NICHES. The scariest word for most people when starting out. However, the idea of a niche should not scare you. Instead it should be exciting.

What is a Niche?

A niche is a distinct segment of a market, in other words an "audience".

When choosing a niche that fits you, you should be choosing something that is ideally an interest, a passion, a hobby, but it could be something that you would like to learn about. You don't need to BE an expert, you BECOME an expert.

I personally enjoy many different things. I enjoy basketball, I used to collect baseball cards, I like to go skiing, I am really interested in men's fashion, exercise, internet marketing, and I love everything about the online business world.

There are also many niches over the years that I have been very successful within without knowing anything about them before getting into them. Dieting, voice over IP, hosting...are just a few.

Almost anything you can think of is a niche and that is why we are going to get you to choose YOUR niche based on things that you are interested in. You can earn money online from absolutely every single niche because there are billions of people out there searching for information, for solutions, and spending billions of dollars or products/services every day.

The idea of a niche can be a little confusing at first, so I have created a video walk-through for this lesson that is going to walk you through what a niche is, how you earn money through a niche, and I will get you choosing your initial direction online.

Check out the video below.

DISCUSS THIS VIDEO HERE: Choosing Your Direction - It Starts With a Niche!

Your online business should not feel like a day job. Earning money online should be fun, and it is fun. This all starts with choosing a niche that you are interested in and will enjoy working with.

The MORE you enjoy doing something the LESS it feels like a job and the more productive you are going to be. Carson and I are immensely passionate about online business and teaching people how to make money online, so that is the niche we have chosen with Wealthy Affiliate.

Your niche could be anything, but at the core of your niche selection it should be something that you "like". Something you enjoy. Something you can talk about. Something you want to learn about.

Task 1: Choose Your Direction

We want you to select the niche that interests you most and gets you the most excited.

A few things that you should understand about niches are:

(1) You are going to be writing content within your niche
(2) You are going to be communicating within your niche
(3) You are going to be choosing products to promote within your niche
(4) You are going to get to help people within your niche.
(5) Your first niche PROBABLY won't be your last (so don't worry about it being perfect)
(6) Any SINGLE niche website can become a "full time" income/business

There is NO SUCH THING as choosing the wrong niche.

Also, note that you can always change your niche down the road. Just because you are choosing a niche now does not mean you will be in this particular niche forever. Either way, please do not spend a week choosing your niche. Within the next 15-30 minutes (maximum) you should have your "starting point" niche chosen.

If you have any questions about your niche, feel free to leave a question below and we will help you out.

If you are REALLY STUCK at this point and you cannot decide on a niche, perhaps you may be interested in the make money/affiliate marketing niche. If you don't have a niche at this point, this will be your niche and we have an Affiliate Bootcamp dedicated to those that are interested in promoting Wealthy Affiliate.

==> Go here if that is you.

Onto the next lesson, building a website! Exciting stuff is ahead! :)

This makes so much sense.
But there is always doubt, particularly at an early stage of learning anything new.
And the doubt is...it seems too easy! I understand there is hard work to be done and a process to follow, but the principle seems so straight forward.
Can it really be as simple as this? What is the catch?
Reply

The catch is that it is easy in theory, however after you've started working in it for the first month it become very hard sometimes to motivate yourself to work or have the desire to do so.

It also takes a minimum of 6 months for Google to start trusting your website.

Most people can't ride that first 6 months out.

I'm on month 4 almost, and trust me it is hard some days!

But I'm starting to see progress now!

Thanks for this and well done keeping with the programme.
I hope you see the fruits of your labour soon.

So I posted earlier and only got feed back on the niche part of my post.

No one commented on the fact that NFL snack helmet site in the demo is nothing like what the sites we're being told to build.

im not a premium member so I cant post any urls BUT lets cheat.

footballsnackhelmets . com

take out the spaces and check it out for yourself to see what im talking about.

so the further i go into this training it seems like we are being geared to have this one main site where we blog all day about products related to what our site niche is, but what happens when you set up more sites? will it get to the point where we have to blog non stop for the all the different niche content as more sites are made by one individual?

I know i can design an simple and appealing website to host a product like the the NFL snack helmet no probs.

My problem really is that im a minimalist and personally against consumerism as its literally killing us all. I come from generational poverty and my whole life has been garbage picked and ghetto rigged. If I where to blog about a product it would just be about how much you dont need it.

That being said i have no problems setting up digital sign spinners to draw traffic to sites with various products. Im not here to tell people how to live their lives.

but can some one explain to me why the blogging and constant personal interaction with the traffic on your site is necessary or at least why we're being led to believe that?

who ever made the NFL snack site must of had the same question as me cause the only thing that author said on his whole website about the snack helmets was in his "about" page and it just says that his friend had one and he thought it was cool. thats it....

please acknowledge and elaborate on this discrepency between the demo video and whats actually taught.

I'll try to answer some of your questions here. Bear in mind that I am also new here...just been here a few weeks longer than you.

The NFL snack helmet site was an example of a person who saw a product that they liked and decided that they wanted to promote that item as something that they believed in.

As I recall, Kyle was teaching us in the video not to write about things we don't know anything about, then he described the case of the guy who sells helmet snack bowls.

That part is simple to respond to.

As far as being bent against consumerism goes, This whole community is depending upon consumerism for their success. I don't just mean the WA community, every community. Let's face it; the more we earn, the more we buy. If you, however, are more prone to dissuade the sale of a product, I wonder if you came to the right place.

I'm certain you did.

No matter how much money you have or had, you didn't get it without consumerism. Even if all you're doing is collecting aluminum cans, those don't mean anything to you unless you find someone to buy them. You have to find a market for selling your aluminum cans, show them the cans to convince them that they are clean and aluminum, then sell them.

The recycling company then has to find a market for their large volume of aluminum cans and so on until the company that makes sheet aluminum buys them and turns them into aluminum sheeting. Now, they have to find a market to sell the sheets of aluminum, maybe even to a manufacturer of aluminum cans, who then sells the parts to beverage companies who then adds value to the aluminum cans and sells that aluminum back to you.

It's all driven by consumerism.

You came here to learn how to capitalize on consumerism, but you've only been here a couple of days. Spend some time reading other people's posts, and spend more time learning to build your first website.

The blogging on your website is to help you establish yourself in your niche and get you used to writing content. Once you've established a presence online, you will begin to build authority in your niche and eventually, you will be able to sell things within your niche, either directly or indirectly to people who have come to respect you and to new people who can then easily find you on the internet.

