Lesson 1, Getting Rolling!

First off, we would like to personally welcome you to Wealthy Affiliate. I am Kyle, co-founder of Wealthy Affiliate and I am going to be the one walking you through the training here.

Carson, the other co-founder works more with the technical team (over 25 people) so you will see a bit less of him, although he is still very much active here within the community every day.

You have definitely made the right choice in joining the community here at Wealthy Affiliate, you are going to love it here and you are going to quickly realize we care about you and your success online!

In the coming days and weeks we are going to be showing you how online success works and we will help you realize your own potential within the Internet space to earn revenue and leverage the internet to grow a business.

Before we continue, we want to point out a few important things:

(1) Anyone Can Accomplish Success Online. There are 3.75 BILLION people using the Internet, regardless of the direction you head online there is a very large number of people there that you can connect with. Members here at WA succeed at the highest rate out of any platform online!

(2) Anything NEW can appear to be Overwhelming at First. Like riding a bike, it is normal to feel overwhelmed and even "fall" a few times when getting rolling. Don't worry, you will quickly get the hang of things! Stick with Wealthy Affiliate and you will achieve, and far exceed your goals.

(3) No Technical or Prior Online Business Experience Required. If you have experience that is great, but it is definitely not a requirement here at Wealthy Affiliate. Everything related to online business can be learned here within your membership and you definitely do not need to be a "techie".

(4) Success is a Journey. Success is very cumulative by design. This means that everything you do now, and every step you take will contribute towards your personal success in the future. An exciting journey does lie ahead and the effort you put forth now will pay off later and often times forever!

A Quick Look at How YOU Will Be Creating Success

Success online is at the core a 4 step process nothing more complex than this and this is exactly what you are going to be learning here at Wealthy Affiliate. Here is a quick diagram breaking down the process.

Broken, down, the process looks like this:

Step 1: Choose an Interest. This can be anything at all, any interest, passion or even something you have no personal experience with.

Step 2: Build a Website. Your website is your foundation and we have the most sophisticated and feature rich website and hosting platform here at Wealthy Affiliate in SiteRubix.

Step 3: Attract Visitors. You are going to be learning all about how to get traffic and visitors to your website. The first focus is FREE traffic and there is A LOT of it out there.

Step 4: Earn Revenue. Once you have people on your site and traffic, you can earn revenue. There are over 50 ways you can monetize traffic online!

As you go through the training, this is going to be covered in detail. As mentioned, absolutely EVERYTHING you need is here at WA to facilitate this process!

Before we go any further...

We want to give you two simple pieces of advice within the Wealthy Affiliate community.

Piece of Advice #1: Do not be afraid to ask questions! There is 100,000's of people here within WA and many, MANY experts. You need help, please ask!

Piece of Advice #2: Take action on what you learn! Action leads to success. You could read and watch the training until you are blue in the face, but if you never take action on it you won't achieve any success.

We don’t want to put any pressure on you and definitely do not want to overwhelm you as you get started, so we are going to give you three simple tasks to perform (as noted below). Spend a few minutes today and complete these tasks! :)

You are currently reading lesson 1 of a 10 lesson Getting Started Course. This course is going to step you through the process of getting started. It will answer all of the questions that you have about earning money on the Internet, and will reveal exactly how to do it.

If you ever need to get back to your training, simply click the Get Started Here button within the side menu. This "smart" button will always take you back to your last completed task and you will also see your progress through the training.

Click the "You Are Here" to get back into your training at any time.

Your Current Tasks :)

In this Lesson you will become involved and immersed within the awesome community at Wealthy Affiliate. This is a community that cares about your success, and one where you will create wonderful relationships within the industry. You will soon learn that you can SUPERCHARGE your learning and ultimately, your success by being active in the community, and immersing yourself.

This starts with uploading a picture, adding a few words about yourself in your profile description, and getting involved in a live chat with others. These tiny steps are referred to as your "Account Setup" tasks which we will discuss below in a little more detail.

Right now, there is no reason to delay your training, let's get started with your Tasks for today.

Task 1: Watch The Walk Through Video Below

Your first task today is to watch the Wealthy Affiliate Walk-through video. This video will walk you through Wealthy Affiliate, show you how to find your way around, show you how to get help, and ultimately show you how WA will help you succeed within the online world.

