Search engines like Google, Bing & Yahoo are after ONE thing. The most relevant content.

If you can build out your website in a way that is ready for SEO (as discussed in the last lesson) and create quality, relevant content, you are going to have a bright journey ahead of you within the online world.

The thing that most people stress about is being a "writer", you DO NOT have to be a writer to be successful online.

You simply need to communicate with your audience, the same way that you would with a friend or a family member. And if you put the emphasis on helping people, you are going to be able to build trust, which is going to lead to long term and sustainable success online.

SiteContent, a Writer's Dream Platform

As both a Starter/Premium member, you have access to the SiteContent platform here at Wealthy Affiliate. This platform offers you some incredible features as a writer that will lead to more efficiency, accuracy, and speed with your content creation.

You can access the SiteContent platform through the Websites menu.

SiteContent offers you some unbelievable features that are going to make your life as a "blogger" much more efficient.

  • 100's of critical grammar and spelling checks
  • Duplicate content checker
  • Automated publishing directly to your website
  • Writing goals and accomplishments
  • SEO analysis and checks
  • Content structure analysis
  • Ability to template content
  • Vocabulary enhancement suggestions

This is where you are going to be creating all of your content moving forward. You will be setting writing goals and leveraging the "feature rich" platform for writing. If you are worried about your writing skills, the SiteContent interface is going to help you understand where you are making writing errors and help you correct them in a very efficient manner.

It is going to be your go to writing tool moving forward and it is exclusive to Wealthy Affiliate members only!

I have created a little walk-through of SiteContent, showing you around the platform and how to best benefit from it.

DISCUSS VIDEO: Creating Your Initial Website Content (Framework)

Task 1: Creating Your "About Me" POST

To establish a brand online in any niche, you need to build trust with your audience. The best way to initially do this is through an "about me" style page. Every successful website will have some information about their brand, who they are and why they want to help people.

Your first task today is going to be to create your About Me page and you are going to be doing this directly within the SiteContent platform.

Within your Templates tab, you are going to see that you already have the framework for your About Me page already outlined.

Simply click on the About Me template and it will take you into the SiteContent editor. This is where you will be creating your content for your About Me page.

The first thing you are going to want to do is choose a title that is appropriate for your about me page. There are several options that I suggest you choose from in terms of your naming convention.

  • About Me
  • About NAME (ex. About Kyle)
  • About SITE (ex. About Real Deal Affiliate, About RDA)
  • About Us

The most natural and the option that I have always used because I feel it resonates and creates the most trust is "About Me" or "About Kyle", because it is the most direct. It feels like I am here for you and I am here to help (which is the case with every site I create).

Then you will want to populate the content. Do know that this is just a guideline, as you edit this post you can add new headings and of course you are in full control of the content and your story.

This is not a rigid exercise here, you are YOUR OWN brand and you can build out your content in any way you like, but this will give you a good guideline here.

After your are done doing this you will be click the Publish button in the right corner, just above your editor. This is going to allow you to publish directly to your website (see below).

Upon clicking Publish, you will get a pop-up that will allow you to choose how you want to publish the content. This is a 4 step process.

Step 1: You will want to choose your website that you want to Publish to, in this case it will be my "basketballskillsanddrills.siterubix.com" website.

Step 2: Choose "Post", not a "Page". The reason is all POSTS allow for comments on them and this is a page on my website where I am going to want to allow people to leave comments and feedback. Pretty much every article you publish moving forward will be done so as a "Post".

Step 3: Choose the user. If this is a new site, you will likely only have an Admin user. That is fine, choose that as your user.

Step 4: Choose the URL plug. Leave it "as is". You shouldn't need to change your URL plug, this is something that you can leave.

The Click Publish. Upon doing so, SiteContent is going to run a duplicate content check, and then publish the content to your website. Since you wrote your About Me page it will be 100% unique.

Task 2: Adding Your "Privacy Policy" PAGE

All major affiliate programs and all advertising platforms require that you have a "Privacy Policy" on your website. This is a formality more than anything and it is very much a standardized document.

You are going to want to load up the Privacy Policy Template from your templates.

Upon doing so, you will get a standardized Privacy Policy page. You are just going to need to make a few edits within the content to update this Privacy Policy and make it relevant to your website.

Change YOURDOMAIN.com => Your Website URL

In the case of my website, I changed it to basketballskillsanddrills.siterubix.com. There about 10-11 instances of this that you will need to update within the Privacy Policy.

Then you will want to change:

Change YOUREMAIL@YOUREMAIL.com => Your Email Address

This could be any email you want, you could even create a free gmail account for the purpose of this. Or if you don't feel comfortable leaving your email at the moment, this can be something that you provide to people at a later date.

Upon updating the YOURDOMAIN.com and YOUREMAIL@YOUREMAIL.com to your website details, you will want to Publish the Privacy Policy to your website.

