How Will YOU Earn Money?

There are many ways to make money online! The problem is that people often get distracted by the "latest and greatest" product or service and they are never able to build a successful (and revenue generating) business.

Today we are going to run you through one of the most fundamental, yet the most powerful processes of generating revenue online.

It is a proven process, it is one that we use, and one that 100,000's of other Wealthy Affiliate members use. It is also the ultimate "making money" process that worked 5 years ago and it is going to work 5 years from now. It is a process that will reveal as much opportunity in the massive online world as you are willing to work for!

Just one thing before you get into the MONEY "stuff"...

The making money part of your business won't happen quite yet.

Before you earn money, you are going to first be focusing on creating your niche website (which will take place in the next two lessons) and are working to get traffic to your website. Without a website, without content, and without traffic, the MONEY part simply doesn't happen.

So don't look at this like a race. You will reach success and a great deal of it, but before you build your own personal SKYSCRAPER of a business, you must first have a solid FOUNDATION to build it on. That is going to be our first goal within the Getting Started training. Cool?

Alright, let's continue on! :)

Below is a video walk-through of today's lesson and the process of "How to Make Money Online". Just click the PLAY button to watch it!

DISCUSS THIS VIDEO HERE: How to Make Money Online - The Process Explained

Over the coming days you are going to be working through this process and by the end of this Level 1 training alone, you are going to have an awesome foundation in place that will lead you to much greater success.

Task #1: Understand the Make Money Process

There are MANY different ways that you can earn money online and many different ways in which you can build an entire business. In the coming lessons we are going to be walking you through the following process (and the video above explains it).

There are 3.75 BILLION people online as of 2018 (YOUR audience) and these people are searching for things all the time.

They are looking for information, solutions to problems and to buy stuff. That is where you are going to come in with your website and help these "audiences" by offering them information about what they are looking for. You will be "helping" these people and earning revenue in the process.

By Lesson 4 of this course you are going to have your very own "niche" website in place that you will use to connect with your chosen audience. You will have your very own piece of the internet and a platform to connect anyone that you want who browses the Internet.

Task #2: Create (Write Down) Your Financial Goals

You want to earn revenue right? That is great! In order to earn anything however, you need to have some goals in place.

In this task we want you to join in on a "money goals" discussion here at Wealthy Affiliate. You are going to be telling us what your goals are and going forward, we are going to be helping you achieve these very goals!

QUESTION #1: How much money would you be happy earning?

QUESTION #2: How much would you be ecstatic earning?

QUESTION #3: And how much TIME are you willing to invest to achieve these goals?

PLEASE make 100% sure that you do not skip this step and you revisit this post regularly when you are in need of some motivation. I can absolutely assure you that if you work hard at this and you are persistent towards these goals, you will achieve them. But ultimately it is UP TO YOU!

Join Discussion: What Are Your "money" Goals?

In addition to this, it would be wonderful if you commented on someone else's goals they have posted within this thread. Aim to comment on at least TWO people's goals. You likely can network with many other "like minded" people here at Wealthy Affiliate and this is a good way to get your networking efforts rolling. We are a friendly bunch here at WA!

Awesome, off to the next lesson now where you will be "choosing your niche"!

I am new to Amway and would like to know if you have had experience with this company! There are many rules for copyright and how to sell, but can be sold as long as copyrighted pictures are not displayed nor direct information unless asked for. I would however like to state my own experiences and self shot pictures in explaining the benefits of the products!

Maybe you mean "Wealthy Affiliate." Amway is a networking company. In his Google+ account, Kyle has an interesting article on networking or MLM companies. You might be interested to check that out.

You'd probably start by building your own niche website which is something related to a product segment of Amway.
I am sure though, with the same amount of effort you'll get more successful by selling niche products from Amazon and don't have to buy anything in advance :)

As long as you do not break amways rules which are very strict, you should be ok, however be very careful

Hi Manny,

My advise being a prior MLM marketer would be that you present to Amway what you want to do , and see what there response is.

Even though working with Amway is sort of like affiliate marketing because your promoting their products the difference here is they have very strict guide lines for their distributor to follow.

But if you did do this to enhance your distributorship with then I don't think they will allow you to mention in the content of your blogs that it is an Amway product which sort of defeats the purpose of promoting their products in a blog style of marketing.