DISCUSS VIDEO: Wealthy Affiliate Walkthrough - How YOU Can Benefit From WA

At any time if you have questions as you are watching the Wealthy Affiliate Walkthrough video, simply leave them in the comments section below the video and we will be more than happy to help you out. Remember, there is a TON of help available whenever you need it.

Task 2: Complete Your Account Set-up

Your final task for today is to set-up your Wealthy Affiliate account. I have created a quick video walk-through showing you how to set-up your account:

DISCUSS VIDEO: Setting Up Your WA Account is EASY

Setting up your Wealthy Affiliate account only includes two items:

(1) Adding a profile image (can be anything you want)
(2) Adding a personal description

This may seem very simple (and it is), but there are definite reasons that you are going to want to complete the account set-up process. Here are some benefits to setting up your account:

  • Leads to better networking within the community
  • Your “followers” within the community will go up at least 5x (in some cases)
  • People are more willing to help you if you have a profile
  • Adds a level of credibility within the community
  • Shows others that you are serious about SUCCESS

Immerse yourself within Wealthy Affiliate and you are going to experience a lot more success. It is a rare day within WA when you don’t get to brush shoulders with millionaire marketers hanging out within the community, so take this serious and make your profile (people’s first impression of you) a good one.

Task #3: Understand Your Membership

If you joined for FREE, you currently have a Starter membership . This is the starting point of your success online. You get a good deal of access with the Starter level membership, but you need to know that there is MUCH MORE to be found at WA.

There are huge benefits to going premium when you are ready. Your last task for today is to take a second to learn about our Premium membership and how it differs from the Starter program.

Get All of the "Juicy" Details About Premium Here!

You are in good hands here at Wealthy Affiliate regardless of whether you are Starter or Premium.

Make us a Promise OK?

We want you to make us a promise today. We want you to give Wealthy Affiliate a chance first and foremost. We know that you may have had bad experiences online in the past and we want you to allow us to prove ourselves to you.

We care about YOU and we care about YOUR personal success more than you think.

Do we have a deal? :)

Again, we want to personally welcome you to the community and we look forward to helping you achieve success online, and far exceeding your expectations :)

Your friends,

Kyle & Carson

PS. When you are done your tasks, check them off below and then move onto the next lesson.

In the next lesson we are going to be talking all about Making Money! :)

Tasks 0/3 completed
1. Watch the Walk-through Video of Wealthy Affiliate
2. Watch the Account Set-up Video of Wealthy Affiliate
3. Complete the Account Set-up Process (description, image)

Maybe we picked the wrong template?...but we wanted a picture on the home page.
Have followed instructions and do not have any tabs in header, (even after writing Privacy Policy according to lessons) and have tried to replace template photo with our own, but have problems positioning it so that it does not block out text.

Can all this be fixed - OR should we start over with another template??

As a premium member you have access now to a lot more template options. You will not loose anything you have done and you can preview them before choosing. I played around with many different ones until I found one with the look and feel I was happy with. Give it a go :)

Many Thanks.
I was under the impression that I could only use one template at a time.
So, if I understand you correctly, I can sdd content to multiple templates at the same time and compare then to pick the one I like the most?
Do I have that right?

Thank you so much for helping me!

$4,000 a month

QUESTION #2: How much would you be ecstatic earning?
$100,000 a year

QUESTION #3: And how much TIME are you willing to invest to achieve these goals?
Whatever it takes

Hi there good people. I'm busy with course 1, lesson 6 and was trying to activate the SEO plugins while watching the 'getting your website SEO ready' video. But I'm struggling with the activation button, because the ones in the video and the ones in my admin portal are not the same. Someone, please explain to me what I need to do to access/activate these?

do you see in your wp dashboard menu 'plugins', click there and see a menu comes up and installed plugins in one of the items, click that and your plugins appear and those that need activated have an activate link live in blue waiting for you to click

QUESTION #1: How much money would you be happy earning?
$45.000 is enough for me.

QUESTION #2: How much would you be ecstatic earning?
$35,000 would be already a great first start accomplishment.

QUESTION #3: And how much TIME are you willing to invest to achieve these goals?
6/7 hours per day and even more if I need to
Reply

Serena, That is awesome... and you are definitely go to accomplish that!

