How Will YOU Make Money Online?

Great question!

The reality is that there are many ways to make money online! The problem is that people often get distracted by the "latest and greatest" product or service and they are never able to build a successful (and revenue generating) business as a result.

Today I am going to run you through one of the most fundamental, yet powerful processes of generating revenue online.

It is a proven process, it is one that we use, and one that 100,000's of other Wealthy Affiliate members use. It is also the ultimate "making money" process that worked 5 years ago and it is going to work 5 years from now (and beyond). It is a process that will reveal as much opportunity in the massive online world as you are willing to work for!

It is called Affiliate Marketing.

But, just one thing before you get into the MONEY "stuff"...

The making money part of your business won't happen quite yet.

Before you earn money, you are going to first be focusing on creating your niche website (which will take place in the next two lessons) and are working to get traffic to your website. Without a website, without content, and without traffic, the MONEY part simply doesn't happen.

So don't look at this like a race. You will reach success and a great deal of it, but before you build your own personal SKYSCRAPER of a business, you must first have a solid FOUNDATION to build it on. That is going to be our first goal within the Getting Started training. Cool?

Alright, let's continue on! :)

Below is a video walk-through of today's lesson and the process of "How to Make Money Online - The Process Explained". Just click the PLAY button to watch it!

In the coming days you are going to be working through this process and by the end of this Level 1 training alone, you are going to have an awesome foundation in place that will lead you to much greater success.

Task #1: Understand the Make Money Process

There are MANY different ways that you can earn money online and many different ways in which you can build an entire business. The most lucrative and the one that we have been teaching here at Wealthy Affiliate for the past 14 years is Affiliate Marketing.

Below is a diagram outlining the process of making money through affiliate marketing.

There are now over 4 BILLION people online as of 2019 (YOUR audience) and these people are going to search engines, social media, or visiting websites for help all the time.

These people are looking for information, solutions to problems and to buy stuff.

That is where you are going to come in with your website and help these "audiences" by offering them information about what they are looking for. You will be "helping" these people, recommending products/services they can benefit from, and you earn affiliate commissions ($$) as a result.

There are over 550 MILLION products/services that you can promote as an affiliate marketer. The opportunity is incredible and it is only growing!

By Lesson 4 of this course you are going to have your very own "niche" website in place that you will use to connect with your chosen audience and make money with. You will have your very own slice of the internet opportunity.

Task #2: Create (Write Down) Your Financial Goals

You want to earn revenue right? That is great! In order to earn anything however, you need to have some goals in place.

In this task we want you to join in on a "money goals" discussion here at Wealthy Affiliate. You are going to be telling us what your goals are and going forward, we are going to be helping you achieve these very goals!

QUESTION #1: How much money would you be happy earning?

QUESTION #2: How much would you be ecstatic (ie, really excited) earning?

QUESTION #3: And how much TIME are you willing to invest to achieve these goals?

PLEASE make 100% sure that you do not skip this step and you revisit this post regularly when you are in need of some motivation. I can absolutely assure you that if you work hard at this and you are persistent towards these goals, you will achieve them. But ultimately it is UP TO YOU!

JOIN DI$CU$ION: What Are Your "Money" Goals?

In addition to this, it would be wonderful if you commented on someone else's goals they have posted within this thread. Aim to comment on at least TWO people's goals. You likely can network with many other "like minded" people here at Wealthy Affiliate and this is a good way to get your networking efforts rolling. We are a friendly bunch here at WA!

If you have any questions about any aspect of the make money process, feel free to leave them in the comments below.

Awesome, off to the next lesson now where you will be "choosing your niche"!

Hello family. Hope you all are well. I am in the process of making my web site. I am kinda stuck. Whilst in the process I encountered a pop up window telling me the site is already created and if I need to continue with it I will have to delete the other site first. How do I do that.
Thanks

Note that the one existing was created by me but I must have done something that led to the finishing part and yet I was not yet done. Thanks

Hi - yes, as a free starter member, you can only have one website. To delete your old one, click on Websites, go to Site Manager, and Details. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the Delete option.

Yes, you probably created a free website at the time you joined and now when you are doing the training you are creating another one. As a free starter member you can only have one free siterubix.com website.

Here's what you can do If you need the instructions again.

How to delete and build different free website.
Menu Bar -> websites -> Site manager -> find your website
Look in lower right hand corner for "details" click on it.
Then scroll down and look in bottom left hand corner for "delete"
Click it.
To create a new one
Menu Bar -> websites -> Build Website -> Free website.

