How Will YOU Make Money Online?

Great question!

The reality is that there are many ways to make money online! The problem is that people often get distracted by the "latest and greatest" product or service and they are never able to build a successful (and revenue generating) business as a result.

Today I am going to run you through one of the most fundamental, yet powerful processes of generating revenue online.

It is a proven process, it is one that we use, and one that 100,000's of other Wealthy Affiliate members use. It is also the ultimate "making money" process that worked 5 years ago and it is going to work 5 years from now (and beyond). It is a process that will reveal as much opportunity in the massive online world as you are willing to work for!

It is called Affiliate Marketing.

But, just one thing before you get into the MONEY "stuff"...

The making money part of your business won't happen quite yet.

Before you earn money, you are going to first be focusing on creating your niche website (which will take place in the next two lessons) and are working to get traffic to your website. Without a website, without content, and without traffic, the MONEY part simply doesn't happen.

So don't look at this like a race. You will reach success and a great deal of it, but before you build your own personal SKYSCRAPER of a business, you must first have a solid FOUNDATION to build it on. That is going to be our first goal within the Getting Started training. Cool?

Alright, let's continue on! :)

Below is a video walk-through of today's lesson and the process of "How to Make Money Online - The Process Explained". Just click the PLAY button to watch it!

In the coming days are going to be working through this process and by the end of this Level 1 training alone, you are going to have an awesome foundation in place that will lead you to much greater success.

Task #1: Understand the Make Money Process

There are MANY different ways that you can earn money online and many different ways in which you can build an entire business. The most lucrative and the one that we have been teaching here at Wealthy Affiliate for the past 14 years is Affiliate Marketing.

Below is a diagram outlining the process of making money through affiliate marketing.

There are now over 4 BILLION people online as of 2019 (YOUR audience) and these people are going to search engines, social media, or visiting websites for help all the time.

These people are looking for information, solutions to problems and to buy stuff.

That is where you are going to come in with your website and help these "audiences" by offering them information about what they are looking for. You will be "helping" these people, recommending products/services they can benefit from, and you earn affiliate commissions ($$) as a result.

There are over 550 MILLION products/services that you can promote as an affiliate marketer. The opportunity is incredible and it is only growing!

By Lesson 4 of this course you are going to have your very own "niche" website in place that you will use to connect with your chosen audience and make money with. You will have your very own slice of the internet opportunity.

Task #2: Create (Write Down) Your Financial Goals

You want to earn revenue right? That is great! In order to earn anything however, you need to have some goals in place.

In this task we want you to join in on a "money goals" discussion here at Wealthy Affiliate. You are going to be telling us what your goals are and going forward, we are going to be helping you achieve these very goals!

QUESTION #1: How much money would you be happy earning?

QUESTION #2: How much would you be ecstatic (ie, really excited) earning?

QUESTION #3: And how much TIME are you willing to invest to achieve these goals?

PLEASE make 100% sure that you do not skip this step and you revisit this post regularly when you are in need of some motivation. I can absolutely assure you that if you work hard at this and you are persistent towards these goals, you will achieve them. But ultimately it is UP TO YOU!

JOIN DI$CU$ION: What Are Your "Money" Goals?

In addition to this, it would be wonderful if you commented on someone else's goals they have posted within this thread. Aim to comment on at least TWO people's goals. You likely can network with many other "like minded" people here at Wealthy Affiliate and this is a good way to get your networking efforts rolling. We are a friendly bunch here at WA!

If you have any questions about any aspect of the make money process, feel free to leave them in the comments below.

Awesome, off to the next lesson now where you will be "choosing your niche"!

Hello.. I'm new here and I had a couple questions I was wondering if you guys could answer! 1: I was needing to make some money to be able to supply for myself and help myself in times of need, as I have tourettes and other disabilities that cause me to not be able to work. So I was needing to know how fast I can get money started on here, and if it's easy? 2: I needed to know some tips on how to make a website people would be interested in and ways to get money easily throughout it? I have goals I wish to achieve! Thanks in advance.

Hi Lisa, This isn't a get rich quick opportunity but some people start to earn pretty early on. It is one to look at the long game. To build something solid that will sustain over time. As far as your niche, almost anything will work with over 4 billion people on the internet. Choose something you are interested in or are knowledgeable about. Maybe even a disability? It should be something you'll stay interested in for the long haul. :) Hope this helps.

Hi,

SInce I'm a bit familiar with WP, I went on and created an about me page and a couple of categories that can be seen in the menu section of my website. Yesterday I followed the instructions in the training and published a private policy page plus updated my about me page according to the template in Site Content. Today I can't see the private policy page. What can be the problem?

Thanks

You just mentioned you "published a private policy page"... If you made it private you won't be able to see it unless you're logged in. Go to your admin panel, click all posts & check from there.

Thanks Dale! I've just finished the training on creating a menu and it turned out that since I already had a menu in place, the privacy page needed to be added to that menu in order for it to become visible.

Since I work at a Web Agency and I'm every day building websites for customers I really would love to promote hostings, Plugins, WordPress themes and so on...just because I really enjoy looking for the best solutions for my customers at the agency I think I can do this in a larger scale. Do you guys think it could be a good niche? I guess there is lots of competition out there related to this niche...could this be a problem?

Hey Andrew, It is my opinion that anything can be a good niche. Even if it is a popular one the fact is that you will bring your own spin to it making it unique. Since you have experience in this area, I think it would be worth your while to dedicate one of your websites to it.

Of course, you will get additional advice on this situation from others in the community then you can make a good decision.

To your success,
Claudia

There will be competition in ANY niche, and that's a good thing. It means people are making money! You'll have to work to establish yourself in the niche, but everyone has to work. I wouldn't worry too much about competition at this point.

Imagine if there was never any room for new businesses. People would have stopped opening coffee shops long ago!

If you focus on creating good content, the lazy people will drop off, and you will gain authority in time. Even if you aren't #1 right away, you can pretty easily establish yourself in the top 10 sites in the world on any niche if you stick around long enough and focus on growing your business.
Reply
I guess the first question that comes to mind is, would it be better to choose a more obscure niche that will rank higher in
Google because of less competition or choose something more popular that will get more traffic,
I'll keep going with the lessons and see if that is answered.

Hello Kyle/anyone that can help, do you suggest just one product/service per site or is it viable to have a general category e.g. Babies and then on your site have categories such as clothes, sleeping, car seats etc (I'm not using this by the way just after your opinion).

Also, can you suspend your website from being live whilst you are working on it?

