Search engines like Google, Bing & Yahoo are after ONE thing. The most relevant content.

If you can build out your website in a way that is ready for SEO (as discussed in the last lesson) and create quality, relevant content, you are going to have a bright journey ahead of you within the online world.

The thing that most people stress about is being a "writer", you DO NOT have to be a writer to be successful online.

You simply need to communicate with your audience, the same way that you would with a friend or a family member. And if you put the emphasis on helping people, you are going to be able to build trust, which is going to lead to long term and sustainable success online.

SiteContent, a Writer's Dream Platform

As both a Starter/Premium member, you have access to the SiteContent platform here at Wealthy Affiliate. This platform offers you some incredible features as a writer that will lead to more efficiency, accuracy, and speed with your content creation.

You can access the SiteContent platform through the SiteRubix menu.

SiteContent offers you some unbelievable features that are going to make your life as a "blogger" much more efficient.

  • 100's of critical grammar and spelling checks
  • Duplicate content checker
  • Automated publishing directly to your website
  • Writing goals and accomplishments
  • SEO analysis and checks
  • Content structure analysis
  • Ability to template content
  • Vocabulary enhancement suggestions

This is where you are going to be creating all of your content moving forward. You will be setting writing goals and leveraging the "feature rich" platform for writing. If you are worried about your writing skills, the SiteContent interface is going to help you understand where you are making writing errors and help you correct them in a very efficient manner.

It is going to be your go to writing tool moving forward and it is exclusive to Wealthy Affiliate members only!

I have created a little walk-through of SiteContent, showing you around the platform and how to best benefit from it.

DISCUSS VIDEO: Creating Your Initial Framework of Content

Task 1: Creating Your "About Me" POST

To establish a brand online in any niche, you need to build trust with your audience. The best way to initially do this is through an "about me" style page. Every successful website will have some information about their brand, who they are and why they want to help people.

Your first task today is going to be to create your About Me page and you are going to be doing this directly within the SiteContent platform.

Within your Templates tab, you are going to see that you already have the framework for your About Me page already outlined.

Simply click on the About Me template and it will take you into the SiteContent editor. This is where you will be creating your content for your About Me page.

The first thing you are going to want to do is choose a title that is appropriate for your about me page. There are several options that I suggest you choose from in terms of your naming convention.

  • About Me
  • About NAME (ex. About Kyle)
  • About SITE (ex. About Real Deal Affiliate, About RDA)
  • About Us

The most natural and the option that I have always used because I feel it resonates and creates the most trust is "About Me" or "About Kyle", because it is the most direct. It feels like I am here for you and I am here to help (which is the case with every site I create).

Then you will want to populate the content. Do know that this is just a guideline, as you edit this post you can add new headings and of course you are in full control of the content and your story.

This is not a rigid exercise here, you are YOUR OWN brand and you can build out your content in any way you like, but this will give you a good guideline here.

After your are done doing this you will be click the Publish button in the right corner, just above your editor. This is going to allow you to publish directly to your website (see below).

Upon clicking Publish, you will get a pop-up that will allow you to choose how you want to publish the content. This is a 4 step process.

Step 1: You will want to choose your website that you want to Publish to, in this case it will be my "basketballskillsanddrills.siterubix.com" website.

Step 2: Choose "Post", not a "Page". The reason is all POSTS allow for comments on them and this is a page on my website where I am going to want to allow people to leave comments and feedback. Pretty much every article you publish moving forward will be done so as a "Post".

Step 3: Choose the user. If this is a new site, you will likely only have an Admin user. That is fine, choose that as your user.

Step 4: Choose the URL plug. Leave it "as is". You shouldn't need to change your URL plug, this is something that you can leave.

The Click Publish. Upon doing so, SiteContent is going to run a duplicate content check, and then publish the content to your website. Since you wrote your About Me page it will be 100% unique.

Task 2: Adding Your "Privacy Policy" PAGE

All major affiliate programs and all advertising platforms require that you have a "Privacy Policy" on your website. This is a formality more than anything and it is very much a standardized document.

You are going to want to load up the Privacy Policy Template from your templates.

Upon doing so, you will get a standardized Privacy Policy page. You are just going to need to make a few edits within the content to update this Privacy Policy and make it relevant to your website.