You could be blogging now. You've already spent 351 words on a rant full of questions that all the training here will teach you except one. The football helmet snack bowl site.

It is different because the owner of the site wants it to be. It really is that simple. We are all individuals and many of us don't want our site to look like other websites. That guy's content is about each helmet.

Be happy someone found a way to be successful and keep your eyes peeled for a way to find success for yourself.

I wish you the very best of luck!
Reply
I wasn't ranting I just come across as cynical to most.

the aluminum can thing was unnecessary, I know how consumerism works within a capitalist system, I was simply remarking upon my disdain for it for reasons that are better discussed in a different forum.

i understand we are here to capitalze on consumerism, im not so petty that i let my personal opinions dictate my actions, my being here in the first place i feel demonstrates that.

i wasn't "unhappy" that someone found success. i was noting somethin felt like it wasn't adding up between video and training. You can make a million totally different websites that all essentially perform the same functions and have no one the wiser if they got what they came for.

maybe they should of have showed the guys blog site first and how that lead him to make his NFL snack helmet site. I'm on lesson 8 and they still haven't shown a single working blog site with its affiliate market.

the video specifically says you CAN write about a niche you have no experience in when they where going through the baby gear and then makeup. They also give you WA as a niche if you cant think of one when they say to use the boot camp training which would be a niche the user knows nothing about at first but Im sure they pick it up as they go.

Todays american paradigm is uniformed consumers making irrational purcheses. just look at any car commercial. i get that, and as a salesman your told to capitalize on others trust, laziness, ignorance, emotional state, insecurities and anything else you can think of that can convince/influence someone to give you their money, like Listerine's Halitosis campaign in the early 1900s.

that being said i simply dont have enough consumer or life experience to blog about any kind of products and what i can blog doesnt have any related products that can be sold.

So i would have no choice but to choose a niche i dont have a background in.

Okay, so I wrote a blog within my niche. It was my very first one and to answer any reader, the answer is no, I haven't made any money with it. I haven't begun trying, but within my article (I'm old. I'm not fond of the word, Blog, so article works for me) I mentioned two very helpful products.

For the purposes of preserving business potential to any brand, I did not mention the brand of the product I wrote about because I believe it could be any brand of that product.

Now, I'm in the 3rd level of training and I'm starting to read about how to monetize this. So it looks like I can sign up with establishments that sell this item and get a special link to the product I'm promoting. I would link each of these items to that establishment with my special link information included and, if someone reading my article clicks it and buys one of the items I recommended, I will earn a small commission.

Ok, so maybe that part you understand, but, what I'm trying to say is that these two items are staple items. Let me just say for this reply that they are peanut butter and jelly.

You don't have to be a consumer of unnecessary items, but you may have a preferred brand of facial tissues you want to include a link to on your next article about holistic remedies for the common cold.

You don't have to sell yourself out, but there are things you use and perhaps there are brands that you are loyal to. If you can find a way to include these types of items in your writings, then you have the potential to make money from them.

As you know, even people who don't appreciate consumerism have to buy stuff. That's where you come in.

Sell them the stuff that they need.

For the record, I would also love to see good examples that are working at this level of training so I have a better idea of where I should be and what I should be doing, but as of yet, I don't see that it exists. They only thing I see is Kyle's example website in his videos. It is very fuzzy to me and pretty much useless to use as an example.

Now, as to your salesman training...I used to be a kirby vacuum salesman. I struggled and struggled hard to make my first sale. When I finally made my first sale, I was so happy! Then I never went back to work there again.

That whole taking advantage of insecurities is one thing, but creating those insecurities is quite another. Same for their emotional state. I felt like If I had to create a false emotion over a false insecurity to convince a low income person to part with $ for a vacuum cleaner she didn't need just so I could make a living, then I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

But what I can do here is different. I just say I use stuff that I use and link to it for other people to voluntarily help me earn money.

No dog and pony show...no calling the manager to ask if I can sell it at a price well above what I know I can sell it at...No BS.

Take care

Maybe you could gear your website toward raising awareness for those issues and the positive/neg impact on life & society? And link products made by companies they/you support?

Hi, I have exactly matched what you have done & tried it a few times & the changes do not appear on the site.
It shows a sample page, that I have deleted in the settings, no change it still shows up.
It appears that the site is not responding to any changes.
I have switched from Firefox to Chrome & it makes no difference.

Any advise would be much appreiated.

Hi guys, I'm now in lesson 9 in my training where I am searching for keywords. On the tasks section above it says to find a keyword with 30 avg searches and less than 100 competition. Can anybody give me minimum and maximum amount for the average searches, is 30 avg searches the minimum amount I should look for or is it the maximum? And if it is 30 as a minimum then what would be the maximum amount of searches I should look for? I'd greatly appreciate the help and I apologize if I sound like a lost puppy :)
Reply
smartketeer Premium
The higher the search average the better It means a bigger interest And there are no established values here Everything depends on your keyword phrase It could be 30 or 3,000
Reply
Okay I think I understand. So it's the QSR that needs to be lower (under 100)?
Reply
smartketeer Premium
The QSR is the number of your main competitors So yes, that should be as low as possible
Reply
So would now be the ideal time to upgrade to premium so i can access the QSR stats and lots of other features? I've been putting it off until I could distinguish the differences between standard and premium but now seems like the time. Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated.

Kyle, I would like to add a payment gateway on my website menu, though I am not able to create a PayPal business account without a social security number.

I would like to offer my students a reliable, safe way to make transactions. Direct bank transfer has too much percentage fee on international transfers and ruins the enterprise completely.

So, are there any options left for me?

Also once I'm finished with the training how can I change my domain to get rid of the". siterubix."

Finally on the privacy policy once I publisg it can I go back to at a later date and update the email?

Thanks

Hi Gina!

To change your post to a page, you'll have to copy and paste and create a new page. I'd just leave it if I was you - no harm. You can still add it to your Menu. This way you don't have to delete your post which may cause a "not found" error.

Further in the lessons, they show you how to transfer to a dot com. You'll have to purchase a domain name and then you'll be able to Move your site.

