How Will YOU Make Money Online?

Great question!

The reality is that there are many ways to make money online! The problem is that people often get distracted by the "latest and greatest" product or service and they are never able to build a successful (and revenue generating) business as a result.

Today I am going to run you through one of the most fundamental, yet powerful processes of generating revenue online.

It is a proven process, it is one that we use, and one that 100,000's of other Wealthy Affiliate members use. It is also the ultimate "making money" process that worked 5 years ago and it is going to work 5 years from now (and beyond). It is a process that will reveal as much opportunity in the massive online world as you are willing to work for!

It is called Affiliate Marketing.

But, just one thing before you get into the MONEY "stuff"...

The making money part of your business won't happen quite yet.

Before you earn money, you are going to first be focusing on creating your niche website (which will take place in the next two lessons) and are working to get traffic to your website. Without a website, without content, and without traffic, the MONEY part simply doesn't happen.

So don't look at this like a race. You will reach success and a great deal of it, but before you build your own personal SKYSCRAPER of a business, you must first have a solid FOUNDATION to build it on. That is going to be our first goal within the Getting Started training. Cool?

Alright, let's continue on! :)

Below is a video walk-through of today's lesson and the process of "How to Make Money Online - The Process Explained". Just click the PLAY button to watch it!

In the coming days you are going to be working through this process and by the end of this Level 1 training alone, you are going to have an awesome foundation in place that will lead you to much greater success.

Task #1: Understand the Make Money Process

There are MANY different ways that you can earn money online and many different ways in which you can build an entire business. The most lucrative and the one that we have been teaching here at Wealthy Affiliate for the past 14 years is Affiliate Marketing.

Below is a diagram outlining the process of making money through affiliate marketing.

There are now over 4.75 BILLION people online as of 2022 (YOUR audience) and these people are going to search engines, social media, or visiting websites for help all the time.

These people are looking for information, solutions to problems and to buy stuff.

That is where you are going to come in with your website and help these "audiences" by offering them information about what they are looking for. You will be "helping" these people, recommending products/services they can benefit from, and you earn affiliate commissions ($$) as a result.

There are over 550 MILLION products/services that you can promote as an affiliate marketer. The opportunity is incredible and it is only growing!

By Lesson 4 of this course you are going to have your very own "niche" website in place that you will use to connect with your chosen audience and make money with. You will have your very own slice of the internet opportunity.

Task #2: Create (Write Down) Your Financial Goals

You want to earn revenue right? That is great! In order to earn anything however, you need to have some goals in place.

In this task we want you to join in on a "money goals" discussion here at Wealthy Affiliate. You are going to be telling us what your goals are and going forward, we are going to be helping you achieve these very goals!

QUESTION #1: How much money would you be happy earning?

QUESTION #2: How much would you be ecstatic (ie, really excited) earning?

QUESTION #3: And how much TIME are you willing to invest to achieve these goals?

PLEASE make 100% sure that you do not skip this step and you revisit this post regularly when you are in need of some motivation. I can absolutely assure you that if you work hard at this and you are persistent towards these goals, you will achieve them. But ultimately it is UP TO YOU!

JOIN DI$CU$$ION: What Are Your "Money" Goals?

In addition to this, it would be wonderful if you commented on someone else's goals they have posted within this thread. Aim to comment on at least TWO people's goals. You likely can network with many other "like minded" people here at Wealthy Affiliate and this is a good way to get your networking efforts rolling. We are a friendly bunch here at WA!

If you have any questions about any aspect of the make money process, feel free to leave them in the comments below.

Awesome, off to the next lesson now where you will be "choosing your niche"!

I understand for beginners we get one website to focus on a single niche. Realistically, how much can one expect to earn?

Best tips to picking out a niche that would be easy to work with?
Any niches to steer clear of?

Example of specific niche vs niche that’s too broad?

There's no definitive answer to your question, as there are many elements to the equation; no two people or two niches are the same; it depends on the focused niche you choose, the content you write, the choice of keywords, and how well you understand the process. However, I have known folks to earn their first sale in two weeks, others in three months, and more so in a few more months.

I would go with passionate and genuinely interested in vs, profitable, trendy or in demand.

I'd ask myself

Am I passionate and genuinely interested in my chosen niche, as I I'd be expected to write lots of content, it would motivate me to update blog with succinct original content worthy my visitors week in week out.

Would I be writing about it in a years time or two or more

Who would be my target audience, who would benefit most from what I have to offer.

It is possible to make 5 and 6 figures from one website n after it has aged. For that reason the best niche is one that you are very passionate about because if you are not you can burn out or get bored. You truly need something that excites you and you would like to help people with

Ideas to find a niche.
Do you have any hobbies? Sports? Problems you've solved? Problems you are looking to find solutions for? Products that are amazingly helpful? Something you talk a lot about? Something you wished you had learned earlier in life? Job skill? We see you are interested in a good niche. Since you will be writing posts for people to read on your website - who would be the audience you wish to write for and help? You will be writing both informational posts and product reviews. What kind of questions would people be asking about your niche that you can help them with as well? Your informational posts are important to grow your traffic.

How to narrow a niche down

You get 10 premium sites as a Premium member but ideally, you should focus on 1 until you get value out of it. The amount you can earn is hard to gauge since this is dependent on your work.

A vague niche is something broad such as cooking, fashion, and automobiles. A specific niche goes deeper such as baking for cooking, women's clothing for fashion, or RVs for automobiles. You can still go deeper and be more specific such as vegan baking for cooking, maternity clothing for women for fashion, or Class C motorhomes for RVs.

They say to narrow in on a niche to start off and then you can expand later. I also would prefer to do that, but this will totally be up to you.