Change YOURDOMAIN.com => Your Website URL

In the case of my website, I changed it to basketballskillsanddrills.siterubix.com. There about 10-11 instances of this that you will need to update within the Privacy Policy.

Then you will want to change:

Change YOUREMAIL@YOUREMAIL.com => Your Email Address

This could be any email you want, you could even create a free gmail account for the purpose of this. Or if you don't feel comfortable leaving your email at the moment, this can be something that you provide to people at a later date.

Upon updating the YOURDOMAIN.com and YOUREMAIL@YOUREMAIL.com to your website details, you will want to Publish the Privacy Policy to your website.

Publish as a Page.

The reason you want to create this as a Page, not a Post is because Pages don't allow for comments. You don't want people commenting on your Privacy Policy, whereas you are going to want to allow for comments and engagement on the rest of your website (as it is good for rankings).

**Note: Your Privacy Policy is duplicate content because it is a stand document. SiteContent is going to warn you about this when you attempt to publish, and that is completely fine. Publish anyways, we are going to be blocking the search engines from seeing this.

After you publish your Privacy Policy, you are going to want to log into the back office of your website (Wordpress Admin area) through the SiteManager or through SiteContent. When you are within the editor for this page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see the following settings.

Check off the Robots Meta NOINDEX and the Robots Meta NOFOLLOW. These will make sure this page (which is all duplicate content) does not get indexed in Google. The Privacy Policy is the ONLY page you want to do this for as it is duplicate content.

You are all set with your first few pages of content on your website. Kudos to you for your hard work thus far, in the next lesson we are going to be covering navigation on your website and how to create custom menus. ;)

Tasks 0/3 completed

2. Create & Publish Your "About Me" POST
3. Create & Publish Your Privacy Policy PAGE

So being fairly new and watching only a few videos, I realize that creating a niche is important. Some of the things I feel passionate about would be food, healthy cooking, fitness, martial arts, and health and beauty products. The last because my wife and I plan to launch a line of said products later this year. Of the aforementioned items, what are decent moneymakers and/or attention grabbers?

The four major niche's are health and wellness, beauty and fitness, and wealth. Okay that's five.

Hi there
I would like to choose my niche.
I am Very interested in

Jewellery (precious metals and real gemstones only)
Gemstones (real only)
Slimming products (proven to work only)
Beauty products (look younger niche)
Organic health beauty and cleaning products

Which do you think is best for beginner?

It really doesn't matter which one when you are a beginner Susan. Which one are you most passionate about? Which one do you have the most knowledge of or have used yourself? Usually, this is the best way to go. You have a good list of niches and a break down on some already. Smart.
Reply
I am interested as well, Can you tell me how was it when you started and do you see progress now?
Reply
This is so true it has to be something that you have a high interest and passion for or it is pointless
Reply
MsMerry Premium
It can take anywhere from 3 - 6 months to a year. It all depends on the individual and the niche chosen. If you have a high interest in the products you are promoting then your chances are much better.
I started over a year now but also got very sick and had to take time away. I am actually looking at a new niche finally and into drop shipping as well for 2018.
Don't worry too much about the money if you can. Concentrate on learning the most you can in the training and do not jump ahead.

Hi Kyle,

could you please explain, or even much better, create a video (and let me know by PM me once available) on how to create a review web site (products and price comparison) like "Supplement reviews" as per your video "How to Make Money Online" on Course 1 Lesson 2 ?

In particular prices should be updated automatically, and eventually (if possible) also product descriptions from the original vendor site.

Awaiting your reply.

Thank you.

Cheers :)

Some 8 years ago I had an adsense account on a website but the account was closed by google for apparent click fraud. There was no option to appeal.
Would anyone know if it is worth reapplying for adsense? This time it will be on my own domain.
I also later tried Kontera but that site seems to have died a death.
Are there any other other similar context-serving ad sites?

You probably will be able to read apply for an AdSense account and get it, but first I would recommend you focused on getting your website foundation in place (with content).

