NICHES. The scariest word for most people when starting out. However, the idea of a niche should not scare you. Instead it should be exciting.

What is a Niche?

A niche is a distinct segment of a market, in other words an "audience".

When choosing a niche that fits you, you should be choosing something that is ideally an interest, a passion, a hobby, but it could be something that you would like to learn about. You don't need to BE an expert, you BECOME an expert.

I personally enjoy many different things. I enjoy basketball, I used to collect baseball cards, I like to go skiing, I am really interested in men's fashion, exercise, internet marketing, and I love everything about the online business world.

There are also many niches over the years that I have been very successful within without knowing anything about them before getting into them. Dieting, voice over IP, hosting...are just a few.

Almost anything you can think of is a niche and that is why we are going to get you to choose YOUR niche based on things that you are interested in. You can earn money online from absolutely every single niche because there are billions of people out there searching for information, for solutions, and spending billions of dollars or products/services every day.

The idea of a niche can be a little confusing at first, so I have created a video walk-through for this lesson "Choosing Your Direction - It Starts With a Niche" that is going to walk you through what a niche is, how you earn money through a niche, and I will get you choosing your initial direction online.

Check out the video below.

Your online business should not feel like a day job. Earning money online should be fun, and it is fun. This all starts with choosing a niche that you are interested in and will enjoy working with.

The MORE you enjoy doing something the LESS it feels like a job and the more productive you are going to be. Carson and I are immensely passionate about online business and teaching people how to make money online, so that is the niche we have chosen with Wealthy Affiliate.

Your niche could be anything, but at the core of your niche selection it should be something that you "like". Something you enjoy. Something you can talk about. Something you want to learn about.

Task 1: Choose Your Direction

We want you to select the niche that interests you most and gets you the most excited.

A few things that you should understand about niches are:

(1) You are going to be writing content within your niche
(2) You are going to be communicating within your niche
(3) You are going to be choosing products to promote within your niche
(4) You are going to get to help people within your niche.
(5) Your first niche PROBABLY won't be your last (so don't worry about it being perfect)
(6) Any SINGLE niche website can become a "full time" income/business

There is NO SUCH THING as choosing the wrong niche.

Also, note that you can always change your niche down the road. Just because you are choosing a niche now does not mean you will be in this particular niche forever. Either way, please do not spend a week choosing your niche. Within the next 15-30 minutes (maximum) you should have your "starting point" niche chosen.

If you have any questions about your niche, feel free to leave a question below and we will help you out.

If you are REALLY STUCK at this point and you cannot decide on a niche, perhaps you may be interested in the make money/affiliate marketing niche. If you don't have a niche at this point, this will be your niche and we have an Affiliate Bootcamp dedicated to those that are interested in promoting Wealthy Affiliate.

==> Go here if that is you.

If you have any qustions about your "niche" or direction of your business and you wan to get feedback from the community, leave them below and we will be happy to help.

Onto the next lesson, building a website! Exciting stuff is ahead! :)

Hey. I am feeling to my niche. It will probably be around H Pylori treatment. This something I am healing within myself and I know that there are thousands and thousands of people with this to eliminate. I know a lot of products to help with smoothing symptoms and all sorts of forms of healing! I am passionate about the natural healing and more! I am ready to spread love and light to all people having this. And also promote great products. Is it a good niche?

For my niche I would like to promote WA.
What commissions are available promoting WA?
Are the commissions recurring?
Do you recommend using a website or sales funnels when promoting WA.
I have found that sales funnels work quite well.
I have found that websites tend to confuse people opposed to a good sales funnel.
I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel here, LOL, i'm just kicking ideas around based on my experience.
I probably should go through the bootcamp first...
I already have a ClickFunnels account would it be a good idea to keep it?

In Lesson 5, Task 2, it says the plugins will include All-in-one SEO, Classic Editor, and Kraken Image Optimization. Mine has the All-in-one SEO, "EWWW Image Optimizer", and no editor. I'm assuming the EWWW is a new substitute for Kraken, and the Classic editor is no longer needed/available - but can't rule out the possibility that I screwed it up lol. Do I have what is currently supposed to be there? Theme is Blossoms if that makes any difference. Thanks!
Reply
JKulk1 Premium
You should have Kraken ,SEzo and either Gutenberg or classic editor. Gutenberg is the new content editor but most people prefer classic. If you don't have them go to the plugin tab, click new plugin, then you should have a search box come up at the top right. Add the plugins you want and click on activate. When you have done all of them they should show up on your plugin tab
They should read deactivate, don't push this unless you don't want to use them. Jim

Thanks JKulk1! I found and added Classic editor. Couldn't find anything for SEzo, might that be a typo?

Also when I searched for Kraken, Smush Image Optimization came up too, and it has way more installations and a higher reviewer rating than Kraken or EWWW - I know nothing about any of them, so am wondering why the preference for Kraken and if you (or anybody) are aware of a downside to Smush? Thank you!

So, I have a couple of passions...

First is writing. (I have 10 books out so far, with about 30 in various stages of production.) When I started self-publishing though (circa 2014), there was *nothing* out there about the "hows" of doing -- IE: what platforms are best, how do you upload, what are meta-tags and etc. I *learned* mind you, because I had too, but still, there wasn't a lot of help. Now there are a lot of "self-help for self-publishing" books and what not out there, so I know that's not really a great niche to start with.

The second is coloring. As in, relaxing with some colored pencils and a pre-printed design. Now, I know I could make a Niche out of "Colored Pencils and Various techniques to use" and the content would be links to the products used in various YouTube videos etc.

And the third passion of mine is Diamond Painting. It's similar to old-fashioned cross stitching, but it uses small stones (fake of course -- like beads) and a sticky glue and you subsequently glue the stone onto a canvas. It's "new" if you will and has kind of taken the place of "adult coloring" as the next hot thing. A lot of products out there, including accessories and what not, and I can see a similar idea of using product links to the items (on Amazon mostly) along with videos of how to use.