But it is all about a mindset... the first question is "happy with" that is comfortable and takes care of the bills and basic life style. But "ecstatic" is a little more beyond what you have done in the past... so for example, if you were able to make $70,000 or $75,000 with the same amount of effort... you would not turn that away would you? LOL - So you would be "ecstatic" to receive $70K with the same amount of effort!

So $45K might be the commitment... but $70K might be the goal!

It is all about taking the right "Income Producing Activities".... You are going to definitely going to achieve your goals... and you are already on the right track!

Blessings... Carpe Diem!

I do have a few questions for my niche I think my niche will be com[plicated because there are only three things that interest me. 1. Cooking 2. Music 3. relationships I love watching movies and shows about drama. I like gossip it excites me I like talking about relationships. Could I use create a niche for relationship advice? What products can I use for that if I use that niche? What products would be people be interested in if they have a bad break up or a great night?
Reply
Inaeliza Premium
Hi! Relationship is a great niche! Products that you could use are: books, relationship trainings, coaching (maybe you find a great love coach and you could recommend him/her. I know that I also need one sometime:) ), you could also recommend what type of gifts to make for different occasions or the money subject in a relationship. At some point, you could make a part of your website to be available only for those who pay a membership fee (i saw somebody doing this and I think is a great idea).
Reply
Thank you so much I do already have a book about relationships on barnes and nobles and amazon .com but I have not invested with in myself none knows me. Wrote five years ago but maybe this could be a good start for me to get people to invest in my book.
Reply

Hi Kimberly, relationships is a great niche especially becuase you love talking about it a lot. You can certainly give and offer advice on different situations. You can suggest certain themes date nights (supplies for it could be products you can suggest). I bet you there are tons of affiliate programs for “adult toys” you could suggest for the bedroom as well. There are many ways you can monetize, ads as well when you get lots of traffic, but yes your book could be a new way for you to market your book. There are many possibilities! :)
Reply

Congratulations on writing a book! This is great! Use your website to promote it, the social media. Use the book to create your e-mail list etc. There are so many options! Make giveaways. Start from here and scale it up. Just don't let yourself overwhelmed: one step at a time and any step (big or small) is better than none.
Reply
But the book is not that good because my publishing company messed up somethings and none has read it and did I mention that I wrote it five years ago and know one knows me. I don't have a campaign manager.

How do you create an email list and what do I give away?

Hi! I feel the exact same way, I love cooking, traveling, tvshows, and relationship. I think that anything that has to do with love and relationships can be sold easily (think of all teenagers girls who look for advices on internet when they feel sad--I had been one of them).

I had a comment earlier from someone (who knows, might have been you) that I can't find anywhere. I was asking if I should buy a domain right now or just use the free one for now. The commenters replied that the .siterubix.com one "would get ranked". Kind of what to get a little clarification on that.

You can work on your free domain as long as you want. I heard some people here selling well with site rubix sites.
They definitly get indext and ranked if better or worse and how much I couldn't say.

Love this site content editor. Question, I already have a domain name that I want to purchase, but started working on these lessons using the .siterubix.com. Am I wasting my time doing it on there and if so, should I purchase the name I want and switch it over from there?
Reply
LeeMcQuay Premium
SiteRubix domains will rank.
However, if you are afraid of the domain not being available when you go to purchase it, then I would go ahead and buy it.
Or you can just keep the SiteRubix domain too.

You can take your time with swithching to our own domain. If you found your favorite domain name and it is available I would buy it before someone else buys it.

Even better if you try to catch their email address you have a customer for the future.
So far in the courses, I have not seen anything about building your email list yet.

magistudios did a month long series on building email lists, and also any reference to autoresponders is that too

Yes, in a number of ways. Magistudios the live coach has a series of trainings on Local SEO for brick and mortar businesses But the basic training is a great foundation for setting up a website properly to get traffic and then the local SEO is a few specific tweaks on top of that

if you are selling from your site there is a plugin called woocommerce, but best to start out with the training and get a solid foundation for the other different ways you want to use your site

ask questions as you go along

Kyle or whoever lol:

