Lesson 1, Getting Rolling!

First off, we would like to personally welcome you to Wealthy Affiliate. I am Kyle, co-founder of Wealthy Affiliate and I am going to be the one walking you through the training and the process of building a successful business online.

Carson, the other co-founder works more with the technical team (close to 30 full-time employees) so you will see a bit less of him, although he is still very much active here within the community every day.

Here is a photo of us and our families below (me and my family on LEFT, Carson and family on RIGHT). :)

Our goal in the early stages here is EARN your trust and help you get moving in the right direction with your business. We realize that the industry is full of companies that are not all that trustworthy and it has been our mission over the past 15 years to do things differently. Wealthy Affiliate has been around since 2005, and during this 15 year period we have helped close to 2.3 MILLION people during this time!

The community here is full of amazing people, with a lot of expertise. I know you are going to quickly realize that. In fact, you are going to be able to tap into this knowledge an expertise at any point as you move forward in the training.

I assure you that you have definitely made the right choice in joining the community here at Wealthy Affiliate, you are going to love it here and you are going to quickly realize we care about YOU and your success online!

In the coming days and weeks we are going to be showing you how online success works and we will help you realize your own potential within the Internet space to earn revenue and leverage the internet to grow a business.

Before we continue, we want to point out a few important things:

(1) Anyone Can Accomplish Success Online. There are now over 4.75 BILLION people using the Internet, regardless of the direction you head online there is a very large number of people there that you can connect with and leverage to create a business online. Members here at WA succeed at the highest rate out of any platform online!

(2) Anything NEW Can "Appear" to be Overwhelming at First. Like riding a bike, it is normal to feel overwhelmed and even "fall" a few times when getting rolling. Don't worry, you will quickly get the hang of things! Stick with Wealthy Affiliate and you will achieve, and far exceed your goals. We teach what works.

(3) No Technical or Prior Online Business Experience Required. If you have experience that is great, but it is definitely not a requirement here at Wealthy Affiliate. Everything related to online business can be learned here within your membership and you definitely do not need to be a "techie".

(4) Success is a Journey. Success is very cumulative by design. This means that everything you do now, and every step you take will contribute towards your personal success in the future. An exciting journey does lie ahead and the effort you put forth now will pay off later and often times forever!

A Quick Look at How YOU Will Be Creating Success.

Success online is very simple at it's core. There is a 4-step business building process that you are going to be learning here at Wealthy Affiliate. Here is a quick diagram breaking down the process.

Broken, down, the process looks like this:

Step 1: Choose an Interest. This can be anything at all, any interest, passion or even something you have no personal experience with.

Step 2: Build a Website. Your website is your foundation and we have the most sophisticated and feature rich website and hosting platform here at Wealthy Affiliate.

Step 3: Attract Visitors. You are going to be learning all about how to get traffic and visitors to your website. The first focus is FREE traffic and there is A LOT of it out there.

Step 4: Earn Revenue. Once you have people on your site and traffic, you can earn revenue. There are over 50 ways you can monetize traffic online, and over 550 MILLION products/services that you can promote as an affiliate.

As you go through the training, this is going to be covered in detail. As mentioned, absolutely EVERYTHING you need is here at WA to facilitate this process! It is a true "earn while you learn" environment.

Before we go any further...

We want to give you two simple pieces of advice within the Wealthy Affiliate community.

Piece of Advice #1: Do not be afraid to ask questions! There are 100,000's of people here within WA at any given moment and many, MANY experts. If you need help, please ask! Go to the dashboard and leave a question, or you can contact me directly here.

PS. Carson and I (Kyle) help people all day, don't be afraid to reach out to me even if it is to say "hi".

Piece of Advice #2: Take action on what you learn! Action leads to success. You could read and watch the training until you are blue in the face, but if you never take action on it you won't achieve any success.

We don’t want to put any pressure on you and definitely do not want to overwhelm you as you get started, so we are going to give you three simple tasks to perform (as noted below). Spend a few minutes today and complete these tasks! :)

You are currently reading lesson 1 of a 10 lesson Getting Started course. This course is going to step you through the process of getting started. It will answer all of the questions that you have about earning money on the Internet, and will reveal exactly how to do it.