Publish as a Page.

The reason you want to create this as a Page, not a Post is because Pages don't allow for comments. You don't want people commenting on your Privacy Policy, whereas you are going to want to allow for comments and engagement on the rest of your website (as it is good for rankings).

**Note: Your Privacy Policy is duplicate content because it is a stand document. SiteContent is going to warn you about this when you attempt to publish, and that is completely fine. Publish anyways, we are going to be blocking the search engines from seeing this.

After you publish your Privacy Policy, you are going to want to log into the back office of your website (Wordpress Admin area) through the SiteManager or through SiteContent. When you are within the editor for this page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see the following settings.

Check off the Robots Meta NOINDEX and the Robots Meta NOFOLLOW. These will make sure this page (which is all duplicate content) does not get indexed in Google. The Privacy Policy is the ONLY page you want to do this for as it is duplicate content.

You are all set with your first few pages of content on your website. Kudos to you for your hard work thus far, in the next lesson we are going to be covering navigation on your website and how to create custom menus. ;)

Tasks 0/3 completed
1. Watch the "Creating Your Initial Website Framework" Walk-through Video
2. Create & Publish Your "About Me" POST
3. Create & Publish Your Privacy Policy PAGE

Domain —- Title ?? Why two names? Is this what would eventually appear on a search engine? If so then it appears some marketing thought needs to be given to it rather than a rushed 30 second spur of the moment creation. I know the niche I would like to start with but it is rather comprehensive.

title is something when someone click on your website, they will see it on the top of your home page. The domain name doesn't have to name exactly like the title.

It said in the lesson the two had to be the same.

Just make sure your domain and your title are related. They do not have to match perfectly, but your visitors shouldn't be confused when they arrive either.

Hello everyone forgive me I am a novice I have 3 days on the platform and I do not know if my query is stupid or not, but I ask for the help of members to advise me if the website I am building for the niche: Travel, photography and redaction is convenient the name of Virgilio the travel: Virgilio because it is my name and it is not very common here in Mexico, and traveler because this page is to start a travel blog accompanied by photographs. Any positive or negative comments will help me find a suitable name so that it is well placed in the travel niche. Thank you in advance for your help, I really need your experiences. I already built the web page with that name but I can still change it. Thank you.

Gracias.

The name is fine. The important part is your content. The travel and photography niche is extremely competitive, so you will need something unique in order to stand out. Think of it as a "niche within a niche".

For example, given your location, you might start by focusing primarily with travel and photography within Mexico (of even a single region within Mexico).

This will help you get your foot in the door by covering locations that most photography and travel sites likely miss. Then, as you get bigger and have more traffic, you can begin to branch out into other areas.

Make sense?

I think simply 'Virgilio' as the name for your travel site is great. It's easy to remember, kind of reminds me of the verb 'viajar' in Spanish, (makes sense!) and also it's a bit like 'Trivago' or something. I mean, what does that even mean? But yet we remember it, right? Same with TUI or Thompson Cook. So I say go for it.

I wasn't trying to make it to broad, what I had in mind when I said that,I had home owners in mind and you have young home owners, middle aged, not leaving out seniors who are also home owners, they all have something in common, that's maintenance, my niche would be something that all would probably invest to up keep their home, that's what my mind was thinking, does that clarify my comment? I hope it does,I appreciate your thoughts on it.
Reply
BarbaraN Premium
Hi, Manly7
Home maintenance is a great niche, but trying to reach all age groups may be a bit too broad. Young homeowners are looking to modernize and to expand for a growing family. Middle agers are seeking to maintain, because they have children ready for college, and maybe an older parent to take care of.

Seniors who decide to say in their homes have a lot of things to look at as far as maintaining their home. they may be looking to equip their home with safety measures. Up grading a bathroom with a walk-in tub, etc.

Or they may decide to downsize- which means selling the old home and finding something smaller. You might think about concentrating on one age group.
What ever you do, it's a great niche.
Reply
TheresaHorn Premium
You have a great niche with many possibilities. Perhaps you can start with basic information that every homeowner needs like how to maintain a hot water heater, information about gutter guards, etc.

You can even narrow it down to "hot water heaters" or become "The Gutter Guy".

Barbara has a great point about our needs changing over the years. You can eventually create dozens of niches based on her thoughts.

It's good that you are a Premium member; you may be able to create 50 websites!