Re the Privacy Policy, yes publish it know, and you'll be able to edit it in WordPress at any point, just like all your other posts and pages. Remember to make this one a Page :)

Hi Friends in Website Marketing. I have been reading a lot of the comments and there are a lot of helpful questions and replys. I think in the process of choosing a niche it keeps coming back to me to think of what I have done when looking for an item or for information about something. Makes sense you should do this about something you like to maintain your interest, but according to the video that's not necessary. As for me, threat of homelessness is good enough motivation for me to do anything.

The demo video with the NFL snack helmets website also didn't have any blogs it looked like a simple website with organized menu/lists with simple descriptions of products all directing to amazon.

Are we not supposed to design websites with that "working" model in mind?

They certainly made a point to say you can learn about your niche as you write it when they where goin through the baby stuff and makeup.

though how would one blog about something they have no background/prior interest in, unless i suppose you read other peoples thoughts/opinions/experiences and blog vicariously through them.

I apologize if this sounded cynical, it was not intended.

Hi Kevin & welcome to Wealthy Affiliate!

Good question that has been asked by many before you -- it's vital to keep in mind that whatever your selected niche is interests you sufficiently in order to write about /blog about extensively, deeply, over an extended period of time to get to success ...

Having said that, in effect, it sounds like you've already answered your own question by going into a specific type of bike and all the associated accessories ... lots to discuss / talk about there and likely to engage a wide public audience of bike enthusiasts!

Go for it!

All the best to you for every success, cheerio ... 😊

I would definitely narrow it down a bit. Mountain bikes are all the rage around the world. You could talk about the various places that have great facilities etc. As well as bike types and gear. Just remember you have to love it well enough to be able to eventually write heaps of articles. Jim

By the way, is this a niche?
"Learn to sing from the heart".
Does a niche needs to be one word or short phrase...
Is there such thing as shorter or longer the better?

Hello Kelly

There is a difference between viewing the actual page source (view page source) and inspecting the DOM (document object model - inspect element, looking at the page).

The first method shows HTML exactly as it was fetched from the initial GET request, while the latter shows the "live" version of the page, which may include modifications made by JavaScript.

Hope you understand what I'm saying but if not then don't worry about it.

If you made the updates and actually clicked Update your site will be ok.

You kind of lost me, but thanks. Since I followed everything step by step, in order, I thought it should update in the View Page Source just as it did for Kyle in the video. Before that, everything was going smoothly. I want to proceed, but I don't want to mess something up. Someone suggested I customize my theme. I tried that and lost my original theme and can't seem to find it now. It's not in the Appearance, Themes section. That's not really important right now though. So is it not important that when I View Page source, the Home Title, Home Description and keywords that I updated in the All in One SEO don't show up? It just shows the Title and tagline that is in the general settings.

Another thing that am quite familiar with recently is playing my role as full time working mother. Breastfeeding, pumping, nursing, nursery rhyme songs, and story telling.

My own hobby before drawn into motherhood is dancing. Been learning ballet when young and picked up salsa and chacha social dance before. Not professional, but enjoyed the exercise.

Ok, so I was brainstorming ideas for what my "niche" could be all night last night (before I actually completed this lesson - yeah, my bad, should've followed the correct order). I found one that got me so excited I couldn't sleep and was cheery and chipper all day today. However, after watching the above video and reading through the rest of the lesson, I'm worried that the niche I had in mind may actually be too broad and not really a "niche" at all. So maybe you guys could help me out with this and provide me with some feedback?

I really wanted to make a business surrounding Science, but not limited to a single category. I already had ideas for blog/article posts within it and what products I could promote simply through amazon (ex: molecular compound jewelry, chemistry set cookware, kid friendly experiments, high end microscopes, etc etc.).

Do I need to find a different "niche" or some way to narrow it down? Or could "Science" work?

Any and all opinions, feedback, and advice would be super appreciative! Thanks everyone!

P.S. (Sorry it's so long a comment/question.)

Yes, it has so many sub-niches doesn't it?
Perhaps start with one particular subject and get this really done well and then perhaps down the track you can branch into more areas
When you choose your domain name make sure it is relevant to the whole subject if you can and go for a. com name as well
I am excited for you as well and look forward to hearing how you get on

No chugging of beer during any of the training, but that might be a good idea. I just don't want to get into a situation where I am slurring my words lol.

Thanks for the feedback though Angela and I am really glad you are enjoying the training. :)

Great Training! The question of Niche selection can be elusive if you over think it.
The video provides good clarity and eradicates misconceptions so niche site builders can move forward.
I liken this to a Rabbit hole technique that helps you dig deeper to keep expanding different levels of a topic or theme. Every talk helps. Thanks!

Yeah, lots of people definitely overthink the idea of a niche and fall into the big rabbit hole.

A niche can honestly be anything, what are you passionate about? What are you interested in?

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

Hello. I got stuck with choosing my niche. I have some ideas and interest like travel, home decor, fashion, health and online marketing. I already excluded some options. I am not in the position right now where I can afford to travel around so this is clearly out, fashion I think is also very saturated place so I am not sure about that. With health I am mostly interested on topics like having trouble sleeping and personal growth. But I feel that this could be very overwhelming for me as a beginner. I don’t have problem with researching this areas, but I feel I could get stuck with writing articles. My English is not good yet, it is not my first language so I have to work on that as well, plus all the courses and new exciting things that I have to learn about affiliate marketing. I am not an expert on any of these area either so it would be more like learn on the way process. With all that said I was thinking to choose something where I can do combination of articles and product listing. I came to the idea of wooden home decor? I would like to hear your feedback about wooden home decor niche. I did give you the inside of how I am thinking because I am completely open to hear your opinion about that as well. This is totally new for me. So I would like to know if I am on the right track.

I did research on wooden home decor keywords in Jaaxy and this is where I got completely confused. I did read an article where it says that you should choose a niche that has at least 1000 monthly searches and no more than 100 QSR. With wooden home decor there are only 112 searches and QSR is 102. Seeing this numbers I would say that this is not really good niche, am I right? Am I using the phrases wrong, or did I interpreted this numbers wrong. At some point I was even thinking that this may be too wide niche? Any feedback and help would be appreciated.

I was planning to post that in to my questions section on my profile but I don’t know how? Is that only available for premium members?

I apologize for being so long.

Best Regards, Sintija.

Hi Sintija,

You have asked a LOT of question in one comment so let me see if I can tackle it all.

Firstly, your English is absolutely fine. If you're able to write that long comment, then you're good. Writing for this business is just like the way you're writing above, need not to be fancy or formal, just conversational.