It would be very hard to pull this off because your going to try to recommend a product without revealing its name until our visitor clicks on a link that takes them to that product and unless you have a Amway authorized e store i'm not sure how you could do it.

Unless you had your visitors contact you directly through email to purchase the products I just don't see how it would be possible to make that work.

However you could always try a niche and not the Amway products and see how that works out for you more than one stream of income is always a good idea.

Wow Possumiane great display of business oriented wisdom their.

Hope this helps,

Calvin

Hi.
Some keyword results on Jaaxy don't contain all info, like for example aerobic training for weight loss: AVG: 260 QSR: (blank) SEO: (blank)
What does it mean?
Is it a good keyword?
• Can You add more than 5 keywords when choosing & building a list of keywords and is there a limit?

• As far as the keywords go, does every set (5, should 5 be the limit...) apply to each article/post, or the whole website?

2.) And as for the access to 2 Training Classrooms, does the access have a time limit? Cause I saw something like "7 days"...
Also, what steps can I take to complete my websites in to start generating traffic? I am still on the free membership, and don't have money to upgrade yet.

Keywords are the premise of all of your content. Ideally you will be finding keywords with a lower competition (also known as QSR) because it means that you are going to be competition with less websites in Google when you go to create your content.

You want your keyword to meet the following criteria:

(1) Must be lower than 200 QSR initially, as you get more authority in search engines you can tackle more competitive search terms.
(2) Must get some traffic, I ideally aim for over 50 searches per month
(3) Must make grammatical sense

Once you have your keyword, you are going to create a page or a post on your website targeting that keyword. It should be within the following places in your content:

(1) Somewhere in the page/post title
(2) Somewhere within the first paragraph

And then write your content naturally and make sure it is engaging. People search "keywords" when they are looking for something so as you start getting ranked under these keywords, you are going to start to see traffic.

Once you have traffic...you have a ton of opportunity to generate revenue.

Hope this helps you out The!

I'm thinking backyard farming. I never quite recovered from Laura Ingles Wilder and am always fascinated by ideas that bring the food from backyard to table?

My concern is I'm not actively engaged in anything like this. I'm living with my "olderly" mom and my last proposal - chickens - got shot down before it was out of the gate. In fairness, it is her backyard.

I just finished the lessons but nothing in them tells me how to add affiliates to my website. I was under the impression that I could get started and earn money as a starter member but that is not the case. I cannot afford the monthly costs to become a premium unless I start earning money AND I cannot earn money unless I become a premium member. Catch 22. So disappointed.

Hello and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.
You can earn money as a free member.

Not going premium just means you don't have complete access to everything.

At this point in the training, your website is not ready to sign up with affiliates yet.

It has nothing to do with whether you are a premium member though.

Affiliates want a site that is established and has a good flow of traffic and trust.

They require you to make a sale within a certain amount of time. If your website isn't getting the traffic, then you may not make a sale.

The training helps to get your site ready for this.

I know what you mean by not having the money. But I chose to cut out something like Starbucks Double Shot mocha.

They are $2.50 per can (on sale) and I would have 1 to 2 a day.
That alone pays for the monthly membership.

The program here works. Even as a free member you have Google, Youtube etc that can help you as well.

I hope this helped in some way.
Wishing you the best in all you do

You don't have to worry about hidden cost. The only thing you might want to pay for is a purchased domain. But you can use the free ones as long as you like.
You just don't own it.

Isn't it awesome to see your website ?

I would follow the training before posting content on it though.

However, you can write a post here in WA on your profile anytime you would like.

Before publishing, you need to add 2 tags (keywords describing your pos) which will make it easier for other members to find if they need to.

I was reading another post regarding cost. I understand the premium fees, but someone said something regarding hosting as an additional monthly cost. I also understand purchasing a domain has a price. Is that one time or monthly? If I already have a domain with hosting, can I use that, or do I have to use what is offered here? And even if I don't have to use this, is it recommended to make success a little easier? Sorry, this turned into a multi question---LOL!
Reply
MariaB4 Premium
If you buy a domain through WA, the hosting is included in the price, so no additional fee.
For the domain you buy, you pay an annual fee.
You can use your existing domain and it's your choice if you want to transfer to WA.
The success is not related with the domain hosting at WA :)

Hi, within my set up it was advised that a .com domain would be easier to get rankings in google which I signed up for through wa. The domain cost 13 dollars a year roughly and is renewable at the end of the year so quite cheap really it worked out about £10 in gbp. You don’t have to do this but t is advised for higher google rankings. It is your own choice though, you can stay with the rubixsite if you wanted to.
Reply
Robert-A Premium
You get one of your own domain names at no cost as well as your free hosting for your SiteRubix sites.