Assets is definitely not a requirement to be very successful online, there are much better ways to monetize your traffic once you have it. We are going to be covering this as you move through the training. :)

Thank you for the reassuarance. Hopefully it will help me to focus - I think the vast array of options is quite overwhelming and I find I waste time considering many options instead of focusing on just one - But I have been frustrated given that I was there at the "beginning" of internet opportunities - 1998, and have nothing to show for it.

You do not need to sign up for affiliate companies yet, that is going to be covered as he moved forward through the training (level 3 covers the make money part, affiliate programs in detail).

The first focus is going to be creating your foundation for your business, and working to get your content index, rank, and getting traffic to your website. At that point you can start considering promoting products and services on your website (through affiliate programs or otherwise).

Hi Everyone,

When I started thinking about working online it was to help moms find themselves again by creating balance in their lives. My idea was to discuss journaling, meditation, fitness, eating habits, and ways to entertain and communicate with kids on the days they are driving you crazy. Is this too broad for a niche?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and input.

It is not too broad for a website but the niche is not defined in a word yet. A niche would be like "moms find yourself" or "mother's little helpers" or something like that

Am I correct in understanding that I don't actually need to know anything about a product, it helps if do, if I like it and if I would purchase it, but I can generate income from any product?

If this is so, would I make a website specific to each product or is it better to have a theme and one website?

Thank you in advance for your help :)

This may be a bit off topic, but I thought I would share this. I guess you could say this is a new goal I have in mind.

Since I am visually impaired, and since I don't have a lot of money right now, I use public transportation on a regular basis. Yesterday happened to be one of those times. I was traveling with my guitar, since a friend and I were going to jam out together. We write songs together and things like that.

I don't usually have any issues carrying my guitar with me on the bus system. However, this time around, a homeless guy got on the bus, and proceeded to try to take the guitar from me, claiming that it was his. I fought him off, along with some other folks, and the police came and got him off the bus.

I'm saying all this because I now have a new goal in mind because of this incident. I am going to try to start making money as fast as possible with my website. In this way I will be able to start using Lyft and Uber a lot more, since the majority of Uber and Lyft drivers are extremely nice people. Then I won't have to worry about getting on those buses with crazy people anymore! ☺️

I'm on a mission now, my friends! There is dinero to be made!

I am thinking of starting a site where I consolidate men's self-improvement resources, give recommendations on them, and link to them. I am thinking of branding it "Manlier". My question, though, is whether I should make it all one consolidated website or have several on the different topics such as fitness, social skills, and money. If I did the latter, I could base them on the same brand and make it, say, ManlierFitness or ManlierMoney. What do you think would be a better idea?

Then build out your site gradually. Selling your own products is harder than affiliate marketing because you have to develop the productions but you get to keep all the profits.

I am going to browse to see what is out there on my topics of interest to decide if I might be able to do mostly affiliate marketing to guide customers to products in these areas. I think that I would rather work as an affiliate than market my own products.

I think member blogs and member provided training is available to free members. Also, there are lots of people here that will help you so don't hesitate to ask questions.

Question:

when looking at a niche, a review site for example, where we would review various products, kitchen, home products, etc..

Is it best to stay specific such as only do kitchen product reviews and use a domain with kitchen in it?

OR

Is it ok to go wider and use a more generic domain name and review a wider variety of products?

Which works best for SEO or does it even matter?
Reply
edensbox Premium
I would think about how small you want to go really. It depends on you. Is there enough products that you can continue to do your reviews? If you feel that there isn't then go a little larger so that you have more options.

Make sure you do your research on your keywords for each group to see how many options you might really have. It will take a little time doing your research but in the end it will really pay off.

The other part of your question about using kitchen in your domain name, you don't have to use your keyword as your domain name. You could choose anything you think would be relevant or make sense. Remember you are building your brand and you start with your domain name.

Ultimately the choice is yours.
Reply
ScottLindsa1 Premium
I thought it was important to try and use some keywords in your domain name.

I know there is debate on that, but it seems that in most niches the sites that rank still seem to have something related to the niche in their domain name. Maybe this is not true across the board but in niches I have looked at it seems this way.

1st it's 25 siterubix websites, which cost nothing as long as U are premium. A .Com or a .net site would cost less than $15.00. And have another 25 sites as long as you buy a .com or .net etc for each one.