So, my question becomes, which of these would be a good place to start???
Reply
RDulloo Premium
You can start with any of these... :) Choose one that you won't have a problem coming up with content with and that you won't be bored with down the road.

FYI: I also LOVE diamond painting... I got one that looks like my cat and will soon be finishing it.

It sounds like a great foundation for your online business! It is much easier and satisfying to write about niches you are passionate and/or know about. On the other hand, you don't need to be an expert on it, you will learn lots of it when writing content, getting friends and partners among your niche and so on. By the way, I like to sing Christian songs but I cant practically play any instruments. I am an active member of the local church, it fills my heart somehow every time to hang with those great mates. God bless you! -just another sinner guy

Hello hope everyone is well

One question i have and it probably has been answered but i do not understand how we would go about writing content for certain products. For example how would we write content for strollers or baby car seats. Would it be based on the features or benefits of having such items? i can understand that but then wouldn't the site be rather "thin" once all the obvious topics were written about?

I am probably missing something here i understand that. Maybe someone may be able to point me in the right direction. This is the problem that i am facing in regards to choosing a niche as the article states that we would be writing content and this seems to be a stopping issue because i can choose the niches but looking into the future regarding the content, i am finding myself eliminating niches one after the other based on this criteria.

Again i am sure this has been asked and answered and my apologies.

Thank you

You are not supposed to know everything or something about something (but it is an advantage), but you can always research (through Google) since other people have written about that before you do. This does not matter and is not a disadvantage, on the contrary, you have the advantage of having more information for your research.
Also, what people want to hear is what are the benefits of any product. You should mention features of course but always benefits over features.
I want to share with you two great posts from Kyle that will answer most of your questions: Tom

That's understood for me. As a member or participant of Wealthy Affiliate, will you provide us the specific products or shall we be the ones to research them ?

Once you decide on what your niche will be, you will research what products/services you wish to promote. How to find various affiliate programs and networks will be discussed in the training however, you will decide which ones you want to apply to based on what your niche is.

I hope that clears it up for you some!

Hello Everyone!

I've just come across this website and decided to give it a shot but before I decide to really get in deep with it, I have some questions. Does this really allow you to eventually quit your job and work from home? How well does it work for stay at home parents or people with hectic schedules? How soon were you reaching your goals? (I realize the answer for this is different for everyone.) I'm sorry to not have questions about the courses just yet but I can't help being skeptical and suspicious of a program like this.

Hi there,
The answer to your first question is yes, it can allow you to quit your job and work from home.
It won’t happen overnight or even over the first couple of months. You have to put in the work in order to make a success of your online business!!
But, if you focus, follow the training that is provided with the premium membership then you have every chance of succeeding.

I have a very hectic life but if you can manage your time properly then you will be able to achieve everything you need to. I have 3 kids, a dog, a cat and a full time job so really have to move things around so I can work on this.

I have been here for just over 2 months and haven’t made any sales yet. However, I am getting traffic to my website and people are clicking on my links. I have written lots of content and some of it has been indexed in Google which is awesome!

It took me 2 days to decide to go premium and I am feeling so good about this place and I know I will achieve my goals! I would definitely recommend going premium as you get so much more for your money!

All the best
Tony

"Does this really allow you to eventually quit your job and work from home?" Yes. Many of us have done it. Just use the search bar above to look for Success Stories.

"How well does it work for stay at home parents or people with hectic schedules?" It works extremely well because you can work through the lessons and build your business on your schedule... you're the boss now :-)

"How soon were you reaching your goals?" As you suggested, it totally varies. Just remember, you are learning to build a business just like any other, except you won't have all the overhead as you might with a traditional brick and mortar business on your local street corner. A good rule of thumb would be 12-24 months. Some people do it much faster, and some much slower. As long as you go into it knowing it's not get-rich-quick you will do fine.

Hope this helps.

I have two ideas for my niche but I think they may be too broad. I was thinking for my first idea doing beauty and going in either a makeup or fashion direction, not sure if i could do both under the one niche.

The other idea I have is for dog accessories/fashion. I have a dog and enjoy giving her a bit of a fashionable look with a bandana or scarf. I end up searching for dog accessories online all the time, so i figured it would be perfect.

jltracey1188 I think your on to something. one you have a art product or 2 have some youtube reviewers review them, They will have a full on video production crew when making your review ok. After the reviews are made you just got yourself a commercial made with the hardest part done for you. grab a few clips from each review and put together for your own site commercial. I think that would help spread your word as I think its one worth spreading

My money goals are pretty steep for me. I would like to make 10,000$ a month or more. But isn't that the same income revenue as a small restaurant? Or a small paving company?
Alot of small business owners make income solely off of they're skill, like my boss for instance.
Do you guys think that finding and picking the right niche is one of the more important skills pertaining to this industry?
Or is it equally as important to know how to make the right type of website?
Reply
DCW2000S Premium
Picking the right niche will dictate what your website content is about. As for the type of website I'm not quite sure what your referring to?

You can build a blog to write articles about the niche you are in like most people do here.

Or you could build an ecommerce type of website where you just have categories and products like Amazon or ebay?

Good luck,
David

P.S. If you want to make $10 grand a month I would suggest a niche with high ticket items. Otherwise you will have to make hundreds of sales to get there? If you make $500 to $2500 off of a sale you only need a few sales to make your $10 grand.

Believe me, there are many people doing that every month online. Hell, if you really learn SEO you can take on customers and keep there websites optimized and on Page #1 of Google so that they get that free search traffic and they will pay thousands a month for just that.

I know several guys who travel around the world working from wherever they are and loving life! I get email from them all the time. I'm envious as hell :-)

Good luck buddy!

Well that's commendable if that's what you want to do, but why are you doing it? Are you simply trying to get the word out?
It just seems like your spending a lot of money just to get the word out? There are free site builders out there, and forums that you can post articles on.

It's just that if your trying to start a business like most people who come here then you have not picked a very good niche have you?