So if you already have your own domain then you can transfer it over and have it hosted at no cost.

For other domain names you create you pay the for the hosting and it is really cheap for the year.

The cost to buy a domain name from WA is a one off.
Once you buy it, its yours for life the same as if you buy from any other company.

Hope this helps.
Robert

Also within premium membership you get 25 paid hosted sites and 25 free sites as far as I am aware. I myself have never had to pay extra for hosting since joining and haven’t come across this in my experience. You just pay the cost for the domain IF you want to transfer your free site to a .com (paid) domain. :) hope this helps!

Hi Robert, I paid for the domain through wa and it came up as renewable for the year so not for life. Is this dependable then if you can get the domains for life or is it just hosted through wa for the year but then the domain is yours to keep? Question from a question :D lol

As far as I know you buy the Domain then it is yours.
WA cannot take it back.
Its the Hosting that is payable each year.

To answer your questions:
1. Hosting is included in the monthly cost of $49.
2. Purchase of your own domain is a yearly thing. That will be about $14 per domain per year.
3. If you already have a domain with hosting, you can transfer your hosting to WA. That will save you money because, as mentioned above, the monthly fee of $49 at WA is inclusive of hosting. If you retain your current hosting plan elsewhere, that will be an additional cost to you.
4. At any rate, whether you will move your current domain's hosting to WA or not, you are entitled to build new websites here at WA. Ultimately you may realize that you would like to develop a new niche not covered by your current website elsewhere.
5. Having your domain hosted at WA will give you certain advantages on the technical side -- like monitoring your site's health (of course, that is something that is also provided by your current hosting company). But you can apply whatever you learn here to your currently existing website that is hosted outside of WA.
I hope I have answered your questions.
Welcome to WA! :-)

Ok I was just pondering that. So to answer the question you buy the domain for the year (With hosting from Wa) and it’s the hosting that is renenwable not the domain. That’s clearer now thanks! :D

HI Louise,

I think you had it right the first time

You have to renew the Domain yearly it is the actual website.
The hosting is provided with your paid premium membership.

and also I would like to add that you can get the membership for only
$29.95 a month if you pay $359.00 US up front (that's a little added bonus for paying for the full year all at once)

Hope this helps,

Calvin

No, the hosting is entirely free for one of your own domains.
Just like any other company you buy a domain from you pay to renew each year.
All your SiteRubix are free as a premium member.
Hope this clears up any confusion.

One question is im a bit confused on "plug ins" and what they actually are. I may be over thinking that one. My second question is on images, is there a place that we can go get general images to upload to our site? (Such as our logo image) My niche specifically is make up, so im wondering if there is somewhere i can get general photos of differemt makeup or do i just find images online wherever and is that allowed? Thanks in advance and so sorry if i sound ignorant i just want to learn and be clear so I do my best.

Hi Patricia - Plugins are used to extend what your WordPress program can do. You access them from your WordPress backend. You enact them to specific things.

For images - I believe you would need to be a Premium member to access The Site Content (the ultimate writing platform) It's found under the Websites.

If you follow the training modules, most of these questions will be answered

Last night I published my Privacy Policy and I DID see it reflected on my site along with the HOME tab. This morning its not there. When I go to Site Content it DOES show as published and I CAN edit it from Word Press.. but there is no Privacy Policy tab showing on my site. When I go to Appearance: Menus: Edit Menus: Everything is blank ... even though I saw the Home tab and Privacy Policy tab last night. I re-watched both videos and seem to have done everything correctly by publishing Privacy Policy to my site as a "page" .. but where did it they go ??

Yeah, some themes by default don't show pages in the header menu.

You can add these custom menus to organize your top menu in any way in which you like, as well as create sub-menus (for themes that will support this). You can also use these custom menus to add within your side widgets on your website (within your sidebar).

Here is a tutorial on how to create custom menus: I use custom menus on all of my websites (over-ride that default menu). It allows much more control and organization....both good things!

