How Will YOU Make Money Online?

Great question!

The reality is that there are many ways to make money online! The problem is that people often get distracted by the "latest and greatest" product or service and they are never able to build a successful (and revenue generating) business as a result.

Today I am going to run you through one of the most fundamental, yet powerful processes of generating revenue online.

It is a proven process, it is one that we use, and one that 100,000's of other Wealthy Affiliate members use. It is also the ultimate "making money" process that worked 5 years ago and it is going to work 5 years from now (and beyond). It is a process that will reveal as much opportunity in the massive online world as you are willing to work for!

It is called Affiliate Marketing.

But, just one thing before you get into the MONEY "stuff"...

The making money part of your business won't happen quite yet.

Before you earn money, you are going to first be focusing on creating your niche website (which will take place in the next two lessons) and are working to get traffic to your website. Without a website, without content, and without traffic, the MONEY part simply doesn't happen.

So don't look at this like a race. You will reach success and a great deal of it, but before you build your own personal SKYSCRAPER of a business, you must first have a solid FOUNDATION to build it on. That is going to be our first goal within the Getting Started training. Cool?

Alright, let's continue on! :)

Below is a video walk-through of today's lesson and the process of "How to Make Money Online - The Process Explained". Just click the PLAY button to watch it!

In the coming days are going to be working through this process and by the end of this Level 1 training alone, you are going to have an awesome foundation in place that will lead you to much greater success.

Task #1: Understand the Make Money Process

There are MANY different ways that you can earn money online and many different ways in which you can build an entire business. The most lucrative and the one that we have been teaching here at Wealthy Affiliate for the past 14 years is Affiliate Marketing.

Below is a diagram outlining the process of making money through affiliate marketing.

There are now over 4 BILLION people online as of 2019 (YOUR audience) and these people are going to search engines, social media, or visiting websites for help all the time.

These people are looking for information, solutions to problems and to buy stuff.

That is where you are going to come in with your website and help these "audiences" by offering them information about what they are looking for. You will be "helping" these people, recommending products/services they can benefit from, and you earn affiliate commissions ($$) as a result.

There are over 550 MILLION products/services that you can promote as an affiliate marketer. The opportunity is incredible and it is only growing!

By Lesson 4 of this course you are going to have your very own "niche" website in place that you will use to connect with your chosen audience and make money with. You will have your very own slice of the internet opportunity.

Task #2: Create (Write Down) Your Financial Goals

You want to earn revenue right? That is great! In order to earn anything however, you need to have some goals in place.

In this task we want you to join in on a "money goals" discussion here at Wealthy Affiliate. You are going to be telling us what your goals are and going forward, we are going to be helping you achieve these very goals!

QUESTION #1: How much money would you be happy earning?

QUESTION #2: How much would you be ecstatic (ie, really excited) earning?

QUESTION #3: And how much TIME are you willing to invest to achieve these goals?

PLEASE make 100% sure that you do not skip this step and you revisit this post regularly when you are in need of some motivation. I can absolutely assure you that if you work hard at this and you are persistent towards these goals, you will achieve them. But ultimately it is UP TO YOU!

JOIN DI$CU$ION: What Are Your "Money" Goals?

In addition to this, it would be wonderful if you commented on someone else's goals they have posted within this thread. Aim to comment on at least TWO people's goals. You likely can network with many other "like minded" people here at Wealthy Affiliate and this is a good way to get your networking efforts rolling. We are a friendly bunch here at WA!

If you have any questions about any aspect of the make money process, feel free to leave them in the comments below.

Awesome, off to the next lesson now where you will be "choosing your niche"!

Completed lesson 7 but am stuck with a problem I haven't shaken since lesson 5 - I can't view my site.

I completed the About Me and Privacy Policy, and when I try to view my site, I am directed to a new page that says:

************
Great News!

The hosting for this domain is all setup and ready to install an awesome website!

Login and build your website in just a few clicks!