Will that make a difference ?
Reply
davemc2019 Premium
No, it won't make a difference. Firstly let me tell you that as an Amazon Affiliate you are promoting the Amazon site, even if you are concentrating a certain product, so someone might click on a link for the product that you are reviewing, they might buy the product but while on the site they might search for something else and maybe even find it and buy that product as well so you will get commission on both sales

I understand that choosing a niche can be almost anything which makes it hard to decide on which to choose. How specific should a niche be? For example, my niche would be around art supplies for watercolor painting, should I be more specific like narrowing it down to watercolor brushes? and is it better to be specific or to be a bit broad?
Reply
PamC39 Premium
It depends on what you want and what you are comfortable with. For example if you know a lot about brushes and will always have content to post about brushes then the brush is a great niche. But some times peoples like to choose broad niches and so they never run out of content to write. You can also have a mini niche market on one very unique item and just have few posts for it too as well it depends on what you want. I have a narrowed down niche in health equipments about Stethoscopes, that is an example of narrowed down their niches.
I hope this helps

Regards

Pam

You're on the right track. Now, think about what you offer that any other bodybuilding website doesn't already bring to the table.

In other words, if you are just providing generic bodybuilding tips and recipes that I can get anywhere, you'll have a difficult time beating more established sites that have already built a large following.

Give me something unique so I have to come to your site to find what I need. Perhaps you could offer personalized workouts, unique recipes they can't find in any old cookbook, secret workout "hacks" that actually work, etc.

I don't understand the difference between website address and the email address. Hi - you need to apply to join affiliate programs. They all have different terms and conditions as regards payment, whether it be to your bank account, by PayPal or by check. You won't have to chase up payments, but some programs do have a minimum threshold you have to meet before payment is made. There is no WA portal unless you have chosen to recruit other WA members.

thats where you will need to read the terms of the affiliate agreement.
it is impossible for us to say how you will get paid.
like promoting wa- you get paid through paypal.
amazon have three different ways of paying you.
so before you sign up for an affiliate program you need to read the boring stuff, the terms and make notes, so there are no suprises.
good luck.

Hi Will not some niches be country specific, so that they apply more in one country than others. For example, if you are talking about garden fertilizers, which will vary from country to country. If I describe one fertilizer other people may not understand what I am going on about.

If in a bussiness model, to sell 1 product over another with my own experience. Can I get help with knowing the difference of being honest and something that could be considered slander?
i have a lot to work on before i use my idea, but as i'm think i have an extremely strong plan, i don't want to cross any legal lines
Thankyou
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
I'm not an attorney, so this is just an "in a nutshell" response...

The legal definition of slander is essentially the telling of a untruth that harms the reputation of another party. So, as long as you are simply sharing your experience with a product or service -- the good and the bad -- technically it would not be considered slanderous.

Of course, anyone can sue anyone else for practically anything these days. I think as long as you are truthful, and yet still polite, you should be okay.

In fact, I've seen many businesses often reach out to a "bad" review to try and make it right.

On the other hand, if you go into some hate-filled rant then all bets are off. Keep it professional.

Hey, student from the UK here in my final year looking to start making money online while I finish off my degree and hopefully for long after that as well, any quick tips for beginners such as myself and how long to spend doing this (e.g. how many hours a day) since I've still got a degree to try and get :)
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
Naturally you just do what you can do. I know how limited a student's time can be... I've got more degrees than a thermometer! lol

I would say that if you could spare, say, an hour a day you will do just fine. A good target for a beginner is one solid 1500-3000 word post per week. You can definitely hit that with an hour a day, even including any research you might need.

Whatever your niche, just make sure it is something you are passionate about. Ultimately you will be creating a ton of content, and the worst thing you can do is turn this into a "job"; especially one that you wind up hating.

Hope this helps. :-)

That's a great suggestion AJTrimble1. This newbie appreciates it as well. And, you're just showing off with the degree thing. ;) And I'm jealous! <3

Hahaha... well, don't be. If all those degrees did me any good these days I probably wouldn't be here talking to you now. lol.

Truth is we have reached a time where any kid with a laptop can put a Fortune 500 company out of business.

Don't get me wrong. I still think education is a worthwhile pursuit, and I am sending all three of my children through it.

But now it's all about the "applied" side; it's more about what you actually learn and the skills get out of it. The era I grew up in where it meant something merely because one has a piece of paper from a university is long over.

I don't understand the difference between a domain and a website. I've watched a video which explains a domain and it was a little beyond my understanding. Do you provide domains or websites. I think I understand that I will need to purchase domain names?
I need the 'newbie' explanation.
Your help is appreciated,

Robin, think of your domain as your address.
then think of your site as a book.
when people come to your domain(address), they are allowed to read your book.
if they arrive at the home page they read the intro.
or if they need specific info, the search engines may direct them straight to a chapter relevant to what they are looking for.
so after purchasin your domain, you write your book.
sounds scary, but if you break it down into chapters and small sections of each chapter then it becomes easy.
good luck

Your website is your home your domain is your address to that home. Newbie enough?

As for the second part of your question say you want to talk about being a newbie online.

You search for a domain name, for example, newbie.com and if it is available you purchase that domain.

From there you now have an address (your domain name) which is just a block of land at the moment.

Now you have to build on your new land (website) and as you add content you are now building your home.