HI Samuel,

With you already being involved in a group in Facebook you have an advantage coming out of the gate.

You have a following already that is a great idea.

I would suggest that you go thorough the OEC training to get your niche site up faster and running.

Then drop back and do the bootcamp and start the second site.
Kyle recommend sin the training when starting out its best to just do one site until you get all the procedures down

It can become overwhelming if you have two sites running and run into a snag with something it could set you back a little.

Were as if you only have one then you concentrate on it and it alone.

But in the longer and when it comes down to it, it is your choice to do want you want to do.

Good Luck either way,

Do you mean you set it up so they can leave comments or actually communicate with each other?

Id on't think you want to allow anyone the ability to just leave un-monitored comments on your site.

If you were to get hit by a human spammer not a bot they could really create a mess for you to have to clean up.

Something to think about,

your niche is your audience, or a group of people. you talk to your niche/audience through your website blog. in that conversation when you review/mention products - you would use your affiliate links to products/service your niche may find of value. when they buy those products/services you recommend you make a commission from referring the sale.

Hello all, Today is my first day at this and although I understand the concept and it does make sense. I have one observation/question.

When I personally search for a product, I never go to Google. I go directly to Amazon and search. Finding what I want, and purchasing it right from Amazon or an FBA affiliate, no 'middle-man' Web site. I see this as a trend that is growing and won't slow anytime soon.

Am I missing something, or does this not negate the process/training taught here?

I'm not trying to be negative, just looking to further understand the potential.

Thx,
--B

That's always a possibility. Your blog is just another way for Amazon or other affiliate groups to make money. If they didn't think it worked I'm sure they wouldn't have developed associate programs. There are also other affiliate companies such as clickbank. Jim
Reply
HGraham018 Premium
I am the same way! I love Amazon for my online shopping. I don't do too much through engine searches -as I have done enough price comparisons in the past to know Amazon is priced decently.

The potential here is through content, articles/ information, that you post on your future website. For example, say you have a gardening niche. Actually, I have found more specific niches to be best. So maybe your niche would be how to create a fruit garden.

In this case, you wouldn't be trying to compete to get customers to go online to your website opposed to them going directly to like Amazon or Menards or whomever.

The goal would be, maybe you wrote an article and posted it on your website about the best way to plant your fruit seed. Maybe it was about the best time of the year to plant, or maybe the depth into the dirt that is needed.

When someone, a potential customer, goes online with a question like how to start a fruit garden - even better if they ask what depth is best to plant a fruit seed. The search engine would bring up your website because your article you posted about that same thing.

This brings the customer to you. Then through an affiliate program, like Amazon, you have available to purchase different fruit seeds. When that customer clicks on your seeds, then gets transferred to Amazon.

You would get a commission from those sales. Also, if they continue shopping through Amazon, you would get commission off all the other sales, because that customer went to Amazon through your website. It's like Amazon's way of thanking you for sending that customer to them.

I have only been with Wealthy Affiliate for a short time now, but this is my understanding so far. There maybe even more to all of it, but that is a starting explanation.

Hope it helps and good luck!

You don't have to be keyword specific, you want to choose da domain that is relevant, but it should be brand worthy and meaningful to you.

When you choose a domain, you are going to want to choose something that is "brandable" versus something that has keywords within it. The reason this is the case is because as you build out your website, you can target as many keywords as you like within the content (that is how you will rank).

I have created a discussion here outlining the process and what to look for when choosing a domain name: This should help you out here and if you ever want to run any domains by me, simply let me know and I will give you some feedback.

PS. You can host up to 25 of your own domains here within the Premium membership on our state of the art hosting platform. :)

When I changed one preposition in my keyword phrase, the QSR decreased dramatically.

For example, "How to feed A dog" vs "How to feed THE dog"

Both keywords are practically same but the second one has a QSR of 15 vs the other one with a QSR of 150.

Can I really rank higher with the lower QSR keyword?