If you ever need to get back to your training, simply click the Training tab in the upper menu. This "smart" button will always take you back to your last completed task and you will also see your progress through the training.

Click the "Continue Here" to get back into your training at any time.

Your Current Tasks :)

In this Lesson you will become involved and immersed within the awesome community here at Wealthy Affiliate. We are a community that cares about your success, and one where you will create wonderful relationships within the industry. You will soon learn that you can SUPERCHARGE your learning and ultimately, your success by being active in the community, and immersing yourself.

This starts with uploading a picture, adding a few words about yourself in your profile description, and getting involved in a live chat with others. These tiny steps are referred to as your "Account Setup" tasks which we will discuss below in a little more detail.

Right now, there is no reason to delay your training, let's get started with your Tasks for today.

Task 1: Watch The Walk Through Video Below

Your first task today is to watch the "Wealthy Affiliate Walkthrough - How YOU Can Benefit From WA" video. This video will walk you through Wealthy Affiliate, show you how to find your way around, show you how to get help, and ultimately show you how WA will help you succeed within the online world.

Click the video below to start watching.

At any time if you have questions as you are watching the Wealthy Affiliate Walkthrough video, simply leave them in the comments section below the video and we will be more than happy to help you out. Remember, there is a TON of help available whenever you need it.

Task 2: Complete Your Account Set-up

Your next task is to set-up your Wealthy Affiliate account. Here is video walking you through the process it. It is fairly straightforward and only requires a few steps.

Setting up your Wealthy Affiliate profile only includes three items:

1. Adding a profile image (can be anything you want, including one of the default options)

2. Add a profile description. Again, you are in control. Share something about yourself, your interests, and perhaps why you are here at WA (and your goals online)

3. Set Goals. Set some "money" goals for yourself here at WA. This is going to be great for motivation moving forward, but also will naturally lead to much more achievement.

You can also edit your profile at any time, by going directly to your profile page.

This may seem very simple (and it is), but there are definite reasons that you are going to want to complete the account set-up process. Here are some benefits to setting up your account:

  • Leads to better networking within the community
  • Your “followers” within the community will go up at least 5x (in some cases)
  • People are more willing to help you if you have a profile
  • Adds a level of credibility within the community
  • Shows others that you are serious about SUCCESS

Immerse yourself within Wealthy Affiliate and you are going to experience a lot more success. It is a rare day within WA when you don’t get to brush shoulders with millionaire marketers hanging out within the community, so take this serious and make your profile (people’s first impression of you) a good one.

Goals are important for achievement and success, so we recommend that you set these early on. And don't worry, as time goes on you can and likely will be setting new goals as you make progress!

One More Thing...

We want you to make us a promise today. We want you to give Wealthy Affiliate a chance first and foremost. We know that you may have had bad experiences online in the past and we want you to allow us to prove ourselves to you.

We care about YOU and we care about YOUR personal success more than you think.

Do we have a deal? :)

Again, we want to personally welcome you to the community and we look forward to helping you achieve success online, and far exceeding your expectations :)

Your friends,

Kyle & Carson

PS. When you are done your tasks, simply check them off below and then move onto the next lesson. And if you have any questions at all, please leave them in the comments below.

In the next lesson we are going to be talking all about Making Money! :)

Tasks 0/3 completed
1. Watch the Walk-through Video of Wealthy Affiliate
2. Complete the Account Set-up Process on your profile (image, description, goals)

I don't know if I am getting ahead of the training here or if this is a valid question.
ı am interested at the moment at the nıche make money online and promoting WA. The question is, how do I set up my website. (Or put the question this way- Do I have to still work on my niche and narrow it down?)
2. Do I have to follow the OEC training step by step or Do I go straight to Bootcamp? I am really confused about these 2 parts.

I hope the question is clear enough as I really need help badly.

Hi - you would need to follow the Boot Camp training rather than the OEC. Your niche will be make money online, so you will need to find a target audience that you would like to help.