I kind of had a plan before I joined WA and I kind of want to incorporate it after I watch all this training and become a premium member. I have kind of had 5 niche categories picked out even before I joined WA. These 5 categories all kind of relate to each other and I can pick multiple sub-niche's from each category. I want to build a site one by one for each of these sub-niche's and have them link to each other. I kind of already have a brand type name for this whole thing and created social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, and Google +) that can be used by all these sites since they can all kind of relate to each other. What do you think?
Reply
JasonGB Premium
Sounds like you have a plan, and a well thought out plan. That is a huge benefit. Just make sure that your niche is something you really love, especially if you will link many sites...as you'll need to write a lot...it is never hard if your sites are about subjects you love...
Creating linked and common social accounts makes sense, I do the same and it works well...as long as each site makes sense with each other. If you had one site which was health and another was football...it would confuse readers.
Wishing you great success

actually the training and successful superaffiliates advise against taking on 5 niches at once, best to start with one and when you master that then expand. You've a better chance of succeeding with one than 5, and can also link to more afterwards

working through the training will give you a better idea, and find out who the superaffiliates are and look at their journey in this

I need some extra brainpower to narrow down my niche if needed. (sorry if this gets a bit lengthy)

I’m a graphic designer/animator at heart. Not the best, not the worst, no bachelor’s, self taught, but I love it. I’m wanting to design my site around helping new online businesses establish their brand identity...logos, logo animations/intro videos, advertisements, and maybe even help with Wordpress sites since we’re learning that here. Pretty much exactly what I will be doing for myself while building my business here lol. And for those wanting to start a business from scratch, I’ll send them here ;)

That’s what I really want to build a business around, but I’m still concerned it’ll be to broad.

I think what you are wanting to do is awesome. I would love to be taught about graphic design. I have no imagination nor the talent to even create a GOOD logo.
I don't know really how to answer this, but I can tell you who might be the person you could ask about this and that would be Loes. Typer her name in the search bar on your Wealthy Affiliate page.
She is awesome and I believe she might be able to help you.

when i create an interest to build a web site am i building a business i want or can it be one im already associated with? For example if my wife has a event planning business and i want to list it but include catering and ballon decorations and themes can i?

You certainly can do event planning. Whatever you choose you need to be interested enough to write content about it, provide information that your readers want to know.

This is the basis of an online business, writing content that your readers want to read, so if you can do that about event planning then go for it.

If you have your own hobby or passion you could choose that. You can post in here any ideas and people with more experience than I will be able to provide feedback.

I pick it out I thought I put it in place. How do I go about making the correction. I went back through the training, but it looks like I would have to put the title, and website address Title in place again as well did I understand that right if so is there any way around doing it all over again. And where would I find your answer?

Ok I think I understand what an affiliate website is. Basically you make content that says how great a product is even though it's not your own and you add links to it? So for me I make handmade items so I could use Walmart or Etsy just as an example? Where I buy my yarn and tell people how great the yarn is and add links to my website to Walmart and etsy? And post pictures of my finished products on my site so the people can see how great it came out. Is that the jist of it?
Reply
newmarketpro Premium
You got it right Tristian.
I think you understand how affiliate marketing works now.
Basically you are creating your website, publish content that helps people out there who are searching for information about the product. And if they decide to purchase the product from the link on your website, you'll get the commission.

:)

Thank you so much for a quick response! I'm really glad I understand!
Reply
ellford Premium
That's a GREAT niche idea for you, as it's something you know intimately about. You can even do "product reviews" on your site, comparing different yarns. Another thing you can do on your site is a "how to" section where you talk about how to choose/select a yarn and you can break it down further into Blankets, Sweaters, Socks and for each of those, you can write a paragraph or two about the types of yarn you use for those.

You can also do something regarding "accessories" like needles and storage containers for your knitting needles, etc.

Each of those could be discussing the products and doing reviews.

What a super niche you have there!
Reply
brokwebb Premium
That's a pretty good overview of how the process works. To expand eventually you start to review other yarns for example. If it's great you can also promote it but if you don't think it's as good as the one you use you can recommend what you use over it. If someone decides to buy either yarn options (or anything from the website) you'll earn a commission!

I already have a niche and I am building my website, but I do have a basic questi:on: If several people have the same niche and similar websites, aren't they in competition to each other? If lots of people choose "weight loss" , there would be a lot of websites with the same subject out there and it would be harder to get customers to me particular website, right? Just wondering ...