Ok, so, I'm thinking about my niche and I'm pretty sure I'm overthinking. I am a coach, have been coached, see the value in it so think this might be the area but think it's too broad and probably have to be more specific. I suppose the issue is also that in order to promote others then I would need to really know whether or not their products/services are above board and of value. So I'm getting caught up. Then I think my other interest is actually enlightenment/meditation etc. I have practised and continue to be on my journey. Again though, it's knowing to whom you are referring. Perhaps I am getting ahead of myself???? I am also an avid reader, love love love books. I love to write and love to teach or share what has helped me in terms of coaching and in relation to my journey of enlightenment. Overthinking? Overcomplicating? Yes!

Hi Martine, your thought process is very understandable. But one thing you need to realize is this: It is going to be your audience who will decide what content they enjoy the most.

When starting out, it's great to have some kind of content plan. But once you start receiving traffic and comments, that's when you'll see which of your content gets the most attention. Then you'll have to go deeper on those topics.

Very often, it won't be the articles that you personally thought were the best... I think in 9 out of 10 cases, I'm surprised which of my articles get read the most.

However, to reach that point you will have to write A LOT. A looooot of content has to be added to your blog.

So here's the best advice that I can give you:
- Take a topic where you see yourself writing every day for a full year. Don't take a topic where you cannot see yourself doing that.
- Pay close attention to which of your content gets the most traffic, comments, or social media shares. Then think about how you can expand on those topics.

Growing a blog is a process that you cannot plan from its inception. It's a dialogue with your audience and readerbase, you will grow together with them.

Hope this helps!

Thank You very much for the awesome website builder and the help w all of this to Kyle and Carson and The Community for making it less scary confusing and like I am actually for once not stuck on the same few spots that make me give up and say ... I will try again tomorrow... I am really excited to introduce the topic in a blog or two then to bring my company into it and yesterday studied up took notes feel like I am really learning about my niche to expertly tell a story about it. One thing I have personally noticed is that when you do pick a topic that you truly are interested in and find fascinating or that you really can help someone out w their problem or future as opposed to just any product that you are so so about it really does make it that much more exciting to want to write something compelling to possible really start a following or get ranked highly on Google. Within the week WA has truly given me the confidence to think Skies The Limit. That is Awesome for someone like me who is in between jobs kind of struggling financially at the moment and a week ago was going “crap now what” to just a very much more positive outlook... so Thankful...

Hey, Kyle! What do you think of a niche called "Crazy Cowboy Boots"? Really different boots with lots of color that stand out. I have been in the music business all my life and i want to try to attract stars (for one reason; they have money to spend) and for another reason; I have always LOVED cowboy boots! My hero and heroine was Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, for heavens' sake!
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - it's a great idea, I love cowboy boots! However, one thing to be aware of is that all the images on your site have to be copyright-free, you can't just copy and paste them from Google or other websites.

If you are thinking of promoting brand name boots, they will most likely be trademarked. This won't be a problem once you have joined relevant affiliate programs, as they will supply the images.

Just be mindful of the fact that initially, your images will just have to be generic boots, no fancy named brands.

That certainly is niche! Could it be too niche?

Hi! I want to choose my niche but I have so many things in my mind that I have to choose from. I am passionate about helping people about opening a platform for business people to market their business in my site. and on the hand I want to make with pay per click business, the list is endless. anyone help me to choose the right niche.
Reply
PLaux-KLaux Premium
Hi! To narrow your Niche down, 1st determine what are you most passionate about. If it helps, write down a list to make it easier to focus. Make sure that it is something you love. The more passionate you are about the topic, the more that you will be able to find content to write about. Next, write down, different questions that you can break it down into, to answer.

Niche Example: How to make Candles
- How to make Container Candles
- How to make Pillar Candles
- How to make Votive Candles
- How to make a Candle with Paraffin Wax
- How to make a Candle with Soy Wax
- How to make a Candle with Palm Wax
- Different types of Candle Wicks
- Are Wood Wicks better?
- Why you should never color Candles with Crayons
- Is it safe to add Glitter into a Candle?
etc...

The more topics you can think of for your Niche's that you are considering, the easier it will be to write an article for. At the end, whichever Niche you can think of more topics for, would be a good place to start. You can always add another Website later, once your 1st Website has been built and has Traffic flowing in.

Hi , everyone, I have some doubts about the starter membership as I don't seem to find anything specific enough about it.

- After the 7 days are over will I still be able to be a starter member if I don't upgrade to premium within the 7 days?
- If so, for how long and what specifically will I have access to and what will I not?

I currently don't have an international Visa/master credit card only a local one, I've already ordered one from the bank and it's being sent to me, so it's going to take a few days to be able to use it for this.

Had I known I only had 7 days of community access I wouldn't have joined just yet. People don't seem to specify this when they promote this website. All they say it's free to join. It's a bit disappointing to find out you have such a limited time of free access only after you've already joined. I don't find anything specific about this on this website.

So again, my doubts are:
- After the 7 days are over will I still be able to be a starter member if I don't upgrade to premium within the 7 days?
- If so, for how long and what specifically will I have access to and what will I not?

Thank you.

You can remain a starter member for as long as you like. But, you will normally lose your free site after 6 months. By the 6 months point, you should be ready to go premium or this isn't for you.

You will not have access to chat and many other awesome benefits until you go premium.

Take your time and try things out and become premium when you see that it is the best way to go.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the reply and the info. I'm going to see what I can do.

PS: I think I made it clear that it's a credit card issue (which should be solved under a month) and that It's not a "I don't have enough money" issue. I am fully aware of what this entails.

The $19 first month of premium goes away after your first 7 days, from my understanding.

I've read, in several places, that the starter account is for as long as you like ... but then, I've also read that it's also just for 6 months. Six months should be plenty of time to decide on premium or not,

I've read quite a few Promotional Sites for WA since joining. There are some who mention the 7 day period for Starters, while others avoid the topic. If you are sure you want to go Premium when your Card comes in the Mail, be sure to take full advantage of the 7 Days Trial just in case. Remember to ask questions if you need it!

There are quite a few things that I wish a Starter Member didn't lose out on.

I have chosen my niche within the health and fitness industry and there are three products within the industry that I will be promoting. 1. belly fat burning product to consume before bedtime. 2. A health cookbook. 3. Yoga as a means of exercise for adults of all ages.12 week video program.
Would it be possible to promote these three products simultaneously and how do you think it can be done ? Hope I have not bitten off more than I can chew but I thought it could work well as one niche.
Reply
Kyle Premium
I wouldn't decide on what you will be promoting until you have your content first. Your promotions will be based on your content and what is relevant based on the context of your content.

