NICHES. The scariest word for most people when starting out. However, the idea of a niche should not scare you. Instead it should be exciting.

What is a Niche?

A niche is a distinct segment of a market, in other words an "audience".

When choosing a niche that fits you, you should be choosing something that is ideally an interest, a passion, a hobby, but it could be something that you would like to learn about. You don't need to BE an expert, you BECOME an expert.

I personally enjoy many different things. I enjoy basketball, I used to collect baseball cards, I like to go skiing, I am really interested in men's fashion, exercise, internet marketing, and I love everything about the online business world.

There are also many niches over the years that I have been very successful within without knowing anything about them before getting into them. Dieting, voice over IP, hosting...are just a few.

Almost anything you can think of is a niche and that is why we are going to get you to choose YOUR niche based on things that you are interested in. You can earn money online from absolutely every single niche because there are billions of people out there searching for information, for solutions, and spending billions of dollars or products/services every day.

The idea of a niche can be a little confusing at first, so I have created a video walk-through for this lesson that is going to walk you through what a niche is, how you earn money through a niche, and I will get you choosing your initial direction online.

Check out the video below.

DISCUSS THIS VIDEO HERE: Choosing Your Direction - It Starts With a Niche!

Your online business should not feel like a day job. Earning money online should be fun, and it is fun. This all starts with choosing a niche that you are interested in and will enjoy working with.

The MORE you enjoy doing something the LESS it feels like a job and the more productive you are going to be. Carson and I are immensely passionate about online business and teaching people how to make money online, so that is the niche we have chosen with Wealthy Affiliate.

Your niche could be anything, but at the core of your niche selection it should be something that you "like". Something you enjoy. Something you can talk about. Something you want to learn about.

Task 1: Choose Your Direction

We want you to select the niche that interests you most and gets you the most excited.

A few things that you should understand about niches are:

(1) You are going to be writing content within your niche
(2) You are going to be communicating within your niche
(3) You are going to be choosing products to promote within your niche
(4) You are going to get to help people within your niche.
(5) Your first niche PROBABLY won't be your last (so don't worry about it being perfect)
(6) Any SINGLE niche website can become a "full time" income/business

There is NO SUCH THING as choosing the wrong niche.

Also, note that you can always change your niche down the road. Just because you are choosing a niche now does not mean you will be in this particular niche forever. Either way, please do not spend a week choosing your niche. Within the next 15-30 minutes (maximum) you should have your "starting point" niche chosen.

If you have any questions about your niche, feel free to leave a question below and we will help you out.

If you are REALLY STUCK at this point and you cannot decide on a niche, perhaps you may be interested in the make money/affiliate marketing niche. If you don't have a niche at this point, this will be your niche and we have an Affiliate Bootcamp dedicated to those that are interested in promoting Wealthy Affiliate.

==> Go here if that is you.

Onto the next lesson, building a website! Exciting stuff is ahead! :)

I feel like "Neo" in the 1st "Matrix" film... I've already completed the Level 1 Training, and I'm ready for MORE!!! I'm a student and a sponge for this training!

Seriously, to all of you just starting, just follow the training steps (center, top area of your page!) It will all come together, one step at a time! Take the steps, trust me!!!

That's exactly how I felt when I started here, like a sponge.

I didn't join WA to make money, I joined to learn affiliate marketing. After completing the OEC training I can say this platform is by far the best to learn affiliate marketing from.

The bonus is with the yearly subscription it works out to less than a dollar a day. That's very reasonable with the free hosting and continuous training and tools offered here to premium members.

Anyone can join to better their knowledge with this training and what they do with that knowledge can make them money.

Hello everyone! I am brand new to all of this and I am already learning alot that alone gives me a feeling of some accomplishment. My goal right now is to make at least $2000 within the first few weeks or first month. After that I would really enjoy being able to make it to the $20000 mark. I feel very blessed to be given such a wonderful opportunity. I want to say thank you to Kyle and Carson.

That would be nice to make that kind of money that quick, but in reality it would take a good amount of time invested to build a business to that point.

One of the biggest reasons people do not succeed with affiliate marketing is because they quit if they don't see results quickly. If it was that easy everyone would be doing this business.

However, if you apply yourself and keep going and learn ALL of the training offered here in time you can achieve that status and possibly more than that depending on your particular talents.

Wealthy Affiliate is by far the best place to learn affiliate marketing and the training, resources and hosting are simply unbeatable.