If I read you correctly I could built 25 sites with WA with no cost other then being Premium and if I want to buy a domain it would cost less than 15$,is that cost with WA?

WA offers the "land" for free for every member here. If you want to buy your own "house" on this land, (a website without the extension http://xyz.siterubix.com, as you don't like how your site name looks) will cost you 14$/year, it will have the form -http://www.yourdomain.com and yes, you can buy it from here. You go in the left hand menu, site rubix -> site builder > register a domain (the right side option in green).
You can buy upto 25 domains with the .com (but it will be 14$/year each, so of course everyone recommends only one at the beginning, especially that you would need to have 25 different niches for 25 sites!) and you can still use the other 25 free websites on the subdomain site rubix. Personally, I have a free site-rubix and a domain website, with total different topics, and I can deal with them both, but if I would have 20 free sites and 10 domains....I think I would be in a lunatic house by now :)))

That is great ! With a clear goal like that, you'll just need to take action for it to actualize!

Personally. I did up a goal list and each of those goals matter to me a lot. I placed it on my work desk as a constant reminder of why am I working harder now. You can probably try to do that too if you would like. Just make sure the goals are SMART.

Well my nitch is chosen, and my web site is being built. My passion is the guitar, which I have been playing for awhile, so I'm excited to be starting out with focusing on guitar strings for now, and then digging deeper into playing guitar, as well as guitar maintenance, as I really get this business on the road. Perhaps I will learn some new stuff about the guitar as well. Very exciting!

I will be your 1st fan. My husband plays and I will recommend your website. He finds people who plays new songs so he can copy and learn all the time. I believe that's a good niche. Good luck! I am just a beginner to.

Hello guys,

I am glad that I joined your community and hope I would succeed in online business.

I would like to know what kind of payment methods are available to withdraw money? I am from Uzbekistan and we still don't have payment systems like PayPal. Is there any possibility to send check to the address I provide and get them cashed?

Best Regards,

I read one of Kyle comment;
If you are a Premium member, you can use the Move feature to move all of the old content from the old domain to your new one and this will make it so you don't lose any of your existing work you have done on your domain.
I am a Premium member since Jan16,2018.
I am using wealthy affiliate in my site title and it look's like it is not a good idea. Now that it is done, what can I do to correct that?Any help is appreciated

Did you buy your new domain name yet? It can be anything you like, it does not have to be the same as in Siterubix.

You will be able to use the one-click process to move your siterubix site to your own domain name. Think carefully about the name you choose for your 'owned' domain because once it is paid for and registered, you will not be able to change it. ~Jude

Hello all. I'm new starter, and need help with "choose your nicle". I have two ideas about nicle:
1. 1st Nicle: must- have things in home for cat lovers. I don't know what i am going to write the content of this nicle on my future post ( since i'm at step "choosing nicle"). This nicle is specific enough or not? If not, any suggestion. Thank you.
2. 2nd nicle: refresh your skin to impression your love ones. Should I sign up affiliate program before i post the content about this nicle? Or This nicle doesn't good enough? Thank you.

judebanks Premium
You can certainly build out either of those niches. Choose the one you enjoy the most and can see yourself writing a lot of content and not get bored.

I personally like cat lovers because it is a more specific target market and therefore a bit easier to do well with it.

Do not sign up for any affiliate programs until you do the training that tells you to do so. First you must put content on your website and start building traffic. Some affiliate programs will not accept your website if they see little content and no traffic so that comes first. ~Jude

Easy start of a web page, thank you. Two questions, first of all on the web page it has the first post on it and says to edit or delete, but I can not find how to do that. I can add new posts and edit top title area. I am sure it is simple, just not seeing it. Second question, I was stupid and bought my own domain and had it put into Hostgator, can I transfer that from Hostgator and into here, or am I wise to run that host out and use it in some way? thanks
Reply
JGuhlke Premium
Unfortunately you cannot transfer that domain until 60 days I believe. For the other question, you have to look at the All Posts area, find the post you want to edit or delete, and move the mouse to that area. i think the little menu becomes visible only when you mouse over it.
All the Best

The part to get them interested in trying this opportunity will be in french. What kind of keyword should I be looking at that would be in french to catch the interest of google and others seo to rank my page at the top and also the person doing the research.
This is maybe a tough question and I am awaiting any help you can offer me to complete that task.