How can you make money from this? Are there products or services you can sell or am I missing the point completely?
It's just that it sounds like you just want to help people, and if that's true I just hate to see you having to pay to do that?

Other then that, my hats off to you! I think your awesome for doing it. Truly!

Good luck, and I am going to follow you. Let me know If I can be of any help?

I'm a little stuck on which direction to go. When it comes to a niche, I have two passions; art and helping others overcome addiction. I have been an artist since I could pick up a pencil so when it comes to experience and knowledge that would be an easier route. BUT before joining WA, I wanted to find a way to make an income online by helping others in their addiction struggles without AA/NA.
Only an addict/alcoholic or someone who is close to one would understand this idea, but when it comes to addiction, 9 out of 10 treatment centers tell you that the only way to stay sober is in AA or as its called "the program." I disagree, especially because only 3% of addicts are successful in "the program." So I feel that there is a huge opportunity for other programs. Being someone that has struggled with this for years, it's really disheartening to find out that you are part of the 97% that just can't get in to the AA mindset.
Selling art supplies would be much easier to pursue, it's already cut and clear.
Going the other route would include much more than affiliate marketing because I would be selling a service that I would potentially create content for. I know there are other books and such on this topic, but as for affiliate programs to sell the books/programs I am unsure of. I'm going to do my research but if there is anyone familiar with this that could give me some insight that would be great.

You have definitely put some thought into this. Well done. And I am going to propose an outside-the-box idea for your consideration... combine them.

Seriously. One of the hardest things to do when coming up with any niche is developing something unique. Often coming out with just another generic "me, too" site doesn't work too well because there are already more established sites like that.

Instead, you want to try and come up with something that makes you unique and stand out from the crowd. So why not combine your experience and passions: help coach addicts to overcome their issues THROUGH art?

Something to think about :-)
Reply
SirTristan Premium
I think that AJ's idea is super cool.

But if you decide to keep them separate, you should start with what you are most passionate about, not what seems easiest.

The more passionate you are about something, the easier it will be to keep at it, which is the most important thing. Be the tortoise, not the hare.

Good luck.

How can I change my niche? Is it possible after I started building my website? I'm currently on lesson 6. I'm thinking of changing from wigs to baking pastries because I would have better content to add on my site if I use baking pastries as my niche. Everyone loves baked goods and it's sure to be better in a search.
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
You can change at any time. However, depending on how far you have reached with your site, it may be easier to just delete that one and start over. As far as whether or not baked goods is better in a search, that is merely an assumption. You won't know for sure until you use the Research tool on the left and start running the numbers. A "hunch" is a great way to start the process, but you should always verify with hard data. Hope this helps :-)

can your site lead to many different products for example, your site is about basket ball. can this branch into different topics such as basketballs, clothing, boots, training drills, nutrition etc so throughout your site you can direct people to many different products relating to basketball and therefore have a wide range of products to earn a commission off within your chosen niche?

This sometimes happens. Try switching over to the Chrome browser. I have found it to be the one that "plays" nicest with our videos for some reason. Firefox isn't bad either, but still glitches more than Chrome. Internet Explorer... forget it. lol

What browser are you on?

I recommend that you install Google Chrome as your browser. This will make your experience online that much better (and resolve any video playing issues if you are having any).

Hi everybody,
I am having some confusions about my niche.
I have already selected my niche. Now how do I write the contents?
Do I write the articles like a shopping website, like description of the product with the link to the affiliate site or should I write it like an essay-like article and insert the affiliate links in between?

Thanks.
Reply
ChristineDu1 Premium
Hi, I wouldn't write like an essay, that's boring and can be longwinded. I would write articles the way you're talking to someone. Imagine you're talking to a person, just be yourself.
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - your website should be a mix of purely informational articles with no selling intent, plus product reviews, which is where you will add your affiliate links.

Start by writing some informational articles first, related to your niche, so as not to come across as too "sales-related".

I asked kyle that ones, he told me to ask my self.
I want to help people that ______________.
and fill in the blank, and then i would know what to start writing about, 2 weeks later i have 6 posts. some are reviews and some are history about a brand or product. in some of the training he also said you dont want affiliate links in all your posts if you want google to take you seriously, write something about your niche, and then you link to another post where you can put in a few affiliate links

You can start writing a content related to your niche. Your content is like you are talking to a friend a solution to his looking for something that you can help him.

Then if he is going to buy what he is looking for and that is your attached link, and you have the commissions for that products if your visitors of your site click that link.

From the "Choosing a Direction" video, it sounds like you basically recommend choosing a product or small range of products as your niche. For example, baby monitors as opposed to a more broad baby category such as baby products. So it should be pretty specific to a product like that?
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - not necessarily products, more of a subject with which you can help other people. It needs to be something you are passionate about, so you won't get bored writing about it.

To use your example above, baby monitors may be a little too narrow, and not provide you with enough material to write about. You could broaden it to "essentials for a baby's bedroom", which then gives you lots more scope. You are then targeting an audience of first-time parents, and helping them get prepared for the baby.

Cant wait to start training level 2. Level one was so comprehensive. It still takes time and focus but it was laid out in such simple terms.

I attempted building a website in the past but everything was so complicated and there was no one walking me through the process so I never finished those projects.

I surely couldn't think about making money. This program is laid out in such a way that the concept of creating a website making money and all the important stuff in between, does no feel overwhelming.

Good night, sleep well or have a great day depending on which side of the globe you are on.

I got a little confused about where to ask my question. My 2 questions are: do I have to choose only one niche? And do I have to write a blog on my niche? I have so many but I think I can narrow it down to 2. How can I choose?
Reply

You can have as many niche as you choose on separate domains but it's best advised to write on one of them, get it profitable, and then start another once you're established. It will keep you from getting over tasked especially trying to write 100 post for each in your first year to get them going strong.

A niche can honestly be anything, what are you passionate about? What are you interested in?