The more you build the more you have in your home that will add value to it

Hope that helps

A domain name is a web address..think of your house address...it's a number and street name identifying your home's location. A domain name does the same for your website.

A website is the actual post, pages and so on at an address. Just like your house. It resides at an address but it isn't an address itself.

Take the domain analogy one step further... different me,hers can receive mail at your address (i.e. Bob, Mary, etc.). The same is true for your email at your domain (bob@yourdomain.com, etc.).

I hope this helps.

You want to build an online business around coffee.

You register the domain name ilovecoffee.com with a domain name registrar. You pay the registrar and you own the domain name.

You pay a website host for space on their computers where your business will be. Your website is your business and it will be called www.ilovecoffee.com. You have to build its pages, posts, structure and menu directly on host's computers.

You connect your domain name with your website so that when someone enters ilovecoffee.com into a search engine, your website appears.

Think of a domain as a parking lot where your vehicle (website) is parked for people to come by to look at it.
Reply
Thank you, Unicorn4. So, how do you choose your parking lot? I've never seen the option to choose a domain before. And then choose the kind of website and the website name? My understanding has been, choose a domain name and build a website. Your input is appreciated, Unicorn4.

You do ask the hard questions, don't you. I am new to tech, so it is easier for me to put it in trucking terms, and that is how I think of it. If you go somewhere like a truckstop, your vehicle to get there is like your website. Some people have ads on their cars, trucking companies have the names and logos on their trucks. The truckstop has the parkinglot which is like a domain. But then again, maybe I'm wrong.
I'm still learning.

Lol. Thank you, Unicorn4. I automatically assumed you were the techy expert. ;) I love your analogy. I'm not quite sure how to place everything in the training! Hahaha. I had also looked at the bluehost site about purchasing one of their plans and definitions don't seem to be the same. Yikes.

OK, so your website will be an art website.

Say your domain is robinsartsite.com.

The web site name can differ from the domain. Think of it as a title at the top of your site. Any people will make it match their domain name but you don't have to. You can use "Robin's Art Site" or you can use "Photos by Robin", etc. It's just the title or branding that's displayed, usually at the top of the site pages.

Thank you, feigner. You do not say in the first two lines that domain and domain name are the same. Everything seems to indicate they are not.
In the training, in lesson 1, it says to choose the kind of website, so that would possibly be an art website. Second, choose a domain and then 3rd choose a website name. ah...domain and domain name are the same but website name can be different.
here the domains are categorized internally - nothing to do with the web, just for internal accounting.
so yes your domain name can be different to your website name.
but your domain name is the one you buy and cannot be changed - without buying another one.
the website name, on the other hand can change when you want it to. this is the display name for your website.
Reply
Lol. I've got to admit, I'm overwhelmed. I watched a video from a tech guy on domains and there was so much more to them than probably what we need here. I think someone else from WA said that you can have two domain names.
I need to move past this because it's just stopping me. I likely should have said upfront that I can be very OCD about things and I could cling to this until I have it in a consecutive line. I'm just not sure how to get it there! Haha!
Again, thank you for your input, feigner.

that will be interesting when you get onto keywords - where it gets a bit grey - never black and white.
with the ' but my post has all of the right bits of seo but it still isn't ranked'
this is really something you will need to get a handle on - yes understand it but don't overdo it.
it will drive you mad - especially when you can't get hold of the algorithm which google uses to rank you.
and visitors - well they are just another beast entirely - my content is good and i'm telling thwm about it, but nobody is visiting!'
i can be a bit ocd, but know where to draw the line - sometimes paralyis by analysis sets in after the initial rush, but manage to get over most of it.
but no you cannot have two domain names for one domain - you can have a subdomain - similar to where you are now - look up at the top it says my.wea..... so wealthy... is the domain with my.wea.... being the subdomain ( domain linked to the master domain).
good luck coming to terms with it and hopefully you can move on.

You have a few niches there that would work .... In order to choose which one would you be able to write for the next 5 years this may narrow it down for you.

Always go for something that you are passionate about as this will help too.

Also do some research are there any other website about your niche if no then there probably isn't enough people wanting the information so will be difficult to get traffic and make money.

Trust this has helped :)

For a while I lived in my truck even though the truck belonged to my boss. I had microwave, coffee pot, lamps, tv, dvd player, toaster oven, and even a refridgerator. All I had to do was pull into somewhere and run an extension cord to the vent glass on the door, and plug in.

Are you referring to the links that take people to you pages? This is called the "top" or "primary" menu and can be automatically generated or not depending on the theme.

If you can't see them, you will have to create one manually. It's not a big deal...

In your dashboard go to Appearance > Menus

You will see two columns. In the left is all your "stuff" (posts, pages, categories, etc.)

Checkmark the items you want on your menu and click the "Add to Menu" button. You should see it all added to the column on the right.