Very informative, but in my opinion, It's a good idea to create a landing page, not actually landing page but a website that you can promote only one specific product for example make money online or how to give up smoking or something else and with your content and your promotional and motivational words do them to purchase.Do you believe that this works better than other more general websites?
Reply
nathaniell Premium
More general websites will work better long term. If you are selling just one product, then yes, a landing page can work as a way to promote the product, but you still have to send traffic there!

With a multi-page website you actually get organic traffic from Google to your website. With a single-page landing page, you'll be reliant on paid traffic or referral traffic. Google simply won't rank a single-page website most of the time!
Reply
koka8 Premium
I absolutely agree with this. I hadn't thought! I think landing page is only profitable if I create paid campagns in social media and ppc
Reply
CannCoder Premium
It your keeps your audience focused. And gives them away to buy now.
Reply
koka8 Premium
Exactly, this is the reason that I'm thinking to create landing page. because it's more commercial and solve people's problem specifically. I don't know I have to choose. Please tell me Is it better to promote only a specific product or many?
Reply
Having multiple resources for them to buy...example when I buy something from Amazon they show me what other people who purchased the product I bought also purchased...and many times people who purchase a product want the "add on" products...example maybe I want to buy a reverse osmosis water filtration system...so I would offer them books on water and things related to water products, or other whole house water features.

Hi everyone, so I've finished the level 1 training but I can't afford for premium at the moment. And now I'm confused about how do I become affiliated with.. let's say amazon?
I tried looking for how to add links but then I found that I have to become an affiliate of amazon first so I can get the credit. So how do I do that? for amazon or maybe some other affiliates

I think I missed something from the lesson tho, but I only have 22 hours left to ask questions, so I kind of want to use it and say hi to everyone :)

You will learn about becoming affiliated with Amazon in the future. Right now you're building your foundation which you can completely do without becoming a premium member. That can be done when it works for you!

Hi, and welcome to your online journey.
have you gone through the bootcamp level 1 training - i think this is free also.
becoming an affiliate with amazon is just apply for the affiliate status on the relevant amazon site - but in america you need sales within the first 6 months or your account is terminated, don't let that scare you though.
Concentrate on looking for opportunities to add value to others, promote WA - if you manage to get a few referrals then you can afford to upgrade to premium.
or if your niche is really hungry and you know what they need - find this through google as an affiliate program.
You can practice adding links with your affiliate link ( click on the airplane above - linksaand tracking)
to add a link you copy the link and then highlight the text you want the link inserted in and click the chain menu item - paste the link into te box - click on the gear and tick the open in a new window - then click ok.
you have done it.
If you are committed to this and are really enjoying it, get the money together for a yearly subscription - you don't need to worry about it then. start with te $19 first month discount, make sure you really enjoy it and then go yearly.
Good luck with your online journey
Phil
remember people who have helped you here may have contact pages of fb pages - we are a friendly bunch.

You sign up as an Amazon Affiliate from Amazon's website. Here is the link...

Well, I'm on starter plan so I can't post a link here but its at the bottom of Amazon's main page.
Reply
Kyle Premium
You will get there as you go through the training, the first focus with your website is to build out the foundation, the content and get rankings. Once you have rankings and traffic then you can focus on what you are going to promote.

There are 10,000's of affiliate programs and millions of products you are going to be able to promote as an affiliate, don't ever worry about there being nothing to promote within a given niche. There will likely be 100's if not 1,000's of things you can promote. ;)

There is no sense in putting to much thought into what you are going to promote until you have content in place and an audience to promote to. You will definitely get there though!

Hi Salsa,
You will be able to be an Affiliate as soon as your website has all the foundations. So just keep progressing in your learning.

Amazon will not let you join their program if your website is too brand new.

Hi everyone,
When I click on my website which I just finished creating(following the video) I get the message "webspace for this domain has not been setup on this server" -- and then I tried the Rubix Site manager and Domains and did not get anywhere. Would anyone be willing to give me a hand?
Reply
Maddy55 Premium
If you went to the SiteRubix Manager and did not see your website there, with a Log in button, then you don't have a Domain and Website set up. If you followed all the steps and it is very recent, then just wait a bit longer for WA 's system to finish getting it live.