Hi - I admire your enthusiasm and attitude, but please don't get disillusioned if you don't meet the somewhat unrealistic goal you have set yourself.

Building up your online business is a long term commitment, but it's worth it in the end. Most people don't see any income at all for the first 3 months. Here are some success stories from those who have stuck to the program.

I have followed instructions and got to the end of Lesson 8. When I go to my website affiliate101.siterubix I have a menu at the top. I can click on ‘Privacy Policy’ and I am taken to that page, and the menu of ‘Home’ ‘Privacy Policy’ and ‘About Jim’ are displayed at the top of the page. I click on ‘About Jim’ and am taken to that page; index still displayed, however, there is now a main heading ‘The Blog’ in the middle of the heading pic. When I click on ‘Home’ in the top index I am taken to a page which starts off “Hello world!”, not of my making and the heading in the middle of the image is still ‘The Blog’. Have I done something wrong. Also, the top index has now disappeared.

Jim that is a theme issue. Your theme is picking up information from the pages and displaying it on the heading pic.

As a test, try changing to a different theme and see what happens.

You can log into the back office of your website and delete this from under "Pages" in the menu. There was a default one created with your website.

You will be able to find your websites within the Websites menu under "SiteManager".

Okay, so I have 2 specific questions about the affiliate programs available with WA.

1). Can a person link to a business that they themselves are already involved in? For example; if I already have a website offering cellphones and wireless service would I be able/allowed to link to that website through my WA affiliate site?

2). If I know of a product or service that I believe many people would benefit from but the company which offers said product or service does not have an affiliate program is there a way to approach that company and get them to offer some sort of affiliate program or to otherwise offer a commission if I were to drive sales traffic to their business site?
Reply
webcash2us Premium
Yes you can link the existing site to the site you create here at WA and you can use it as competition if you create a site that is in the same niche.

For instance you could do a second site for phones and wireless services and do a review of the phones and wireless services and offer visitors to go to the other site to compare the products to that site, either way you get paid.

You can email or call a company and inquire about being an affiliate with them, if they don't have a program you can suggest a platform for them like ShareASale to get them started.

However, if you're going to do that I would first join ShareASale if your not a member and have them join through the link you provide for them so you can be paid for that as well.

There are Merchant sign up links provided by ShareASale that will earn you a nice commission for bringing that merchant to their platform. Once they join you can grab your links to promote that merchants products as an affiliate.

Hello Everybody,

I am fairly new here, today it's my second day of training and I feel I am learning a lot. I was referred by Jerry Huang, and my coach is Kyle, and I understand Carson is only available for technical support. Also I understand I have the support of the community, if I have an open question there is always somebody available to help. I have a full time job and I am doing this in the evenings, my hope is to learn the most I can and learn to be successful doing affiliate marketing. I don't know how long it's going to take and how soon I will be able to enroll in the Premium Program but I am glad to be here and thanks to everybody for the opportunity.

Hello Kyle, Thanks for the trining for setting up my website. I believe my almost 76 years old brain cells are functioning close to maximum. I may be wrong, (hopefully), but it seems that the videos in lessons 45 and 6, about SEO Optimization. I could be missing something, but it seems that the videos are going over the same thin in all three lessons mentioned above.

I am just wondering when are we going to get to the session that guides us in putting contents on the website that was created. :-)

I am looking forward to the other lessons as each one seem to reinforce what was learned in previous lessons.

Thanks again.

Then there are 1,000's of training modules and over 400 hours of live event replays that you can leverage that are PURE value. Not to mention new live events every week (with your premium membership).

As I am not good English in writing, how do you recommend what should I do to write an article for the niche idea?

Also, the way to choose the niche, I have to think about what kind of niche that could turn it to make money online not to write whatever I can passionate with it Right ???

From the video lesson the product from Amazon, do you have an idea of digital products such as E-book and maybe I can do the niche for ebook, please advise.

Thank you

Hi June,

If you feel your english isn't that good, you could use a program like grammarly to help you.
Choosing a niche - pick something you are passionate about as you will be able to create a lot more content for that niche then just choosing one that you think will make you more money.

If you just chose one because it makes money, you might find it hard to create content. No content, no monetisation.

You are much better helping people in a niche you love...

Nail down your niche, then you can start looking for ebooks via Google, etc.

Thank you very much, I am now using Grammarly to help me now. Hope it works for me. thanks again.

