How Will YOU Make Money Online?

Great question! The reality is that there are many ways to make money online. However, people often get distracted by the "latest and greatest" product or service, and as a result, they are never able to build a successful and revenue-generating business.

Today, I will guide you through one of the most fundamental yet powerful processes of generating revenue online. It is a proven process that we use, and one that Wealthy Affiliate members follow.

It is called Affiliate Marketing, and it is the ultimate "make money" process that worked 17 years ago and will continue to work 17 years from now.

The best part about affiliate marketing is that you don't have to create your own products or services. You simply find products or services that you're passionate about, promote them to your audience, and earn a commission on every sale.

I have created a video lesson (below) that I recommend that you check out when you get a chance. This is going to walk you through the process of building a business online, and what it looks like. If you understand this, you understand the BUSINESS!

Click the PLAY BUTTON (or anywhere on the video) to watch it!

There are a lot of really exciting draws to building an affiliate marketing business, and leveraging this business model to generate revenue online.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money online because it's:

  • Simple: Anyone can do it, regardless of their experience or skills.
  • Scalable: You can earn as much money as you want, depending on how much effort you put into it.
  • Lots of Options. There are over 550 MILLION products/services that you are going to be learning how to sell as an affiliate marketer.
  • Passive: Once you set up your affiliate marketing campaigns, you can earn money even while you sleep.

Here is a quick diagram outlining how the simple process of an affiliate marketing transaction works.

As you move through the training, you are going to be building out your very own affiliate marketing business. It starts with you choosing a direction for your business, which we are going to cover next lesson. ;)

Hello Everyone! I am excited to absorb as much information as possible in this chat. I am currently looking to add a supplemental income as I have had my hours at work cut. I welcome any advice you may have to make a success in this new journey. My niche to begin will be all things pet related. I love animals so I think this is a good thing to begin with. TIA!

Great to have you here Anita, I know you have found a home here at WA. Sounds like you have a really big passion when it comes to pets, you just want to narrow this down a little bit to a particular facet of pets.

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience.

Also, I recommend that you use the Niche Finder AI (Artificial Intelligence) platform here at WA:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/home#nichefinder

If you plug your ideas in there, you are going to get lots of concepts for narrowed down niches. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

Hi,

So I have a question, my top number 1 concern has been choosing the Niche and the reason is that my passions and what I like and enjoy which are Health & Fitness, Nutrition and Personal Growth and development comes under Google YMYL and EAT.

Considering that in order to get clicks on my links and get commissions I need to get traffic to my website, that has been one of the things that have kept me frozen on moving forward since Google updated their algorithm with YMYL and EAT.

How would you say I can go about this? Should I be choosing a different Niche? Thanks.

Good morning Jonas,

Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate; it's great to see you here, you have joined a great platform.

Sometimes I think it's just easier to ignore Google, within reason and go to where your passion is! I believe that if you follow the training, as many people have, you stand a very good chance of being successful. It also helps if you have a real passion for your niche, as I believe that passion can shine through in your writing and people can see that you are serious.

I hope this helps.

I wish you every success with your online business.

The niches you mention have many topics that was not affected by the YMYL update. It depends on the specific niche and topics. I would avoid a niche that focused on medical advice as that will definitely be hard to rank. But there are many other topics that are great for an affiliate site. You can get an idea about this by looking at what is already ranking in your niche.

As for EAT, this is actually relevant for all sites and not just some niches. It is about showing you have expertise and that you are an expert. But that is what you learn to do with the training here.

You need to prove you are an authority in your niche and possess the knowledge, as some niches that fall under Google YMYL could impact someone's life. You may have to display a disclaimer.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. So I would like to explain that I was a personal trainer and fitness manager back in the day, I then left the fitness industry over 15 years ago and went into sales, I am currently an area sales manager for an IT consultancy company. I still help some friends and family with nutrition and training advice, weight loss and also life advice in general about how to be healthier, active, positive and more successful in life.