Make sure to check the box underneath that column that says "primary menu"

Now go back to your homepage, refresh if necessary, and you should see your menu listed.

Hope this helps.

I don’t see “primary menu” as an option. Under Menu Settings I have “Auto add pages” and “Display location”. The Auto Add Pages says that it automatically adds new top-level pages to the menu, but when I tried it nothing changed on the main site. I tried the other one too with the same result.
Interestingly, my Privacy Policy isn’t listed as that either but has as its title the entire wording of the actual privacy policy. I don’t know how to change the title, or how it got like that.
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
The "Display Location" typically has 2-3 check boxes: Top Menu, Main Menu, and Footer Menu. This is entirely dependent on the theme you're using though, so you may not have all three. At a minimum you should have some version of a main or primary menu.

For what it's worth, I never use the "automatically add" option. I just leave that box unchecked.

Clothing/Fashion
Mens clothes

Cosmetics/Topical
Makeup
Lotions/Moisturisers

Gaming
Sharing video game clips/Community
Finding players to play with
Selling gaming equipment

I encourage feedback and tips or even things i might want to change I am always open to feedback. :)

Those are awesome ideas!

You'll need to break down some of those niche ideas, like the clothing/fashion and the men's clothes. You have to think who you want to target that have a problem they want to solve.

For example, you could do fashion for ladies who are curvaceous, or the opposite, best clothing for slim ladies who want to look more curvaceous. You could target occasions; like wedding fashion.

For men's clothes, you may want to target WHAT type of clothing; is it business attire? Is it casual? Is it for a wedding? Is it for bigger or well-built men? Is it for shorter or taller men?

Think about what PROBLEMS people might be facing that they would want to come to the Internet for more information on.

I think the gaming niche is one of the niches that you have well-broken down and the best niches are the ones where it will be easy for you to write reviews on. Just a suggestion because reviews are more easily ranked for than regular articles.

I hope I have helped and if you have any more questions, be sure to ask.. :) I wish you the best.

This is definitely a niche and a great one too! My sites name is Go Green With Hemp, can't give the URL, but....
Anyhow, I promote all hemp items, pretty much anything to do with using hemp in our daily lives. Which is pretty broad, but also limited if you get what I mean, all my products are related to hemp, but that is usually the only thing that links them lol. I have reviews for shampoo and conditioner, and CBD products, and clothes. I plan to promote more paper products and building materials as well. I sort these all out with the use of categories that are set in the menu as page categories.

If I am understanding you correctly, someone visits your site, clicks on your affiliate link to some product, goes there but doesn't buy that product and instead buys something else. Do you get money for referring them? Yes, you brought them there so you should get credit. Some places (Amazon) will give you a 7 day window, while others will give you up to lifetime of customer. Though, you need to be the last referrer usually.

You may want to check it out, for example on Amazon Associates:

Associates Program - Fee Statement(Partial extracts):

1. Qualifying Purchases and Qualifying Revenue

We will pay Standard Program Fees described in Section 3 of this Fee Statement in connection with “Qualifying Purchases”, which (subject to the exclusions described in this Fee Statement) occur when:

(a) a customer clicks through a Special Link on your Site to an Amazon Site; and

(b) during a single session, which is measured as beginning when a customer clicks through that Special Link and ending upon the first to occur of the following: (x) 24 hours elapse from that click, (y) the customer places an order for a Product, other than a digital item sold under the name “Amazon Music,” “Amazon Shorts”, “eDocs”, “Amazon Prime Video”, “Amazon Software Downloads”, “Game Downloads”, “Kindle Books”, “Kindle Newspapers”, “Kindle Blogs”, “Kindle Newsfeeds”, or “Kindle Magazines” (a “Digital Product”), or (z) the customer clicks through a Special Link to an Amazon Site that is not your Special Link (a “Session”), any of the following happens:

i. the customer purchases a Product via our 1-Click feature, or

ii. the customer purchases a Product by adding a Product to his or her shopping cart and completing the order for that Product no later than 89 days after their initial click-through of the Special Link, or

iii. with respect to Digital Products, the customer purchases such a Product by streaming or downloading it from an Amazon Site; and

(c) the Product is shipped to, streamed or downloaded by, and paid for by the customer.

For each Qualifying Purchase, the corresponding “Qualifying Revenue” is equal to the amount we actually receive from that Qualifying Purchase, less any shipping charges, gift-wrapping fees, handling fees, taxes (e.g. sales tax and VAT), service charges, rebates, credit card processing fees, and bad debt.

Welcome to WA!

Once you become Premium you cannot go back to being a free member, but you will still own all of the websites you have created and you will have 30 days to move them from the WA hosting to another hosting site of your choosing.

That being said, do not upgrade to Premium until you are ready. You can stay a free member for as long as you like. You will only be able to have access to the first 10 lessons and your two free websites.