************

Clearly I've missed something here. I'm able to get into the back office of my site but can never view it. When I tried to publish my Privacy Policy page just now, I got a 404 message -that the site doesn't exist.

Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong here?

I appreciate the help!!

Hi Joo, thanks for asking.

Yes, somewhat. I did as support suggested but now I'm running into a problem where the page I'm trying to publish (Privacy Policy - my first one, I have nothing else published yet) looks crazy when I preview it on my site. Crazy as in, extra verbiage that doesn't appear on my editing screen, and even though I go through my draft to make sure the fonts are uniform, it doesn't look that way on the preview. I don't know how to fix this since there are sentences that show up on the preview that I do not see at all on my draft.

Hi Kris, it could be something to do with the theme. Try a different theme to see if it helps? If not, you always have SiteSupport that you can fall back on.

I have my own domainname and own hosting in the Netherlands.I have my own website Wordpress and Woocommerce. I registered with this group because I wanted to know more about affiliation. Where and how should I register with different providers, Which plugins are the best, etc. Can I still stay with this group?
I now work with the Dive van Elegants theme. I better take a different theme that looks a bit more like your theme or e.g. switch to Elementor?
I would like to know if it makes sense for me to continue if I do not use your websites and hosting.

As you go through the training you are going to be learning how to PROPERLY create a business online. This includes which plugins you should and shouldn't use, and how to build out your website in a way that sets you up for long term success.

Do not use Elementor, editors like that will slow down your website and really start to hurt you. You ideally want to leverage the hosting here at WA, but I would recommend you keep your existing starts where they are at and start fresh with a new website, based on what we teach here at WA.

As I move forward in the training I am also reviewing areas where I am unclear. I have some confusion about category vs niche. My category is seniors and how they can enhance their lifestyle and quality of life, which is broad. Am I correct in thinking that there are various niches within that category and can I promote different niches, all within that category on my webpage? Or am I completely on the wrong track? I see websites that are specific: like online dating or a special type of dance or how to care for your overweight dog...As I see it, my webpage would encompass a number of ideas to enhance the life of an older person, but not be confined to say, good walking shoes. Can you please clarify?

So, I think you're on the right track. Helping seniors is a little vague, so I would say that's a category, maybe a little too broad for a niche. But something like, staying healthy as a senior, staying active and healthy (different shoes, exercise, etc.) I think these are closer to niches. You don't want your niche too broad because it will be hard to capture a targeted audience if so. I think Kyle wants us to pick one niche AT FIRST for maximum learning, but later you can try all the niches you want. But I do believe each niche should have its own website.

I would say the category is a very good niche. It does depend on what you mean by enhance their lifestyle and quality of life. That can be pretty broad, but keep in mind you are going to be writing a lot of articles, and the more things you are helping seniors with, the more material you have to write on

check out the niche training Phil

Hi Judith, you are correct in your thinking, but you will be better keeping your niche very focussed eg left-handed golf clubs, or bowling shoes, or seniors dating, or the seniors of Rocky Valley. This will help to drive more traffic to your website which is what you want. You can have multiple websites all addressing specific focussed niches within your category which will give you an added advantage of being able to backlink between them and help your google rankings in another way too.

The idea that i had was to write a blog about what I learn while reading through Carl Jung. I could use the books for my affiliate links. I could also extend it to psychoanalysis in general as well as to philosophy, but maybe that is too broad. However I am concerned that not many other people will be interested in such topics.

I think it's a great topic but I think you'll need to show the benefits for people to sell it. Like, for more success, happier relationships.. etc.

I agree, perhaps expand to some other popular authors.

This is a good idea. Finding a dynamic way to post and present your information can draw the right 'crowd' to your site.

I need some advice I love psychology and stuff that deal relationships , sex , also im alot organic foods yoga alternative medicine people like dr.sebi Wim hof buteyko so on I google those but couldn't find a product to sell as a niche can someone give me some ideas ? thank you

you could write digital e books and sell them on your wegsite

You have several very popular niche ideas here. Foods is huge, relationships and sex are giants, and anything organic or alternative should have lots of options.