Hello! I've made it through the training, and I have a question about the next steps. Premium membership seems like a pretty good deal for all the services it provides. However, I am a broke (more than broke, actually, thousands of dollars in debt) college student. Even $19 would put a noticeable dent in my savings, which I need for books, cellphone, and basic living expenses, and I would only be able to afford one month of premium membership (unless a website really took off!). So my question is, is premium membership really worth it?
Reply
onmyownterms Premium
Not if you can't sustain it over a long period of time - once you upgrade, you lose the ability to go back to 'free' only - you'll lose access to your sites when you cancel premium. Better to stay a free member, work on your site, and when it starts earning, upgrade to Premium when you can remain a premium member.

Abbie, have a look around the rest of the site, i think you get the first level of bootcamp for free as well.
but there is plenty of information written by the members here.
so use your free sites to start your online business until you can afford it.
financial wise what i would look at is to go with the $19 first month annd then upgrade to yearly at $359, and add in the price of a site at $14. so a total of $392.( a target to aim at!)
this way you pay and then don't need to worry about it for a year!!
so carry on free and put a couple of dollars away when you can.

is it worth it? what is the price of freedom?
if you can find a hungry niche and feed them what they want then yes, but not everything will work.
one of the main things is how hungry are you to learn this, if you are very hugry you will find a way of getting it to work.
good luck Abbie

Hi Abbie,

After the free 7 day trail ends you will lose access to the chat room.

But you can always use the search box now at the top of the page to search for various blogs and other information that can help you advance your site until it is making money and then allowing you to upgrade.

Learn how to publish content, how to install affiliate links into our content, when to insert those links, where you find those links and how to maneuver published content around on your website now, by using the search box to get all that information.

This will allow you to be able to continue to keep adding content to your site while your waiting for it to start earning money.

Then when you can upgrade you'll be able to fall back and fill in the gaps that you didn't learn by doing it that way.

Another source of information is the Word Press site just search for it in a search engine, it too can offer much information on how to do things on your free website as well.

Hope this helps,

Calvin

I am learning things every day, and this is one of the lessons I'm learning and trying to apply myself , Focus on the Solutions instead on the Problems.
Reply
Calvinator63 Premium
Hi Mauro,

That is the way I was taught to look at things not what is holding me back, but rather how can I get around those things.

One is dependent on other factors, while the latter is dependent on my actions.

Focus on the destination, and not the bumpy road you took to get there.

The goal is the destination, while the road is just the path you took to get there, in many cases there are many paths you can take to get to the same destination.

Bet of Luck,

You can also find this within the SiteRubix menu under the "SiteSupport"(to the left). This is where you should go if you ever have loading issues with your website, email issues, plugin/theme issues, or if you accidentally do something that adversely impacts your website.

This support is 24/7 and upon submitting your ticket we will look into it right away Larry!

There's no extra fee for Jaaxy it's included in premium.

You're focus is currently in the wrong directing right now Eric, Making money shouldn't be at the top of your list, although your journey online could potentially earn you a substantial amount of money if you do the right thing.

That means,
1. Finding an area where you can add value to people's lives on a daily basis online through your website. That can be in a specific niche of your choice.

2. The training that you get here for absolutely FREE, you won't find anywhere else, so utilise it.

3. Realise that making money online isn't just a button you can press and the dough starts rolling in, it takes hard work, commitment, dedication, and some failure to eventually crack the code of how the internet really works.

4. The time and money you're investing right now is in educating yourself about "making money online", that's literally the BEST investment you can possible make in this lifetime.

If you go Premium, you will have access to Jaaxy Lite so you don't need to worry about spending extra money there.

You have the FREE account for life so you can build your website using the FREE training lessons, however, if you go Premium, you will have access to more tools and training that will help you to achieve more.

So you can continue with the training and see if you can earn money or invest in the training and know that you will become successful.

You will not start to make money overnight so you will need to think it through - spend more hours with the limited training or invest more knowing that you will have all the tools to help you to become successful.

What is the best way to rank a niche site's SEO so that people see and click on your site versus going straight to the main site?
For example, I Google "Football snack helmets". Footballsnackhelmets.com shows first, before Amazon.com. But if your site doesn't rank above Amazon, wouldn't people looking to buy a particular product just click on Amazon and leave your site in the dust?
Reply
Calvinator63 Premium
Hi Benjamin,

No not necessarily if they are looking for some kind of feed back on how the product has worked for someone else they will click on your post before they click on Amazons.

Reviews of a product are very veg and not all that detailed if you write a full product review that is 800 word long verses the review on Amazon that might be 100 words long which do you think would be more helpful.