You will get there as you go through the training, the first focus with your website is to build out the foundation, the content and get rankings. Once you have rankings and traffic then you can focus on what you are going to promote.

There are 10,000's of affiliate programs and millions of products you are going to be able to promote as an affiliate, don't ever worry about there being nothing to promote within a given niche. There will likely be 100's if not 1,000's of things you can promote. ;)

There is no sense in putting to much thought into what you are going to promote until you have content in place and an audience to promote to. You will definitely get there though!

RE: your niche

What aspect of the health/fitness niche do you want to help
people with? There are literally 1,000's of niches within these categories and you will want to narrow it down.

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)
Reply
LouiseBT Premium
Hiya Claudette

I recommend starting with just one focus and then branching out once that one area is successful.

If you could do all three and connect them all for belly fat burning/reduction that would work better. That means your niche would be belly fat reduction.

But promoting them as 1. Belly fat 2. A health cookbook and 3. Yoga would mean 3 niches.

Will be interesting to see what other members say, but that is my take.

Wishing you every success!

Blessings

Question.. Is there a feature in any of the memberships that provides "sales funnel" creation?
Reply
Aussiemuso Premium
Hi Lincoln, I'm new but I'm sure I saw somewhere that it isn't available here. You would have to look at what is on offer to add to your website.

One of the members was saying in his blog this morning, and he is very experienced that a funnel will only work once you have established credibility with helpful, informative content. Until then it is wasted money, although it seems faster.

If you are new to WA perhaps best to put you question in the question bar up the top and read posts from the community.

I looked at funnels before I came to WA and am now glad I'm taking a more stable route. They can be very expensive and as everyone is buying the same one as you, you will have many competitors.

Quality content will get you the traffic you desire. Give it time perhaps.
Hope this helps.

Hi - as a free starter member, you only have access to a few themes, and actually, it is better to start with something simple, so you don't get confused during the training. Remember, it will be a while before anybody sees your site, so it doesn't matter what it looks like at this stage.

If you want to change, log in to your Word Press, and go to Appearance, then themes. If you see any you like, click install, then activate.

Hi - people will find your website by the content you add, not by how it looks. There isn't anything you can do as regards your theme unless you are prepared to upgrade to premium when you have a choice of over 7000!

Have you tried customising the theme? You can usually swap the words and photos that were on there to start with, just to make it more relevant. Go to Appearance, then Customize.

I'm going to be blunt as I am in the information gathering stage and deciding whether or not to purchase premium. If, for some reason at some stage one decides to leave AW I assume that you would not be able to continue with the website/s you have developed. Can someone advise? Also, can one cancel membership without penalty at any time?

Thanks, Martine :)

You can cancel at any time, but you can't get your money back if you stop. For example, if you pay for a year and you decide after 3 months that you want to stop, you can't get your money back. On the other hand, this works as a great commitment device to keep working since you've paid anyway.

If you go Premium and you decide you want to cancel, you can't go back to Starter, but you can move your sites elsewhere.

Yes, you can earn money on the free membership. In saying this, generating money in the first week or month prior as a Starter is like having an your introduction course to becoming a surgeon and expecting to perform surgery within the first month.

The first month is typically your foundation building stage. In order to build a website that earns you consistent revenue, you need this foundation. After this, you are going to start seeing traffic and as you build this out, there are many different ways in which you can generate revenue.

Personally it took me into my 3rd month of busting my butt to make my first dollar online, by month 6 though I was making consistent income and by the year mark, I was almost full time.

But guess what would have happened if I quit during those first two "trying" months or had instant revenue expectations. I would not be where I am at today (going on 17 years full time!). Just wanted to put things into perspective for you.

I am in this journey with you, so is the community here at WA. If you want to jump in, work hard, take action, and persist.

You will have some awesome things accomplished by the time you finish just the first 10 lessons of the getting started training and you will be prepared to build a very successful business online within the Premium membership.

But do upgrade at your own pace and take action on the tasks. Action is what will lead you to success!

Hi Martine

Welcome to WA - great questions, let me see if I can answer them for you:

A1 Siterubix and WA work hand in hand. Your 2 free SiteRubix sites come as part of your free membership with WA. Once you go Premium with WA you have access to 25 free SiteRubix websites - this is great for starting a new site, testing themes and niches etc..

A2 You can purchase your domain anywhere and redirect it to WA for hosting, or host elsewhere if you choose. I have kept everything in one place (within WA) because everything I need is here. I bought my domains through WA and host my sites here - the support is amazing.

In response to your comment: I am not techy at all and am finding the WordPress sites to be great to work with :-) You can make your site as simple or as techy as you choose :-)

WA is an awesome platform which is why everything I do online is kept within the platform.

Ask EVERY question you have. If you stick around, you'll see that the community here is great.
That's the #1 reason I love this platform. Most people love answering questions, so don't worry about that.

What exactly do you mean by "apply your domain to your website via WA"?
You can have a completely separate site. You can host it somewhere else without any connection to WA. And you can apply everything you learn here to your site.

Hmmm...not sure I know what I mean...haha.
Yes, I'm finding out how helpful people are on here and I think I might have even helped others already which is nice.

If you're not sure you want to go Premium, just stay on the Starter for now. Finish the level 1 training and then focus on writing.
In a couple of months, if you want to keep going, go to Premium then. It's better than going now and feeling like you made a bad choice.

You can only use a SiteRubix site if you are a free member. Most members who pay for a premium account also want their own domain. You can buy one here at WA (which is often just 2 or 3 dollars more but it is much, much easier since you don't have to transfer it over), or you can buy one anywhere else. If you buy it here you get the hosting included however and there are no upsells unlike Go Daddy and other places.

We can use SiteRubix sites as Premium members too. I see long-standing members here doing test sites that way before buying domains.

But she means that if you're a free member, you can only use a Siterubix site, you can't host your own domain.
Kind of confusing when you read it, huh? I had to read it a couple of times before I realise it.

Two ideas for my niche:
- Helping patients and families become more informed about their choices/options approaching hospital discharge before the day of discharge. The questions they should be asking and the questions they may want to consider before day of discharge. Thoughts? I am not sure how to simplify?

- Promoting an eco-friendly lifestyle. Thoughts? Too simple?

Oh ok, I think I get you now. I thought your concept had been simplified, but you were talking more about the fact that the idea requires words i.e. asking questions upon discharge. If I'm correct in this assumption, my advice is to write it and then edit. It's amazing how much one can cull through repeated edits.

I like the hospital discharge one. I don't see a need to simplify it; I would go all in and write everything there is to know on the topic. Make it the go-to resource for your target audience.

