How Will YOU Make Money Online?

Great question!

The reality is that there are many ways to make money online! The problem is that people often get distracted by the "latest and greatest" product or service and they are never able to build a successful (and revenue generating) business as a result.

Today I am going to run you through one of the most fundamental, yet powerful processes of generating revenue online.

It is a proven process, it is one that we use, and one that 100,000's of other Wealthy Affiliate members use. It is also the ultimate "making money" process that worked 5 years ago and it is going to work 5 years from now (and beyond). It is a process that will reveal as much opportunity in the massive online world as you are willing to work for!

It is called Affiliate Marketing.

But, just one thing before you get into the MONEY "stuff"...

The making money part of your business won't happen quite yet.

Before you earn money, you are going to first be focusing on creating your niche website (which will take place in the next two lessons) and are working to get traffic to your website. Without a website, without content, and without traffic, the MONEY part simply doesn't happen.

So don't look at this like a race. You will reach success and a great deal of it, but before you build your own personal SKYSCRAPER of a business, you must first have a solid FOUNDATION to build it on. That is going to be our first goal within the Getting Started training. Cool?

Alright, let's continue on! :)

Below is a video walk-through of today's lesson and the process of "How to Make Money Online - The Process Explained". Just click the PLAY button to watch it!

In the coming days you are going to be working through this process and by the end of this Level 1 training alone, you are going to have an awesome foundation in place that will lead you to much greater success.

Task #1: Understand the Make Money Process

There are MANY different ways that you can earn money online and many different ways in which you can build an entire business. The most lucrative and the one that we have been teaching here at Wealthy Affiliate for the past 14 years is Affiliate Marketing.

Below is a diagram outlining the process of making money through affiliate marketing.

There are now over 4 BILLION people online as of 2019 (YOUR audience) and these people are going to search engines, social media, or visiting websites for help all the time.

These people are looking for information, solutions to problems and to buy stuff.

That is where you are going to come in with your website and help these "audiences" by offering them information about what they are looking for. You will be "helping" these people, recommending products/services they can benefit from, and you earn affiliate commissions ($$) as a result.

There are over 550 MILLION products/services that you can promote as an affiliate marketer. The opportunity is incredible and it is only growing!

By Lesson 4 of this course you are going to have your very own "niche" website in place that you will use to connect with your chosen audience and make money with. You will have your very own slice of the internet opportunity.

Task #2: Create (Write Down) Your Financial Goals

You want to earn revenue right? That is great! In order to earn anything however, you need to have some goals in place.

In this task we want you to join in on a "money goals" discussion here at Wealthy Affiliate. You are going to be telling us what your goals are and going forward, we are going to be helping you achieve these very goals!

QUESTION #1: How much money would you be happy earning?

QUESTION #2: How much would you be ecstatic (ie, really excited) earning?

QUESTION #3: And how much TIME are you willing to invest to achieve these goals?

PLEASE make 100% sure that you do not skip this step and you revisit this post regularly when you are in need of some motivation. I can absolutely assure you that if you work hard at this and you are persistent towards these goals, you will achieve them. But ultimately it is UP TO YOU!

JOIN DI$CU$ION: What Are Your "Money" Goals?

In addition to this, it would be wonderful if you commented on someone else's goals they have posted within this thread. Aim to comment on at least TWO people's goals. You likely can network with many other "like minded" people here at Wealthy Affiliate and this is a good way to get your networking efforts rolling. We are a friendly bunch here at WA!

If you have any questions about any aspect of the make money process, feel free to leave them in the comments below.

Awesome, off to the next lesson now where you will be "choosing your niche"!

If I have written an 'About Me' and published it but wish to do a re-write, would I delete the post and start a new one or should I go into the post and just edit it all out with new content?

Does either way mess up that tracking in the Site Content...the words typed, articles published?

Thanks in advance.

You could or just edit if you like in your WordPress site.

If you edited a document in site content and published it, future edits has to be done in WordPress. Site content and WordPress work independently.

I'd place my images in a document in site content and publish it to my site. it will be added to my WordPress media library. Then delete the “temporary image” doc in site content so that it does not get indexed as well.

Having said that, if you have published it already you may save it as draft or delete.

I'd copy and paste bits I want or do a fresh one.

don't change the url or peralink...but you can change everything else...
if you change the permalink then it becomes a new article....that address is the key to the article and is what it is indexed under....
edits are good but not too frequently....
leave it for a few months between, store up the ideas....
good luck

This mess of mine could be worse than I thought.

I did publish in Site Content. It is still there along with the About me. Site Content says it is published.
I do not see it on my website or in my back office.
( currently on lesson 8 of Certification lessons.) I remember that I published it to a Page not a post, as instructed.

In the Appearance, under Menus, It is not in either Pages or posts.
Post has my About me. Pages has the default home page and the default Sample page.

I have the option in Site Content to delete the Privacy post. I think I might do that and just create a new one in Site Content.

(I don't know for certain, but I am suspecting that I may not have save the page correctly. )

About Me is a post, however in site content you have the choice to publish as a page or a post.

In WordPress sites back office it would be under Pages tab if published as a page or Posts tab as a post.