Competition is good. You just have to be better than the rest. Are you up for the challenge? Do you know a lot about your niche? Are you good at doing research on your niche to create content? If you answered yes to these questions, then go for it and be better than everyone else in your niche.

I can’t remember the exact figure Kyle says in the training but it’s something like 5.8 billion online users so there is plenty of traffic for everyone.

As Andrea said don’t worry about the competition, the training will guide you through the tips and tricks to get your website noticed.

Pretty new to all this. Recently broke my back and have been spending lots of time on the computer. So I figure I'd give this a try for while since I'm laid up and possibly for quite awhile I'd like to genarate some income since I can no longer work. Any extra pointers would be great

Sorry to hear of your misfortune - on the bright side it has created an opportunity for you.
I suggest you start with the "Get Started Here" tab on the top left.
Do everything as it is laid out in each step. It all comes together and starts to make sense.
Do not expect success overnight.
The harder you work the sooner that will come.
Best of luck

Don't expect this to be a quick income. Those who expect that are most often disappointed. Expect to spend up to a year working to build a quality site with traffic in order to get a steady income.

I published my about post and the privacy policy page, but neither ran the duplicate content check. I know that's not entirely important because the about page is totally unique and the privacy page is totally duplicate, but I want to make sure this feature is working for me in the future.

Yeah, we let the privacy policy one through, because they are all duplicate. But if you create any duplicate content moving forward, it will get caught by our duplicate check platform.

With the help of God the Solution to a non linked Rubix Content page to Word Press occurs if you delete the Page or Post in WordPress it deletes the Link in Rubix. You have to create a new contact in Rubix and re-point it to your Word Press website.

not sure what you meant by a 'non-linked rubix content page to wp' if deleting the page deletes the link in sitecontent!

you seem to be talking about starting over with your page in sitecontent and publishing to your wp site?

deleting pages, well I guess that's new pages you are talking about with no traffic or rank yet...but it is possible to write directly into wp too, it is not a requirement to link all pages to sitecontent

I already had my website registered and hosted on Blue Host before coming to WA. It looks like I can't use the SiteContent platform if I don't have my site hosted through WA. I created a post with SiteContent and it asks for my website name and then it tells me that my site is not registered through WA. Am I correct in assuming I can't use SiteContent in this case?

Attached is blog and video tutorial about it:

you could point your name servers for your site here - rather than moving it - then you have access to all of the features of site content - the other way to do it is to setup a test site and export your content and import it into your site on bluehost.
So there are work arounds for your situation
Good luck

I have completed 9 Lessons and it all came to a dead stop unless I upgrade to Premium. I do not want to upgrade at this stage.

How do I continue to lesson 10 and beyond without upgrading, or is this just another false promise with a clever ruse to blackmail people to upgrade?

Please advise, and I sincerely hope that I am wrong about WA because the whole deal seemed so sincere.

Hello Geoff;
WA is not a scam, the lessons are like going to college (which I never had a chance to do), but courses are very expensive. This way you can take your time and understand everything. Even having the community help you with any questions you may have.

For $19 the 1st month, and $49 each month after, doesn't seem like much for a whole course. You can always drop out whenever you want. But if your website starts making money (depending on
what your niche is) and how you can help others, it can pay for itself. Wishing you all the best.

Bill

You can keep your websites with the free hosting forever, never have to pay hosting.
That is incredible value in itself.

But unless you upgrade then you don't get access to the premium membership content.

The owners are running a business,a very honest, very valuable business and as premium members we get an amazing value for the cost. WA is the best training hands down, with awesome community and as premium you get up 50 hosted domains, keyword tool, site content writer...the list goes on.

if you pay for any another keyword research tool, just by itself it will cost more than this

At the end of the day if its of value, you'll join,if not then i wish you well.
Hope to see you in premium

Here is some training if you are not ready to upgrade quite yet Geoff:

You have to do what makes the most sense to your financial situation, so no issues there. Also, keep working on your website, keep building out keyword targeted content, and stay active within the training/community.

Upgrade at your own pace and what makes the most sense to you. :)

Geoff - when you came over to this site - possibly from an affiliate site were you not told that free membership was for level one training only - for both certification and bootcamp. you also get access to two free sites for you to do with as you please within the wa program.
There is no ruse to blackmail you, you are very welcome to stay a free member for as long as you please, feel free to use the top search bar to find out how much information you have access to for free.
on this site you are guided to making a complete business online - do you really want that for free? isn't that worth the small fee - compared to a lot of others?