When picking a niche, you don't have to feel you need to be an expert. You also don't need to be actually doing the actual activity like traveling.

You're also not product listing in your business, that is not affiliate marketing.

Always pick something you really like to work on, any of your ideas you mentioned above like travel and fashion needs to be narrowed way down to make it work.

For travel - a specific type of traveling, or area.

Fashion - i.e. organic cotton clothes for newborns or corporate wear or formal wear.

Wooden home decor niche - Great one because it's specific, wooden types of furniture or other decor.

Having trouble sleeping is a great niche because this is a PROBLEM that people have that you can HELP THEM SOLVE..... THIS is the essence of affiliate marketing.

Stick with niches you have interests or passions with because you'll be working on it day in day out, so make sure it's something you like or research about.

You could also start a site to journalize your progress if you don't know a niche well enough. Everyone starts somewhere and if you can find something you can help others with then that would be a great niche.

Here are some other tutorials that will help you: You can also go on Amazon.com to get ideas from their categories as well, each one of their sub-categories could be a great idea for a niche.

Also, I recommend using a free site first instead of buying a custom domain until you feel comfortable keeping the niche you picked. This way you can delete and start over without the extra $15 expense for another custom domain.

It's really easy here to transfer a free site to your own domain later on.

Another aspect you may want to think about is the price point of the products you'll be recommending in your niche.

The work is the same whether you promote a $5 product or a $500 product, make it worth your while. ;)

You want to build an online business where your site will be the bridge that connects people who are searching for things to the things they are searching for.

Like my website is all about making money online, I'm helping people find a great training platform and other ways if they choose different route other than WA.

If you have it in your mind to help others in your niche, then you will have a thriving business.

About keywords:

You basically find keywords with:

AVG > 100
QSR < 50

For me, those are the ideal criteria to look for in any keywords.

So to get that kind of keyword, yes, it's usually a phrase.

You will find as many keywords as you can.

Each post you write will be tackling only ONE of these keywords on your list.

sample "how to train a dog to sit"

Then you will incorporate that phrase in your title, first paragraph, and then once again near the end of your post.

Title: "3 Easy Steps: How To Train A Dog To Sit" - Always add to the title to make it enticing and reason why people should click on YOUR post on their results page.

First paragraph (within first 160 characters):
"When first getting a new puppy, you will want to learn how to train a dog to sit when he or she is 2 - 4 months old.

I have 3 easy steps below that I'm going to go through with you so you can teach your new puppy...."

Body: anything you want.

Last section of post somewhere:

"If you have learned how to train your dog to sit, then please comment below and let me know of your results!" - or something else, anything that will bring that keyword back into your article.

When researching keywords you need to beware of Stop Words like "what is" "how to" and words like "in" "a" "on".

Those words don't really count and if you see another keyword with same AVG but higher QSR and without those stop words, then that keyword is the true QSR.

For example "what is commission junction" and "commission junction" are the similar AVG but the true keyword is "commission junction" which will have a much higher QSR than "what is commission junction".

Sometimes you may also need to be more creative in your keywords if the product name you're promoting does not have any good keywords, you could work around that and think of why a person would need this product.

So instead of using product name keywords, you could also look at keywords like "how to cure...." or "natural remedy for..." whatever your product can do/improve for people, and so that's more keywords you could use.

You have to put yourself into the mindset of the person doing that search and figure out what a person that needs the information you're offering would search for.

----

I hope I didn't overwhelm you but some of the keyword info may not make sense until you get to those lessons but I offered it here because you are using as your niche research.

Please ask me any questions! :)

You're very welcome. One thing I didn't answer is how you get help.

The best way to get help from the whole community is by using "Ask A Question" in your Help Center on left menu.

Asking questions like you have under the lesson is good too.

You could ask it on my profile or your profile as well, you just go on either profile and underneath "Accomplishments" you'll see a comment box to type in.

I see all the questions you ask on the platform (because you're my referral), so if someone else gets to your question first, I always still review their answers to make sure you got the right info. So if you ask a question, and you don't hear from me, it's because someone else answered it correctly.

You're in good hands with me. :)

Grace

PS - start only one niche, not two or three or four or more. :)

I understand from the lesson why you recommend choosing post vs page for the About Me, but most of my most preferred websites have an about me page. From a user standpoint, I often check that page first so I can understand at least a big picture about the site and/,or author. If at a later time it makes more sense to have it as a page is it to switch or would I have to rewrite it?
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yes you could copy and paste it into a page if you wanted, there would be no benefit to that.

A post and a page are the same thing, the only difference is that a post snippet is added to your blog roll after you create it.

Pages typically go to your menu by default, but you can override that with custom menus (which can include pages and posts).

I typically create my initial framework of my website (first 5-10) as pages, then after that I create only posts. Posts are beneficial for rankings because they do go to your blog roll which makes your website look current to Google (good for SEO) as well as your audience.

Hope this helps.

The niche I would like to work with is vegan or cruelty free products. My question is, should I narrow that down even further to become, vegan makeup or vegan household cleaning products for example? Or for this particular one is it okay to include all products that support the cruelty free lifestyle?

Thanks so much!
Reply
CravenATAT Premium
Narrowing it down can help tremendously. If you were to create a domain that related to vegan/cruelty free products and specialize in make up it can work. Over time (if you were to run out of what to promote or write about regarding makeup), your domain name will be broad enough to slowly bring in cleaning products. That is just my opinion but I have seen it work (for a different niche).

HI - I would stick with the vegan make up or vegan household products because not everyone will appreciate the cruelty free lifestyle so better to keep it generic until you are established and then you can quietly introduce it - that way people will have gained trust in you and the products and will much more likely to listen to you when you start talking about the cruelty free lifestyle

Hello Alfred and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.
Mens clothing in general is very broad. You can narrow it down to let's say mens designer shirts which has less competition and really good traffic.
You can be an affiliate of any of the brands you listed, as long as they have affiliates and accept you once your website is ready.

I hope this helps : )

Hello Unate. You are having quite a few issues aren't you.
For you privacy policy, I would suggest deleting it and starting all over.
Here is a link that will help to ensure you add the updated one as well as help you to set it p. Here is a link that will assist you on setting up the plugin that you will also need. Please be kind and at least click on the like button for each link. Loes and Marion did us members a huge favor by creating this training.
As for seeing the comment section that is an easy fix.
While you are in your back office in WordPress, click on pages.