Then since they are on your site you provide the link right to the product which saves them time having to search it again.

Hope this helps,

Calvin

Hi! I am investigating and weighing out trying out affiliate marketing. Is there a scientific way to build this business to earn a certain income? I am just trying to find out if this would be better for me to be able to work from home vs. getting a part time job in the evenings/weekends. If I was to work this and seek assistance as a premium member realistically could I get a mentor? How many months would it take to earn 2,000 a month? Please advise in any way that you can. Thank you.

The income potential is unlimited. You just have to be wiling to put in the work. Think of it this way; if you got a part time job, sure you'd have a check every 2 weeks, but you'd also be doing what someone else was telling you to do. If you go the WA way; you're doing what you want and eventually making money at it!

And yes, there is a scientific method.

What makes a customer not just go to the companies website that produced the product? I understand that some companies don't give you all the information you need, but if I were to search for an item I would go to the companies website to get all the details I could from the source that made the product.
Reply
I would usually do research on sites when shopping and then go directly to amazon or ebay to purchase the item. Maybe I'm not the normal, but that's what I usually do when shopping online.
Reply
leoemery Premium
There's nothing stopping people from doing that, but if you've provided your visitors with all the informaiton they need to make a decision - most people will click on your affiliate link that takes them to the company site or amazon to make the purchase
Reply
smartketeer Premium
Hi AJ,

The customer eventually goes to the company site, but if he/she is will arrive on that site after clicking your affiliate link, a cookie will be placed on hi/her computer and any further action/purchase will be associated with you
Reply
nathaniell Premium
Leo is correct, and I'll expand on that.

Many people don't know what they are looking for when they search! They don't always type "buy space heater" into Google. They may type something like "how do I heat my home for cheap". If they read your article on the topic and want to buy your recommendation, it would be more work for them to then go to Amazon, search the product, and compare it on your website to make sure they have the same thing.

They would have to actively work AGAINST you to prevent you from making a commission. Some people may do that, but the majority will be happy to just click your link and be instantly taken to the sellers website.

That was basically what I just asked. I did the same thing. I always got freaked out when I was looking at a product on a website and when I clicked on it, the website would send me to Amazon. Hello Carolyn,
A Disney niche sounds great, this way you can write about all the items it produces. You also could hook up with an affiliate company and sell tickets to people before they go. This way they don't have to wait on long lines when they get there.
Hope this helps.

Never worry about competition in a niche. It doesn't matter how many existing sites there are if you build a better one. Just be careful not to include the word Disney in your domain. It is trademarked and you will receive a DMCA take-down notice for the site (trust me on this one, I learned the hard way). You might also find this post of mine helpful.

Right, in the domain name, you can write about it all you want, you just can't use that word in the domain name itself.

Disney is a good idea, however is very broad.
Why not starting with something like Disney Princess or Disney's animations by Pixar.

Once you're comfortable with the subject you can move to other Disney animations.

Disney today is too broad, they have Marvel and Star Wars under their roof.
It will more difficult for you to write about everything relate to them.

Hello as Vickie3 answered your questions already but I would like to add that if you decide to go yearly (instead of monthly) you save approx 35% and if you break down the cost it's like $29.99/month. I also read on another member's blog that during Black Friday WA runs a special on yearly membership fee as well.

I'm fairly new (about 3 weeks in) and if I can be transparent the knowledge and tools that I've learned in Level 1 & Level 2 are amazing. Each one of my 4 posts has been indexed by Google.

WA is the 1st online Affiliate Marking Business that I've come across that teaches every step without charging you more and more as you move along in the process before releasing the formula to help you create good content for your site.

If you decide to do the monthly $49 that's it. Oh but you do have to pay for your own domain site (.com, .org) which is like $13 - $15/yr or you can stay with the free domain WA gives you.

That's the only additional cost (outside of the premium membership fee) I've come across - hope this helps.

All the best to you.

I am at the choosing a niche stage in my Wealthy Affiliate experience and I want to have a mens lifestyle product business. And become an affiliate for multiple categories of mens products. However I've been told that narrowing down to a small/micro niche is more advisable to begin. Or should I go big with all mens lifestyle products right out of the gate?

Hi! I would advise on choosing a niche the's wide in that way you can elaborate widely on the header topic, make sure to check for strong keywords for each topic on Jaaxy and choose wisely. best of luck to you.