The eco-friendly lifestyle niche could definitely work as well, I'm just worried the competition is so stiff you might not have success for quite awhile. This is just a guess, I could be totally wrong.

If you need any more clarification/thoughts, just let me know!

Hello, guys, I need your help which will need a creative way of thinking. I think one of the good ways to find your niche is a knowing on what you believe and with what you had actions. I mean not only interests, because it can be a fiction in our minds :) so I understood that I like adrenaline, its a skydive, diving, fast speed. But I don't have any idea how to connect all these things in some logical aspect. If you agree or also finding your niche, let's discuss:)

I feel you on this. How about model airplanes, model cars both gas/electric. Also model airplanes and drones. Big this time of year in this last quarter till Christmas!!! For the skydiver in you add skydiving equipment for the true adrenaline junkie.

Thank you, Joseph, actually its good idea, about drones:) but immediately is a new question about competitors. Do you find a niche for yourself?

First question: Does anyone have any advice on how to maintain your personal privacy while still being personal and relatable in your blogs? I'm drawing from my experiences with my family, but keeping their privacy is definitely a priority.

Second Question: Does anyone know of a good reputable source for great stock photos (free or reasonable priced)?

Many Thanks!!!!

That is something that you are in full control of, and you can do what you are comfortable with. Many of the most successful bloggers out there have used aliases (pen names) and that is completely fine, or you could just use your first name, or a nickname.

And when you engage people with your content, you want to be relatable.

Hi Kim,

I too have often wondered about my family and relatives' privacy. As you become more comfortable behind the keyboard you will naturally find ways of not mentioning names or releasing too much information to the public.

The last thing I want is my uncle breathing down the back of my neck, making sure I don't share one of the embarrassing moments of his life (and believe me he has a bunch I could share)

LOL

I have found that having someone proofread my more personal articles prior to posting them helps me quite a bit, a second opinion is always more keen than the original author, and can also make sure privacy is maintained to its utmost.

Hope this helps, Calvin

Hi - first of all, don't be rushing ahead. The training is laid out in a specific order to build up your website to a genuine online business. Its a slow and steady process. By following the training step by step and completing each task as you are asked to do so, you will have built your website by the end of lesson 4.

Health is a very broad and competitive niche, so ideally you need to narrow it down so as to be seen as an authority on a particular subject. However, not so narrow as to only focus on one product. You can promote lots of different products.

When you apply to join an affiliate program, they will inspect your website to make sure it is suitable, before you get accepted. This means having lots of original content which you have written about your niche.

So, your first steps are to follow the training and build your website. From then on, write lots of articles about your niche. Finally, you can apply to join affiliate programs and promote products.

This is not a get rich quick scheme and takes time, hard work and patience.

Hi my fellow Wealthy Affiliates,

I am in the process of deciding whether to choose my own niche or whether to go down the path of promoting WA as my niche. I have a question out of curiosity for those who have started their business/es already....

Have you found that you have had more financial success online through promoting one-time purchase products or, have you had more success through promoting subscription-based products and services? i.e training courses, platforms, programs etc.

Would love to hear your feedback on this :)

There are many different ways to earn money from your websites. Answering which one would do best is very difficult. So much of our success depends on our own abilities and strengths. One person may do well with products another with subscriptions. A person with great marketing skills will most likely make good money from sites based on ecommerce and not blogging. Excellent writers will do better with blogging.
In the the end it all depends on you and your own personal skills and your ability to focus. Jim

I've chosen a particular name for my business/brand called Rockfeet, the intention of the business being to review rock climbing shoes to help people find shoes that will rock their feet! Check out my barebones website here: https://rockfeet.siterubix.com

I did a quick google search and found that there is a shop in Sri Lanka called Rockfeet which sells shoes (not specifically climbing shoes though) and they have a facebook page. Would there by any conflict with the naming here or would it be okay to leave it as it is.. Just don't want to be caught out in the future!
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
Any time you choose a name that is already in use you run the risk of legal issues later on. It might not happen if they are a small company -- it may not be worth it to them unless you start marketing in Sri Lanka -- but the possibility is always there. Something to consider.
Reply
yukih Premium
Thanks for that AJ. I might change the name a little just in case.

Also, I just quickly checked international copyright law and protection of names falls under trademarks. I also did a search for trademarks and Rockfeet is not taken by anyone so I could choose to trademark this but I don't see it as high risk or necessary right now so I think I will leave it. I also think Rockfeet has the best ring to it, or I believe in it the most so I think I will consider trademarking it once it is a bit more established.

Hi there;
I already have a website where I have Woo Commerce and a few MP3s that I made a number of years ago. I have thought of adding to it somehow, maybe as an Affiliate to add more products, as I am now "75" and no longer create guided meditations or teach meditation. Unfortunately, I know almost nothing about Affiliate marketing and am not interested any longer in working more than a couple hours a day. However, I still need to make some money and would prefer doing it with products I believe in.
Can you give me an idea of where I start with this program? I need to know where to find products and add products, what does so many days of cookies mean, and how to get traffic?
These questions would be after building the website.
Also, does this cost 19.00 a month??
Thanks so much,
Jackie

Yes, you can transfer any domains that you like over, or you can simply update your DNS and point them to our hosting (if you are looking to use to use the hosting here.

As for what you promote, I would recommend that you promote what is best and most cost efficient for your audience. You will never establish a brand online if you treat your audience as a mechanism to make money, rather you need to do what is right for them and you will create a long term and sustainable brand.

The Managed Wordpress hosting you have access to here at WA is matched by very few hosts in the industry in terms of quality, security, speed, and support. It definitely is not a budget host like the other shared hosting companies out there. The hosting you get here at WA is comparable to $250 per MONTH hosting packages.

You can learn more about it here:

http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/hosting/

You can host up to 25 of your own domains and 25 free .siterubix.com websites on your Premium hosting platform here at WA.

Why would I choose a niche if I can go all in???!!!!!!!
I'm not into Affiliate Marketing even though I like it, but I will explain to you all "Affiliate Marketers" how to GO ALL IN instead of one niche>>>
Now, most of the market is shifting to E-commerce which means the data is easier to collect throughout the tools from the websites that offer affiliate marketing, as a result, you can gather all the date from these website and compare them on your website.
Every customer will pick a product from your site will be directed to the E-commerce that provides it, and you will get your percentage and you will get a lot of traffic because you are trustworthy and will provide the cheapest prices, both sides win which is the most profitable business.

Good luck for you all, and I gotta work on website,

sincerely,
Sohib

Reply

Hey Sohib,

You have somewhat of a grasp of how affiliate marketing works, but I think you might want to do a little more homework (or take the training here), to learn how to be successful at it if this is what you are planning on doing.