If you hover over the privacy page, you will see edit, quick edit, click on quick edit.

To the far right you will see allow comments with a check in the box. Click on the box and this will remove the check from the box.

Social media icons: are you wanting them removed completely or moved to a different location?

Later down the road you will want them. You will be sharing your post/pages on social media to help get free traffic.

The social media icons will make it a much easier process allowing you to so it straight from your website.

I hope this has helped : )

In there you will learn the answers to some of your questions. The rest will be answered if you find the platform to be what it promises to be and that is a complete guide that will answer all the questions you just asked and so, so many more if you upgrade at a later date.

Hello Kyle,
I'm working my way through lesson three now, and having a very difficult time incorporating my Amazon affiliate link into my post. To the best of my knowledge, I'm following the video instructions exactly, but I am not getting the desired outcome.
I would attempt to explain but the jist of all this is that it's all just a big mess. As best I can understand the directions that Amazon gives, the HTML code has to be incorporated into the HTML code of my website. I don't think this is correct. That's certainly not how it was done in the video. I honestly don't know how I can achieve the desired results by communicating by chat; it almost seems as though I need a telephone conversation. I must be mistaken; this just can't be that difficult. I don't know if you can see my website, but there's a post relating to my "harmonica dilemma". At the end of this article I would like to post the link to Amazon to purchase the entire harmonica set which is my solution to the dilemma. So far, this is a failure.
Whatever you can do to help would be greatly appreciated; there are other things I need to tidy up upon, but I can't go much farther until I resolve this issue.
Thanks, William

I found the easiest way is to use the Site Stripe function.

Kinda ignore the Amazon affiliate area, and find a product you want to promote. At the top of the page is a toolbar called Site Stripe. There you can click on text or image and it will give you the direct link that you can use.

If you have no Site Stripe bar - you may have to turn it on in the Associates area under Tools I think it is.

If I want to use the image, I change my WP editor to Text and paste the html there.

If I'm using a text link, I stay in Visual editor and just change my call to action text to a hyperlink.

Does this help?

You find it on Amazon and in the Associates area. This is the only way to get images off Amazon too :/

Who would have thought picking a niche would be so complicated..I have many passions. My question is hard to word just right but I am basically wondering if you can find good affiliate programs in them all. I know research is involved and I am prepared to do whatever it takes. I guess I'm asking if you can find programs on ideas or niches such as writing, art and poetry? Thanks for your time and sorry for the long, confusing question.

The short ANSWER is YES! You will have to set up a payment method at some time. I use PayPal, but if you want to locate Affiliate Sales, use ClickBank and it is connected with JV. ClickBank is a one-stop shop. but some of these programs take a percent like 3% or 5%, I am not sure. PayPal does not. (At least they didn't).
ClickBank also sets the Return/Refund Policies on sales through them. It used to be 30 days no questions asked full return. Now it is 60 days.
Before you take that on you REALLY need to become a Premium Member and get through the Training That's there for a good reason.

Afterthought. The reason the Kyle and Carson and the whole Community wants to help you find your own Niche is that it is a tough part of the learning process. If you don't do it you will be back on the treadmill that has failed you in the past. Do all they teach you yourself. If you just jump to a single affiliate then you have lost learning. Go through the Process. It is a "Pathway" to Success.

Hello Paulette and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate. That question isn't confusing at all.

As you progress through the training you will gain more knowledge on affiliate marketing.

There are affiliates to everything you can imagine. I wouldn't choose a niche based on an affiliate program though.

You will definitely want your niche to be something that you are passionate/knowledgeable enough about that you will be able to write quality content on constantly.

You will need to write about it a lot in the first few months and you don't want to get bored with it or run out of things to write about.

Even if your niche is something you wish to learn more about, you can do research on it and still write quality content.

You got this : )

Deciding on a niche was hard for me also. I decided to focus on which niche should I start first, instead of which niche should I pick.

Reading what you wrote, you mentioned more about more about music than the other subjects.

I think you have a lot of knowledge. I watched a YouTube video from Benjisdad.com, about having enough knowledge and it was helpful. He said you don't have to know everything about a topic; if you are one chapter ahead of someone that is brand new you can give them advice and help them out.

Hope this is helpful.

Hello DavidO1,

If I may offer a suggestion regarding your decision on a niche. As you seem to have a few to choose from, ask yourself this question - Which niche could I deliver a 30 minute talk on right now? - If you have a subject that you can do that with then the transition to writing about it will be easier.
It works for me.

wish you well in your endeavours.

Hi everyone, I'm just starting here, and viewing the video How To Make Money Online. There is no mention of the use of a funnel to get email addresses to retarget. Is a funnel just left out of the discussion or does it not work well with the way this platform is setup? Thanks

I could use some advice. For my website/business name, I chose to create a word. Naturally, I want to write an article to explain what it means and what the business is all about. Should this be a separate post from my about me page? And... is it a bad idea to choose a made up word for my business name?

Depends on how hard it is to spell/say. If it’s not phonetic, people may struggle.
I’d include it in the ‘about’ section at least. You could also do a blog explaining it more if you like.
Reply
GuyW1 Premium
I am wondering why you had to create a 'word' for your business/website? I agree with ShaneWB regarding how hard it is to say or spell as that may be difficult to explain or reason.
Reply
JubiJoy Premium
I don't think spelling or pronunciation will be an issue. And I created the word because I was having a hard time finding a word that already exists that encompasses the idea. Every phrase I came up with either sounded dumb or could easily be interpreted to mean something in which I did not intend.

I've read that having any other website that has anything other than ".com" or whatever isn't a good thing. People don't trust free sites. If that's the case, do people actually make something happen with the free domain on WA? Or is buying a domain the best way to go? With this being my first website to build, Let's be honest, we're all on this thing to make money. I don't really want to waste my time with domains people don't trust.
Reply

Buying a domain is the best way to go. It’s a lot more professional looking and is pretty much a piece of virtual real estate. Success can still come from free websites as long as it provides useful information and high quality content. Consistency is key.

Lets say that you have created a website based on a niche of your choosing. Things aren't going as planned and you want to choose a new niche. Do you have to create a new website based on the new niche of your choosing, or can you change the website around to fit the new niche of your liking?
Reply
LeeMcQuay Premium
Hello Charles : )
Keep in mind that this is your first website and you may run into that circumstance.
The answer to that will really depend on where you are at with your website. How much content you have on it and if it is with a free domain or a purchased domain.