So the general gist is build up a suite of keywords and then we do what ? Skillfully scatter them in our content i assume, like little nuggets of attention OR is it just for our back office headers so the algo`s can pick them up OR is it both of those but with a particular emphasis on one or the other or equal importance? Just wondering basically any answers appreciated.
Reply
DCW2000S Premium
No, the gist would be follow the training, and then you should have a real good chance at doing something successful online.
If however, you're looking for a get rich quick type of deal, then you're in the wrong place altogether.

Seriously, if you really want to build an online income that will take some work but will not be like a 9 to 5 job for some company then give this an honest try and you may be pleasantly surprised.

You can do this, see you at the top!
David

MatthewT93 Premium
You'll be writing content based around a specific niche of your choosing. The importance of keywords being in your content covers both of the things you mentioned. 1. It lets the algorithms know what you site is about. So when someone is searching for information on your niche, Google suggests your website to them. 2. Your content will actually cover information on that topic, niche, keyword etc... so you're supplying what the person was searching for. It's the keywords that bring in visitors from Google searches, the content you create that keeps them on your site, and the products you suggest that turns them into potential purchasers.
Reply
Love the motivation DCW!

I suspect you have misread my intent, certainly this is not a get rich quick process, minimum 6 weeks more likely 12 to 16 months before any substantial rewards could be incoming is my analysis. I was truly just wondering about the specific question i asked for no other purpose than to have a clearer idea of constructing content. Thank you though and yes i look forward to seeing you at the top.

Hi GIlbert,

I would strongly suggest that you go back over the training again. You are not doing something correctly (skipping a step or not doing one of them right) and this is something you will be doing often.

It is best to watch the videos two or three times to make sure you are understanding and grasping these basic tasks of submitting content to your website(s).

If you don't get the basics down now it could lead to more problems down the road, so please take the time and get it right before you try to move on.

Hope this helps,

The Starter membership is like a free trial offer; it's meant to give folks a chance to see what WA is all about by taking some introductory training and website-building.

As a Starter, you can take the first level of the core training, as well as the Boot Camp training. You can also launch 2 websites built on SiteRubix subdomains.

Note that Starter members' SiteRubix websites are deleted at 6 months unless they upgrade to Premium by that time (more than enough time to make a decision about that).

You can compare Starter and Premium memberships here:

Just finished up with all of the training that comes with being a free member and honestly im still very confused on all of this. If i were to go to a premium membership how long does it take for the website to get put out onto google and other search engines? And can that happen being a free member?

Hi - Have you also checked out the 2 classrooms full of training that is available to free members? You are also free to roam around in other member's blogs.

As far as your site getting out to google and other search engines, it can take a few days to a week to get indexed but it isn't very long.

You can certainly make money as a free member, however in my opinion, that will be much more difficult for someone who is a complete beginner. The training that is available to premium members is top notch and if followed, can take you anywhere you want to go in the affiliate marketing world.

Best of luck to you!

Hi Jaden
That sounds interesting - certainly not anything I have heard of. So long as you can monetise it, all your hard work will pay off.
It is better to start with one site and once that is up and rolling, build the next site - this is a lot of work and two sites could be overwhelming when you are starting out.

Very interesting...

This has probably been asked/said before:

But what happens if a customers (for this example) decides to do another search one they land on the football snack helmet....leave (shut down browsers) and say go back to amazon a few days later (after a few more moments "educating yourself") and just load up amazon and buy the helmet.....could potentially feel like I am educating a customer to make a purchase a few days later (depending on their "buying journey" if you will).

One could say you need to get the customer to purchase right then and there...so price points and all are great (like the protein showing a few options). Its all very fascinating and my head space is pulled in a few directions.

I'll keep diving down the rabbit hole though - curious more than ever!

Hi Chad,

I don't remember off hand but I believe the cookies set on their computer if they click on your link to view the product it lasts for either 30 or 90 days, so if they go back and buy it going directly to Amazon's website, after looking at it by using your link you get the commission.

Read the affiliate program agreement it will explain all that process to you!

Hope this helps!!

I have no clue whats up with that but I fixed myself. It seems to be fine now.

If you continue to have trouble put in a support ticket. There's only so much we can do without being able to see what the trouble is.

I'm really a hands on kind of guy. If there is a problem I like to get under the hood and at least take a look before I take it to someone else.

Here, you have access to experts so I'm told? I have no reason to doubt that, and every reason to believe it. That's great, because that's not usually the case in most places.

Focus on that, once you start establishing a foot print widen it out, say start home security then include smart homes etc.