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

hello in my own opinion I think go with a niche what you really like,at least you have an idea what you are doing.

My idea is build a web site dedicated to my passions, interests and hobbies. I have an eclectic range of subjects with varying degrees of knowledge, I would like to impart. These include:
Engineering (I am a chemical engineer with a particular interest in renewable energy technologies)
Mathematics (this has always has been a passion of mine, especially calculus)
Computer Programming (I am learning about Linux presently and hope to share some of what I learn in the not-too-distant future)
Music (I play guitar, although not very well. I am fairly competent in music theory however, at least at the most fundamental level)
Sport (I have a particular interest in triathlon and would like to share my thoughts on ways I motivate myself to train as well as programmes I use)
DIY (I have a few projects ongoing which I could make videos and share progress about)
Money will be generated in two ways:
1) Affiliate marketing
2) For the more educational aspects (i.e the maths page) I could give free taster lessons on (say) differential equations and ask people to pay for further lessons
I have absolutely no idea if any of the above will actually generate any money but I will definitely have fun trying!
Any comments, criticisms, observations would be greatly appreciated.
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - that is a very diverse range of subjects, targeting several different audiences. You wish to be seen as an authority in a particular subject, not as someone who "dabbles" in lots of things.

You will also confuse your visitors. For example, if I found your site through searching for something guitar-related, but the rest of your articles were on engineering and maths, then I would soon leave and not return, then you have lost a potential customer.

If however, all your articles were on music, I may well bookmark your page, to return to for further advice.

Thanks for the feedback Diane, much appreciated. Your point about sticking to one niche is a good one well made. I'll consider sticking to one niche on a single website. What about different pages, each dedicated to a particular subject, would that work better or not?

You can defiantly go back and review. Also remember too the training videos. Are amazing but really only the basics to get you up and running. With your Premium membership you have full access to the upcoming and recorded webinars.

If you click on the Live Events tab on the left menu there are hundreds of webinars that cover everything in great detail the videos are an hour or more on average. And can be searched for within the Live Events tab.

There is usually a new live webinar every Friday right now Jay has been discussing the ways of using instagram and how to incorporate it into your new business. Make sure to subscribe to them so you don't miss them, if you do it's ok they will be in the live events tab when your are ready.

The webinars are one of the most amazing tools that are provided here for us, make sure to take full advantage of them. They can tend to be over looked and the information is priceless.

I hope you're right. I don't envisage my website (which is not even built yet) generating any income for many months, if at all. I have to write the training modules for my various subjects of interest (engineering, mathematics and music theory) and make the videos as well as learn about the many aspects of affiliate marketing (creating links, increasing ranking in google searches etc etc). I still have to complete the WA training program and as a newbie have no idea whether my "slow and steady wins the race" approach will actually work.

One of the best things with WA is that you can work at your own pace there is no rush other than your desire to start earning.

I think all your niches are super interesting. I know most here wont agree with me but I like the idea of a website with many niches. for example I shop at the super store because they have food, electronics, insurance, and tons more items that I need and want in one place for my Convenience.

I have over 24 years of marketing and advertising experience.
I have been waiting for an opportunity like WA for a long time.

The most important thing is exposure. The amount of websites that we get for free and can host is ridiculous for the price we pay. It's unheard of anywhere my new marketing strategies that I just mentioned briefly in my second blog. Is all about multi niche websites.

How you build one website that has multiple niches. That website can turn into as many other new websites in minutes by simply coping from one to the other.

That means your main website that has all your niches Mathematics, music, engineering, sports, DIY, ETC. is now 5 plus new websites that you made in one spot first then just Click Copy Paste.

The math is simple you now have over 5 times the exposure the individual niche sites have links to all of the sites it connects everything in network.

For me I'm not a blogger I'm a businessman and here to earn and profit. The blog content on my websites is generated by members of the website community just like here.

The Wordpress themes with your Premium membership and the right plugins make them store front websites. They don't need to be blog sites.

I do my research always just in the last few days I learned That because of how other companies and people have been using Wordpress blog websites Google is changing how they look at them and rank them.

Single topic sites will be a lot harder to get good rankings on.

"Times are changing and we need to too."

Best of luck to you, be sure to let me know if you need any help.

Jonathon...

PS. Also with the multi sites it means more affiliates can be added and spread out covers more range more exposure more earning capabilities.

And right now we are at 349 approved affiliates.

Very glad to hear someone talk about NOT blogging. I am not a writer. I want to learn how the nuts and bolts of setting up a site and how to get it up and running. How do I create traffic? It seems so far that it will be done by a blog.. which is the part that really concerns me. Great post!
Reply
JonathonLowe Premium
Hey Bobby thanks for the like and the comment.

Don't worry traffic is easy the way the blogs works is the same as just having a website description on your home page its a post and technical a blog. the page gets set as a static page and lock that post.

And the way I see it if you have it as a blog and don't have the right settings your main page blog is constantly changing..

Which, means your keywords which are the most important part to get ranked in Google are gone as soon as the blog switches to the most resent on most popular etc. Depending on the main blog post setting.

A static page keeps what you put there, there and your keywords stay where they need to be.

As I mentioned keywords are the most important part. They can be hard. Once you understand how to search and the proper ones to select with practice it's super simple.

I have a keyword stacking strategy and with my experience my websites even in the first few days can generate over 45,000 views. Having no content other than the main page description and keywords.

I have shared my keyword strategy and will be putting it in on one of my next blogs. There are free tools and information in the first one and everything you need to know about obtaining affiliate program approval there are 126 programs in the blog that approve instantly and today has been busy I'm up to 353 as of right now that I Have been approved for the big earning ones coming in more and more. I give everyone ,my strategy and explain more on how to explode earning potential on an infinite niche site.

Traffic is also easily created with social media and any advertising option.

Jaaxy and keywords help with your google ranking. And generally deal with your niche. You can play around with words from your niche with any keyword generator like Jaaxy and possible find better words to use and also discover new niches within a niche.