It will also depend on what your second niche will be. Will it match the url name?
If you are using a free domain you can always delete it and start a new one if you haven't added content.
If you have content on it that pertains to your new niche, then you can copy the content and add it to your new website.

If you purchase a domain you can not change the name of it. Use the free one until you are certain that you are happy with the niche you have chosen and have started writing content. Use it as a practice site.

I hope this was useful.

I really enjoy watching your videos. WA provides an easy to follow path toward success potential that I have not found in any other programs.

One of my questions was answered in the video, and that was whether to do one or both training programs.

My other question is that I already belong to several affiliate programs and I want to maximize potential from them. Should I focus on one business and niche now, and then build the other programs, or can I use what I'm learning to build the other programs?
Reply

You can use multiple affiliates on your site if they are relevant to the topic of your site. You won't want to promote things that are not relevant to your content.

You can certainly use the training here to promote other products than WA.
Reply

Both methods are possible. I usually try to focus on one affiliate program, or multiple affiliate programs in one affiliate network. For example, you can promote products form several programs within Shareasale, and get paid all at once from them.

But really, it's up to you, and how you want to publish your content.

Hi everyone, I have been discussing this in chat. Here the comments I made on chat.

Should we not use prepositions or adverbs in our keyword phrases? Like, "Buying flowers for the House", Or does it matter as long as we have good content to go with the keyword phrase?

Without some stop words like adverbs or prepositions, the phrase doesn't make grammatical sense. From the training, I thought the phrases need to make grammatical sense. For the example, I used " Buying flowers for the House" makes more grammatical sense than "Buying flowers house"

Yea, someone told me to not use adverbs or prepositions because it doesn't associate with any meaningful content. I felt confused because according to level 1: lesson 9: Rule 3: Rule #3: Keyword must make sense. This is critically important. If the keyword doesn't make grammatical sense, don't use it. Do another search on the keyword that makes sense as that will likely give you different data and that is the data you want to measure. I just want to make sure I am doing everything I can to make this work. thanks everyone, johnny

I just want to make sure I do this correctly.
I appreciate any and all advice or tips.

Hello Johnny.
Since keywords are the word or phrase that are typed in, to perform a search on what you are looking for, I don't think someone would type in "Buying flowers for the house ".
This can mean many things. You want to be specific.
What is it that you are helping your reader with?
Are you giving them tips on how to choose flowers for the house?
Grammatical sense and what Kyle teaches, is correct. Like you said "buying flowers for house" is not grammatically correct. I would suggest " Tips for buying flowers for the house"or " how to choose flowers for your home". You want to give the person doing the search, what they are looking for.
I hope this makes sense : )

I see what you mean, but the keyword phrases you have suggested still has stop words in it like, "How to or for the". I do see what you mean by adding "Tips for or how to" making it more specific, but it is still using stop words. Thanks for your help.

Hi Billy, I went to that link and it was very helpful. For me and that is just me, I think to make a keyword phrase make grammatical sense makes more sense than just throwing some words together. It sounds like either way works as far as getting ranked. I was worried that I was doing something wrong and it might affect my getting ranked by Google. Thanks for you help Billy.

I have a question if you wouldn't mind sparing this insight. I am caught up on picking a niche (big surprise). I can think of a million niches off the top of my head, coasters, dog leashes, oven mitts, and the list goes on and on. However these aren't things I am particularly interested in. My biggest love in this world is music, and this is where I fall short. I am not technically savvy to talk about musical hardware and such. I guess my biggest question is what is the actual application of the "niche". If I am to review products, wouldn't that mean I would have to own said products? Let's say I found my niche, how am I to use this in my website. If I understood more about this I imagine picking a niche would be much less daunting.

what you are looking for is a group of people with a problem, ideally passionate people.
so anything you know about that others are passionate about and have problems with - if people say ' i wish i had_____' then this could be your niche.
what you are after is to help people decide on how to solve their problem. be it how to choose a dog leash, waist leash, standard leash - which type of collar- chocker or fixed, harness or collar.
so you can see there are a few info types of articles there and the reviews - well , do you have manmade leash, leather, how do you look after it etc.
but the main topic is how can i keep my dog safe and control it. who are you looking at? male 20-40, likes to go out walking with dog, enjoys talking to others when out - goes to the dog park
get to konw your audience very well then you can talk to them.
write it all down and read through it before writing your article- talk to him before you start writing -warm yoursell up.
good luck

Hi RexKwondo,

Good work getting started. Having a interest and passion for your Niche is important. You will be spending a LOT of time creating content. (Incidentally, I have been a professional musiian for most of my adult life. Good choice!) To address your thoughts.

A niche like Music is much deeper than "dog leashes" however it is also very broad so consider narrowing to a more narrow category or genre within music i.e. Classical guitar, or folk music, or brass band instruments... the list is endless, but will make ranking and targeting your audience Much easier.

Not tech savvy: That's ok. Other people are and they have written a lot of content. Do your research and Re-write articles with your words personality and understanding you have gained.

Application of the Niche: One of the goals of this process is to become a valuable resource on the internet for people searching for keywords specific to your Niche. The application is in providing accurate and quality engaging content for your readers. Depending on the products you promote. A lot of research can be done at a large music store. If you live in or can get to a large music store, many of them have small practice rooms where you can try out different instruments and hardware. this is a great waty to learn about physical products and even record videos of them while at the store.

Your website is your Niche and your niche is your website. A very focused topic or set of topics that will provide value to the People who have interests you are targeting. The Narrower your niche/target is, the more precisely you can tailor your content to appeal to that group of people.

I hope this helps!

Feel free to ask more questions. And Never give up!

Cheers!

I have finished phase one of training. I understand how money is made and the domains and all that but one thing is still confusing me. My niche represents hundreds if not thousands of products. Do I need to list many of these on my own website or can I just direct customers to the companies I affiliate with where they can see all the products there without a huge website of my own? Do I need a website with many pages and posts? Or can I, just through writing content, be the avenue for which people find the different companies?
Reply
CravenATAT Premium
You can be the avenue- but if the niche is extremely broad, then it will be harder to get a targeted audience. For instance, 'health care' is broad, but veterans with mental disabilities is a bit more broad. If you want to narrow it down a bit more you can, although if you go broad you can target specific affiliates - you don't have to target them all.
Reply
Jeff909 Premium
My niche is actually specifically directed at a single audience with a lot of products. Everyone will be there for exactly the same reason so that's not the issue - the product line is extensive, but the audience will only be musicians.