In the beginning it can be about learning the processes, creating the website, adding content and so it goes.

Start narrow broaden out as you go.

what do you think?

Hi - marijuana is not legal in the UK and is unlikely to be in the foreseeable future. So, remember, that your website will be seen worldwide, including in the countries where it is illegal.

However, if you want to promote CBD, which doesn't contain the THC which makes you high, then yes, that is a hot topic and there are affiliate programs for that.

The sell of MJ online is not legal nor is it legal in many countries, including the US, UK, etc. I wouldn't attempt to promote the sale of it only, but you could have a website dedicated to news within the the industry and to the apparel or collectibles in the space.

Or you could choose a completely different niche. Up to you.

You'd be fine to talk about marijuana news, or even promote marijuana related stuff like vape pens. Plus, there's plenty of CBD you can promote online.

Pot smokers have their own culture, so it's definitely a niche audience. You could even subdivide that audience into one group that is big stoners, and another group which smoke recreationally. May people are switching from booze to bud because of calories and carbs.

So I was thing about using Travel gear as a niche.
Starting out with day bag, 1 day bags, and 2 day bags, as well as portable power supplies (the rechargeable battery packs that can charge a phone once to ones that can keep a tablet going for a couple days), eventually expanding into more. Any thoughts?

Hi there
I like the way you think - very creative :-)
Travel Gear sounds like a great niche to me, just be careful not to go too broad, from what I understand, it is best to keep your niche as narrow as possible. If you look at just suitcases and bags, the opportunities are huge.
Hope that helps you.

If I already have a WordPress Premium website can I bring it over to WA as one of my two websites? How does that work with paying my yearly premium WP website fee? Does that remain separate or would it fall under my premium membership fee with WA? How does that work?
Reply
webcash2us Premium
Not as a free member, that only covers the two site rubix sites.
But you could copy the site and install it on one of the free sites.

You can have the WA DNS pointed at your site as a premium member and it would be hosted by WA free under your premium account.

You can move the domain name here but than you would need to build the site again.

The fee you are currently paying will remain unless you move the site to eliminate those hosting fee's, the same with your domain registration, it remains unless you bring it to WA.

I am finding it hard to find my Niche, I want to do so many things, but yet I don't want to steer away from what I am wanting to do. I am a simple man with simple ways, I had a Locksmith business, but it became too hard to stand and walk because of my back and feet disability,

I hope this does not sound bad; but my Dad has knee Problems. I can't say what to do about the back; other than buy a Brace; if you want to? But, I can say about the feet disability. You could buy: "Dr. Scholl`s" for feet. Or you could look into getting other added padding for your Shoes. If you have added padding to your shoes; it might help your feet and back. I apologize if you have thought of this before. But, if you have not? You might want to try to get some kind of padding for your Footwear.

I am 37 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child, and one thing that I’m very interested in promoting as my niche would be baby swaddle sleep sacks that would help a baby stay asleep longer and reduce sleep deprivation from parents. I struggled so much with getting my son to sleep and want to be more prepared with my dear daughter on the way. Could I also promote literature on baby sleep training along with sleep sacks or other similar products that help with babies staying asleep at night?

Absolutely. That sounds like a wonderful niche and product, and one which you should be able to write many articles around. I like it :-)

I really understand the need for newborns to sleep. My wife and I fostered 52 babies, six weeks each until they were adopted. We missed a lot of sleep.

The niche for sleep aids for newborns should be good. As a mother you know first hand and can write about your experience.

Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I have already typed out an article on the topic of male pattern baldness only it isn't posted online just a rough draft. I'm just not sure I want this to be my niche because I was thinking more about along the lines of how make money with affiliate marketing as I am told this is the easiest to get started. However, I don't want to throw all that work I put in so far on the male pattern baldness article I typed out.
Reply
DeniseDavis1 Premium
You could include in your article natural supplements that suppose to stop or decrease hair falling out. If you do a search on male pattern baldness affiliate program different companies will come up such as https://programorama.com/health/hair-loss/. point out the benefits of the supplement and if it is available in more than one place, become an affiliate of each one. Then list each place the product can be found in your article along with a link to click to get them to the other page, such at the main website, amazon, gmc, target etc. Regardless of which link they click if they make a purchase you make money!

