NICHES. The scariest word for most people when starting out. However, the idea of a niche should not scare you. Instead it should be exciting.

What is a Niche?

A niche is a distinct segment of a market, in other words an "audience".

When choosing a niche that fits you, you should be choosing something that is ideally an interest, a passion, a hobby, but it could be something that you would like to learn about. You don't need to BE an expert, you BECOME an expert.

I personally enjoy many different things. I enjoy basketball, I used to collect baseball cards, I like to go skiing, I am really interested in men's fashion, exercise, internet marketing, and I love everything about the online business world.

There are also many niches over the years that I have been very successful within without knowing anything about them before getting into them. Dieting, voice over IP, hosting...are just a few.

Almost anything you can think of is a niche and that is why we are going to get you to choose YOUR niche based on things that you are interested in. You can earn money online from absolutely every single niche because there are billions of people out there searching for information, for solutions, and spending billions of dollars or products/services every day.

The idea of a niche can be a little confusing at first, so I have created a video walk-through for this lesson "Choosing Your Direction - It Starts With a Niche" that is going to walk you through what a niche is, how you earn money through a niche, and I will get you choosing your initial direction online.

Check out the video below.

Your online business should not feel like a day job. Earning money online should be fun, and it is fun. This all starts with choosing a niche that you are interested in and will enjoy working with.

The MORE you enjoy doing something the LESS it feels like a job and the more productive you are going to be. Carson and I are immensely passionate about online business and teaching people how to make money online, so that is the niche we have chosen with Wealthy Affiliate.

Your niche could be anything, but at the core of your niche selection it should be something that you "like". Something you enjoy. Something you can talk about. Something you want to learn about.

Task 1: Choose Your Direction

We want you to select the niche that interests you most and gets you the most excited.

A few things that you should understand about niches are:

(1) You are going to be writing content within your niche
(2) You are going to be communicating within your niche
(3) You are going to be choosing products to promote within your niche
(4) You are going to get to help people within your niche.
(5) Your first niche PROBABLY won't be your last (so don't worry about it being perfect)
(6) Any SINGLE niche website can become a "full time" income/business

There is NO SUCH THING as choosing the wrong niche.

Also, note that you can always change your niche down the road. Just because you are choosing a niche now does not mean you will be in this particular niche forever. Either way, please do not spend a week choosing your niche. Within the next 15-30 minutes (maximum) you should have your "starting point" niche chosen.

If you have any questions about your niche, feel free to leave a question below and we will help you out.

If you are REALLY STUCK at this point and you cannot decide on a niche, perhaps you may be interested in the make money/affiliate marketing niche. If you don't have a niche at this point, this will be your niche and we have an Affiliate Bootcamp dedicated to those that are interested in promoting Wealthy Affiliate.

Hi - the payment is $49 per month, taken automatically. It is cheaper to pay upfront for 6 or 12 months but there are no refunds. You are given 25 Siterubix sub-domains, and can host a further 25 purchased domains.

If you take the first discount of $19 the monthly membership is $49 US per month recurring.

Which is taken out automatically from your chosen account you have selected.

As for No of websites premium members can have up 25 free siterubix websites plus can host up to 25 owned domain here in WA which is included in part of your membership.

This gives you a total of 50 websites a premium member can host here. Hope that answers your question.

But rather than focusing on having many websites best to go through the training as given and focus on having a solid foundation to one website and work on that.

Wishing you well

You are moving along great and you get better at typing or writing one way, by doing it.

Have you ever considered dictation? It might triple or quadruple your writing, this is something that I have used for years when I don't feel like typing and it can lead to 130-150 wpm.

So just invested a few hours mess'n around within Jaaxy. What a hot rod!
Here is one of the lowest QSR's I've found:
AVG 80 Traffic 14 QSR 8 with an SEO of 99
Think maybe I should go with it? Seems like a guranteed front page listing on Google. Only problem is that it is not gramatically correct, except for the "at". Could work though?
Yea, I ran Jaaxy with the "at" included & it dropped to
Avg 371 Traffic 64 QSR 111 with an SEO of 92
.
Yet close to 300 more faces looking around. And better traffic too, if it ranks Google's front page.
.
So any ideas?
No, I do not want to reveal what the keyword phrase is.
Anybody ever published a keyword phrase that was not 100% gramatically correct?
.
Write articles both ways? Thought about it.
Gotta make a decission, though.
Any help &/or ideas greatly appreciated.

If I was writing the article, I would choose the keyword that has the most searches to be my headline. If there is a way to incorporate the not so searched keyword into the article and it not sound like your spamming your article with SEO keywords, then I'd say go for it. The more you search and dig deep on those keywords, you'll probably find a lot that rank like your first one with low QSR and high SEO, especially if your niche isn't one that is widely focused on. Go with your gut!

Ok, so as a live-in volunteer at a dog rescue I've decided that my niche should be the volunteer lifestyle, but I'm struggling to find the right name for my site.

I don't know whether to choose 'Volunteer Lifestyle', 'Volunteer Living', or something else.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Guess it's best to choose something that people might use as a search term if possible?

Hi Emma

I think your idea is awesome! Love it! Volunteer Lifestyle appeals to me. Have a look at what Jaaxy says

Looking forward to watching your success!

I need more Information. For instance; if you are trying to get others to be a Volunteer? You might try: www.BeaVolunteer.com But, if you want to talk about being a Volunteer: you might try: www.TheVolunteerLife.com or www.HelpingOthers.com

As I said; I need more Information; please Inform?

As I said in my question, my niche will be the volunteer lifestyle. For example, what it's like to be a volunteer, things to consider, how to find a place that requires voluteers, types of volunteering you can do, what you need, how to survive as a volunteer, and anything else you can think of that relates to life as a volunteer.