Don't be miss guided, not every visitor to your website is going to click on an affiliate link, in fact most will not! Equally important the looks of your website is not all the important until you start getting daily traffic. However, the best thing you can do for your website is to keep adding content (great quality and helpful to the other members of your niche).

The more content you can add to your website the more authority you will gain with the search engines (improving your ranking potential). this works for just about any online business model, not just affiliate marketing!

The key to affiliate marketing is great content to attract visitors through free marketing strategies. Then you must gain the trust of those visitors through the same great content that also will get you ranked in the search engines.

Learn while you earn is the only way to go!

Ecommerce is certainly one direction that you can head, however there is a lot more overhead, many more risks, and way more people fail in this space simply because they are thrown into selling products that are usually dropshipped, have slow delivery and low quality.

We recommend ecommerce for folks with an established sales record and brand already, and we certainly help LOTS of people with their active stores.

Could someone help me? Sorry this is a long post 🤦‍♀️
How do we approach companies or is it easy to approach companies to join their affiliate program and become an affiliate marketer?
Are people really interested in what I have to say? If say at the moment I’m really passionate about my Bible study and quiet time can that be a niche? I am passionate about zero waste living which I’ve previously created a website around and I’m also just passionate about being a stay at home mum and unschooling my daughter so I’m thinking of using these as a niche.
I just don’t want to feel like the things I’m passionate about become a job which in turn make me lose passion about them, does that make sense? I guess I’m scared about having to constantly blog and turn out information and photographs about something I’m passionate about instead of actually enjoying something I’m passionate about because I have to blog about it and constantly write or photograph it and lose the immersion in the thing im passionate about or maybe because I’m like old school I’m not that comfortable constantly being on my phone whilst doing something I really love...
Sorry that was a lot of writing diarrhoea but I’d appreciate your guys help or thoughts and thank you so much for all the wealthy affiliate community and support, love Colette

Hi Vitality. This is Kristina right now, not Paul. But, I was using the Privacy Policy Template through the Site Content area. Which I clicked Publish, I entered the Website to Link it to, chose "Page" as it mentioned, and then entered to Publish it under as "admin". It "said" that it Published, but now there are 2 issues.

1) What Published was NOT the same Privacy Policy Template that I was editing. It was a completely different Template entirely, that had a lot of empty fields.
2) I can only get to this Page inside my Website Backdoor (it says that it's been Published), but when I go to my Website, the Link says that the Page cannot be found and there is nothing there.

I'm very confused about what the issue is.

H Kristina,

I am not sure but it sounds to me like you did not put your "Privacy Policy Page into a menu. This is how you get a post or a page to appear onto the actual site all you did was loaded the page into the back office (dashboard) of your site now you need to figure out where you want it to appear.

If my memory serves me correctly this is taught in level 1, lesson 7 or 8, pretty sure it is in 7. this is something you need to learn and remember because it is a basic function that you will be doing often in your website's daily operations.

Good luck and if you can't figure it out send me a Pm and I will assist you further!

Thank you for the help. But this wasn't the issue. I knew how to place it into my Menu. The issue was even if I typed in "(my website).com/privacy-policy", it would tell me "Oops, cannot load page".

The issue I found was that I'm thinking either Wordpress itself, or the Theme might have come with an Included Privacy Policy (just like it comes with an included "Sample Page" and "Sample Comment"), so it was attempting to post 2 different Privacy Policies to the same URL. It ended up sorting itself out (it took about an hour and a half to show up) and turned my Privacy Policy that I created from the Template into "(my website).com/privacy-policy-2" and the other Policy Template was using the original link.

I was able to go into my Back Office and remove the Theme Privacy Policy Template and switch mine that I edited into the correct URL Link.

Issue has been fixed, thank you all who tried to help!

I have a passion for, and a lot of experience and expertise in, the subject of organic foods/cooking, as well as natural and organic personal care products, household products, pet products, etc. I get the impression that is too broad for a niche, though. Would it be best to pick one type of food? That seems too narrow to me, but this is all so new to me. Thanks.

Organic food and Natural products are huge categories ... A niche that you might do well at are Organic Pet Products or Personal Care Organically or Organic Receipts for Weight Loss ... something that the viewer can directly relate to ... People do not have time to read through your content for what they want. Be as specific as possible and use multiple sites if necessary if you wish to feature more than one product line or topic.

You will need to buy the domain names but they are only $13.99 per year ... Word of advice though, start with one only ... once it is generating income start on the second one, etc. Do not spread yourself too thin, I did that when I first started and it was not a pretty sight .... Hi Kay, my niche is also common and there's heaps of related sites already, but I think everyone has his own way of classifying things and how you go about writing your content still makes it unique. You can also look at peoples comments and queries about the topic and come up with something new.
Hope this helps. Cheers

There's only 1 you, Kim. It's your voice, your views, your tone, your energy, your ways. Everything in life has already been done, but not by you.

Even when other people talk and write about your niche, there's room for you. Because you'll find your own tribe, your own people who prefer to hear it from you. Maybe because they trust you more. Or because they like the way you say things better. Or because your choices of topics resonate better with them.

Find your voice and you'll find your audience. It takes time, but they'll come to you if you keep calling them.

Good luck.

I'm in need of some help on my privacy page. I have tried to copy my url and paste it where it shows up as a link or in blue like shown in the video but every time I try to do this it only paste in black with no url link.
Reply

The copy and paste should work ... be sure you only select the url information (no extra spaces or characters) and then paste into the document ... remove the old text template data so only your new url is present in that space. If you can send the url of the page we might be able to determine what has happened.

Hi, I have two questions.

If the About me is a post versus a page, as you create more posts, it will be harder to find, no?

Also, how do you manage comments, or if they aren't managed, what if you get unprofessional comments and also manage the expectation of commenters to get responses.

I am inclined to be have my about me as a page, so that it stays at top and also to be selective on where comments are allowed.

However, I would appreciate guidance based on experience in both these areas.

I might also add, my preference would be to limit comments initially so that I can grow the website, realizing that might be a catch -22.

Thank you in advance.

Best,
Abette

You're right: your 'about me' should be a page, not a post.

Comments need to be approved first, so you can always edit or delete them before you publish. You can do that through the Comments area here at WA or through your Wordpress dashboard.

Comments help your website grow, because search engines love engagement and interaction. It will give your website better ranking.
Reply
djriver Premium
Hi. Yeah I prefer my "About Me" as a page also. The older training had us do it that way. But I see the point of allowing comments. You can allow comments on a page too though.