And no it's not a requirement but can help when narrowing down niche ideas or expanding on them.

I will leave a link to my first blog below there are free tools to help everyone get a jumpstart here.

And I'll add a copy of my definition for jaaxy and the free keyword app that is in with the free tools below. in a sec here.

Hey Tommy this is some of the thing I was descussing about keywords yesterday .

The biggest thing with keywords to remember is that you want high search numbers but you want them to be low to med,. when it comes to competition. If you use the high competition search keywords that means that you are competing with the best in the business that pay up too and way over $15 per click to make sure they get found first.

One trick I use is too add all the low competition keywords that have an expected visit from the search numbers down to about 10,000 projected visitors per day. It works really well I have 3 sites up and running in the 9 days I have been with WA and combined in less than 4 days I have already had over 45,000 page views. And have only added the homepage keywords so far.

I have only used jaaxy a few times It gives. The numbers that I mention just differently from the free app pack that's in my first blog post.

I just looked through Jaaxy quick so I can explain it a bit better for you then I'll explain a bit more about the other app.

In Jaaxy the first number the AVG is the average number of searches that the keyword receives each month

Traffic is the expected visits to your website if you achieve first page rankings in the search engines

If you click get QSR it shows the number of competitors for that same word. And shows a coloured bar Green is great, Yellow is ok and Red is poor.

For jaaxy you would want Green bars with low competitor numbers and high AVG numbers. For example if your keyword is Green and has a number around 20 there would be at least 20 other competitors that will be competing with that keyword.

Unfortunately if you are not super rich and using google ad sense pay for click you would show up in number 20 of the search results. Remember too that its just for that one keyword so someone with more keywords in the same niche could change that 20 to 200000000000000000000000000000000000000

The way to beat the big guys that pay to have their sites first, they are all the ones usually right at the top of search pages and they say ads on them nowadays they are talking over the whole first web page results and more.

To beat them you need to have more keywords that have low competition that they or only a few of them are competing on. By stacking low keywords the combinations can out rank the other websites.

The free Link tracker app that's in the app pack I mentioned gives a lot more detailed info the output of the numbers. It show the number of Views for the keywords on google in the last month. The second section predicts the number of visits to your site usually around half of the previous months searches. The third section shows the competition level High , medium and low.

Thats what I was talking about earlier when I mentioned how I search for them. usually the key words will have over 150,000 views from the previous month with the second section being around 75,000 expected visits to you site per month. When I do my stacking I will select every low competition keyword down to 10,000 expected visits per month.

If you get a really unique keyword it will be first in the selection menu and have a low competition rating from my experience will have tons of other high ranking low competition results these keywords are the jackpot. My stacks usually will have over 100,000 to 1,000,000+ in expected views. Since I joined CJ affiliates that I talk about in my second blog post. And placed my affiliate adds around three days ago i have already had over 50,000 impressions meaning that in three days over 50,000 people have viewed my webpages. And shows me that the 100K to 1Million views pre month is right in the ball park of my keyword stacks.

The app also has a cost per click box that displays the price you could pay if you wanted too usually even with the low competition the prices are $1-5 minimum and $15 and up if they are high competition.

Not to sure how familiar you or anyone reading this is with pay per click but it means you can have your add with that keyword placed first or in the top how ever many of the other people that are paying for the click's. And means that every time someone clicks your add you pay google the set price per click every time. I believe you can add funds and cap your account. It's been years since I checked into it. And with how affiliate programs are it's pointless as most affiliates wont approve your applications because it violates their contract to use any pay per click option.

It also displays the keyword Difficulty. In the keyword planner and has tons of other options.

As I've mentioned it is free and is free for life. when it's downloaded the first time it has a seven day trial notice that pops up. I'm just looking into it now it is free for life when the 7 days runs out if you click upgrade it will jump you to an options web page one of the options is free forever when you return to the app there is an registration key box. underneath the heading Registered By it says FREE LICENCE under that is the place for the actual Registration Key for the free licence.

Which I haven't been able to find as of now there are tons online but the are hacked ones from keygen's which is fine if they are just for the free licence. But if they are for one of the full licences it's copy write theft.

Not to worry though I have already emailed the company to see where the key is it probably was in the first email that I can't find.

Check it out if you want I should have the free key problem figured out in 7 days.

I can't stress how important keywords and keyword staking is before using the free app I have had and still have a paid Keyword search app thats only $4 a month it works pretty good Jaaxy lite is really good pretty sure the full version is amazing.

When I do keyword searches I usually use two or more apps at the same time. It's awesome that they include Jaaxy lite for us. It's always good to have lots of tools.

Hope this helps let me know if you have any other questions.

Best of luck Tommie...

To add the main keywords for the home page I believe it's done through the all in one SEO pack plug plugin. I tried checking but mines down at the moment upgrading.

You can add your keywords to you home page title the more keywords from your keywords list that are on your home page the better your rankings will be google searches for them.

And uses them to verify your site. For example if you had an adult site and use unrelated keywords that generate high traffic and don't have them on the home page googles algorithms know somethings is shady and will literal skip the site all together it's one of the ways they keep crap out of our searches.

I totally hear you on the scam part. I have over 12 years experience in affiliate marketing. I have been a member here for about nine days and can honestly tell you this is the opportunity I have been looking for for over 12 years.

I can't guarantee you will make money as a starter member., I do know that WA gives you two free websites and will keep them for 6 months free. After that they are cancelled unless you go Premium. In the first week you get unlimited access to all the chat and communication features. They are limited after the first week as a starter. here you have an amazing community thats here to support and help you every step along the the way.

I'll add my two blog post there what I have shared just in the last few days and will be sharing lots more you can tell me if it's useful I designed them to be able to help give everyone here a jump start free of charge,

I don't know your level of affiliate marketing skills but with the information in the blogs you could possible be making money in the first week. And I don't mean a fortune but generating money from clicks that become sales that eventually one day hopefully turns into a fortune. Again this depends on you and how hard you are willing to work and the knowledge you have already. In my first week I built 2 websites. Found an affiliate company through WA, it's CJ affiliates, I applied to 2778 affiliate programs through them and have been approved for 335 so far in my second blog I tell you how I did it and how you can too.

