigation items.

Hi guys!, this will be my 1st time & 1st website so
I decided my niche to be somewhere around gaming reviews, gaming computers, computer parts & accessories also along with it on the side some mobile gaming, mobile phones and accessories. Are they too much for my 1st website? should I only for now focus say gaming reviews? or mobile gaming?
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - yes, you have chosen far too many subjects, targeting different audiences. You need to narrow it down, so as not to confuse your visitors, plus you wish to be seen as an authority in your niche.
Reply
webcash2us Premium
The niche is over all too broad, I would narrow it down to which ever you like the most as you will be creating a lot of content for that site.

Most generally a review site is great for a niche site and you should play the games you review. On that gaming review site you could do a review of two gaming computers aside from the reviews of the games.

You just don't want a site that's all over the place, you won't have that many affiliate links on the site to be able to offer everything you have listed.

That's considered an affiliate spam site in every search engine. Stick to 2 or 3 affiliate links at most and make certain they are relevant to the subject of the page or post and you should be okay.
Reply
Sheris4U Premium
I would focus on one thing. I did on line jobs for students. Org and have afree nitches in there. It will probably take longer to get your business going. Maybe start with Mobile phones writing reviews, comparing and. After you get going with your phones you could show an advertisement (banner for a game than when someone clicks on it it could take then to awhole page on gaming which is a landing page then when they see something they like and click on it it will take them to where they can buy it. Reviews really help.

I would stay a review with the Note 9 Comparing it to S10 then at the end they could click on to buy either one

When I think of affiliate marketing, I was imagining a blog for my interest in home goods/decor (physical products). However, I've also always wanted to start a blog on mental health and write advice posts and ideas. I don't see how affiliate marketing can play a role in this sort of blog. Am I correct to assume affiliate marketing only applies to blogs related to physical products?

Affiliate marketing is the process of promoting other peoples products/services (whether they be digital or physical) in return for commissions.

Yes, I guess it does relate to physical products.
So what kind of products would you think could help someone with mental health?
eg. Relaxation - has a huge range of products.

I would start with one niche at a time, and choose the one that you are most passionate about.

Once you have one niche (website) up and running how you want, then you can make another one.

In the video, you show that a comment window shows up at the end of the privacy policy statement, but in your written explanation you state that we choose a page format as opposed to a post format for privacy policies because that format doesn't allow for comments. This is a little confusing because if the Page format doesn't allow for comments then it shouldn't even provide a comment box at all.
Reply
webcash2us Premium
Do not worry about the comment box on any privacy page. No one ever leaves comments on a privacy page and even if they did all comments must get your approval before allowing the comment to be published, so it's not a big deal.

You can turn off allowing comments on any page, but if you leave that feature on it really doesn't matter.

You should publish your privacy policy as a page, not as a post, the same applies to your Affiliate Disclosure.

I also publish my About as a page and not a post because as a page these 3 can be added to any menu you create.

Hope this helps.

Hello again! As a starter member, you are given 2 websites to work on for up to 6 months. However, they will end with the name SiteRubix.com. They are known as subdomains and are not actually your property.

If you want a domain that just ends in .com, which is globally recognised and looks more authoritative, then you have to pay for it. This costs around $13.99 per year, but is yours to keep, even if you decide to leave WA.

Also, bear in mind, you need to upgrade to premium to have a purchased domain hosted here.

As a beginner, I suggest you just start with using a free site.

Hi - your mentor is Vitaliy, he has been giving you advice on your profile page.

Just follow the training step by step, and complete each task as you are asked to do so. That way, you will have built your website by the end of lesson 4.

If you have any specific questions, any of us will be happy to help.

Hi I found when Kyle explained in the video about the Private Poilcy mine came up with the heading "WHO ARE WE"
The content was alot different to Kyles video.
At the bottom we were to tick to blocks
NOINDEX this page, or NOFOLLOW this page.
But this did not show.

Can you help me.
Thanks.

If I understand you correctly, it sounds like you might have chosen the template for the About Me page instead of the Privacy Policy.

The no index and no follow options come up in the wordpress edit screen once the document has been published.