Men's products is too broad. To narrow down, you specify a particular product for a particular category of men e.g. products for gray men, products for bald men, ED products, fragrance products, and so on.

When creating the menu I allowed six posts per page. For the blog page.
I don't use featured photo on my posts and maybe that is where the pics would have been pulled from to create the thumbnails.
I instead upload photos for specific parts of my pages.
Where the thumbnail photos should be on the left sidebar of the blog page, grey empty boxes appear instead.
Any suggestions how to get photos into those boxes in the left sidebar?

I have answered your already here:

I appreciate knowing that.

I had already created the static web pages and opted against using the featured picture. When I used it in the past I ended up with duplicate pictures on the post - the heading and in the article. (I didn't know it was supposed to be that way). I suspected that is where the problem was and it was confirmed by responses stating, 'yes' I have to use the featured image. I just did that and all is well now.

Thanks.
Reply
Triblu Premium
No, no Tinap, your header image should NOT be duplicated. That's why I suggested to make sure to remove the one you embedded in the WordPress edit window.

Yeaaaah... glad to learn that using the featured image did the trick to fix your issue.

When I realized I had to use the featured images, I had to edit over 100 posts and pages on ONE website. At that time, thankfully, I only had two websites. :-))

In the "Choosing a Niche" training, at the end Kyle mentioned we should choose either the online entrepreneur training or the boot camp training, but not both. My question is if I am successful at this business with marketing through the online entrepreneur training and after awhile I want to market Wealthy Affiliate to bring other's to the community, is that still not recommended or can I do both?
Reply
HeidiY Premium
You can do both, I am and lots of others. I am still building out my niche site and have only 4 weeks ago started a Bootcamp site also.

It is recommended you build a niche site first and go through the training, that way you have a better idea of how WA works to be able to speak with any authority when you build out your WA site.

Hope that helps.

Hey. So I logged in and went to update my plug-ins and WordPress but received errors. My plug-ins are both activated but I received an error message saying "Download failed. cURL error 7: couldn't connect to host". I then go to check if they updated after all and it says they are up to date. Same thing happened with my themes. Error message but they are all up to date. I am curious to know if they did indeed update or if my website is bugged. My WordPress gives me the same error message yet does not say anything of it being "up to date." Is my website bugged? How do I update my WordPress? Any answers would be really appreciated.

Hey David,

Please let SiteSupport know of this issue being sure to give them the exact error message you received. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/support

This may have been a temporary issue and your plugins and theme may all be updated now, but I feel it important enough that you should notify them of this issue. If you can remember at about what time you received these error messages and let them know that fact too, it would be very helpful in their being able to track down any issues on the web hosting server.

Hope you find this helpful.

if it is a site you own - a domain then site support is your best place to go.
if it is a siterubix one then delete it and do it agian - you do realise now you are a premium member you have 25 siterubix sites to play with- so make a couple of test sites and literally play - if you break them then delete and start again.
Good luck Joseph.

You can do this, I've done it myself. I host the blog portion on the main site and then have a subdomain for the shop.

Something like mydomain . com for the blog / articles and shop . mydomain . com for Shopify store.

Sorry for the spaces, it's not a real domain and if you include real domains I think WA gets upset :)
Reply
Thank you for your response. I think I understand what you're saying....you have a WA site where you have your blog/articles but link your shopify site to the shopping section?

I want a "1 stop shop" website so I'm not wasting time and energy creating and maintaining multiple sites. Should I only focus my energy in WA for blogging and content and continue to use my shopify site for products?

Sorry, I'm new at all of this. I have my end product in vision (in my head) but not sure the best way to map it out.

I appreciate all the feedback I can get.

Hi there, yep, you've understood correctly :)

I'm not sure a 1 stop shop is possible with the setup you're looking at, you can use Shopify's blog feature but I found it very limited which is why I switched to the method of linking out to the shop.

You could look at WooCommerce but I found the results of that to be unsatisfactory - too much admin time required primarily. I actually wrote a blog article about that just the other day but won't spam the URL here :) You can find the site in my bio links if you do want to check it out.