I did all this in the first week. I purposely waited to get my Premium so I could see exactly what could be done. I would have paid for it instantly if there was only an hour trial. And like you I'm spread pretty thin right now with everything that's going on with my business expansions.

You have the first week with almost all the features. I'd get as much done here as you can I'm sure you will be amazed like I was and know you will choose to go premium, and have six months to
before you really need to stress

Best of luck to you, let me know if you need any help and never be afraid to ask anyone here for help anytime even if one of us might not know the answers we will help you to find them...

You can go through your site dashboard and see if it's there as a option, but most of the time things like sidebars, footers, etc. are all controlled by the theme you are using; in other words, some themes were simply build without them. Play around with it to be sure, but you may have to select a different theme that includes the features you desire.

My issue was my pop up blocker for things not showing up.

Thanks! I believe that was the issue. Also, I published my Private Policy as a PAGE and when I previewed it, it still had a spot for people to comment on the bottom. Kyle said if you publish it as a page and not a post, this would not happen?

I had a problem with things not showing when I first started. Not sure if it is the same thing, some of my images and things I was adding weren't showing because my web browser pop up blocker was blocking them. They were there but blocked.

Not sure if it is the same but try adjusting your pop up blocker settings. Mine allows me to turn them off per website. I'm using the new free browser Brave its Google based and they even pay you for using it.

Jonathon...
Reply
They pay you? wow.
Reply
JonathonLowe Premium
Yes it's not much but anything is better than nothing I'm at $1.03USD in about 10 days. It's super cool because they block all the adds and suggest adds to you if you view the adds they pay you around 3 cents and I checked they even pay if you check the same add more than once.

It was suggested to me by another WA member because my Safari browser didn't work at all with the WA website and was crashing out while I was trying to watch the training videos.

If you use the Brave browser be sure to shut off the pop up blocker on the WA website, your website builder dashboard page
and your main websites. It blocks everything literally. If a website seams like it didn't load right or is missing things turn off the pop up blocker and it will reload and not be hiding the missing things.

To turn off the pop up blocker click on the Lion Head it's at the top right. If it's on it will be orange and if it's off its grey. you just click the shields on or off from the drop down menu that appears when you click the Lion Head.

Jonathon.

PS Make sure that everything is saved before turning the shields on or off.

Can I delete my initial wordpress website? I believe its niche to not be viable. I have considered other possible viable niches and would rather promote them. If the answer is yes, does it still count toward the 25 free wordpress sites I receive as a Premium Member? To all respondents, thank you for your time.

Hey Mike

Unless you have already used all of your free sites I wouldn't delete it.

You might find something that will jump start that niche again and you don't want to loose all your hard work and start again.

I recommend building your new site keep the old.

In your new site you could mention your old one and add a link to it, it could possible take off with the exposure on your new site. Just as an example...

Thanks Jonathon. I'll build the new ones, There is no relevance between them and the original one I created during the training process. I was just wondering if I could eliminate it and start over, and not have it count toward my 25 options/opportunities.

Hi Mike,

Jonathan's advice is bang on. Park up your website and start a new one. You never know when you might want to go back to the old site and keep going with it.

Also, as a Premium member you can have up to 50 websites, not 25, hosted by WA. So you are unlikely to run out of hosting slots any time soon!

Best wishes

Thanks for the like Mike.

One thing I should have mentioned to is that with linking you old site to you new site. It's a good idea to incorporate links of all your sites to all your other sites.

And can be done simply by adding a sub menu or main menu option.

For example as a sub menu under the Home page menu, you can add a page and call it something like: More From this Publisher, See More, Mikes Sites etc. On the page it links to have all your websites with a brief description and links to each one this can be a great way to get exposure to all of your sites as well as building your following.

For example a patron from one site might love that site and still check out your other ones that may be of no interest to them. But they check them out anyway because they are a fan of the one site that they love. It can help to increase traffic drastically to all your sites. Generally if some one likes your site they probably want more. This page is also a good place to add your WA affiliate links.

No problem.

With my 24+ years of marketing and advertising experience. The most important thing is exposure and with the free websites and all the other incredible tools that WA provides for us. The possibilities are endless.

A important thing to when it comes to Niches is that no niche is a bad niche if you thought about it that means others are too. If it's one thats really popular and has high completion. Having the other websites with other niches can be a great way to break into the high competition niches by using the linking strategy of your websites that I mentioned.

Best of Luck to you.

Yes, if you delete it, you'll still have room for 25 free websites.

But as everyone else said, you really shouldn't do this. You have room, it's kind of unlikely to start so many free websites, so keep it.

You never know. You may decide to give it another chance.

Hi Mike . You can delete your first site but the domain remains yours until renewal in one year's time. I'm inclined to agree with the others. Park your website, start building a new one and check what you want to do with the old one in a few months time. You would have to check with Kyle or Carson regarding if it will remain one of the twenty five if you delete it. But i personally believe it won't because you are paying to host 25 websites and if it's deleted it obviously won't need hosting. Jim

Hi Kyle...I don't know if you saw my reply to your reply, but I realized that I did not state my issue clearly at all.

After choosing Widgets, in the video you chose the Navigation Menu...and the drop-down gave you a list: Header, sub Footer 1, Sub Footer 2, etc.

Mine does NOT do that. When I click on the Navigation Menu, I only have one choice in the drop-down (which really makes it useless...but still): Primary is the only thing listed there.

So I don't know how to place my menu on the bottom of the page.

I really think I have a later version of WP than what you used in the video, and there is probably still a way to do the same thing you did in the video, but I have not been able to find it.

I'm attaching some screenshots so that you can see the difference in what you showed in the video, and how it really is now in this latest version.