Here is the link specifically for the privacy policy training again: Hope that helps, Shannon

Looking for help choosing the best niche! I'm a stay at home mom and home schooling our two children. I love to cook, so I was thinking about going in that direction, though very broad. I also thought I might tie in home school things, but the two don't really mesh well. Any advice?
Reply
JKulk1 Premium
They sound like two good niches. With the home schooling could you access training schemes where you get paid a commission. If so this one sounds great. Cooking is a bit more difficult and you would have to be more specific. For example something like "Southern Recipes" or "Home cooking in the USA" etc., Jim

Hi there! It could have been me writing message 🙂
If you’re going to go homeschooling, perhaps go with a specific age group or method. With homeschooling the possibilities are endless from offering printable‘s to curriculums and more how to’s. I started a local play date homeschool group as there are many homeschoolers in my area but nothing social for the kids To interact with each other.

In regards to cooking, do you have a specific interest? For example my daughter is an extremely picky eater but we are also gluten-free so I’ve had a hard time finding sources of inspiration that applies to us specifically 🙂

Good luck brainstorming 👍🏼

Hi Heidi,

You don't want to mix niches, those are indeed two niches you can go into.

You also want to start with only one niche.

Cooking niche will be way a way better niche to go into than homeschooling because there are way more people in a cooking niche.

But Jim (JKulk1) said above, if you can find a home schooling program where you can earn a commission from getting people to sign up for, this can be a viable niche as well.

If you do cooking, you do need to narrow down your niche like "vegan cooking" or "cooking for beginners" or something more specific.

You need to start narrow, but you don't need to stay narrow.

You want to start narrow so you can break into that niche easier and focus your efforts into helping a specific group of people.

Then, as your site grows and gains more authority, you can then branch out more into different areas of cooking you want to expand on.

I hope this helps you,
Grace

Most people stick themselves in a box afraid to come out in the world. They have fear of being unsuccessful and some have the fear of success. they ask themselves what happens if I can not do this? I have found that making a dream board helps. A dreamboard is just a list or few pictures you put on your wall where you will see it everyday. You can add or subtract from this list at any time but it helps you to keep reaching for those goals. No one has to do this but I use it and it helps me stay motivated. So the idea is here, anyone is more than welcome to try it. If you do I would be really interested in knowing how it worked for you. Good luck in you journeys.

I have not been able to specify my niche. I want to achieve a niche that has to do with the elderly. Specifically that they can use social networks and the computer/smartpgone to communicate with their families, with their friends and in general with the world around them, in order to improve their life. My ideal client would be everyone between 65 and 100 years old. I need help in this approach.
Reply
webcash2us Premium
That may be a tough niche as there's many social platforms that already allow anyone of any age to communicate with anyone.

In fact AARP often has articles in their newsletter and magazine that relate to that subject as does the official AARP phone service that is Consumer Cellular.

You can maybe do a how to blog teaching the elderly how to do certain tasks that their phones and computers allow them to do.

You could maybe find hidden benefits that are available for people over 65 but you will need to be Country specific as every Country has their own rules and laws regarding people over 65 years old.

well the domains socialmediafortheover60s and socialmediafortheover70s are still available - so if you wanted to do something with them.
but how do you get the over 60s and over 70s online if they are not already?
it would be an interesting niche to see if it would work.
good luck with it.

A lot of that population want to learn the tech but it can be really overwhelming (experience with my own family)

That is because it is likely within the published tab. If you are on the SiteContent dashboard the unpublished tab may be selected, thus just showing the one.

Could that be the case here?

I'm not sure. I'm confused. Anyway I just do some correction of the contents by copy & paste & re-create new contents to fix it at the right place and make sure my contents on the 2 website are the right contents.

But I have a question. If I make any edition to a published content, will it be update too in the content under the Site Content dashboard?

Well we can definitely help you establish yourself as an authority/expert within this space. I have spent some time breaking down the process in the most simplistic way possible. Success online is at the core a 4 step process and I have broken them down within this video: Broken, down, the process looks like this:

Step 1: Choose your niche
Step 2: Build your website/content
Step 3: Get rankings in search engines (leads to traffic)
Step 4: Monetize your traffic (the make money part, through affiliate programs, your product, etc!)