I am also very passionate about food and cooking, I tried to do a food blog before but gave up as doing the recipes and pictures take a lot of my time and working full time is a bit of a difficult one to grow. I have lived on 2 different continents and visited more than 30 countries on 3 different continents so I would definitely be passionate about writing about something like food culture or food travelling. When I answer the following question I come up with several answers:

I want to help people that … men over 40 to be more successful and happy in life through their nutrition, exercise and healthy productive habits advice.
I want to help people that … are interested in food, the history and culture behind each cuisine, and their techniques of cooking and share information about travelling culinary experiences.
I want to help people that … need a comfortable outdoor space back home to understand the best and most affordable products in the market as well as give them tips and ideas on how to do it.

After doing some niche research I have come up with the following possible niches:

Dating Advice for Single Men Over 40.
Low Calorie Nutrition for Men Over 40.
Success Habits for Men Over 40.
Outdoor Chillout Furniture.
Marketing Automation Software.
Project Management Software.
Organic Products
Gourmet Food Travel
Cultural Food Travel

I am planning to set up several sites. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like you have already done some great research.

I would suggest you also use Google to check what is already ranking in the different niches and see if there are affiliate sites as that gives you an indication of its potential.

And then, I would be careful about going into marketing automation software as your first niche. Most sites in this niche are problem run by experts or companies with big teams which is difficult to compete with when you are just starting. This is something you can also see when you do some googling and look at your competitors.

Also, I would suggest you start with one site and grow that and start earning from that before starting several. I see many people getting excited about all the niche opportunities that are there and then start working on several sites but it spreads them out and success will then take longer compared to putting all the focus into one site. Especially when you still have a regular job you have to do also.
In addition to that, it is a learning process and if you focus on one site you will learn a lot from that and learn what to do and what not to do, and that will make it a lot more effective when building another site later.

Hope this helps and gives you some ideas.

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. When I said I plan to do several sites I didn't mean all at the same time as I agree with what you are saying. Just wondering about those niches which should be easier to rank and monetize first...any suggestions? Thanks.

Good to hear.

As for the best to start with, that is something I cannot as such answer as it would take a lot of research for me to look into these niches as I do not know them. And a lot of it also comes down to what you are passionate about and feel the most motivated to get started with, as that is important to be able to keep going and get results. And also, what you have the most experience with is important as that will make it easier for you to create content and find content ideas.

But one thing to think about is that traveling content can be hard to create if you are not constantly traveling.

One thing I would also suggest is to not make the URL too specific so it allows you to expand your niche later. For example, your URL should not include something with "over 40" if that is the target audience you want to go for. Because later on, you might find out that you also want to have content that is relevant for others. Just something to think about.

Hope this helps

I wanted to ask too if there is a way I can market for the affiliates without having to write blogs or making any content because I'm not a very good writer but just by pushing adverts. if so will I be able to get the training on this too with the premium upgrade?

It's all about creating engaging content, whether that be articles you write or YouTube videos you upload or social media content you post.

Dropping links without content simply doesn't work, but don't worry. We all start at square one, and this training walks you through the entire process. :)

one more thing. what are my chances of success if I am to commit full time with consistency using the premium platform's strategies considering I'm from a remote part of Africa?

It is a process; it starts with choosing a focused niche site, building relevant content addressing issues related to your niche site, and getting ready for affiliate programs.

You would need to provide value to a chosen target audience vs. just dropping links.

Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google, and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to click your links and purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

You are now in lesson one of Level One.

There are many elements to the equation; no two people or two niches are the same; it depends on the focused niche you choose, the content you write, the choice of keywords, and how well you understand the process. However, I have known folks to earn their first sale in two weeks, others in three months, and more so in a few more months.

Your location doesn’t really have much to do with the process as long as you have internet connection.

Just like with anything else, you’re capable of everything you’re capable of, right? Focus on learning and see how much you can grow. :)

my whole focus is to find a program that will actually work to bring in consistent cash flow that I can scale and to be able to do whatever and whenever I want for myself and my two kids.. is this the nice itself- the journey of going from $0 a month to the first dollar to $10 , $100, $1000, $5000+ ? And how someone else could do the same