Long story short, I use my WA hosted site for articles and Shopify for the shop aspect cos it just worked out easier for me

Hope that helps :)

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right area, but would appreciate any feedback from the community. I am a little confused after watching the video on Choosing a Niche, because I wasn't thinking I had to zero in so specifically on a category. Anyway, I gave it a try. My broad target audience is persons who want to address lifestyle diseases through diet and supplementation. Would 'whole food supplements', be a niche, or do I have to get even more targeted? Also, since this is a big topic, could I have more than one site dealing with different niche areas?

Consider how many topics you could blog about and how many products you could link to or advertise within your niche. If the products are all related to the same teaching topic, then your niche is probably the right size.
On the other hand, if you can only think of 1 or 2 products that could be sold and discussed within a given topic, that niche is probably too small.
There are, however, some pretty tight niches that have been successful. Remember the Football Helmet Snack Tray niche discussed in the training.
Bottom line is your niche should be something you can talk about in a manner that it engaging and helping your readers. That's what gets site traffic and site traffic leads to income.

I have been doing some searches of affiliate products that offer high commission close to £40 or more..
I don't know if I am aiming too high but I am seeing what is out there. I have had along day at work so I am a bit tired, But I have booked marked some sites. I am open to any suggestions.

Hello Lawrence,
Research is always a good thing to do.
However, I honestly wouldn't choose a niche by product value.

You will be having to write a lot of quality content about your niche.
Just because your niche produces products of lesser commission, doesn't mean you can't make as much as a higher commission product would give you.

As long as you follow the training and implement what you learn correctly, your content might bring in a lot of readers looking to purchase your product.

This is of course just my opinion. I hope that it helps : )

As long as you are passionate about the niche I think it’s smart to choose high selling, high commission products.

You have to write a lot of content, so if you enjoy the niche you will enjoy writing about it. I couldn’t built a site around say $1000 power tools, I have no interest and I know for myself I wouldn’t put in the effort. But as others have said the commission give you the motivation so it obviously works for others.

Just consider if the products are actually selling, you might have more chance of selling 100 products and $100 than 50 products at $200.

Best wishes to you.

My advice would be to choose one niche that you like and continue with the training.

The training now is the most important thing.

Master your website building, SEO, how to research and write good content, social sites, etc.

What you chose at the beginning of your training might not be what you end up with in six months time (I speak from experience). And that is absolutely fine.

With your training in place, you'll be able to have more than one site if you wish.

Many WA members have multiple sites.

They can do that because they've gone through the lessons, gained experience with one site, and now are replicating the successful formula to any niche and any website.

My point is, not to waste precious time on micro decisions but deal with the important stuff first.

Best of luck!
Alenka

Sorry I disagree with your discussion of a niche. If you choose too narrow of a niche/audience you will not get as much traffic as a more broader idea/product. In the helmet example, I thought that it was too narrow. Perhaps describing it as a unique football product or products would have a wider draw - especially if you list more that one football product.
Reply
JKulk1 Premium
In affiliate marketing a broad niche may been seen by Google as a blatant attempt to sell products. A niche is your little corner of the web , if you like, where you discuss your hobbies and carry out product reviews. The links need to be subtle, in other words not to many. Or Google won't trust your site and in turn you won't get ranked. You can produce a broader web site if you're not intending to utilise affiliate marketing and instead want to sell your own products. That's a difficult question. If the figurines are for sale on Amazon you will only need a few links, because your link will take you to the others as well. If anyone buys more then one figurine you will be paid for all that they purchase. Or you can possibly write an article about each figurine, if the each have a story, and put a couple of links on each. I hope this helps. Jim

Hello Ellen and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.

I would first say maybe to try starting with one type of ailment, or disability that you have dealt with the most.

You don't want to be that broad. Once you narrow it down, you can then ask yourself if it is something that you will be able to constantly write quality content about.

You can also ask yourself
I want to help people ________

I have a friend here in El Paso, TX who is a CNA too. I noticed that she sometimes have lower back pain due to the frequent lifting of patients. So maybe a niche to support your back would be a good one or something like a massage bed or chair after a long 12-hour shift would be good too. Just my two cents worth.

You have a few options here. First, you can put ads on your site (not the most efficient method, but a possible way to earn).

Second, you can include affiliate links. So, if your activity requires certain supplies, link to them on Amazon with affiliate links.

Finally, why not start out and then write a book of activities they can buy if they just want a large number or activities based on a specific topic?