Hey,
I followed all the steps in setting a privacy policy page. However, I viewed the site and the page isn't in the home page, but only when I looked for it in the search box. In my privacy page, there is a comment section, even though I set it as a page. Can anyone please tell me what is going on. Thanks in advance.

You need to add your Privacy Page to your menu. I have mine in the footer menu but you can decide which menu you attach it too.

Go to WP dashboard, menus, then find the menu you want and add it either as a main menu item or a sub menu depending on where you want it to appear.

Open the page in WP and scroll right down the bottom you will see noindex and nocomment check boxes, click those and update, and your done.

I have a question - I have my own web hosting, that hosts upwards of 20 domains. I originally purchased the site hosting to learn Joomla and Drupal, but I have these other 19 domains that I can host off it.

That said - Can I just build my own Wordpress site there, or do I need to use the SiteRubix in order to use any affiliate marketing stuff? I also own my own domain for my niche.

Hello,
I have read all content, so I chosen children clothing for my niche. so when I begin driving customers it would be containing to baby clothing. My question is being a single mother of two. divorce and how I had to adjust my life that's really what I want to drive on my page. I want to give advice, share discounts, I don't feel that the chosen name goes with the topic. Is it possible to create a single mother page as well
Reply
Bald Eagle Premium
Sorry Aalia0423 - your question is not clear to me.
Have you chosen a domain name?
Sounds like you want to target single mums and promote discounted children's clothing to them?
Is that right?
Reply

I'm by no means an expert (new like yourself), but it sounds like you 'really' want to give advice on being a single mom, divorce, etc. and then leverage sales of baby/children's clothes.

Why not do both on one site and go with a name like:

AaliasAdvice
Aaliasmommyhelper

There's a LOT of traffic that gets generated from blogging in the mommy advice area, so if you're into blogging, this could also be something to leverage. Just a thought...

Hey Allesha ! First I'd like to welcome you to WA premium. You made a great choice in coming here to pursue your dreams.

As for your niche if I were in your shoes I would try to angle for the money saving, helpful, single mother approach. Some will argue that that is too broad of a niche, but I think that you could pull it off.

Domain names are not very important for ranking purposes anymore. Google uses a smart scanner to figure out what your site is about without such a large emphasis on you telling it.

I wouldn't pick a name like beerstore.com for your site, but singlemomhelp or Alleshasmomblog or familyfriendlytips would work. By being a little broader you would have plenty to write content about or do reviews about.

You'd have a multitude of ways to monetize this as well. From clothes to family friendly budget trips. If you are comfortable with social media I believe that you could blow this up big quickly. I've taken this approach on a site and believe that it will do well. You'll always have people that disagree and that's fine. Just prove them wrong.

If you already chose a domain name or want to talk about it some more feel free to pm me and I'll be happy to offer my thoughts, advice, or whatever you feel that you would need to help you out in your online journey. I've always been the guy that roots for the underdog.

Best of luck to you!

Hi, Aalia. I think you could promote your children's clothing niche and discuss why you started your site -- being a single mom-- as well as promote WA to help other singles mothers start their own business all on one site.

Or, you could create the children's clothing site first and get it up and running. Then later you could launch another site discussing topics for single mothers, etc. You could also link the two sites.

I hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck.

I built the website and downloaded only to find that it did not have the graphics I had chose. It was just a page with text. Showing my web site name and where to place text but no graphics. I tried to redo the site but was told I needed to delete the original website. I went back but couldn't find any place to delete the site. I am totally frustrated. What can I do to get the theme I want with graphics?

Did your theme come with documentation? If so, download the files and documentation. This will be a zip file, open it up... if you click on the documentation it will walk you through for that specific theme.

I consulted on of our Own Members LABMAN- His name is Craig Hughes. Set my site up for $100 and is beautiful and ready to go --www.cellphoneportablechargers.com what we get is just a Blog Roll page when pick our themes. Bill, you can change theme at any time, any of your information will be transferred from theme to theme. You can look at, activate, and try as many themes as you want, one at a time. You may also need to get the plugin Woo commerce to get the theme you choose to work. There are many that are made specifically for stores. Store one is one that I saw.
Reply
ericcantu Premium
When you select a theme, you're able to see a live preview of what it can look like, but this isn't going to be what it looks like when you first activate it. It will be in its bare bones state, and you'll have to customize it to have it look similar to its live demo.