This applies in absolutely every niche and as you work through the training here at WA, you are going to be walked through this exact process. This is fundamental for ANY success online.

If you have any further questions let me know Val. :)

I've chosen my Niche and it is Hair Health. Pedamis Humanis is a huge problem in NZ and possibly around the world. I do have a lot of knowledge on this subject and I'm passionate about helping people to deal with it. There are a quite few products available on the market but I'm sure I can fit myself in. I use natural and organic material in my product but a lot of the problem comes from lack of knowledge so in the first instance it's about education.

Is personal development too broad of a niche?

I have visions of a website called self improvement movement, (I've already started it, but am starting it again with WA guidance) within my blog posts will be more specific niche products like water filers, dehydrators and juicers. Along with these posts I will be sharing self love techniques and aspire to create my own online course one day...

I think personal development is a great niche. I think maybe try to have a target audience, millennial’s versus baby boomers, moms versus students, that sort of thing

Everyone can benefit from personal development techniques but perhaps some work better for certain populations than others

Is there a specific genre with in personal development that you like the most? Is there a method that you follow in particular ?

Mindset work is also one of my favs, it's pretty powerful to change you're beliefs around things, money for example. I grew up in a 7 kid house hold, single mum on benefits.
To change my mindset from money scarcity to money abundance has taken time and I'm abundant in money yet, but opportunities are starting to open up for me as I visualise daily my life in abundance in 6 months time :)

Frankly, any niche can be a successful one and in this instance, you've likely already answered your own question, as all answers are within!

It sounds like a wonderful niche --- in building on-line success, it's vital to keep your audience in mind --- who are you writing for and what are their interests? .... a niche is one that you can blog about in-depth, deeply, and extensively over a period of time in becoming the 'authority' ....

You've got some super ideas to work with and to achieve --- keep your dreams, hopes and aspirations UP and Alive!

Hello there, you have some really great ideas, I however think for now you should choose one topic to work with as your niche, based on this comment ☝🏻 You have 3 websites ( 3 niches) its ok to build a lifestyle blog but the problem with that is you will not become an authority in any niche because you will be covering everything within one website.
Articles about nutrition, yoga, meditation, healthy eating, money mindset.

Your readers will be confused and the search engines will have a hard time determining where to rank your website.

I say, take you time and decide which niche you want to be an authority in, and start with that.

I would love some input especially from women/moms.
For my niche I would love to focus on mompreneurs/stay at home moms/single moms trying to do it all, being a good mom, increase income, etc. Not sure how to focus down more though. I also was thinking about something related to positive parenting style but not sure.

Before Lesson 1: 3 of 10. I was thinking of doing a niche on dog-related products. But, after watching the video on choosing a direction. My passion is actually more towards skincare. There are so many products in skincare and since that is the case. Would face mask be a good niche? Cause I know there are electronic products and face mask you can wear overnight which most people don't know about. Normally people will find a mask that is washed off after 15-25 mins of use but there are more than those type of mask that people just don't know about. Also based on skin type, there are many types of different mask for dry skin, oily skin, sensitive skin, etc. And should eye mask be part of the face mask? My mind is blown. How should I go on with this niche? There's so much I can talk about when it comes to skincare.
Reply
Oh I love to see how you’re exploring different topics and even changing. I agree try to do something less well known. Face masks is super common but the stuff you mentioned maybe not. I think it can be pretty overwhelming deciding on a direction. Maybe write a bunch of stuff down to get it out of your head and on paper and see where it leads to. Do you keep writing about a specific genre such as DIY? New products ? More equipment type ?
My sister is all into skincare and beauty and always following the latest trends. She is now incorporating the jade facial roller into her daily routine. So the potential is there but need to somehow narrow it down. Are you targeting a specific age group ? Millennial v baby boomer for example. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

I tend to like to do research and read multiple reviews, see what works for most people including myself. I'm more into anti-aging skincare. Especially since you should be starting skincare at least age 19, it's best to start early and maintain. Shouldn't be using harsh products, since there are many exfoliatins that are more gentle on the skin. I think it's more like I enjoy sharing my research with others. I've tried some of the products that I've researched but there's so much to try that I only try the news ones I find, after finishing up my old ones. A lot of the products I've researched have great reviews. But I can't try them all. Honestly though when it comes to skincare, I actually love helping people find products for their skin type.