Hope this helps explain the issue...so sorry not to be clear earlier.

Things like menus are typically dependent on the theme that you are using and what the theme designer was trying to accomplish. My guess is that you are not using the same theme as Kyle, hence your challenge. Consider swapping over to his until you get through all the lessons and have a better understanding of how WordPress works. Sure, his ain't the prettiest, but you can always switch back after you gain a better understanding of all the ins-and-outs. Hope this helped :-)

Well, I'm not totally sure, but the screenshots were of WP, and not my website...

I ran into a similar issue before, and it's so frustrating, but thanks for your input on the matter.
Reply

Well it turns out that you were right...I went and changed my theme to the one that Kyle used in the video, and that made the Navigation Menu drop-down the same.

I didn't realize that the theme would affect WP like that, but obviously it can and does.

Thanks so much for that info! I am much less frustrated now :)

My idea for a niche has been preworkout supplements since I started looking into affiliate marketing. I thought it was very "nichy"

They just used a preworkout site as an example in the training video. Not so unusual anymore. Does anyone think this idea for this niche may not be good?

Yes, it will still be good. There is propably not a niche in existence that does not already have affilaite sites promoting it. That does not mean you can't do it too. The internet is big, and there is plenty of room for all.

Hi Jim

The fact that it's used for an example is a good thing. Kyle wants us all to succeed. The main example is Amazon which is one of the best and easiest ways to make money at affiliate marketing. And one of the ones I always suggest. Especially if you are new. For example with your preworkout niche they have thousand of relevant products for you to use to earn money..

The amazon affiliate program can be hard to join but if you check out my blog that I posted today.

" Affiliate Approval and What That Means For You"

In it I discus how to obtain affiliate programs. Have a list of 126 that approve instantly through one affiliate company. In total as of now there are 324 that I have been approved for. I give my strategies for how to obtain the other 198. As well as my new strategy to explode everyones earning potential with affiliate marketing.

In the list of 126 affiliate programs that will approve immediately there are two that are for Nutritional supplements. And there is around 10 more in the other list I will be releasing soon.

Exercise and preworkout niches are some of the best they are things that will never go away. If it's your passion I say go for it and remember this is just your first niche. Tons more will come to you as you progress here before you know it you won't know which one to focus on the most.

Best of luck to you.

Posts will appear in your blog roll, Pages do not.

Hi Kyle,

I'm trying to figure out the access I'm supposed to have on Jaaxy. I just joined WA this week and upgraded to premium. I thought that gave the level of access in Jaaxy you show during your keyword training. However, when I'm in Jaaxy I have a very short list of results and nothing displays in the QSR column.

I also have a question about the billing for WA - I intended to pay $234 for 6 months of premium membership, but have been billed and (unintentionally) paid for an additional $126. I find that confusing, so if you could explain it I'd appreciate it.

Thank you,

you guys are all so helpful! i have another question: is making a website centered around a well known celebrity/actors a good niche? I would promote the products they use by bringing fans to that page and talking about the clothing products, digital products, makeup products, etc. that they use and have affiliate links to those products. I just thought this might be different because it is not solely for product reviews but to learn about the celebrities and then the products they use and the people might be compelled to use the products because the people they look up to use them as well.

there are more niches than anyone of us could even imagine. I would choose something much more specific like luxury jewelry, organic makeup sets or some specific digital product niche like smart TVs and accessories. Don't focus on several big topics (with thousands of niches inside). And you need to give solutions to your visitor's problems or help them to fill their needs. No matter if celebrities use those products or not, you can be the celebrity yourself in the future ;)! do WA training, it's super useful and you will find much more and better answers than I can offer.

Reply
merlynmac Premium
It can be a good niche but you'd have to get a lot of traffic to get to the products through your links for the commissions and, if they're "affordable", you're going to have to have a lot of that traffic to make decent money. That said, it can be done.

As for an authentic review, as long as you're doing research and not just making the stuff up, you should be fine. Yes, hands-on is preferred but it's not required.
Reply
webcash2us Premium
The niche sounds great and leaves you ample room to create content. However, if you don't use the product yourself then you have no first hand experience to speak of to visitors.

In this case, you will want to do a lot of product research to offer accurate information. Do not copy the product description and use that on your site.

Create your own review of the product and continue adding more site content with more product reviews.

I wish you all the best.
Reply
JKulk1 Premium
I would personally take away the 'affordable' part and narrow it down a little. Something like "Cute gifts for kids" would be better. Otherwise you will be limiting yourself to products that may only make you 50 cents commission. All the best Jim

Yeah, exactly. Writing is simply communicating an idea with others, nothing more complex than that.

I usually tell people to write in a way that they would their friend, how would you explain something, how would you communicate it, and how would you promote/recommend it.

It is this communicative style that tends to lead to better rankings as well.

For a fairly long time I have seen the need for some type of kit that is available to the public that cleans the teeth. I have noticed nothing is available in the stores [and water piks do not clean the teeth as efficiently--according to dentists].

I have attempted to patent the idea on numerous times; basically it is using products that are already on the market and putting them in a kit.
People are inherently lazy and like the idea of having a product that works effectively. The goal of using this product is both improved overall health and having to reduced use of a dentist [unless you really need to see one].
I use the basic idea myself and have consulted dentist friends of mine and the agree it is very good!

I have played acoustic guitar for over 50 years (and still do). I have progressed from simple strumming to finger style playing. I absolutely love acoustic guitars and each one has it's own particular tone depending primarily upon the age of the wood. So, what do you think about a niche of "vintage acoustic guitars"? The term "vintage", in the guitar world means 20 years old or older. I know that there are hundreds of websites that sell these because I've probably visited them all. what do you think of this as a niche?
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
That's perfect. One "mistake" that a lot of new members make is jumping into a niche that is too big. For example, they start a generic site on photography, and can't figure out why they aren't getting any traction.