Your first month discount will still apply no matter when you decide to upgrade to Premium.
Reply
merlynmac Premium
You can star a free Starter member indefinitely if you wish. Once you upgrade to Premium, there's no downgrade option. If you cancel your Premium account, you'll lose access to your WA account on your expiration date. You're Site will remain active for 30 days past that and you can login directly to it to manage it. After the 30 days pass, your site will be deleted.

You can either remain Premium or move your site to a new host.

I created the first page which was the privacy policy, but I don’t see it on the website as it was on the example that Kyle did.
Also, the font on the third heading of my ABOUT ME post does not match the other two and I have tried all the different font settings there. How can I fix this?
Reply
Labman Premium
You need to add the Privacy Policy to your menu.

Highlight Each heading and see which heading code is highlighted. Then match the heading type with the About me heading you are having issues with.

You can also go into the code and see what is being applied to the heading in question but this is probably beyond your capability at this point.

Hey, Villanueva, you can make money bringing others to WA towards to your website, however, how you will convince your friends or others to have to come premium if you don,t have the experience. Also, is only $19,00 US dollars the first month and then goes $49,00 the other months. The premium, allowed to have unlimited access to much more tools that you will need. Worth some sacrifice. Hope this helps you.

Cheers to your success,

QUESTION #1: How much money would you be happy earning?
I will be happy to earn $200 per month.

QUESTION #2: How much would you be ecstatic earning?
Honestly I can't tell but I am guessing between $300 - $600 per month.
QUESTION #3: And how much TIME are you willing to invest to achieve these goals?
I am willing to sacrifice 4-6 hours after hours a day because i work for 8 hours a day to reach my goals.
Reply
RHoffmann1 Premium
These are achievable goals. What is important is setting milestone goals related to that effort of 4-6 hours. For instance setting a goal of post 1 - 2 article of substance per week. Achieving these milestones is almost as important as setting them as they will keep you focused, motivated and committed.

Hi Kyle,

I have a question about the menu tabs at the top navigation position. You had mentioned in your training that some templates do and some do not have the Home menu tab. Mine did not, though I was able to add it by following your instructions. My question is that the one I created does not perform (no side menu, text presented in a narrower format) the same as the other tabs in the top or main menu navigation,. Can you possibly please enlighten me as to why this may be the case. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Some themes have a home menu item by default, it just depends on the theme. You are in full control of these menus though.

You can add these custom menus to organize your top menu in any way in which you like, as well as create sub-menus (for themes that will support this). You can also use these custom menus to add within your side widgets on your website (within your sidebar).

Here is a tutorial on how to create custom menus: I use custom menus on all of my websites (over-ride that default menu). It allows much more control and organization....both good things!

Thank you for your help. Your link was to the training I had already watched, so I paid more attention this time. While my specific question was not addressed, it may be specific to the theme I have chosen. I will just have faith that my question will be answered in one way or another in the training, or by applying the training and trying different features (play to learn).

I do have a comment in that I find some confusion with the menu naming and placement nomenclature (in my understanding not the training) and I am sure time, application, and playing will solve that confusion of the different references of “menu”.

Thank you again and I hope yours and Everyone’s day is Wonderful!!

I am connected with Jeunesse Global. They make and sell skincare products that contain adult stem cells. They have a new stemcell product that grows hair on men who have been bald for 40 years! We develop personal relations with our customers. The residuals and compensation plan are remarkable. Could this be a niche? I realize there is probably a skin care niche. I do not know if the way we need to enroll people as customers or as people doing what I am doing (making a business with it) would be a problem.

Thank you for any insight.

The key when building a business online (or offline) is building a focused audience and brand through helping people within a certain niche. It is very difficult to make a product/service your niche and that is the reason people that are within MLM don't actually have a business, they are reliant on the MLM itself versus their own brand/foundation.

You are going to learn how to properly build a business online here at WA in any niche. Within that respective niche, you are going to be able to promote many different products (Jeunesse included). This will position you for much longer term success and a great deal of long term sustainability with your business.

If you can help people, you can create a long term business doing so.

Hi Michael,

I has account with Jeunesse Global too. Antiaging and skincare industry and niches are great to be in.

But about 1.5 years ago, Jeunesse got much stricter in its compliance policies for distributor websites and ads.

All websites and ads must be submitted and be approved by the Compliance and Legal department of Jeunesse Global before they can be shown to the public, if not the accounts may get suspended.

You can email to their compliance department for further details.

Hope this helps.

Your ideas seem good being that they all have a community that already exists around them. You might consider doing all of them in the future, but for now, pick one that is most relevant to your life and be all about it. Go through the training and get everything all setup and give your readers lots of valuable content and they will then easily follow your links or at least look at the products you present. Once you have one niche going and understand how to run the business day-to-day, then build your next one. Rinse and repeat.