If you make the About me page a post you can still add it to the menu which you will learn to do in lesson 8 of the first course.

Whether or not you want comments is entirely up to you. One thing I will mention. The chances of your website being found this early on is really slim, so I wouldn't worry about how things appear yet.

Also in settings you can set up comments to have to be moderated by you before they show up under discussions.

If you don't have the budget to upgrade at the moment, that is completely fine. You should work through the Getting Started training (within the "Get Started Here" button in the menu) and take action.

By lesson 4 you are going to have your own niche website up and running. This is the starting point of your business and is the foundation that is going to lead you to success down the road.

When you are ready to upgrade, I know you are going to absolutely love it but at your own pace.

Why have you not remedied the inability to watch videos on the site? I have emailed both Kyle and Carson about this. Where the video should be, in its place is "This video is not authorized to be embedded here". Please fix this as it frustrating! I want to start the training but can't. If there are plugins on my end that might interfere, let me know what they might be. But the learn more link says that domain restrictions need to be turned on. Please see to this or let me know why I can't watch these videos.

Hi Oliver, with the new breed of browser most people are after quick results - so they now show you stored results ( cached)
so to get around this for developers try pressing ctrl + f5 when you want to refresh your page and you will bypass the browsers cache, showing you results which are actually there.
I hope you get it sorted

2 questions:

1.) I accidentally published before i did the grammar/spell check. Is there a way that i can do the grammar/spell check in the siterubix editor? (since theres no longer an update button for any changes that i make in the Site- content editor)

2.) Ive updated my about me page in the siterubix editor. but the changes are not displaying when i open it in the site content editor. it still shows the old page.. is that normal?

Click on the websites, from the left bar, the page will take you to a page where you will see all your websites. You will see a section called "my recent content", click on "View all my content" and you will see your post there. You can then click on your publication and it will open within the siterubix editor to make the necessary updates.

Hi! 1) Yes, you can edit it after having been published. the answer below is the easiest.

2) After you made changes, did you hit save? Save. Then refresh. You should see your changes.

Hope that works for you.

Yes, if you open your publication on site content, even when it has been already published, you still will be able to edit. There's a grammar check icon on the top of the editor. After editing and making corrections you must publish again, otherwise your changes will not display on your post.

i guess its just wierd.. when i open the site in the in the "sitecontent" editor, it shows me my first draft that i didnt mean to pubish. but when i press "published: edit here" it takes me to the siterubix editor, where it is the revised version. & it previews properly.. i guess its ok if its displaying improperly in only 1 editor... i just really wish i could grammar spell check .. idk
Reply

Do this: Open your Word Press publication (siterubix) and copy the publication back to the sitecontent, check the grammar, save, and publish. This way you will have the same content in both places. Remember, you are on the web enviroment. If you want to see the changes on other pages that are already open you need to press F5 on your keyboard or refresh the pages.

I am still in the process of learning so, I have a question in lesson number 2 regarding affiliation. Would WA cover all our affiliation to different companies like amazon, eBay, aliexpress, Nike, etc.? Because there a lot more compnaies that I could be affiliated too. If WA could affiliated me to all of these companies, do I still need to to them?

Well, I still don't know how to delete my messages in order to correct the missing word. Any, I think my question is clear. Do we need to affiliate to all of these companies individually or WA could do this task for me.

You would need to apply to each and have them accept you. This is normal as some want to make sure that your website covers the niche for products they are opening to affiliates, etc.

There are some affiliate networks that you can sign up to that have a wide variety of products to promote, and once you have registered that opens the door to sign up with many vendors...

Even then, each vendor will review and approve you, but at least your foot is in the door so to speak. I hope this answers your question...

Cheers!

Hi Lucy,

If we want to edit or delete a comment have a look at the image.

Make your edits and then click Save.

As for applying to affiliate and associate programs, we need to do that ourselves.

WA makes it easier for us to accomplish that, check out;

Affiliate programs, in the lefthand menu of your WA home page.

By signing up to WA you are an affiliate of wealthy Affiliate by default no need to have to sign up.

Click the $ icon on your navigation menu bar.

Or go here;

I hope that this helps, the best thing to do is follow the training it is step by step and you will attain all the necessary knowledge as you go.

Cyber Security is one thing I find refreshing here on WA.

Unfortunately the bad guys know how to do things that people don't even think about or comprehend so online safety is important.

You're not alone.

Let me ask you a question.

Do you have a phone that allows internet?

If so, you have access to this system.

You do NOT need a laptop or desktop.

First, go to your phone and look up: On the phone you'll see 3 lines in the upper corner. Click on those lines.

Scroll down.

See "Log In"

This training is phone friendly. :-)

Check it out.

A Few things to keep in mind.

You can still set the website up from any computer. The website is not actually kept on your own computer. It is stored at Wealthy Affiliate on their servers and then you work on it when you go online.

Of course, I have no idea how often you get to a computer, or how long it will be until you get a new computer or get yours fixed?

Level 1 Lesson 9 Understanding Keywords--
I was kinda surprised that this was not very in depth. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall any mention of "buyer intent" keywords, and longtail keywords. I saw examples of low competition keywords, but with little to no buyer intent, and/or very little search volume. I'm not clear as to how creating content around those type of keywords can be monetized in such a way that it would be worth it. Will keyword research be covered more in depth, using the Jaaxy keyword tool, in a later lesson?
Reply

Yes, there is course2, affiliate Bootcamp if you are going to money make online and/or promoting wealthy affiliate, course3 is basically if you choose any other niche. There is keywords, creating content, using social platforms and much more and more in-depth. There are also LOTS of training outside of these courses and lessons and live webinars. I had pretty similar feelings as you but I figured out I was wrong. WA community is also full of people willing to help each other

Baby steps. When creating a new site from scratch you will likely never rank for the more popular keywords with lots of traffic; the competition is much greater with well established sites. That's why we start with the focus on smaller words with minimal competition that you have a better chance with. As your site matures and Google can see you are putting out quality content on a regular basis, and doing well with the small traffic you do have, they will start moving you up in rankings where you have a better shot at the bigger words... it's all about building trust with Google and your readers at this point. Trust the system; Kyle and the gang know what they're doing :-)

What @DianeScorpio is saying is that if the website has the wrong name then it's down to the domain name, so you have to purchase a new one.

On the posts matter, when you get a new domain, you transfer the posts to that one and delete them from the old one. Infact take the old website down and don't use it, leave it blank. Activate the standard theme (i.e. Twentynineteen in Wordpress) and leave it, if you don't want to use it.