Thank you Denise for responding. I will look into that. One quick thing, do I have to reference the origin of my research within my content or just certain places I deem necessary?
Reply

Google actually likes it when you reference another site. That is a part of off-site seo and google favors it. You can also contact the other site and let them know that you have written an article and have linked to them. If they like your article they may link back to you so that their followers can see your article. This is how you build domain authority which helps you to get found in search engines. Just make sure the site you are linking to is a worthy site. If not it could actually hurt your site in google eyes. you can use the moz domain tool to find out the other site domain authority rating. The higher the number the better.

I'm hoping for some feedback on the niche I have chosen. I wa t to do a parenting blog about raising 2 girls. My second child is extremely difficult and is giving me lots of content to explore, everything from eczema, to picky eating and sleep problems. My 14 year old has her own set of issues for me to write about, whether she likes it or not. I feel like parenting blogs are everywhere. Is this to broad? Do I need to narrow in more? Thanks for any advice on this subject.
Reply
MatthewT93 Premium
You have an idea, it just needs a bit of tweaking. You have the experience to talk about raising "difficult" children. That could be the focus of your writing. Your audience would be parents who are raising similar children, right? Now you'd want to start brainstorming topics you can discuss that ALSO relate to products your audience would want. That's where you're going to be able to monetize your efforts and get paid. Your website should be a mix of informative articles, blogs, reviews, etc.. that also include relevant product suggestions. You can write about any parent topic you'd like, it doesn't always have to lead to product suggestions, but just know that product suggestions is where you make your money. If you can find a good amount of related products to this niche, and can think of ways to fit them into your writing, then it's a good choice.
Reply
Mik211 Premium
In following that idea(from Matthew) , maybe theres a product you want to try and as an affiliate maybe the company will send you a sample to try and then you could blog about it, keeping some money in your pocket as you potentially make money by sharing your results. Maybe even YouTube reviews as well as blogs, doubling your earning potential over time.
Reply

There are a lot of parenting blogs, but like @JAD1584 said, you're on to something with dealing with "difficult children", or kids with a lot of quirks. You could get creative with it, and people will come to see the unique ways you handle your situation. Maybe some products which keep your kids occupied.

I've been an Amazon affiliate for awhile (long before I joined WA) and I've never been charged an advertising fee.

I logged in and looked around, the only thing I saw relating to advertiser fees, it's something you have to sign up for and not related to the affiliate program.
Reply
MatthewT93 Premium
I know it sounds confusing, but "advertising fees" are actually referring to the money being paid TO you, not BY you. It's the fee (% of the sale) the company pays you when you advertise for them. Amazon is the one who is paying the fee, not you. You're recieving the fee, if that makes sense.

question2:

Hello Geyth, interesting name by the way. Based on my research it is best to focus one one niche and build on top of that whether it be e-books, films, etc. Once you have your niche down which it sounds like digital products, you can find something more specificically related to digital products and build content around that whether a blog or you-tube channel and promote your product that way. I'm suprised Clickbank doesn's support your country as I understood they were compatible globally. I will search for one and let you know. Do you have an idea as to what digital product you would like? A niche like affiliate marketing is good niche where there are several digital products to choose from. Anyway hope this helps and wasn't too confusing, ciao.

Awesome, that is great. Now if you don't feel entirely knowledgable on that topic or niche then I encourage you to initiate your research on topics releated to what you mentioned which is programming since you are a programmer, this should be pretty easy, web design, and so forth. But start now if you haven't already and layout what you know so far in a microsoft word document and do a rough draft and build off of this when you learn more from your research. You can promote digital products based on this high quality content you are going to create on your website or blog or you-tube channel or whatever you are comfortable with. I haven't forgot about finding a platform like clickbanks that supports your country so just hang tight ok.

Hello, Denise. That sounds great! A good way to start is by finding products that relate to your niche, and then basing some of your articles around them. I notice that some sites use Privacy Policy and some use Disclaimer rather than Privacy Policy itself. I'm a little bit perplexed on the use of both pages and what I have found on Google is that Privacy Policy is for web sites that occasionally request customer's personal information or sites that sell stuff to protect their clients' privacy. On the other hand, I'm not quite sure what Disclaimers are used for and seeing that my niche for my first web site is not focusing on selling but rather on like a personal 'how to make money' blog for people to read. So, is Privacy Policy a must in my web site or should I use Disclaimers instead?
Reply

Hi - a Privacy Policy advises visitors that your website will set cookies, use Google Analytics, and retains any comments made on your posts.

An Affiliate Disclosure advises potential customers that you receive a commission if they click on any of your affiliate links. They have a right to know this.