After watching the video for lesson 3, I am tinkering with an idea for a niche. Health and fitness is my passion but obviously quite broad. I’m trying to narrow it down to something like the single dad fitness life. As a single dad who works full time, it’s difficult to fit in all in sometimes so its a topic I’m definitely passionate about and can already think of like 20 topics to write about.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Workout or yoga exercises for single dads.

Sounds like this resonates with you.

That's awesome and solid, you may want to dive in doing the classes and start building content for your website.

the single dad fitness life is a great idea. You will definitely get a following for that.
What you can do is brainstorm on all things that come to your mind and then start with one focus and then to the next. You can also see questions people ask at answersocrates.com

I like this idea:) health is very broad; you are right on the money there. The specific pocket you're aiming for also sounds even more evergreen. Kyle was talking about research slow and build fast. If you haven't nailed it down, I'd spend a few days researching and then just go for the gusto following our mentors here. Keep in mind it can always be edited after publication, but you can also reorganize everything before you go live with your ideas. You're going to get good feedback, so don't be shy. It's ok to even scrap and start from scratch at anytime, but do so early if you're still on the fence- I think it may save you time later. I'm not a guru, but these are educated guesses. Remember there is a learning curve with everything in life. Getting dad's fit seems very fitting. If I think of any good ideas, or if you'd like a guest blog ah lah Nurse Becca once you get a draft online, I'd be glad to and honored, really. Have faith in yourself, you got this.
Sincerely,
Nurse Becca

For the Supplements Review site shown in the video, I think its a great idea but has the person running the site actually tested every single product listed on the site? Or does this person do research online for products and then sort of put it all together in one place on his/her site?

I would not know if they've done or not. However you may follow on below resource. While it is ideal to try everything beforehand, it is not feasible. So you You may research other peoples work however all content must be originally written in your own words.

I'm not certain about that specific site either, but reviewing products is a lot easier as you become familiar with your niche. I certainly buy a lot of the products I review. If I can get a refund, even better, but that's not always the case, so I try to buy things I can also use.

But when you're familiar with your niche, say you're reviewing guitars and guitar equipment, for example, you don't need to own every guitar. You become familiar with particular brands, construction materials, design elements, etc.

You'll also find that you've run into certain things more times than you can count, and you'll learn what a majority of people have difficulty with and what they like and don't like. For example, all guitars under a certain price point might have something in common that people should be aware of, but maybe there's one brand or model that excels in that area for its price point.

Or, someone might want to know if a certain guitar is good for a particular style of music. Maybe they have large hands or small hands. Some guitars or amps are good in some situations and not for others, and so on...

These are all things you become familiar with as you learn your niche. Your experience and the information you have online will help you review products honestly and provide real value to your readers.

As an affiliate marketer with an online website it is impossible to buy and test every product you review and recommend. So you can do research and watch videos and read reviews (amazon has a lot of product reviews) Also the manufacturers site gives you a lot of insight.

Hello Community,

I want to create a second website niche as my first one I felt was a little bit broad. I love and enjoy bodybuilding and I was thinking of creating a website about pre workout supplements.

Id like to help people (mostly beginners) make informed decisions based on what types of pre workout supplements there are, what they should know about them, how to choose, etc.

What do you guys think? Could this be viable or is it kinda broad? Thanks

You can address bodybuilding pre-workout exercises for beginners and then promote products in relation to your focused niche website. Sounds great.

And if so, I am ready to dive in. All the best to you going forward.

Your may want to start with a workout for a specific purpose - for example building muscle. Later you can expand that to include other purposes.

Make sure you start with informational posts. Answersocrates may give you some ideas of things people want to know if you need more ideas. Also doing a google search and check "people also ask" section.

Niche a select bunch of people looking for things you got. I would try to think of how much content this would leave you writing about . How many categories you'll have to talk about just one supplement. From my prospective if you know a ton of things about just one supplement how much space are you gonna leave for all the rest that are out there.
For instance or example.my site is dennisautosupply.com this can be very broad but I re thought about what I wanted my specific group of people to know that this is where we begin with paint detail then goes into interior detail.then finishes to engine detail. Even though my website states supply it's not parts it's not accessories. Its all the stuff in between.( niche is not a product ). I'm still learning my self. You just have to ask yourself how passionate are you about body building. By using original content nothing copied or pasted. Coming souly from you and your heart. Remember your trying to gain trust with your group of people.once you can establish this, they will trust you to have other content to focus on.just like you have trusted me to give you a answer you didnt know you would be so happy to get. And I know that I'm not the only one that's gonna give you the advice your seeking to get. In fact you get so much help here. You'll want to complete your tasks and accomplish your goals. I hope this help you. Learning never stops EVER! Have a fantastic day

Yes I made this same diagnosis. Right after I was told by Kyle that a niche is not a product it's a group of people interested in what you have ..

Hello! I have 2 questions actually:

1. As I mentioned a few days ago, I have changed my niche from belly fat loss to clinical depression + treatments, but I already made a domain for belly fat loss. Would I need to create a new website? Because I do not know how to change that domain to something related to clinical depression.

2. I have been making a list of content to write for my niche, whilst also going through the WA training. But I wanted to know, should I just post informative, value-adding content (of course all the content will be value-adding) for my first few posts before promoting clinical depression products? I'm not sure how to go about it. Thank you!
Reply
jghwebbrand Premium
Yes, you should have a new website for Clinical depression. Each niche must have its own website.

2. Yes, most definitely create informational posts first. Even 15 - 20 can be a great idea. Let your audience know you are here to help not sell. Also the search engines like informational posts as well. It will help your site rank better.

You need to be a premium before you can apply the move feature found within your site manager as hosting is included in a premium subscription to the platform.

Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

Does that help???