Also, I wouldn't say equipment type but more of a device you use at home. Depending on your skin problem, the LED mask has different photon light you use to target different problems for your skin. I never used the mask but the LED light therapy works, I've used a handheld version for acne/pimples before.

Also, did you know once you've done your facial routine at night? You're only supposed to rinse your face with water in the morning and then apply your normal routine starting from with the toner? But it makes sense to me that it's how it should be, especially after learning that from my Korean friend that watched a Korean TV on famous K-pop stars. Their parents were the ones who taught them that. And I'm sure not a lot of people know this but it works really well because it helped with my eczema. I wasn't striping off my naturals oils day and night but only at night because of the outdoor and the pollution etc. But you're not outdoors in the middle of the night so there's no need to cleanse your face in the morning but you should rinse before reapplying your normal routine.

I feel like I'm making my niche complicated. Any specific ideas?
Reply
I can relate when you say research. I’m the research queen when it comes to anything baby related haha.

People don’t always have the time to research. I didn’t realize that for a while. Someone will ask me a question and I’ll answer surprised they didn’t about that Product or service etc. I’m thinking to myself, that person didn’t spend 5 hours looking up the best toddler toothpaste or the best baby wipes? 😀

People are very successful with review blogs and it seems like you are passionate and knowledgeable. You could do reviews on specific products, reviews comparing Product A and product B, reviews on products that many people use but maybe aren’t the best or healthiest and explaining why.

My sister was using a cream and I was reading the ingredients and told her hello! This is so bad for you. She said really? It supposed to be a great product. So people assume if it’s labeled “good” “natural” then it is but they don’t have the time to really educate themselves and do their own research.
Videos work really well with this sort of thing. Not that you have to show your face if your a private person but having video product reviews I find can be easier for a person looking. So maybe you could incorporate written and video reviews.

Even bringing Eastern practices such as Korean, Japanese etc as you mentioned to the regular everyday person in the West (US, UK) is a great niche. Their beauty and skincare routines or “secrets”.

I think I rambled a bit Sorry 🙂
Reply
Elene86 Premium
It's fine to ramble. I know Korean and Japanese skincare weight heavily on healthy skin and Asian skin tends to be more sensitive but then again I feel like everyone should use the gentler products because I've used CVS products when I was younger and some of those drug store skincare was pretty harsh. Of course, I learn the hard way after my skin becoming more sensitive leading to my eczema, it was weeping eczema on my cheeks. My eczema was really bad but a lot better now though. Can't tell I've ever had it. And I do have those photos which made people surprised.
Reply
That’s pretty impressive! Seems like through experience you are an expert on healing your skin from issues such as eczema with alternative beauty products and routines inspired by Korean and other Asian trends.

Hi - before you even think about making money, a couple of things need to happen. First of all, your site needs to be found by Google. This is called indexing and can take anything from a couple of days to a couple of weeks. You will get an email when it happens.

Plus, now you have built your website, you need to add lots of content to it. You actually have to apply to join affiliate programs such as Amazon, and they will inspect your website before they approve you.

How do you know if your niche is too broad? Can you do one website like sportsequipment.whatever and then narrow down with categories like baseball, basketball, and football - then narrow down more for each category? Or should you make one website that is about baseball cleats and another about football helmets, etc.

Basically can you be successful having an umbrella site with a bunch of smaller niches instead of creating a bunch of individual websites?

Hello WA Community. I've been away for a while because of day job issues and some health matters. Anyhow, I have kept up my WA membership, and just renewed for 6 months.

My concern is this, and I invite any insights or suggestions:

I really want to get into affiliate marketing, and I have not found any learning or support platform better than WA.