Most themes have documentation that come with them, and usually have instructions for customizing it so it looks like the demo. The more complex the theme, the more of a learning curve there is to achieving that customized look.

That's why early on it's usually best to choose a simpler theme, like the way Kyle shows in the training. As you progress and get more comfortable customizing a theme, you can get better at customizing them and using themes with more bells and whistles.

Hi Guys

Question: If I set up a website, build content etc and 5 months down the line I decide to stop my premium membership to WA does that website still belong to me?

How does the legalities work? Must I be a member to run any websites I start and build from within WA?

Thanks in advance for your help

Nope, it's your site. You'd have to move it to another host within 30 days
Reply
kdforsman Premium
This is probably a question for SiteSupport, as you may have features or plugins on your website that are only available to premium members. If you downgrade at a later stage, it may be easier to move the whole website and domain to a different hosting provider. This will only work if you have purchased your own domain name - you won't be able to transfer it if it's a siterubix.com domain.

Another option - is to do what I did, which is wait until the Black Friday sale (annual) take advantage of the discounted rate and go yearly - it's saving me a ton. Cheers, Karen

Do I need to wait till I think I am finished with the "about me" section before publishing, or should I publish as soon as I have some content? I seems that this could take a long time to finish and I am unsure if I should delay until I complete this or move forward while it is still a "work in progress"/
Reply
Kyoko817 Premium
As long as you have the content followed by the course instruction, I think you can publish the post, but I would encourage you to put out "about me" page as soon as possible. I know the page is about you and you want to think through it, but don't over think and naturally introduce yourself. Eventually about me page is where quite a lot of people visit, so having this page is crucial.

From my own experience, I see more success by strictly following the successful people's instruction than changing around based on my feeling. This step-by-step course is created for a reason. Your concern is not significant for the overall website building process, but the key is to follow the steps.

Good luck!

Were you able to get this solved?
If not, go into word press, go to site manager and log in. Go to pages on the left menu. When it brings up your privacy policy don't click on it. If you hover over it you will see edit and quick edit. Click on quick edit. Over to the right there will be a box that says"allow comments"
If it has the check mark in it, click on the box to take it out. This should solve your issue if it hasn't been solved already.

Here is some information according to one of the WA owners, Kyle.

Here is how your journey could look, a realistic journey.

MONTH 1: Accomplishments
Website Set Up
SEO Set-up
Initial Framework of Content
Indexed by Google, Bing, Yahoo
You have 5-10 posts on your website
Earning Potential: A few sales, just getting your business foundation started

MONTH 3: Accomplishments
Content Starting to Get Ranked
Experience Some Big Breakthroughs in Search
Have Made Your First Sale or Two
Traffic is Cumulatively Starting to Grow
Search Engines are starting to give your site "authority"
You have 30-60 posts on your website
Earning Potential: $0-$500 per month

**Kyle's Note: It took me 3 months to make my first sale online. Here I am 15 years later full time online, if I quit in the first month I would have never gotten to the experience of lifelong and very fruitful business online. There is something to be said about being patient and not expecting "instant" success in business.

MONTH 6: Accomplishments
Traffic is starting to flow, ideally 100 uniques per day
Sales start to increase with consistency, several per week
You are truly starting to gain some expertise and brand
Bing/Yahoo start indexing your site at a higher rate
Engagement on your site starts to increase
You have 60-100 posts on your site
Earning Potential: $500-$3,000 per month

ONE YEAR:
Traffic is really starting ramp up. You can expect 500+ visits per day
Google is granting your site with some serious authority
Companies and other blogger start to reach out and connect with you
You are making WA sales and other affiliate sales daily
The Vegas Super Affiliate Conference is in your sites
You have 100-150 posts on your website
Earning Potential: $3,000-$10,000 per month
Reply
I'm wondering that myself.

Great break down, everyone is different of course and different people achieve success at different rates.

One thing remains consistent though. You have access to everything that you need to create and grow your business online here at WA. The time and energy you put into your business, the results you will get out of your business.

If you need a hand with anything at all moving forward just ask.