As for posts, i always save them on my hard-drive in pages/word.

there are some things im interested in writing content about, but i don't seem to find affiliate programs with products related to those interests. is it better to choose your niche "backwards" and look for products/affiliate programs and then based on that choose your niche? (this is likely what the user with the football snacks niche did). or should i just try to find affiliate programs elsewhere and or just use ones that are only somewhat related to my niche? thanks
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
You can do it either way. If you choose the product first path, however, you may run into a bigger issue.

In order for any site to be successful you will need loads of content -- dozens, if not hundreds of articles. So, the real question is, if you based your site on a product, 1) is there enough information there to create that much content about it, and 2) can you create that amount of content without burning out before you're done?

Honestly, most people can't. That's why we recommend choosing a niche you are passionate about. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you are more about selling an ideology than products. That means you'll probably need to look at books, courses and event tickets to promote as an affiliate.

Find the people and/or brands who sell those and check if they have an affiliate program. If not, contact them and ask them if they would be interested in working with you and negotiate a percentage.

Or create your own books and/or courses and sell those.

Another niche I was considering is pet clothing and accessories. Thank you in advance for your input.

I think if you start by blogging about anti aging, and give tips and advice to your readers, then sell your products, I am sure you will get buyers.

AJTrimble1 Premium
Welcome, Nancy. You have certainly come to the right place.

First, realize that ANY niche can be a good niche -- yes, even the completely saturated ones. Some are easier than others, of course, but if it is your passion you can make any of them work.

Here's the trick...

Regardless of the niche, you likely cannot just come at it with just another generic "me, too" site. You will get crushed by the existing competition. For example, let's say your niche was "books". Do you think for once second you are going to beat Amazon at that game?

Instead, take some time to brainstorm what makes you unique. Think about what you can offer than no one else is offering. It might be a special level of knowledge. Your personal experience. Perhaps you have some kind of inside track within that niche. Whatever.

Read my latest WA blog post ("How to Destroy Your Competition") where I talk about this idea. If you can find a way to differentiate yourself from the rest of the pack, then you will have a winning strategy no matter which niche you go into.

Hope this helps :-)

Hi - yes, it could be considered a niche, but if the goal of your site is to monetize it, then choosing budget items is not the best way to go.

For example, Amazon pays a 4.5% commission on baby products. So, if you promote an item at $10, you would earn $0.45. This means you would need to sell 23 items just to make $10.

That is why it is important to not go too narrow with your selection. It must be narrow enough to attract your target audience ,but not so narrow that you run out of content to write or products to sell. Jim

A niche can be a group of products. It doesn't have to be just one. The key is that you are targeting a group of people. So instead of just selling something like "scissors", your niche could be something like "scrapbooking for grandmothers", or "DIY crafts for kids".

You are a good teacher/coach Kyle. I'm done with my lesson 8/10 I thought it will be difficult but you make things more and more easier. The video gave me a problem but that didn't make me worry your notes are very precise. Thank you very much I made a good choice by joining WA community. There is a lot I've leant in less than 24 hrs. Hi!
Im compleetely new to all this :)
My niche is a rather new one to, I want to promote and help sell more nature friendly products around, but most companies that exist with products fitting my niche, dont have affiliate programs yet. Anyone know how I can create affiliate links to the products i want to sell ( with the shops permission off course). Is there a way I can be more proactive and promote this sollution to help them sell more? ( Im only here for that project, not to sell whatever, so I understand its easier to choose something with an existing program, but that is not an option for me ;)
Thanks in advance!

Hi - I am in the natural medicine niche and there are tons of natural products/supplements/services out there that do have affiliate programs set up.

If you are looking to work with companies that do not yet have affiliate programs set up, you might want to take a look/listen to the info in this link: http://www.smbtrendwire.com/2010/01/26/affiliate-programs-what-every-small-business-should-know/

The info there deals with helping small business owners to set up affiliate marketing for their products/services.

Here is another link detailing some affiliate marketing software small businesses can make use of: https://www.leaddyno.com/

Good luck!

Cool niche and I'm sure there's a market for it! Might it be an idea to write about and promote certain nature friendly articles that you find on (for example) Amazon? They do have an affiliate program if I'm not mistaken.

It is a very good question! I appreciate your focus on your niche. :-)

Nature friendly products seems like an excellent niche and I am surprised that there are no affiliate programs for it. I usually look for affiliate programs by using the search query "product name(or type) + affiliate program". For example if I am looking for affiliate products for skin care I type in "skin care affiliate programs", without the quotes of course.

I used the term "Eco-friendly affiliate programs" and got a bunch of affiliate programs in the search results.

If you have done so already and still didn't find anything to your liking, then let me tell you a bit more about choosing affiliate programs.

Firstly, I suggest sticking to established affiliate programs like Amazon, CJ, Awin and others listed here under Affiliate Programs. The reason being that there will never be any issue with the actual commission payouts once you start making sales. I did read in your comment that you may not consider this as an option, but you could always look for similar products if you cannot find the exact products that you're looking for.

On the other hand if you approach those who do not have affiliate programs there will be no assurance of receiving payouts even if they agree to making you an affiliate.

Another option which may be too advanced if you're a beginner, is to source your own products and sell them on your site. This will need an eCommerce setup on your site as well as a constant stream of traffic to promote to, unless you use paid advertising to drive traffic.

Hope this makes sense. Please feel free to ask any more questions.

I have acquired over 400 affiliates from CJ affiliates it has lots of companies that anyone can get approval for that are perfect for you niche. It has all the steps for anyone to be able to acquire the 412 and growing affiliate list. I will add it here for you let me know if you have any questions

Best of Luck.

Jonathon... I still have at least one more of the list parts to add that has more wellness, health & wellness and Nutritional supplements etc. Two good ones are Your Supper and Botanic Choice just off of the top of my head. Will try to have the other list done today or tomorrow and will add the link for it to the above blog it should appear when refreshed after I do. And all of the list and this blog can be found on my profile page.

I know the free period ends and my site has been up for six months, it is deleted. If I decide to go premium after it is deleted, am I able to redo everything I previously did and bring it back up to when i had it? Is it possible to bring in some income within th first 6 months on free account?

I would imagine that once it’s deleted then it’s gone forever. Obviously you can recreate it but it is essentially a new site then and loses any history with google. You can definitely make income in the first 6 months if you work hard

I have followed the training instructions but have found when I view my website the content I have added (About me and privacy policy) is on there but also it says 'systems error' and none of these things show up without me having to navigate the site and look for them. Just wondering if this is something I need to fix now or will we learn more about troubleshooting later on? On Kyle's sample website it automatically shows the posts he has created without having to look for it and it doesn't have things like 'oooops there is no content' or 'systems error' when I actually do have content which is there when you look for it? It has been like this for a few days so isn't corrected by refreshing the website.