That requires a lot of work and keeping up with two sites will be hard to do especially just starting out in this business.

It's best to select one of the two and go in that direction to start out. There's a lot of content writing, it's best to get the one going strong before attempting to do two sites.

Down the road you may want to venture into the other once you have the knowledge and talents to do both.

There are a couple of ways to look at it.

First off, don't spread yourself too thin. Focus on one business and get it up and running. Then, when it's semi-self-sustaining, start another if you wish.

I know many people think, why not just do both and, if you're an affiliate marketing veteran, sure but, if you're not, take the time to learn the process. Don't rush it.

As for which one is more lucrative... It all depends on what niches you compare, how much effort you put forth, the affiliate program and commission structure, and so on.
Reply
EddySalomon Premium
Because most of the time you're going to make mistakes with your first website that you want to avoid with your second. And that's why I never recommend to newbies doing two sites at once. Most people can't even keep with writing consistent content for one site regularly let alone two.

And you shouldn't just base your niche on what's more lucrative. If you're not actually knowledgable or passionate about the niche, it will show in your content. And people won't trust it as much and thus impact your conversions. Furthermore you're more likely to give up when you don't see those immediate results on a niche you picked because it's more "lucrative". The reality is any niche site will take months to see results. So you better off picking something you really know, are passionate about and meets what I laid out here: Chasing after the most lucrative isn't the best policy. You need to think long term and be ready for the marathon.

I did the Word Press thing with Host Gator. I got my Web Name and the monthly cost total 25.66. That was great. Now I put my shop together and I am ready to go live but I can't get the button on my items to activate and go to the cart. I gave them a call. I am only paying 10,88/month for this.

OK now I get to talk to someone that tells me they have a team that will go in and look at my shop and fix it for me. Here is the catch, they will do it for me for 49.00/mo. What a surprise. I could have gone with Go Daddy for 19.00/ month with them paying for advertisement and being able to go to google etc only if you pay for the privileged,

So Far on here I have not laid out any money, but they are willing to teach me about SOM(?) I think this is placement for advertisement. Any way I figured I would take advantage of what is offered for free, look at my finances and then go from there. I do not need the premium yet but when I do, I will stop paying Gator there money and go with this. I am very willing to give it a try. What more can I loose. I have already decided to use the internet for my home business. I have already spent a few dollars chasing after some elusive Funnel butterfly that makes no sense to me at all. And ate my money.

This is just my opinion. I guess everyone can learn there own way and make there own mistakes. I wish I had found this first before loosing time and money on other fake programs.

Consider yourself lucky, I have spent many thousands of dollars chasing the next great thing online. Look, I have spent years at Godaddy, Hostgator, Bluehost and some others that are not even worth the mention. To be perfectly honest with you. If you don't have any real experience with internet marketing, affiliate or otherwise, you are much better off right here.

I'll tell you why, you are going to have problems arise, or at best questions that you don't have the answers to. Godaddy, Hostgator and the rest of those hosting companies are not going to teach you how to run that business of yours. What they will do is charge you every time you go to them for help and that is only if it is directly related to your website. Questions about how to best market your products or how to get traffic or any number of other problems you may face while running any business are not going to be answered by them. They will sell you a search engine product that is supposed to help you with traffic and it's not going to do much if anything. If may submit your site to the search engines, but so will your sitemap when it's built.

For starters, that's not their niche? Also, they are not going to have you or anyone else coming back at them for problems arising from information that they may give you. Here you have more people to help you than you can count, and this is what we do here. Were all affiliate marketers.

Is everything here perfect, no it's not, but it's a heck of a lot better than any other place I have been in the last 10 years online, and I have been around I can assure you of that. Hostgator and Godaddy have you on servers with literally hundreds maybe thousands of other websites. I have not seen the servers here yet, but I'm told that after 30 days I will have more access and I will be waiting for that to happen. That, however, that is not a make or break deal. I like it here and I truly believe that if I have an issue with something Kyle will help me to get it sorted out, and I know that anything related to affiliate marketing will be answered here if anywhere! This is Wealthy Affiliate, and I am actually proud to be a member here.

I have done my research, and there are many talkers online, but what I have found here are "DOERS"! You can take that to the bank Bonnie Myers.

One other thing and this was why I stopped what I was doing to talk with you when I noticed. My sister's name is Bonnie Meiers.