The first thing that came to mind was books. Amazon has a tremendous selection of books on all of your topics. I think once you start checking one product to sell, others will become obvious. Just take time to look and I know you'll discover many more.

I know this might sound disrespectful and I dont mean it to be this way but I was thinking maybe sex toys ? I know alot of people are into that because I dont think I can make much money selling books if your not offended id love to know what you think thank you.:)

I actually took a look at this market early on. I satisfied myself that I could find good sources for clothing and toys and books :-), but put it on hold. I may still go back to it later. There's an old advertising saying that "nothing sells like sex." It's still true. There's room here for good, factual information on all things related to sex too. You certainly shouldn't run out of topics for posts! If working in this topic will give you the most joy, go for it!

By the way, Amazon got their start selling nothing but books. You just have to be old enough to remember when they were just getting started.

Thank you so much for the tips and info but one more question I was having a look at Ali express earlier
and there were many categories related to sex toys so the question is should I choose one specific category to be my niche say for example ( Vibrators ) or can my website include different toys and different categories to choose from ? :)

Hi - there are some legalities to be considered with any kind of adult site. For example, you have to have some kind of gateway to ensure that nobody under age can view your content. Plus, sex toys are actually banned in some countries.
Reply
Nancy29 Premium
I would include a range of toys for the site, and then focus on them individually for posts and reviews.

its so funny many my friends seem skeptical about this affiliate marketing thing perhaps they tried and failed is it working out for you ?

thanks for replying so you suggest I find some another niche ? Im a music composer but I dont know I think niches like romance and fitness are the best to start with as they trending and all that what do you think ? :)

People are always skeptical of things that are new or different to them. It's just human nature. Like all businesses, you have to give it time. You also have to do the work. Follow the lessons and you're going to have success.

yeah but im a full time music composer id rather start with something easy im still trying to figure out what niche to go for im alot into psychology and relationship coaching and yoga and organic food but im confused about what specific niche to go for any ideas ? :)

Thank you I will God bless you :).

Hi - to be honest, with any adult niche, you are removing potential audiences because you need age restrictions and your site may be banned in several countries.

The top 3 niches are health and fitness, relationships and making money online. Of course, this means that they are the most competitive. You would need to pick a narrow aspect of one of these to be seen as an authority on your subject.

I notice you mention yoga. You could narrow that down to yoga clothing or yoga equipment. You could talk about the different types of yoga, but have plenty of products related to it. Just an idea

You've got a lot of great help already but, you mentioned you were a full-time music composer twice so I can't help but, think if that's something you are passionate about, maybe you'd put a lot of passion into writing about it and helping others as well ..as your niche?
Just a thought :)

Thanks for writing back im very passionate about I quit a very good job for it I recently lunched my website and my first film music track if you want to have a listen but to write about it and help others im not sure how to do that im thinking of doing this marketing thing on the side even if its just 50 or 100 dollars per day you know .. is this working out for you ?

sknnynotes . com the track is called ( moonlight ).

Wealthy Affiliate works for everyone who practices what they learn. There are no shortcuts to making money online.

As you keep going on the training you will learn many things you may not have even thought of...

An example: Your track moonlight. You can charge a fee for people to use your soundtracks in their videos etc.!

Be careful about just posting your site in comments as it is considered spam in general. You are just on level one of training but, as you move forward you will find the places here where you can share your website for feedback (on the site itself) and, another place for receiving comments on your music and, your site :)

I'm not discouraging you from trying any other niche you choose. I'm just going by the way you sound so passionate about what you already do full-time.

You wrote; " but to write about it and help others I'm not sure how to do that" that's exactly what you will learn about when you continue your training.

A final note: remember you will always be able to ask questions every step of the way, you are supported here.

Blessings, fyre