Hi Kerry - that's not a good idea really. Remember you will be expected to write dozens of articles on your niche, and if you are already struggling with the idea of having to write the "about me" on your page, then you will see working on your website as a chore.

Are you sure there is nothing you have an interest in? If your friends were to describe you, what would they say you talk about? Has anybody ever asked for your advice on anything? Popular choices to think about include animals, beauty, diet, gadgets, games etc
Reply
Kerry do not write about or pick a niche you do not know or do not care about. People will see right through that there is no passion. What have you learned or gained through your struggles. What about making some, so to speak, coaching videos.
Actually this isn't a bad idea for me to work on also. Shoot lets do it alone side each other. I have a niche but I can have a couple, what the heck.

I am very confused about something. I am redoing the training because I didn't do it properly the first time. I want the About Me page to appear in my main menu. But if it is a post - will I be able to add it to my main menu? I was under the impression it won't show up in the menu unless it is designated as an actual page. I get the part about engagement, but it is also important that visitors be able to find the about me page from the home page. I hope my question makes sense.

Yes, Wendy, I understand you well, and like you my About Me Page is a page, for the very reason you bring. For me it makes sense. No need to have comments on that one page.

You can add posts to your main menu; I believe the video shows you how. You can also allow comments on pages, so I honestly do not think that it matters whether you do your 'about me' as a post or page. I say do what makes you the most comfortable. It's your site!

This very particular issue was discussed in Course 1, lesson 8 about creating custom menus.... Of course you can bring the about me section to be on the navigation menu... go back to this lesson and it's all explained in details.

I was very confused too, once upon a time, regarding posts, pages and menus. I often went over the lessons again and again. No shame in that. Yes, you have to create a menu first, and if you have any pages in your dashboard, you will be able to place your pages in the Menu, and re order them too.

I was so excited when I finally understood how to create Menus, I have two now. I have a Main menu and a Footer Menu. I soon had so many pages in my Main Menu, that I chose to make a Footer Menu at the bottom of my website for my Privacy Policy and Disclaimer pages to make room.

Kyle teaches how to create a Menu, but there are many other tutorials made by other members on that subject too. Check them all out, and eventually everything will click together and make sense.

Thank you so much for responding. I did follow the training on menus once before and I do understand how to create menu structure.

What confused me with the updated training video on the second round of me reviewing the training was the new instructions on turning the About Me page into a post. To my understanding, if something is designated as a post - it cannot be assigned to a menu. Is that correct?

Hi Wendy,

How are you doing?

You can add a Post to the menu no problem:-

From the Wordpress Dashboard go to:
1) Navigate to 'Appearance - Menus'
2) Expand the 'Posts' section, tick the box next to the Post you want added to the menu, then click 'Add to Menu'.
3) Save the menu

The Post will then be shown. Please see example screen print showing this.

Hope this helps,

I'm kinda stuck here.

I hold a PhD degree in women health and infertility. And I have successfully sold in the past anti-aging products "Offline" but failed to duplicate that success online and lost lots of money.

So, it made sense to me to try again now that I am learning the process all over the right way. I understand that this niche falls under health and beauty which is very competitive industry. Any suggestion as how to narrow it down? Alter it?!

I also thought about teaching the technical aspect of podcasting and/or voice over since I have been doing both for over 13 years now. I can also recommend products (mics, mixers..etc) for commissions. But I have also noticed that neither have a big market to make it a long-term.

Finally, Keto Dieting since I have been on it for few months now and the results are just amazing. Lost more than 14Kg so I think I can contribute in this market. But is keto diet very generic?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

No. As a WA member you have access to Jaaxy Lite. Kyle is using the Enterprise version in the video. It's a paid subscription, but it does everything for you like you see him do.

Ours requires a bit more DIY. Just find the keyword you are interested in and look in the QSR column. You should see a link that says "Get QSR". Click that and give it a few seconds. It will pull up the competition for that one keyword only.

Repeat the process for every keyword on your list.

Hi! Welcome to the community. You can certainly skip tasks and move on. Before I upgraded, I went through each one of the first 10 lessons, reading the text and not doing anything else. It helped me with my decision to try the premium membership. After the upgrade, I went back, watched the videos and completed every task in order.

Sometimes, you'll also need to skip a task you can't complete yet, and that's ok, you can come back to it later. I do recommend trying your hardest to follow it in order though, as it's all laid out in a certain way for a reason :)

Hope this helps!

Hi everyone, I'm totally knew to all of this! I am trying to decide on my niche and was wondering if having a niche that is available 'worldwide' is better than local? Obviously, you have a much larger audience, but I was wondering if anyone had decided on a local niche (not too small- I live in Sydney) and how they were going with that? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance.

My suggestion is that unless you are marketing a product or service that is only specific to a local market, definitely go as big as you can.