Do be aware that promoting WA is very competitive, and you will potentially need to write hundreds of original articles, all about making money online.

Unless you are genuinely interested in this, and have some experience, it can be difficult to keep coming up with different topics to write about 2 or 3 times per week.

Here is some more information about niches in case you wish to review it.

A niche is something you feel super excited to write about, a skill you have attained, something that resonates with you. You will want to be focused on one niche. What is it that you want to help a group of people with or what problem do you want to help them solve (group could be age, gender, location, experience level, degree or type of need, etc.)

A niche is not a product, it's a subject that you can help a target audience with. Remember, you are not setting up a shop (store), you will be writing lots of articles about your niche to help your targeted audience.

Kyles asks us to complete this statement.
'i want to help ____(group) with ______(problem)'

For example. I like camping and what to help campers buy the right equipment to make their camping experience more pleasant and safe.

Camping is a very broad topic with a lot of competition so to eliminate some competition in the beginning so the website has a chance to grow, the focus needs to be a smaller scope. For example essential camping equipment for beginners. Once the website is established and has a good volume, its scope can be expanded to include other things camping related. This is just an example.

Why should you narrow your niche when first starting?
The key to getting started fast is to narrow your niche down to a specific topic. This way, you will eliminate a lot of competition and get results much faster. Once your site is established and you are getting traffic you can expand your niche scope.

Hi

Super great that you are interested in promoting WA, and in this instance you need head to the Affiliate Bootcamp to learn more. With the Bootcamp, you need select your target audience, those folks you want to serve, that best resonates with you, know so well and reach out to them through your content. You'd be required to write lots of content in relation to the make money online niche, however targeted to your selected direction.

You'd also be required to have a separate site.

However having said that we always recommend starting out with own niche vs the Affiliate Bootcamp (make money online niche) as the latter is a lot harder and more competitive, you would need to write 300 to 400 articles before you are able scratch the surface. (vs. 100 articles own niche)

You'd also need to do the whole Bootcamp in its entirety before you can commence with your site.

Recommendation is to focus on ONE niche at a time, even Kyle himself would recommend the same.

However if you were to choose your own niche site, it would be something you are passionate and genuinely interested in could be a hobby or an interest, and know so well you can write plenty original content about.

ONE niche, a website. Products and programs can be varied however all must be relevant to the niche.

You may consult with https://answersocrates.com/ for further research into finding a subcategory starting out. You can search what real people are asking as in Questions, Prepositions, Comparisons, in the past, letters and query. It is also great if someone wants to write a thorough research based article.

For example if you are in yoga
Yoga exercises for beginners

When deciding on a niche try narrow it down to a more specific niche, you can ask yourself the following question:

So I want to help people with ____________________ ?

Fill in the blank and you are going to get closer to a specific audience. Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

Once a site starts gaining traction, traffic and authority you can then scale to acover another subcategory.

See example blog post below You can do a google search
Your niche + affiliate programs
Your niche + affiliate programs + location
and see what results you get

Meanwhile I'd ask as many questions as I want to get clarifications,

Welcome to WA and our community.

Wie macht man echte Silikonpuppen?
Kennen Sie Silikonpuppen?

Joel luxus Love doll

Pay the $19 dollars special offer for the first month and see how you feel after that. You will learn a phenomenal amount for that $19 and the support from other members is absolutely priceless. Hi

Organic outreach to your site through your efforts writing original content addressing issues in relation to a chosen focused niche and sharing posts on social media platforms. And provided your chosen target keywords for your posts are searchable.

Recommendation is to update blog 2 - 3 times a week a niche a site and that's for the foreseeable future.

Starting out it is better to go with organic outreach vs paid, the latter I would wait till my site is earning commission, then I can reinvest in the business out of proceeds vs my own pocket or savings. Paid in this instance means, taking Google or search engines out of the equation.

You would not need write a set of articles on your site and have some traffic to apply for affiliate programs the case you are building your site for affiliate marketing.

Once approved you can then promote affiliation links on your site. So essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

Once they do, you'd earn yourself a commission in accordance with your affiliation terms and conditions, how commission payouts are tracked and paid. You need to read up how payments are made because different programs follow different rules; some pay by check others via PayPal or straight to your check account.