Could you send the url to your site so I can see the errors you're talking about?

unless you are using the same theme as Kyle is then you will get different results - as there are over 7000 to choose from then some may not work as well as others or be as compatable with plugins.
where does it say systems error - could you take a screen shot.
so when you go to your home page the blog roll does not appear?
have you set your site as a home page rather than a blog roll - or is this set by default in your theme -- check appearance - customize - ( have a look around and see if you can find home page - set it to blog roll)
is it something taught later - not really as you can imaging the sorts of errors you can get with over 7000 themes would create a huge amount of work - best to look at the theme home page for these errors as this will be the most up todate info.
if you still cannot fix it you could open a ticket with support to see if they can do anything, but if it is theme related then they will say the same as me above - check the theme home page for solutions
good luck sorting it

I would take your mind off of what you think would sell and put your mind on things you could write about.

How much do you think you could write about scents? I mean, it could actually be an awesome niche, but my point is, do you have much to say on the topic?

What about scarves and gloves? How much content can you create in this area of discussion? With affiliate marketing first comes, educating and informing your readers. Second comes pushing products. If you just want to sell stuff through an online store, you should be looking at eCommerce store platforms. Wordpress has a few themes for eCommerce, however, they aren't exactly built as effectively as say a platform like Shopify, which is solely built as a eCommerce platform.

On the topic of really high prices, I wouldn't let that stop you. It's actually a great opportunity because it means, the less you have to have people buy to get the commissions you need and so a lower "closing ratio". Some people specialise in very expensive products which they make a decent commission off of. This enables them to have lower conversions with bigger commissions from advertisers.

Hi, Cassandra. Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.

To answer your question, any of those might make a good niche, and I have a few things for you to consider first...

A "niche" is simply a fancy term for the topic your website is about. For example, if you wanted to have a site about photography, your niche would, of course, be photography.

Having said that, however, your niche should not be a "product" like you mention here unless that product is so new and unique that people can ONLY get it from you. Instead, it should be a subject you are very passionate about and want to share with or teach to others. Then the product just becomes a part of that. Make sense?

So, think about the things you are passionate about. Perhaps a hobby or interest you have. Maybe special knowledge that not a lot of people know. And so on.

As you will see as you go through the training, the affiliate marketing business model is based on creating content that your potential audience is searching for. As such, you will be writing dozens -- or eventually even hundreds -- of articles about your niche.

Now ask yourself, are you passionate enough to create that much content about colognes, perfumes, hats, and gloves without getting bored or burned out?

If the answer is yes, then move forward with your plan. If not, however, you need to rethink your strategy. Perhaps you could come up with a niche (topic) that would allow you to recommend all of them. Or you might just decide to do something different that you are interested in.

Think about what you can bring that is different and unique.

Hope this helps :-)

Hi, I suggest you go through the training to learn how to choose a niche. It would be ideal if it is something you are passionate about. You want to choose a niche that other people are interested in. You want to be able to help them with questions/problems in that niche. Ask yourself this, "If I choose this niche will I be able to write lots of valuable content for my readers? Maybe up to 300 articles?"

Lol, there's no rush hun.

I would suggest to work through the training and get a feel of what it is you will be doing and then make a decision on what your niche will be.

You want it to be something you are passionate about, that way you are more convincing and knowledgeable to your subscribers.
In all honesty the price is irrelevant if you have the TRUST of the one reading your content you will be able to sell anything

Go through the training and I promise you this, sticking to it, asking questions about it and reaching out to this community you will be right where you need to be.

Speaking for self, I got ahead of myself which in the end leaded me to having to do more work in the end.

The way things are set up here its nearly impossible to fail, the only way to fail is by giving up and well, there are numerous people willing and capable of helping you to succeed, I hope that helps.

Cologne for men, or perfume for women could be a great niche! Finding a good niche seems like a tough task, but it's actually pretty easy. Actually, ANY niche can make money, so you definitely should not worry if your niche is profitable or not. As far as competition goes, that's also something to not worry about. If there's competition, it just means people are making money. That means you can make some too! As time progresses, new products come out, new technology is introduced, new ideas formed, and each change is an opportunity for "the new kid" to get a foothold and overtake established websites.

So the big question is not "what" is going to make money, but "what do you want to make money with?"

In other words, what are your own interests?
What do you think would be interesting to research and write about?
What do you want to help people with?

A good sentence to help you decide your niche is "I want to help people _____"

Helping people is the best way to make money in any business. Everyone wins. Short of that, pick something that you just find interesting.

There are literally thousands of affiliate programs, products, and ways to make money in any niche or industry if you get creative. All of that will come into focus in Level 3 of your training, so for now, we just need to look at getting your topic chosen, your website built, and then start creating awesome content for your business!

Hi All,
I am looking at a particular Niche however, all the affiliate sites that I go to say that they require a website to already be built and to have quite high traffic before they will allow a new affiliate to sign up :-(
Is this normal...is it best to just drop this niche and start looking at others?

TIA

Terry

Hi - all affiliate programs will have their own terms and conditions, regardless of the niche. To be honest, nearly all of them will inspect your website before deciding whether or not to approve you. (Other than Amazon, which is not so picky, but does have some drawbacks).

If you follow the training step by step, joining affiliate programs is not covered until Level 3, by which time you will have built your website and have some content on it. There is no point trying to rush the process. The more content you have on your website, the more you are likely to be accepted.

I have found myself that it is quite easy to get apply and be accepted into an affiliate network itself without having much traffic yet, however some advertisers manually approve individual applications. I have been denied a few programs due to not having enough traffic, however, I have also been approved by a few great advertisers! What I would do is apply anyway! you won't know until you try and there isn't anything stopping you from finding other advertisers that will accept you apps for your site the way it is and when traffic increases to your site, re-applying to these desired advertisers.

I have easily spend a day total getting into various Affiliate networks and researching what networks have advertisers that I want to promote. Don't get discourage too quickly!

What is your Niche?

Many require you have a domain age of at least 30 days and have 20+ posts before they will consider it an active blog. The best thing to do is work on your content for a few weeks and build a little traffic and then start shopping the blog around

I am looking at Microsoft Office training to start as this is something I feel is quite specialist and a lot of people are looking for.
I could then start looking at becoming a Microsoft partner selling Office 365

If it something you think you can make money with or is it something you love doing? If it's the latter go with it, if not you won't want to write for it over the next 10-20 years.