Appearance > Menus - first off you have to create a primary menu, then add up pages or categories to it.

Quick Question - Im bring my domain over from another domain place - I've changed the DNS to point to WA now its just the waiting game
If I close down (I'm off to bed) will it just sort its self and be ready for me in the morning?
AbieAJ Premium Plus

It can take up to 72 hours however in most cases can happen in 24 hours. I'd check it by morning.

I have a question if anybody can answer.

In the example of the football snack helmets as laid out in the video (btw I did google search out of curiosity and it is there, lol) there are a number of teams listed.

My question is; if perhaps a new team is created in some city, is there a way to keep up to date on that and update the site?

AbieAJ Premium Plus

You mean your site or the example one, sites can be updated at any time with content however must be relevant to the same niche. I hope I understood your question correctly?
TiredCobra Premium
The question pertained to the example of snack helmets.
I was wondering if the only way to keep up to date on changes in which teams have helmets for sale.

In other way of saying; if a new team is created, in city "XYZ" would there be corresponding addition on Amazon and would Amazon sale site somehow be connected to the example site with the update?

(Its not that you are not gunderstanding the question, I am having a hard time forming the question)
AbieAJ Premium Plus
If they exist on Amazon and the site owner wants to add additional reviews and include more appropriate affiliate links to cover the new find, then yes.

And no worries :) So very welcome.

You have to keep researching all the time and updating your posts.

I completed Lesson 6 "Getting Your Site Ready For Search Engines." However, I must have skipped something along the way because after the dash on my Home Page it says, "Just Another WordPress Site." I tried several ways to delete it but could not find a way to get back to my Home Page. Can you advise?
leoemery Premium
Go into your site dashboard - click on Settings - then General - and there you can remove that
leoemery Premium
I understand you're trying to help but there are more than enough members that have experience to answer questions like these.

No need to contact Kyle or Carson. That's the beauty of this platform.

Plus if you notice I provided the answer to her question. And if she needs more help I'm here if she needs it.

Leo has you covered there Laura, did you get it sorted?
jghwebbrand Premium
It is great that that wording can be changed at any time.
This is known as the website tag line. Its content can give a brief synopsis of what your website purpose is or will do.
As Leo has stated settings -> General

If title and tagline (Just Another WordPress Site), settings > general edit and save changes.

Level 1 Lesson 3
This is good yet a tad overwhelming. Choosing a Niche
I have multiple skill sets and talents. I'd love to start with my advocacy for autism...

I know what I want/need to be doing but my desire is far greater than my resources/knowledge of what's available regarding living with autism. (This is where I get stuck, not quite knowing how to pull my thoughts together to ask the right questions and get the help I need); do, ask away.

In addition, I can go for a niche in sewing without patterns, freehand or repurposing (taking the old and making it new).

DIY on a budget @ household/home office projects in organization or decorations.

DIY jewelry and accessories.

There is more but these are almost effortlessly to make. I enjoy all of my gifts and abilities.

When you choose a niche,
1)be sure you have a strong passion for it, something you could work on 6 months or more and something that can be a long term business.
2) Are there related products and existing affiliate programs.. You can do a google search.
my niche + Affiliate program (optional: .location)
3) Find out about the interest level. you can use
4) Find out what kind of questions people are asking. Is that something you want to help people with?

A niche is something you feel super excited to write about, a skill you have attained, something that resonates with you. You will want to be focused on one niche. What is it that you want to help a group of people with or what problem do you want to help them solve (group could be age, gender, location, experience level, degree or type of need, etc.)

Why should you narrow your niche?
The key to getting started fast is to narrow your niche down to a specific topic. This way, you will eliminate a lot of competition and get results much faster.
Niche example
Camping essentials for beginners as a niche subject Computer essentials for beginners. Strength training for women over 40.

If you are willing to pay? You can make more than one .com on here. For your .com's; if you are willing to pay? You can have more than one website? But, it might be a Lot of work.

I will say too; if you are not familiar with a subject? That is okay. You can research 3 articles on the subject you want to post about.

After that; and you might take notes? After that; you can make your own articles; in your own Original words; and that are you own words.

Hope this helps and encourages?

You need choose a ONE focused niche starting out, otherwise you will find it very hard to get noticed by the search engines and to compete with big authority sites. Target audience is important too, who would you be writing to, once you are able to identify them, you are closer to finding a focused niche.

So I'd say which one resonates best with you?

More info

A niche subject is something you are passionate and genuinely interested in could be a hobby or an interest, and know so well you can write plenty original content about.

ONE niche, a website. Products and programs can be varied however all must be relevant to the niche.

You may consult with for further research into finding a subcategory starting out. You can search what real people are asking as in Questions, Prepositions, Comparisons, in the past, letters and query. It is also great if someone wants to write a thorough research based article.

For example if you are in yoga
Yoga exercises for beginners

When deciding on a niche try narrow it down to a more specific niche, you can ask yourself the following question:

So I want to help people with ____________________ ?

Fill in the blank and you are going to get closer to a specific audience. Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

Once a site starts gaining traction, traffic and authority you can then scale to cover another subcategory.

See example blog post below Meanwhile I'd ask as many questions as I want to get clarifications,

Welcome to WA and our community.