For example, if you were providing house cleaning, it would make sense to market locally because it would be cost prohibitive to travel too far; your expenses would quickly outstrip your profits.

On the other hand, if you were providing, say, a course on house cleaning (I know, dumb, but just making a point) which the reader can use pretty much anywhere, then sell that thing to anyone who willing to buy it ;-)

I just have a question guys.

I am planning on making my website as popular as possible but as i am doing my lessons now, I took the free domain with siterubix, my question is if this would affect my ability to get traffic and make money on my site.
Would I be better of using a bought .com domain? I would think having your own domain that you bought will be better?

In the long run, a domain site is better. You can start with the free siterubix domain and later transfer it to your own domain :)

Hi Michael - yes, you are correct. It is possible to make money with a siterubix website, but it is more challenging. If you have a .com domain, you are seen as more of an authority and taking your business more seriously. Don't forget you need to be a premium member to buy and host your domain here at WA. Good luck, Diane

Having your own .com website is better, in my opinion. You can still setup and use your .siterubix.com website and then later, if you go premium, you can simply move your .siterubix.com site to your purchased .com. It's very easy to move it.

Hello gals and guys. I have few questions. I would really appreciate any helpful answer.

1. Who is the owner of bought domain via WA?
2. Can i edit my webpage (not siterubix, com) in different ways than using siterubix or WA? In other words.. what will happen to my page when i decide one day to leave WA community?
3. I wanted to pick one specific domain name but its now available. Is it worth to buy that .com page or is it better to pick .net (for example). I thing websites with .com looks more professional than .net .org ...

P.S. I hope #2 doesnt sound like i want to run away from WA today. Im only 2 days here but im really excited about this. This second question just means if i have full access and control above my website.

Thanks for answers and wish you all nice day.

Hi Erik - if you buy your domain through WA, it is just the same as any hosting site - it is yours to do with as you wish. Editing is done through WordPress. (Remember you need to be a premium member to buy and host here). Should you wish to leave, you are given 30 days to move your website to another host. You are right in thinking that a .com domain has the most authority. All the best, Diane

After tentatively deciding on a niche I went to GoDaddy and looked for available domain names. I found two domain name variations available that fit my niche "OptionsInsights com" and "OptionInsights com" and I registered them. Now I am motivated to start building my niche website because I have a cool domain address to start from.

That's great! Will you go premium and host them here or go it alone at GoDaddy? I also have domain names registered at GoDaddy because like you I recently purchased them and GoDaddy won't let me move them. I did find, however, that I can still host my site here, so that was comforting. Follow me and when you go premium, I can help you get this setup.

I finally have time to really delve into this but now realising I have less an 21 hours left to ask questions. Anyone else in a similar situation? Did you upgrade to premium or decide to stick with a free account? How has either decision worked out for you? Thank you in advance!

Pretty much the same as the others. Went Premium within the first couple of days or so... haven't looked back since. Totally worth it in my book :-)

You should think about doing a WA blog post that talks about your experiences, Susan; particularly the point you make here.

I see a lot of new people coming in thinking that WA is some kind of "magic bullet" and they'll be rolling in the cash by the end of their first week.

I don't think many of them realize that it may take months of hard work before they make their first commission, and I'm afraid they'll get frustrated and quit before they ever get there.

This business IS amazing if we just have a little patience.

Hi to be totally transparent, I actually upgraded months after I created my free account. I hated WA for a while because all their affiliates were telling me the truth about making money online, while the MLM company I had joined told me its easy and could be done within months.

I wanted to believe them but as time went on, the truth started to dawn on me, it's more than possible to make money online but there are no shortcuts.

I have been here just over two year but it is only the last year or so that I have consistently.taken action on the training here and it works, it takes time to see results but it does work.

Take your time, go through the lessons and then make a decision. If you have any question after your free period is up, just give me a message through my website ( paytoplayscam.com) and I'll try to help as best I can.

I have had a ni9che in the past of woodworking Plans. For a price you get access to thousands of plane. Is this too broad? I have also had a related niche insheds. The same as the above. Are these too broad. Will have to get it down to "a shed"? I'd like your view on the subject. I like woodworking. any related ideas?

I think woodworking is an okay niche, though there are probably lots of different subgroups that are available. I would probably have a site title that allowed for expansion of other plans, but then focus in the beginning on one type of plan. For instance, write all about dressers for 10 lengthy posts or more and then branch out to kitchen tables, desks, bookshelves, etc.

Finally, I've set up a website. By "As a Premium member, you can build and host up to 25 free websites and the ability to create 25 sites on your own domains (total 50 websites) ", does it mean I can eventually set up as many as 50 websites for different niches, or what? I'm not so sure of this. Thank you, folks!

Hi - yes, you can. The free websites you can use as you wish. If you want to use the 25 others, you will, of course, have to buy a domain for each one, but the hosting of them is included in your premium membership.
