How Will YOU Make Money Online?

Great question!

The reality is that there are many ways to make money online! The problem is that people often get distracted by the "latest and greatest" product or service and they are never able to build a successful (and revenue generating) business as a result.

Today I am going to run you through one of the most fundamental, yet powerful processes of generating revenue online.

It is a proven process, it is one that we use, and one that 100,000's of other Wealthy Affiliate members use. It is also the ultimate "making money" process that worked 5 years ago and it is going to work 5 years from now (and beyond). It is a process that will reveal as much opportunity in the massive online world as you are willing to work for!

It is called Affiliate Marketing.

But, just one thing before you get into the MONEY "stuff"...

The making money part of your business won't happen quite yet.

Before you earn money, you are going to first be focusing on creating your niche website (which will take place in the next two lessons) and are working to get traffic to your website. Without a website, without content, and without traffic, the MONEY part simply doesn't happen.

So don't look at this like a race. You will reach success and a great deal of it, but before you build your own personal SKYSCRAPER of a business, you must first have a solid FOUNDATION to build it on. That is going to be our first goal within the Getting Started training. Cool?

Alright, let's continue on! :)

Below is a video walk-through of today's lesson and the process of "How to Make Money Online - The Process Explained". Just click the PLAY button to watch it!

In the coming days you are going to be working through this process and by the end of this Level 1 training alone, you are going to have an awesome foundation in place that will lead you to much greater success.

Task #1: Understand the Make Money Process

There are MANY different ways that you can earn money online and many different ways in which you can build an entire business. The most lucrative and the one that we have been teaching here at Wealthy Affiliate for the past 14 years is Affiliate Marketing.

Below is a diagram outlining the process of making money through affiliate marketing.

There are now over 4 BILLION people online as of 2019 (YOUR audience) and these people are going to search engines, social media, or visiting websites for help all the time.

These people are looking for information, solutions to problems and to buy stuff.

That is where you are going to come in with your website and help these "audiences" by offering them information about what they are looking for. You will be "helping" these people, recommending products/services they can benefit from, and you earn affiliate commissions ($$) as a result.

There are over 550 MILLION products/services that you can promote as an affiliate marketer. The opportunity is incredible and it is only growing!

By Lesson 4 of this course you are going to have your very own "niche" website in place that you will use to connect with your chosen audience and make money with. You will have your very own slice of the internet opportunity.

Task #2: Create (Write Down) Your Financial Goals

You want to earn revenue right? That is great! In order to earn anything however, you need to have some goals in place.

In this task we want you to join in on a "money goals" discussion here at Wealthy Affiliate. You are going to be telling us what your goals are and going forward, we are going to be helping you achieve these very goals!

QUESTION #1: How much money would you be happy earning?

QUESTION #2: How much would you be ecstatic (ie, really excited) earning?

QUESTION #3: And how much TIME are you willing to invest to achieve these goals?

PLEASE make 100% sure that you do not skip this step and you revisit this post regularly when you are in need of some motivation. I can absolutely assure you that if you work hard at this and you are persistent towards these goals, you will achieve them. But ultimately it is UP TO YOU!

JOIN DI$CU$ION: What Are Your "Money" Goals?

In addition to this, it would be wonderful if you commented on someone else's goals they have posted within this thread. Aim to comment on at least TWO people's goals. You likely can network with many other "like minded" people here at Wealthy Affiliate and this is a good way to get your networking efforts rolling. We are a friendly bunch here at WA!

If you have any questions about any aspect of the make money process, feel free to leave them in the comments below.

Awesome, off to the next lesson now where you will be "choosing your niche"!

Hi Friends,

Is "About me" post necessary ?
I'm still confused about it ! what if I live in a different country (amazon doesn't exist) , will the audience accept that ?
what if the niche is not my passion , how could I create a story like this ? can you offer more samples ?

Thanks

if you have no interest in your niche then this will come through
but an about me is part of the know like trust you need from the visitors
some will buy direct from an article, but a lot will take the time to have a look at the site and decide whether they trust it...as there are a lot of sites out there now then they have the choice....
so if there is nothing about the person/company running the site ...bye ...i will look for one that does....
so maybe start liking your niche and tell them the reason you want to help them solve their problems...
good luck
phil
business is about helping people - if you prove your worth to others they will give back ...that's human nature...
if you go out to sell to others then you may stumble...

Hi - I wouldn't advise having a niche you have no interest in. You will be expected to write a lot of content for your website about your niche. 2 or 3 articles every week.

Can you think of lots of topics to write about for the niche you have chosen?