Having said that -- and definitely run the numbers just to be sure -- I have a feeling "vintage acoustic guitars" is right in that sweet "Goldilocks" spot; it feels big enough that you'll see steady traffic, but not so big that you'll get drowned out by more established guitar sites.

Definitely worth checking out. Well done. :-)

I'm spending some time today developing my niche. One of my biggest hobbies and areas of expertise is sewing and costume design so I want to take that and create a website that allows people to get ideas for costumes for several occasions including festivals, parties, nights out, raves, themed events, fancy dress occasions, theatre costumes, LGBT costumes, drag queen/king outfits to name a few.

I want to provide affiliate links to sites so that they can purchase whole costumes, parts of costumes or bare materials to create costumes and create step-by-step posts to show people how to do this as well as which sewing machines and fabrics are best to purchase for beginner/intermediate/advanced projects.

Is this a good niche?

Hmm, I'm wondering does small private business can be my 'niche'? It's about renting a cottage on Kopaonik (one of the largest ski center in south-eastern Europe). Of course, I would supplement the website with interesting information about the cottage itself, Kopaonik mountain and skiing as well.

Thanks in advance! =)

If that small private business has an affiliate program - sure, it would be a good niche.

Hi - yes, a niche can be a service. Plus, you could find affiliate programs to promote skiing products.

Can be Ski niche or specific travel/homestay niche

Great. This is more like travel/homestay. I'm active on Airbnb, but I do not have my own website yet...

Being in the holiday rental business myself, I would rather give the cottage a name, one which can be the same as your domain name. Build a website with all info about the cottage and the things to do in the surrounding. Why do I say this: as I guess the idea is more to promote your cottage and get as much rental income as possible. Running a blog will give you the needed traffic (seo) after some time.

I’ve given my Niche some thought over the past few weeks and done a bit of research to see what else is out there. I am certain there is a lot of websites that have free something similar but I hope to stand out a bit. I decided to go for a bit of a collaboration with my wife and myself, she has a large amount of knowledge and experience with dieting and Keto as she has been up and down on her weight for a number of years since we started our family and I think I have a bit of a talent for writing, so together I believe we can produce a good, fun and informative website for families that want to live healthy with a Keto basis, trying to tie it in with what kids like too.

Sounds promising! I know just a little about keto, but as a reader I would love to know more about how families attempting keto can more easily avoid any nutritional mistakes, and bonus points if you include meal plans. Maybe you can offer coaching and a paywall for customized plans. Just some ideas! I'm completely an amateur offering encouragement. :)

Thanks for the feedback. I have been noting down a number of ideas and avenues. Meal plans is one of them. Eventually an ongoing opt in for plans of sorts. Affiliate links for products that help in the kitchen also. What's tasty and what's not. Ultimately providing easy options for the busy families rather than McDonalds.

If you have that knowledge definitely go for it. Keto is hot and probably will be for a long time. Having an interest AND knowledge will serve you well.

Hi Bazise,

Yes, start the training it will guide you through the answers that you are looking for.

Since you have a website up and running already I would suggest that you go premium so you can move past the website creation training and get into more of the basic content development (attracting organic traffic) and other important aspects of a solid online business.

The views are on the website or on your Pinterest account? If from Pinterest, you might consider doing paid ads with them...That is a lot of views whether for the website or for the Pinterest account, I would have someone take a look and give you some advice on how to turn these into leads and later conversions...

Cheers!

I have a question about my niche. I want to do an action figure toys website since I have some knowledge about toys. So would I be marketing major toys from brands like Hasbro and Mattel or would I get in trouble for that and would need to find smaller toy brands? Also let me know what you guys think about that niche.
Reply
merlynmac Premium
You should be fine marketing such toys. Have you researched affiliate programs that offer them? I don't know if Mattel has its own off-hand but Wal-Mart, Target and so on offer Mattel toys and they have affiliate programs.

Hi everyone,

I've taken some time to narrow down my niche and thought of a subject on time management. I'm passionate about saving time each day to do meaningful things (i.e., being outdoors, more social interactions)- and I'd love to help people get better at that.

I've narrowed it down to "I want to help people reduce their screen time, or from excessive electronic use" In the digital era, I know it's a problem for younger people with smartphones and tablets, and I want to do a blog on the subject and promote time management products/tools as well.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Should I stick with it or narrow it down further?

one question i would have is how would you make money from this? Have you looked at affiliate programs that could tie into this niche? Or is it just a case of using Adsense?
Reply
etseil20 Premium
Yes, it would be a mix of both affiliate programs and Adsense. I've done some research and have some ideas of content I would write about and promote on my blog.

Sounds like an awesome niche!
I am also passionate about staying of phones or technology especially when I am taking care of my daughter. I feel it is a wall that parents can put up and miss out on that connection that could be building with their children.
Whatever feels best is the way to go. Follow your heart and your passion and do some research to know what competition is out there. All the best!

Hi. Maybe the is covered in the training but I just can't wait to know! Do companies really accept onto their affiliate programmes a new website with very little traffic and content? Or do you start with lesser companies who are less fussy and work your way up to being accepted by more major one?
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hello from Nottingham! Other than Amazon which will accept new sites with relatively little content, other programs will inspect your site and expect to see at least 10 to 15 posts. However, they all have different rules, and you would have to see if it is covered in their terms and conditions.
Reply
Hi Diane, Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. 10 to 15 posts does not sound too arduous. So... first off I'd defo be writing for free (as expected) but maybe including links without earning commission from those companies?

Greetings from England too, by the way.

Hi - your site should be a mix of purely informational pages with no selling intent, plus review pages which is where you will be adding your affiliate links.

So, your first few posts should be topics of interest about your niche, rather than recommending products or websites.

Aha! Thanks so much. Complete newbie here :-)

You have 190 days on Amazon to sell 3 products, then they will accept you. Ebay accepts you. I have those 2 but can't figure out how to use them at this point because when I use the link I do not get the product to sell, I get a picture and the link on my site for customers to see......