It caught my eye when I saw it, and the first thing I thought was what are the chances? Of course, I noticed the spelling of your last name so I knew it wasn't my sister.

Now you can do what you want Bonnie, but I guarantee you that you will change your mind and hopefully before you lose too much more money in the process.

Good luck, and if you decide to do this right I will see you at the top when you get there!

Hey @AngelaGrohol don't worry I think that everyone thaught the same at some point at the beginning. It only depends on you to create your comment interesting for your audience. It'll probably take a little of time to set up in your head but it'll come. My blog is about skin care and makeup and there a lot of competition out there but you can easily take advantage of it. Keep working on your formation, wtach some live events and training there are very helpful. Cheers from Belgium

Hi Angela. Health and Wellness is a pretty big niche so you would probably be better to find something within the niche to focus on. Spend some time on keyword research and see what ideas pop up that you would enjoy building your site around.

Hi Angela. I thin the Health and Wellness niche is way too broad. My suggestion would be to list every sub-niche that you can think of that relates to health and wellness. i"ll bet you can come up with dozens of sub-niches. Next look at every sub-niche and even "niche-down" from there. When you have your list, pick the sub-niche that most appeals to you. And I wouldn't worry about there being too little interest in that sub-niche - with the number of people interested in health and wellness, I'm sure there will be many, many people interest in every aspect of the topic.

Good luck, and all th best. :-)

Comment on at least Two people: -

I really don't feel qualified to do that as I am no expert in this context - or in any context for that matter.

Could I just say that in setting our own goals we attempt to determine as much relevant, factual information as is possible in the time frame available.

Then, having some tentative ideas of what we might like to achieve we can determine what seems realistic, and worthwhile, and, importantly, whether it is worth the effort.

If we determine to go ahead, then we give it our absolute best shot.

The only reason we would stop is if new, negative information turned up and we couldn't find a sensible change of course that would get around it.

Hope this is helpful.

Hello Everyone, I have several things that I am very passionate about and it's hard to narrow it down. I can talk several hrs from outdoors to farming, or even sports. So I know over thinking my niche which I tried to sleep on it last night and still I would love to run all of my great ideas I have running through my mind.

Travis - you're on the right track.

Start by following your passion, but narrow it down to a micro topic within that interest.

Drill down to a subject that perhaps you or someone close to you has had personal experience, or a topic in which you have particular knowledge or curiosity.

I really like this little training article on choosing niches: Try not to overthink it, and just go with your first instincts :)

Welp. I'm thinking too much into the niche thing again!
Yesterday, I was super confident! I was considering koi fish care/koi pond care. However, I've never taken care of koi before.

Now this morning I'm thinking of manga/anime/gaming. I know choosing a niche is not this hard! I'm definitely overthinking.

How do I get out of this cycle where I'm second-guessing myself?

Hi - if you know nothing about koi, then writing content is going to take a lot of research, and you need to be absolutely accurate in your advice. After all, these are valuable and expensive fish.

If manga or anime is a passion which you could talk about endlessly, then that may be a better choice, although I would narrow it down to one or the other, they are different audiences.

This was a helpful video, I tried in the past to choose a niche to go into and I chose to go into the coffee side of things. I was once a barista which was one of the happiest jobs I've ever had in my life, plus I drink coffee on a daily basis. It's just how do I narrow down something within such a broad category like the coffee industry which is I'm sure already full of expert sites? This is where I can get lost and frustrated making it difficult to move forward with online marketing.
Reply
Kyle Premium
I would recommend that you narrow it down a bit, what aspect of "coffee" do you want to help people out with? What aspect of this particular niche do you want to help folks with?

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)
Reply
I noticed that most internet marketers here and even from the introduction video explained are focusing on niche area where they recommend people to buy things through Amazon, AliExpress, ebay etc. Apart from promoting products and selling stuff via these comapanies, is it okey if I create my niche area focusing on people searching for money online like affiliating with Fiverr, upwork or any other sites out there that offers freelancing jobs because currently I am engaged with these area of work so maybe I have a gist of how it might work for others
Reply
Hi,
that's a very nice question. You can create any niche that is what you have and you are able to go round it , in and out. And if you focus referrals, there's that section on your dashboard. You can attract people from different social networks.

As I also figure out on the website, you can make money if allow ads on it. It depends largely on the traffic and rankings on google.