I would always adhere to your affiliate program terms and conditions. In addition to

You have access to Level One of OEC And level One of the Affiliate Bootcamp You also have access to Getting Started, the Affiliate Program and the Affiliate Platform classrooms, which can be accessed via link below:

However so,

You could remain a starter indefinitely and your siterubix subdomain remains valid for six months, gives you time to build content.

However the learning curve would be steeper as communications with the platform ceases up in 7 days from time signing up, you will not have access to coaching and sound advice.

It can take 3 - 6 months to see any income. This is a long term commitment and takes months of consistent work

As and when you decide to become a Premium, your first month would be $19 then $49 monthly afterwards until you cancel

Or $49 first month then $99 monthly afterwards for premium plus + tier subscribers.

You may start with a siterubix subdomain around a focused niche and build up content, down the line have your own dot com, as some affiliate programs do not work with a subdomain. Cost of which is $14 yearly each privacy included. You can then move your siterubix to your dot com applying the move feature found within the site manager, an easy process. However hosting is included in a premium subscription to the platform.

Yes, you probably created a free website at the time you joined and now when you are doing the training you are creating another one. As a free starter member you can only have one free siterubix.com website.

Here's what you can do If you need the instructions again.

How to delete and build different free website.
Menu Bar -> websites -> Site manager -> find your website
Look in lower right hand corner for "details" click on it.
Then scroll down and look in bottom left hand corner for "delete"
Click it.

Hi

As a starter you are allowed a siterubix subdomain around a focused niche and build up content, down the line have your own dot com, as some affiliate programs do not work with a subdomain. Cost of which is $14 yearly each privacy included. You can then move your siterubix to your dot com applying the move feature found within the site manager, an easy process. However hosting is included in a premium subscription to the platform.

If URL dot com and made a mistake, you need to purchase a new domain.

If URL siterubix subdomain, you can delete and start again, however I’d save my work in site content.

If you made a mistake on your siterubix subdomain, you may delete by clicking details onward next page scroll to bottom and click delete. Then head to site builder

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/build

And choose a free domain, enter credentials and follow procedure.

If title and tagline, settings > general edit and save changes.

These days you can go either way. Search engines do not use your domain name to rank your content. It is the actual content itself that gives rank.

Do you have a local business? Or just your website?
If you do not have a local business then using your name is not significant. And I would probably buy a new domain if you are serious about earning online. But as you go through the training you may think of some great niche names.

Even if you build a free siterubix.com website you can MOVE what you create to a .com domain name later loosing none of your content, images, etc.

Hi

That's totally up to you if wanting carry on with existing or starting new, however if your current site has content, you may want to write to support for further instructions how to migrate site to WA if that's the intention.

And if no content, you may transfer or point to WA servers (if transferring domain has to end in .com, .net or .org.

To update your domain DNS settings to point to WA. Here are the DNS settings.

ns1.mywahosting.com
ns2.mywahosting.com

These settings will be updated within your domain registrar (where you purchased your domain) after the transfer has taken place. To transfer your domain here you need login current registrar and fetch the EPP code, there's a one year charge of $14, privacy included. One year more will get added to your domain.

Also it has to have passed the grace period of 60 days.

----------------------

The name of your domain can be related to your niche and cannot for example Apple dot com does not sell apples vs tech gear.

However nowadays domains are not so affected by SEO vs writing quality rich content with good choice of keywords, latter of which would rank you in the search engines.

Again dependent your focused niche how you pursue with a plan for your site. You are wanting start off with a subcategory, otherwise you will find it very hard to get noticed by the search engines and to compete with big authority sites. Target audience is important too, who would you be writing to, once you are able to identify them, you are closer to finding a focused niche.

Once a site starts gaining traction, traffic and authority you can then scale to cover another subcategory.

Looking up your site, you may want to review below resource

https://blog.feedspot.com/homesteading_blogs/

You may consult with https://answersocrates.com/ for further research into finding a subcategory starting out.