You can target whichever products you decide on, you don't have to promote them all. The benefit of it being your site and your niche is you get to choose what you want to promote.

Hello Will and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.
Have you clicked on "publish" in SiteContent yet?

Once you click publish there there will be a box that appears. If you click, "edit in WordPress" that is where you will find noindex and nofollow. just scroll all the way sown and you will see it.

if you exited that box without going to WordPress, just look to your left and click on websites.

Click on SiteManager and click login. Once you get into the dashboard, click on pages.
This will bring up your privacy policy. Once you have your policy pulled up, just scroll down to the bottom and they will be there.

Once you have checked noindex nofollow, be sure to click update/save and the refresh your browser.

Interview one expert from the multidiscipline and the other from the drugs and devices and then it would seem to me that the people that would be the best to answer theses questions would be the patients who have benefited from a combination of both and they can explain their journey from traditional, to natural, to anything else and finally getting relief from a combination of your two interests.

Your niche could be travel, absolutely! It is a broad topic, but who cares! You can do what you want. Just make sure it's something you're passionate about and can see yourself writing about daily. Or, be more specific. Like, where was the most amazing place you've ever visited? Let's say it was Italy. You could choose Italy travel as a niche. Or Mediterranean travel. Something more specific like that. Your only limit is your imagination.

When we do a keyword search for our niche, and we find five good matches of keywords. Do we write posts for each keyword we use on our website?
Also, if I use a keyword (QSR-under 100, traffic over 40) like "basketball shoes", but when I write my post, I make the title "basketball shoes: the cost" has this basically changed my keyword when searched for by people? If the keyword phrase "basketball shoes: the cost" is ranked number one, do people have to type it just that way is titled to see the post.

I'm been off and on because I have a full time job that I'm planning to resign and commit to my online venture. As soon as I finish my training and get my website up and running and hopefully by the end of this year or the beginning of the new year I should be my own boss...What I need is time, patience and a good Niche.

Hello WA-ites!
I'm about 2 days old in the community, still working through training and I'm about to build my site. Lot's of questions going through my head but, the immediate one is, what is a realistic expectation for a site to start showing some income. I don't mean to sound like a cheapskate, but I'm a dreamer and a doer and unfortunately, some of my ventures have cost me money and I have not had positive financial results. I'm a bit limited right now and I need to plan. Suggestions and your experience is much appreciated!

why don't you recommend to follow both courses? The online entrepreneur and the Affiliate bootcamp. I would like to take them both and then decide what I do, but I was surprised to hear on the first video that they do not recommend to follow both programs. Can someone tell me why?

Hello Alejandra.
The certification course is set up to teach you how to set up your own website/online business in order to promote products that pertain to your niche. Whether it is arts and crafts, cooking, electronics etc.
Bootcamp is set up to teach you how to promote Wealthy Affiliate.
You can take them bot as a premium member. It is recommended
that you start with certification so that your not getting the two mixed up.
There are task that you will perform. Some will coincide with both courses, but not all of them will.

I hope this helps.
Wishing you the best in all you do

So I'm thinking of picking something to do with music production. Like plug ins or midi controllers etc. Thing about this is obviously music equipment is costly even in today's world. $300 is still $300 regardless if it was quadruple that 2 decades ago. I'm confused on being able to do this without having used a product. How do I write about something I've never used? Maybe I havent gotten that far in the training yet though.

You can check out this link: I'm creating a website with reviewing the product that I've never used and buy. After I found this WA blog post, I know what to do.

Take a look at Jerry Huang website for more information and idea.

I have to confes that I am confused about finding the right niche.
Could the niche be an online store front? I have a website that someone else created for me by using "Go Daddy". It is not perfect by any means. I have no google ranking what-so-ever and therefore it does not bring me any clients. The website is a wedding/event flower business that I was hoping to get going.
Is it possible to build a website for a local wedding/event business?
Reply
Karin13 Premium
Anything is possible. You may want to narrow the focus to just weddings or a specific thing for weddings.

I suggest reading this excellent post by Kyle about succeeding with a small niche and scaling (growing it larger) it! Best wishes,
Karin :)

Perfect - I was thinking along those lies myself adding to my anti ageing, oils, fitness etc. There is so much you can do with a site like that - hair, accessories. Wonderful and I would simply transfer your your hosting from Go Daddy to here and start working on that website. If there is anything I can do to help please feel free to ask. I also had a florist shop at one stage and did a lot of weddings. I would go to ali baba, ali express, ebay, amazon and etsy and see what is trending in the wedding industry and also check out the hot sellers in that niche and you will soon have so many ideas flowing through your head and it will give you a good idea where you want to start and do not be afraid of expensive items - the dearer the item the more commission and people are paying zillions to get their wedding just the way they want it

Hey Leila, welcome to WA.
thinking about a niche is like thinking about what i would like to help people with. you can then find products to solve problems within that niche.
in a way you are lucky - you already have a site with a niche.
with that niche you can stay local to where you are or go global and try helping people around the world.
one problem i see going global is the different meanings of flowers and cultural differences.
staying local or at least within country will expand on what you do locally and you could target a large number of local towns - jay has special training on local seo.
so you have a head start over a lot of people, or you could choose a different niche to learn the business system here and then go back and redo your wedding event flower business.
write down exactly what you want to do and achive - this way you have something to aim at.
good luck

As I understand it, Leila, Google has search engine optimizations that are aimed at improving your search engine results specifically for your local market. I have never pursued it because I am not doing a brick and mortar business as I have done in the past, but I do believe that Google has a protocol for finding customers local to you.

One of the results for the search string 'using google to find customers in your local area' gave a link entitled 'Improve your local ranking on Google.'

Not for sure either will apply specifically to your situation but the part about 'build a website for a local wedding/event business' makes me think it might help.

Best Regards,

Tim

From the training we were told to pick a niche that we are passionate about. What if your passion is a type of dance. Like I was thinking about making a site that focusses on a particular type of dance. How can I make money from my site if I don't have tangible products to offer.
Reply
LeeMcQuay Premium
Hello my friend.
That would be a great niche.
Dance instruction would be really good. You might want to narrow it down just a little.

As for products, you can promote clothes, shoes the type of music that the type of dance is performed to.