Hi,

I already have few niches in mine.
As I do interest in Art, I hope art supplies will do?
Such as brushes, painting (watercolor, oil painting, acrylic paint, etc), or maybe other supplies will do.
So should I elaborate more on this kind of niche? or I'm already in the right track?

Art supplies excellent idea. Ideas, you could do posts on "best easels for oil painting", "best acrylic paint for portraits", how to mount your finished watercolor", reviews on products you find.

Hi Lnorton1,

It is OK, I got lost many times and people here helped me, so don't worry.

What I did was I opened another browswer and paused the video at each step, did the action on my site in the other browser, then came back to the video, unpaused it, and continued all the way through the training like that.

This answer your question Lnorton1?

Philip.

The snuck helmet eg:
so can a WA member have more than one website, you mention that this particular person built a website specifically for snuck helmets, or it was a smaller web in a main website? just thinking if this person is not just selling that product, but many other, would they have to build more websites?

You can have several websites, no problem, but more limited if not Premium member.
A premium member has a very large amount of features and training that will take you all the way if you are consistent.

Jay, the guy who makes most of the training video classes here, once had a niche around Snack Helmets and did well with it. Jay has videos on choosing a product Niche, and building one out before your eyes. As a Premium member, you have access to all those videos. Many successful people here have 3-5 websites. I am building out my second one here in WA. Focus your attention on one first. My record seems to be one website per year, working one each one quite intensely, almost every day.

How much do I have to spend? All the features you want me to use like Plug-ins want me to pay money and go Premium. I'm sick of being asked to spend more and more when I haven't made a god damn dime off of this yet, especially since the $50 that Wealth Affiliates costs to be premium just overdrew my checking account yesterday and cost me a $39.00 overdraft fee.
Reply
CoachGom Premium
For now, that $50 is enough. You do not need to spend more. Maybe later when you finish your lesson and already understand how money is being made online.

Just go on with the lessons, learn from Kyle, and you will see the big picture of all these things assembled together to help you succeed online.

Sorry to hear about the overdraft.
There are no upsells here.
Plugins are free, themes are free. You can make use of these free tools to create a decent website.
Once you have gone through the training you may decide to purchase items to support your business; I recently purchased a Premium theme however, its not necessary. It was my own choice as I like the idea that I can make changes to the code and tweak things exactly how I want.

Stick with the training. You will see that it is worth it in the end.

All the best.

I have been here now for over a year, and I am building my second website. I never go Pro or upgrade on a plug in or Theme, there are plenty of free ones that work very well. Remember, someone made those Themes and Plug ins, with their own talent and time, and the only way they see a dime, is if someone upgrades. I went yearly about 6 months in, because it's cheaper and I know that it can take a website 6 months to a year to become successful (depending also on the quality of the content and effort). I had a couple of serious set backs on my first website, it became unverifyed twice, meaning my website became disconnected from Google. It's been about 3 1/2 months now since fixing it again, and I recently made $8 commission on a $100 product that someone bought. I get frustrated too, as I have spent so much time and effort on my site. I am trying a different niche entirely now, hoping it makes money quicker than my first. No business is built in a couple of months or even a year. I love writing, so this is my choice.

I want to start something and finishing it with rewarding results for once in my life. What is some good advice for someone who just learnt about this and is just getting started?
Reply

The best advice is to follow the training step-by-step and then take action on everything you learn. When you follow the training you will learn everything you need to create a successful online website. Be sure to ask questions if you need help with anything.
Reply
BarryBullard Premium
I completely understand how you feel and it is common to feel that way at the start. There will be a rough period at the start where you are doing the right things consistently and not getting any results. Pushing through this period will pay off as each action builds on each other until the traction will blow you away. Overall advice: Focus on the power of one. One thing until it's done and then move onto the next thing. You will accomplish much more this way.
Advice on getting started: take each lesson one at a time and do the tasks. Share your success even if it's just finishing the lessons and completing the tasks.

You are in the right place for online success.