So the training was designed on how somebody can quickly get ranked on the network.
Just follow the training and do the tasks, hopefully you will get the best .

i would narrow it down a little bit as weight loss for teens is different to weight loss after the menopause.
so you could go for weight loss for women over 40 ( or in your 40's), for example
find out the dietry need for women within their 40's, whether there are special requirements- what to avoid, what to eat, etc.
talk to a specific audience and you will gain traction, try talking to everyone and you end up talking to no one.
it is a good niche so go for it.

When you upgrade and you register your own domain, you can actually move one of the existing sites to it and WA will put a forward in place from the old URL too. There's not really a way to merge two into one.

Each site will need to have its own domain name.

Hosting them is covered with a Premiere membership. The annual registration fee will still apply for each domain you purchase.

I can find it if I use the "search" function on the website - but I cannot see it when I log in and open the site. I have to "search" it via the search box on the website. Will this page show on the navigation bar once I build the menu/pages and link the page perhaps?

Yes, once you create a top navigation menu and drag the privacy policy page to where you want it, it will then show up on your site. The search box is usually a sidebar widget that is included with the theme, at least that's how it was with mine.

Hi Charlie

Here are some answers to your questions:

1. You could build a one-page website that is simple. the challenge is that your competition will probably have something more interesting available for the market. I would not recommend a one-page website. Content is king in the online world which means you will need articles on your site which attract your audience.
2. There are a couple of templates set up for necessary pages, i.e. affiliate disclaimer etc. Not niche-specific templates for the whole site.
3. You can use a website that was designed outside the WA program, that is no problem. Site support can assist you with bringing that it.
4. Like you, I am not IT savvy and have found the system and support within WA to be awesome with helping me build my site. It is a learning curve, my experience so is that the training gets you through all the learning you need.

I encourage you to
* get stuck into the training.
* if something doesn't make sense, ask for help in Live Chat, in the Help Center and direct with Site Support.
* Also, do the training more than once if it doesn't stick the first time - this is what I have to do :-)

Wishing you every success with your online business adventures!

If I get a referral from my link to a Amazon (for example) for a particular product and the person likely did not buy at the first time but later go back say after some days directly to Amazon site to buy same product that she discovered through my ad, would I get any commission for the product even though the actual purchase was not done through my ad at first.

Hi - Amazon has a 24-hour cookie, your customer would need to purchase it within 24 hours of clicking on your link.

You may be interested to learn, that with Amazon, customers don't even have to buy the particular product you are promoting, you get a commission on anything they purchase within that 24 hours.

Other affiliate programs have longer cookies, you need to read their terms and conditions.

You need to be more specific. What type of health area are you most interested in. Health and fitness are really two niches and both would still be to broad. Fitness could be "Getting fit for 40 plus" or"Fitness for Boomers" "Young and keeping fit" etc.jim
Reply
nathaniell Premium
You are right - health and fitness is too broad. But there are many potential niches within that you could choose from.

Finding a good niche seems like a tough task, but it's actually pretty easy. Actually, ANY niche can make money, so you definitely should not worry if your niche is profitable or not. As far as competition goes, that's also something to not worry about. If there's competition, it just means people are making money. That means you can make some too! As time progresses, new products come out, new technology is introduced, new ideas formed, and each change is an opportunity for "the new kid" to get a foothold and overtake established websites.

So the big question is not "what" is going to make money, but "what do you want to make money with?"

In other words, what are your own interests?
What do you think would be interesting to research and write about?
What do you want to help people with?

A good sentence to help you decide your niche is "I want to help people _____"

Helping people is the best way to make money in any business. Everyone wins. Short of that, pick something that you just find interesting.

There are literally thousands of affiliate programs, products, and ways to make money in any niche or industry if you get creative. All of that will come into focus in Level 3 of your training, so for now, we just need to look at getting your topic chosen, your website built, and then start creating awesome content for your business!

I'm just getting started on here and one of the first things I read was that you can choose ANY niche for a website. But I've just watched the first couple of minutes of the 'How To Make Money' vid and its showing me a diagram that indicates that I need to sell a product. My project involves a service (a free service in fact). I know ecommerce websites are not the only websites that can generate revenue but I just want to confirm that WA's training isn't solely based on the assumption that you are selling a product from your website. Can someone speak to this pls? Thank you.
Reply
chender684 Premium
Nope, you are selling products or services by putting affiliate links to those products on your site and in your articles.
You do not need products of your own, no inventory, not shipping and no returns.
It is all done by links that you will created after you join Affiliate programs that go with your niche.
All of this is covered in detail within the training.