I think your products that you can promote would be huge.
I hope this helps : )

Anything is possible. There are people all over the world and we all have different hobbies etc. I think you can do well with your dance niche. There are clothes to promote, lessons, trinkets and that sort of thing. I would go to ali Baba, or Ali Express, Ebay, Etsy or even Amazon and see what is trending in your niche. Also check out what their Hot Sellers are and that will help you decide which way to go
Hope that helps

Hello iniidiong, I think that your tangible products is like dancing shoes, dancing dresses etc., but not a dancer. You can pick one of them from Amazon. I agree with LeeMcQuay.

Seeing how you just joined I would suggest you follow at least the beginning of the training in order. Within a day to a day and a half, the training will have you set up your first website. I am glad to see you are eager enough to jump right in, but do it the way WA has it laid out for you.
If you are serious, and I will tell you this is the REAL DEAL then get your Premium Membership as you have some serious handicaps picking a theme, and other things without it.

I will add you as a FOLLOW and ask you do the same for me. If I can help just let me know. I wish you all the luck on moving on. Please add me to you.

I understand I have been in and ripped off by several Inter Mark Programs, I know how you feel as I am falling back on old tools however that may mess up HOW I get connected to the servers. Follow the training at least through 5. You do that you should be able to set up without issue. If you jump around people here that could help you cannot as they get lost too. Just suffer through what you already know as it will help you in the end.
I would not tell you this unless I know this to work. If you follow the program they have things like SEO and other important issues taken care of. You will get traffic from your ranking in the SEO right off and it will start your making money. Work through section 5 of the Training anyway to see what I mean, work the programs in order.

Get your Premium as it opens several other doors to you.

You and I are in that exact same Boat. Make money easier and repeatedly. I would really be happy with another $250.00 to $500.00 a Month. No Taxes. But I know you can make way more in this business and it is a lot more fun. It's GREAT to make money and enjoy it!! It's just me here by myself. I am looking forward to the Austrailia Trip that I always wanted now that a Friend I made here at WAU told me I could still go with a 3-Month Visa.

This may be a silly questions but once your website is up and running if someone buys something how do you get the % you earn? Do you have to connect your bank account or do they send a check? How often do you get paid?
Thanks for any help. I am familiar with the whole how behind affiliates but I am interested in learning the nitty gritty.
Reply
feigner Premium
all of these details will vary affiliate program to affiliate program.
read the terms and conditions.
here for instance the affiliate program pays monthly and pays a hefty percentage of the monthly premium.
you also need to look at the lifetime of the cookie which brought the visitor to the sales site.
here, again , is very good and is a lifetime cookie, the last person they clicked through before coming here is the one who gets the commission.
you can find the info for here under the dollar symbol at the top and clicking on the program details.
amazon, for example pay up to 10% and pay two months behind. you can have cheque, voucher or pay to an account.
so as you can see it does vary a lot - check the terms and conditions.
good luck

You sign up for each affiliate program, and part of the process is linking a bank account or PayPal email. Each person that buys through your affiliate link is tracked as your referral, and you will therefore get paid a commission.

Every affiliate program is different in terms of payment method, how often you get paid, etc. You'll just have to read the terms for each one before applying. As for Wealthy Affiliate, since you are a member, you are already signed up with the WA affiliate program and your affiliate link can be found on your profile.

Myself and a colleague are both very much into military history especially WW1 and family history. Can I use WA to launch the website for this. I've already written the intros, services provided etc. I also want to do the boot camp so would you recommend boot camp first then come back to complete the OEC and launch the website or vice versa? Your views, comments would be greatly appreciated.

WV will help you setup your blog site for social media presence and advertising. For your personal website where you would be selling you products, you must buy an outside domain for a website. Either way, WA is a great investment, it sums up what's needed for a blog site that you would eventually end up setting up.

Hi Guy,

You want to first complete the OEC. None of us can properly sell new affiliates on Wealthy Affiliate if we don't understand Wealthy Affiliate and how to use it. After you have a successful site, then you should be ready to tackle Affiliate Bootcamp.

I wish you success here at Wealthy Affiliate and with your online business.

Hello Guy and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.
I think the niche you are choosing is awesome.

You do want to narrow it down a bit though.
What is it about the war that you are most fascinated with?

You can use Jaaxy and Google to help you narrow it down and Jaaxy will also show you how much competition it has.

You can definitely use WA. If you were to go premium, you will get 25 free (sub) domains and 25 purchased domains that you can have hosted here with security, to build websites on, at no extra cost.

I would do the certification course first and then go through bootcamp.

You want to get your site up and ready to promote products. Your site need to be established before promoting products.

I hope this helps my friend : )

Hi Lee Ann,
Thank you so much for your insight and advice. You have made me think about my strategy here and maybe I should concentrate on one particular campaign or Battalion to start with. If that works then it could be broadened out to include more campaigns etc.

Thanks again

You are most welcome my friend.
While deciding on which one you want to start with, I would check out other sites that are in the same niche.

You can look to see what they are building their site on, see if there is something that you think they might be missing.

You can get a lot of ideas by researching others sites and reading their comments.

The comments their readers are asking can give you some insight as to what they want to know about the war etc.

You have chosen a great niche and I know you will help others with what you share on your website.

I would love to know when you have created some content on it.
Wishing you the best in all you do

I have decided on my niche. I'm going with my original idea of musical instruments, gear and accessories. It's what I'm most comfortable with and there are many big ticket items associated with the music world. I will also have a daily "Music Milestone" blog and my website will be sleek and simple to use without all the clutter. All I want to do is give people a simple way to get to the companies I'll be promoting for the products they want without the usual distractions.

As far as my niche goes, one of my big interests is concealed handgun carry or even everyday carry (EDC). I am not a wacko gun-toting weirdo, but I live in an area where carrying a handgun makes good sense. It is popular and I think it would work for me. But is it too broad of a niche? Should I narrow it down? What are your thoughts?

Hello Larry;
In todays world, I can't blame you for wanting to carry. Depending on what State you live in. I'm in NY, and cannot carry but do hunt and fish. Wishing you all the best.

Hi. In my mind it makes sense to know how to operate a gun, and know everything about that particular gun that you carry. I see a not too broad niche, as the laws are such to keep it narrow. There are enough kinds of legal guns and accessories to use with those guns and subject matter to support a niche. My thoughts are to learn all of your state laws and branch out if you choose. Weapons have been around since creation and our creator has something to say about them as guidances.