Hi

As a starter you are allowed a siterubix subdomain around a focused niche and build up content, down the line have your own dot com, as some affiliate programs do not work with a subdomain. Cost of which is $14 yearly each privacy included. You can then move your siterubix to your dot com applying the move feature found within the site manager, an easy process. However hosting is included in a premium subscription to the platform.

If URL dot com and made a mistake, you need to purchase a new domain.

If URL siterubix subdomain, you can delete and start again, however I’d save my work in site content.

If you made a mistake on your siterubix subdomain, you may delete by clicking details onward next page scroll to bottom and click delete. Then head to site builder

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/build

And choose a free domain, enter credentials and follow procedure.

If title and tagline, settings > general edit and save changes.

Should I bring my old website/blog over instead of making a new website?

And should I name my website whatever niche I’m in? Right now my website I made a year ago is in my husbands and my name. dylanamandawagoner But maybe I should make it more themed what do y’all think?

These days you can go either way. Search engines do not use your domain name to rank your content. It is the actual content itself that gives rank.

Personally we like domain names with at least one word of your niche in it.

I checked your existing website. It looks like you are probably not get much traffic. I checked it using checkpagerank.net.

Do you have a local business? Or just your website?
If you do not have a local business then using your name is not significant. And I would probably buy a new domain if you are serious about earning online. But as you go through the training you may think of some great niche names.

Even if you build a free siterubix.com website you can MOVE what you create to a .com domain name later loosing none of your content, images, etc.

Hi Amanda,

Using your own name can actually have benefits once you establish yourself as an authority in the affiliate marketing space.

So there is no need to change it.

All the best.

Hi

That's totally up to you if wanting carry on with existing or starting new, however if your current site has content, you may want to write to support for further instructions how to migrate site to WA if that's the intention.

And if no content, you may transfer or point to WA servers (if transferring domain has to end in .com, .net or .org.

To update your domain DNS settings to point to WA. Here are the DNS settings.

ns1.mywahosting.com
ns2.mywahosting.com

These settings will be updated within your domain registrar (where you purchased your domain) after the transfer has taken place. To transfer your domain here you need login current registrar and fetch the EPP code, there's a one year charge of $14, privacy included. One year more will get added to your domain.

Also it has to have passed the grace period of 60 days.

----------------------

The name of your domain can be related to your niche and cannot for example Apple dot com does not sell apples vs tech gear.

However nowadays domains are not so affected by SEO vs writing quality rich content with good choice of keywords, latter of which would rank you in the search engines.

Again dependent your focused niche how you pursue with a plan for your site. You are wanting start off with a subcategory, otherwise you will find it very hard to get noticed by the search engines and to compete with big authority sites. Target audience is important too, who would you be writing to, once you are able to identify them, you are closer to finding a focused niche.

Once a site starts gaining traction, traffic and authority you can then scale to cover another subcategory.

Looking up your site, you may want to review below resource

https://blog.feedspot.com/homesteading_blogs/

You may consult with https://answersocrates.com/ for further research into finding a subcategory starting out. You can search what real people are asking as in Questions, Prepositions, Comparisons, in the past, letters and query. It is also great if someone wants to write a thorough research based article.

Possible programs

https://onemorecupof-coffee.com/best-homesteading-affiliate-programs/
https://onemorecupof-coffee.com/best-farming-affiliate-programs/

Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

Or

You can do a google search
Your niche + affiliate programs
Your niche + affiliate programs + location
and see what results you get

Meanwhile I'd ask as many questions as I want to get clarifications,

Hi
I am in lesson 8 Creating custom menus on your website and have reached "placing custom menus in widgets" when I come to Kyle's video position 9:24 it is totally different to the one on my training which I am changing as I go along?
I am at a stop!!
I think Kyle's video version is 2019 and the Wordpress version available to me could be 2021?
Thanks

Yes, WordPress did a major update recently to 5.8 and has totally changed the location of widgets. The trend for location for widgets is now at the bottom of post content. This si the way things will be going.

If you want to see widgets on the right side you will need to install the following Wordpress plugins.
Classic Editor
Classic Widget
Custom Sidebars -Dynamic Sidebar Widget Area Manager

Hi

You may install the classic widgets plugin and with the classic editor.

https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-sidebars/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-widgets/

Initially you may download to your PC and then upload .zip files to your WordPress sites back office.

Or go to Plugins > Add new, input classic widgets, install and activate.

However in the standard view you may click the plus to add something or the three dots and choose to remove a block from the drop down menu.

I have a couple different and unrelated niches that I could see myself pursuing, but for now I think I want to start off within a men's health niche.