Unfortunately the affiliate marketing in my country is not so strong !
I mean no big stores offer an affiliate program ! & Amazon doesn't exist
Thank you for the references, I'll check them

Do people shop online? It doesn't necessarily need to be a Big store that has an affiliate program. Many online websites give free shipping if the purchase price exceeds a certain amount. Does it work that way in your country too?
Reply

Yes they do shop online
But the online affiliate concept does not exist
So don't you recommend to target other countries ?

I just watched how to make money on your website. Do I need to feature a product on my website? I already have a website on home decorating that I'd like to promote and a blog on empty-nesting that I'd like to somehow incorporate into 1 website. Is that possible and would that promote a sale of something where I could make a commission?

Hi, eventually yes if it serves a purpose. You'd want write informational posts addressing issues related to your niche and if there's a solution / product that can solve their issue, you would write a review to help your visitors make an informed decision whether to click your links and go purchase the item / solution you have proposed. You'd have done your research well and outlined a plan.

Home decorating is a very interesting niche.
Do you get traffic to your existing website? Or do you have a social following? As you do the Wealthy Affiliate Training, you can check your existing website and see if you following the WA teaching. The WA training gives some very important things that help a website rank and get traffic.

After you get traffic you can look for products that relate to your website pages and blogs.

Does your empty nesting blog give helpful information and ideas? Are there products related to any of your ideas?

Without visiting your websites I can't be sure, but it seems that both of them need to be separate websites because their focus seems to be completely different.

The cost of a domain name is quite reasonable. WA charges $13.99 per year. I don't know what your current domain registrar charges.

Just a thought to consider.
I don't know your situation at all, but one of the options you do have if you want to continue as a Premium member at $49 per month, you could transfer your existing websites to WA. This all depends on your long term goals and what makes sense for you.

We wish you much success.

Hi everyone,

I already built a website but since I became premium and I would like to redo it by using a great design. I am just wondering what you recommend , should I get a registered domain or use a free one?

I guess in the beginning while I am building website and blogs I cloud use free and when it looks better I cloud switch to registered?
What are your thoughts?

Wonderful day to you All

Hi, you may like review my notes on below discussion resource for mote info The majority here use GeneratePress theme

GeneratePress is extremely light, fast, well coded, SEO optimised, flexible, adaptable and customisable.

The premium version plugin is even better, and you get templates and more options to customize.

Depending on what your site is based around, you can click through and add different themes to your website until you find one that works best for you.

My site is a blog, and I went with the "Bam" theme on wordpress. But I downloaded and tried 15 themes before I found the one that I liked.

I would also suggest that while you continue to build out your site, and learn/implement the training, you use a free domain. It might take a little while for your content to get indexed and for you to start seeing traffic coming in. Use the free domain until you get a feel for how to use wordpress and create content. You can always buy the paid domain later when you are ready and the site is up and running how you want it to be.

I hope this helps!

Best regards,

-Chris W.

Would like to inquire which approach is most effective to begin with!

Is it better to search for a profitable affiliate programs at first, and if they would be interesting to myself - move to their direction?
OR
To choose an interesting and actual niche and only afterwards to start searching relevant affiliate program.

Hi, I'd figure out my niche first and write original informational posts and if there's a product / solution you can provide to solve a visitor issue , you then can write a review to help your visitor make an informed decision whether to click your link and go purchase what you are proposing.

Thank you! But were there cases when you have chosen a niche, wrote a lot of content, posted it to your website and afterwards, unable to find proper affiliate program?

You could do a little niche research prior just to get an idea of what types of programs are out there but in the beginning your focus should be on just getting set up and consistently publishing informational content.

Most affiliate programs are going to want to inspect your website to see that it has plenty of relevant content and a steady stream of traffic prior to approving you. So knowing that, you probably do not want to apply or be in contact with them until you have a good 20+ articles published to your website. This is why adding links comes a little later in the training.

Good luck, Shannon

I would have assumed you would have researched your niche well and outlined your plan, however the primary goal is providing added value content first to gain traffic and traction and then instil the programs wanting promote. After all we are writing for humans vs search engines and you want your user experience top notch.

Hi everyone - so I need to choose a niche...

I provide online live tutor led training courses to corporates / businesses in: Microsoft programs like excel, word etc; Soft Skills and Management Training.

It is all live - and not elearning...

Would my niche be live tutor led training?

Any guidance on this would be very helpful

Hello Terry! You could possibly do a site that explains all of the tools you use in your classes, and try to sell those products via affiliate links. Or, you could do a you tube channel on your training sessions. Or you could do both.
Start with a site and write articles, sell products, and then once you get going with that, you could expand to you tube tutorials.
You could call it whatever you like, but just make sure you are not copying straight from your already taped sessions.
Try to make it as original as possible.

Hope this strikes some ideas!