I already have several potentially beneficial affiliate programs that I wish to promote, all of which are product-based and I think offer value.

I realize I need more training to be able to maximize any potential with the affiliate marketing that I have. I started with the WA Boot Camp because I couldn't actually define a specific niche.

I have just returned to the OEC training because I feel that I should learn all I can about online marketing and affiliate marketing so I can in fact maximize the potential of my existing affiliate programs. I can also continue with my WA affiliate marketing also.

Any feedback or suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks . . .

Just getting started here, so this is probably a dumb question. I've heard various things and was hoping to gain more insight. Particularly, is it true that affiliate marketing is something more suitable to get into AFTER you've established a blog, have been regularly producing content it, and have gained some followers?

I wasn't sure if I should go for Premium, if I end up struggling for a long time just learning to build a blog, creating enough content, and getting followers. Or is this blogging aspect what the training on WA will be helping with?

I guess my question is, while WA provides affiliate marketing training, am I correct to assume that this means it will teach blogging and that blogging is a given/obvious part of affiliate marketing?

You are absolutely right, blogging is the most important part of any website. Before being able to do any business on the internet, you will need to attract an audience. The way to do that, teaches WA, is through Search Engine Optimization (SEO). This will consist of many things, but blogging is at the foremost part of it.

Blogging is pieces of content that you provide for your followers to read so they can be informed about the subject of your choice (niche)

It’s just a conversation you will have to gain authority. Why would people follow you? Because you have information that they are seeking.

WA doesn’t teach you how to blog because you will have to talk to your own audience. There is no clear cut way to do that

However you will be taught how to present the information to your audience and how to construct your site to make it more appealing to visitors.

Best of luck

I actually want to create a website to put everything in related to yoga together under one roof. To help people to be able to find everything in related to yoga on one website only. Is this a good idea? Or too many things on one website? Pls advise. Thanks!
Reply

Are you talking about yoga workout clothing, equipment, or the various exercises for certain age groups; the best exercises for certain conditions, etc. Since the yoga category is so broad, you probably want to make some distinctions. Try asking yourself what it is you really want to help people with. Maybe that will help you narrow your niche a little more.

The training advises you to make your niche narrow but I chose not to and I have read some successful blogs about having a wide niche. I guess it will depend on long term website goals you have which sound to me like its all about Yoga for you, which is fantastic.
I say go for it.
While you are doing your training only focus on one part of the Yoga niche as suggested by adreyna.
Eventually, your site will grow and be all about Yoga or you can have multiple sites for each niche in Yoga

Hi
Sorry, you can't change your domain name.
You have to purchase another and start again no matter if you are premium or not.
I did this early on.
You then copy and paste from the old site to new.
Premium will give you access to more training and other fantastic opportunities.
I suggest changing now before you get too far ahead.

But I believe if Puerto Rican now more about these opportunities ( online business, could be great for them. It's really hard work to educate them about it . As they really have no trust in online business. my question is... Do you think it's a good idea to educate and try to make that my niche?

Anything you are passionate about will be a great niche.
Helping Spanish people make money online sounds like a great idea.
So your niche would be Making Money Online
What you write in your website content can then be directed to the people you want to share with

Hi Joseph,
Though this might be of help to you, this coming Friday the live training by Jay is going to be about creating a convincing About Me page which you can register to watch here...> It sounds like your About Joe is a post and not a page, if you have nothing on your home page than chances are the most recent post content will show up on your home page.

Chances are your static settings are not set and that is by default, because when you set your home page to static it will only show the page you want and not the latest post.

You can delete any page or post and redo any of the pages or posts you want. You can also go back into site content writer and find the last saved revision and re-post that as a page instead of a post. When you do that you need to go back after and delete the original page or post that you don't want as you do not want duplicate content on your site.

You can use the templets provided in site content writer and do another privacy policy at any time you want. When you want to delete a page or post sign into your site and on the left select pages or posts depending and find the page or post you intend to delete. Hover your mouse over the title and you will see edit and delete appear, select which you want and you're ready to delete.