I'm having trouble thinking of the kind of content I would create because I don't buy many supplements, I don't purchase exercise equipment... how can I do this without product or experience?

I might test the waters by going in the direction of sexual health, but am not sure how to narrow it down further than that, or create content for it. Can you help?

Hi

Those are great niches to be in however broad you may want to narrow one or the other down to a subcategory starting out, otherwise you will find it very hard to get noticed by the search engines and to compete with big authority sites. Target audience is important too, who would you be writing to, once you are able to identify them, you are closer to finding a focused niche.

Once a site starts gaining traction, traffic and authority you can then scale to cover another subcategory.

See example blog post below A niche subject is something you are passionate and genuinely interested in could be a hobby or an interest, and know so well you can write plenty original content about.

ONE niche, a website. Products and programs can be varied however all must be relevant to the niche.

You may consult with https://answersocrates.com/ for further research into finding a subcategory starting out. You can search what real people are asking as in Questions, Prepositions, Comparisons, in the past, letters and query. It is also great if someone wants to write a thorough research based article.

You may like view below resource for more ideas

https://blog.feedspot.com/mens_health_blogs/

When deciding on a niche try narrow it down to a more specific niche, you can ask yourself the following question:

So I want to help people with ____________________ ?

Fill in the blank and you are going to get closer to a specific audience. Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

You don't have to have the products you may read other peoples work and research however all content must be original written in your own words.

Possible programs

https://onemorecupof-coffee.com/best-mens-health-affiliate-programs/

Or

You can do a google search
Your niche + affiliate programs
Your niche + affiliate programs + location
and see what results you get

Meanwhile I'd ask as many questions as I want to get clarifications,

One thing you may want to think about first is - what do you know a lot about (other interests, sports, hobbies?) It is fine to go the direction of men's health but it will probably take a lot of research time.

Here are some websites they may help you narrow your niche idea.

Hi Israel, just touching base to see how you're doing with your niche. There's a lot of good information here being shared. It really is about narrowing it down to an area that hasn't been given as much attention online.

It's common to think of product categories when narrowing down your niche but that's not your only option. You can narrow it down by focusing on a specific group of people, a specific problem you're helping people solve, a specific location or region, specific activity, or a combination of all of those. An example might be something like 'beach runners'... which targets a specific group of people doing a specific activity in a specific type of location and the specific problems associated with (THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE. I haven't researched it to see if it's a viable niche, the audience is probably too small but it gives you an idea).

The other thing I'll mention is to be careful when it comes to health-related niches. Google considers this a YMYL (your money your life) niche and they hold it to a higher standard, meaning they prioritize content that comes from an expert authority.

It is difficult to rank content that drifts into topics that might suggest anything medical-related as sites with higher medical authority will always be difficult to compete with. These sites have content written by health professionals with related sites (like hospitals, clinics, and other experts in that field) that link out to them and indicate to Google they are a trusted authority. It's not impossible to go into these niches, especially if you're a medical professional yourself, but it's not recommended. Your content will have to be that much better with exceptional research and even then, it will take much longer to rank as your site builds authority over the years.

If you need more help with choosing a niche here are some thoughts.
A niche is something you feel super excited to write about, a skill you have attained, something that resonates with you. You will want to be focused on one niche. What is it that you want to help a group of people with or what problem do you want to help them solve (group could be age, gender, location, experience level, degree or type of need, etc.)

A niche is not a product, it's a subject that you can help a target audience with. Remember, you are not setting up a shop (store), you will be writing lots of articles about your niche to help your targeted audience.

Kyles asks us to complete this statement.
'i want to help ____(group) with ______(problem)'

For example. I like camping and what to help campers buy the right equipment to make their camping experience more pleasant and safe.

Camping is a very broad topic with a lot of competition so to eliminate some competition in the beginning so the website has a chance to grow, the focus needs to be a smaller scope. For example essential camping equipment for beginners. Once the website is established and has a good volume, its scope can be expanded to include other things camping related. This is just an example.

Why should you narrow your niche when first starting?
The key to getting started fast is to narrow your niche down to a specific topic. This way, you will eliminate a lot of competition and get results much faster. Once your site is established and you are getting traffic you can expand your niche scope.

Here are a couple of blogs on narrowing and expanding a niche.

Enjoyed the read and videos. I forgot how thorough Wealthy Affiliate training is!

I agree setting up your profile is essential to building trust. It's a basic form of branding really. Every business has a brand, and if you're serious about building a business then you'll take the time to complete your profile.

Imagine what Fortune 100 and 500 companies had to do to build their brand....

3 steps to a complete profile is a cake-walk.