Hope this helps and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

On my website, which is only a week old with a couple posts, the whole posts (about me, and another, and privacy policy) is showing up in full on my first page. I notice on a lot of websites there is a short summary of each one and you can click read more to see the whole article. How do you accomplish that. Truncating each article?
Thanks,

That's called an excerpt - some themes by default show the full content instead (which sounds like what might be happening). To override this if you're dead set on the theme you can use what's called a more tag, and you can find details on that here: https://www.wpbeginner.com/glossary/excerpt/

Hi spencer
It's always best to do a site backup before making any theme changes (in fact, it's best to back up regularly anyway).
I changed themes and discovered the hard way that my site was no longer connected to Google analytics so it looked like my traffic came to a grinding halt, was very distressing. So just check you are still connected after you've changed your theme, if you choose to do that of course.

Reply

Hi. The text for the privacy policy can be found if you go to site content, as explained in the training. You should find the template in there. You could use a Gmail address so I would recommend creating a domain specific one for your site. If you go through the training step-by-step it will explain how to do that. You can always set up a forward so that the emails go to a Gmail Account, though it’s probably best not to be putting your personal email on your website so you don’t get lots of messages that you don’t want! All the best

Most of the time, when you see a theme demo, it's been dressed up to show what you can accomplish with the theme. Sadly, it usually doesn't look that way upon installation.

Depending on the theme, you might be able to download the demo content. You can then customize and swap out various aspects with your own design/content.

If i make my website on a free domain does that mean that it won't be mine and it'll be party of wealthy affiliate, will they get some of my commission... Or will i get any at all? Do i need to build on my own domain for my website to be "real" and "my own" as such?

Hi Amelia, welcome to WA.
you are correct that building your site on the free domain means that you don't own it and cannot transfer it.
but wa do not get any of your commissions - they are all yours.
if you decide to purchace a domain then you can easily transfer all of your work onto your new domain and this can then be transferred to a new hosting in the event that you decide to leave.
but start out on a free site until you decide that the niche you have chosen is the right one for you and research your domain name - don't rush into it.
good luck on your online journey
phil

DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - your website built on a free domain will be "real" and live on the internet. Any commission you earn, you keep in full.

However, it will be a subdomain, which means that it is not your property, and cannot be taken away from Wealthy Affiliate and hosted elsewhere.

Plus, you can only work on it for 6 months, unless you upgrade to premium.
Reply
Hello, I am new to WA and would like to ask if I go through all the training and create websites with affiliate offers, am I correct in the assumption that as I will be paying for WordPress and the domain name I will own these independently or will the sites be affiliated with WA?
Reply

You own any domain which you purchase, whether you are in WA or even if you leave WA
Reply
feigner Premium
Hi Lisa, welcome to WA.
if you go premium and purchase domains and host them here then you own them ( for the time you pay for the yearly subscription)
you don't pay for wordpress - it is a free content management system loaded onto your domain.
if you decide to leave WA you can transfer your domains and all of the content to another hosting company easily.
you can think of wa as hosting with free training or training with free hosting..oh...and a keyword tool thrown in for free.
the community help is almost worth the monthly ( or yearly fee)
wa does not add anything to your site, so any affiliate fees are all yours, nothing is kept by wa.
good luck

Hi. I'm trying to choose a website template. My question is if say I choose one of the website template as a Starter membership. Later down the road I upgrade to Premium Membership, can I change the website template? If yes, do I have to re-do everything which I have done on the old template? Another question is if I have upgrade to Premium membership and choose one of the website template and later down the road I cannot afford to pay the Premium membership for one of the month, what will happen to my website? Please advise. Thanks.
Reply
SirTristan Premium
I'll answer the first part. As Premium you have access to hundreds (thousands maybe?) of templates. Wordpress makes it easy to try different templates. You can preview them without even publishing.

I strongly encourage you to try a bunch. I think I tried about 10 before I found one I was happy with.

You have to look in detail at each one. For example, one looked great but didn't display bullets properly (bulleted list).

You might try a template for a month and discover you're not happy. It's no problem with using the free ones.
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - as a starter member, you have a limited choice of themes (templates). If you were to upgrade to premium, you have a choice of over 7000, and you can change them at any time. Changing your theme shouldn't disturb your content, but it may be advisable to take a back-up of your site, just in case.

Once you have upgraded to premium, if you then cancel or can't pay, you can't go back to being a free member again.

If you are using a purchased .com domain, you are given 30 days to move it to another hosting provider, otherwise, it becomes dormant. You wouldn't be able to work on it, and it wouldn't be visible on the internet.

If you are using one of the free SiteRubix websites, they are not your property, and cannot be moved away from this platform, and will be deleted at some point.

Thanks for ur advise. So if I choose the free one now and build my website. In future I upgrade to Premium, I can change the website template without re-do my website?

Thanks for answering my questions. So once I'm a Premium membership, I cannot down grade to Starter? And then go back to Premium again when I can afford to pay that particular month? Why I ask is because I cannot commit I can pay every month due to my current situation.
Reply
janetng Premium
Hi. Another question is you mention can change theme anytime without disturb the content but advise to backup the site first. What if I choose one of the free themes to build my website first, can I still change the theme when I upgrade to Premium membership? As for the backup, will WA do for me or I have to do it myself? Pls advise. Thanks.
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - no, you can't downgrade to starter, meaning if you can't pay, you lose all access to Wealthy Affiliate and can't work on your website.

However, you can leave for up to 6 months, and then once you pay your subscription again, everything will be as you left it.

Just be aware, that for any months you haven't paid for, your website won't be on the internet.

As regards themes, yes, you can change it when you upgrade. You can get a WordPress plugin which will do a back-up for you.

A question about the importance of the domain name in getting ranked in google, bing & yahoo: does it make a big difference what the name of my site is? For example, if I am writing about and recommending weight loss products, do I have to name my website something like 'how to lose bellyfat?', or can I call it by a name that will be my brand name e.g. 'sallyjacobs' for example.

Hope that question makes sense! Would appreciate any insight from anyone who has been able to attain a high website ranking. Many thanks!
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
Not really.

When Google first started this was one of the criteria they ranked for, but their algorithm is much more sophisticated now and they don't even bother.

You should name it something that seems at least somewhat related to what you are doing so as not to confuse your audience, but the days of naming a site something like "thisismydomainbecauseitisexactlywhatIamselling.com" are long gone.

Hope this helped.
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - it is not your website as a whole which gets ranked in the search engines, it is each individual post. You could have one post on page 1, and another buried on page 50! Therefore, your domain name can either relate to your niche or be your chosen brand name.

Hi Susan - are you sure you are on the right platform, and not mixed up with another program?

Here, at Wealthy Affiliate, there is no time limit to the free trial, certainly not 30 days. You can stay as a free member as long as you wish. Plus, you have access to the first 10 lessons, you don't need an email invitation to do them.

You have left this comment in lesson 1. If you have checked off the 3 tasks which you were given, you then click the blue button marked Next Lesson. Then in lesson 2, you check off the 4 tasks there and click next to move on to lesson 3 etc.

This is a legitimate platform which teaches you how to build a professional website step by step, ready for affiliate marketing. And if you continue with the training, you will have built your website by the end of lesson 4.

So as I am reading the comments on the thread, I will try and give an example on how to promote your content. With your niche, try to write something related to that product. For example, I love sports, and I watch a lot of sports. So with that being said, I will write about upcoming games and previews. I will affiliate with different sporting apparel companies and have a link to that product. Not only you will drive site traffic, but people will see the ads on your blog and click to the products. Is my example correct?
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - yes, but not all articles should be written with the intention being to promote a product. Some of them should be purely informational, otherwise, Google will see your website as a "spammy" selling site, and not rank it highly.
Reply
damecranon Premium
Ok, so the idea is to write articles about the topic you want to discuss. For example, if I write about the Super Bowl locations, it should be more information about the location?

Hi - yes, and within that content, you could perhaps say "my favorite team won here in 1964" and make that an internal link to lead potential customers to a review page where you have affiliate links and products.

That way, you keep your info posts separate to your product posts, and as a bonus, Google likes to see internal links.
