NICHES. The scariest word for most people when starting out. However, the idea of a niche should not scare you. Instead it should be exciting.

What is a Niche?

A niche is a distinct segment of a market, in other words an "audience".

When choosing a niche that fits you, you should be choosing something that is ideally an interest, a passion, a hobby, but it could be something that you would like to learn about. You don't need to BE an expert, you BECOME an expert.

I personally enjoy many different things. I enjoy basketball, I used to collect baseball cards, I like to go skiing, I am really interested in men's fashion, exercise, internet marketing, and I love everything about the online business world.

There are also many niches over the years that I have been very successful within without knowing anything about them before getting into them. Dieting, voice over IP, hosting...are just a few.

Almost anything you can think of is a niche and that is why we are going to get you to choose YOUR niche based on things that you are interested in. You can earn money online from absolutely every single niche because there are billions of people out there searching for information, for solutions, and spending billions of dollars or products/services every day.

The idea of a niche can be a little confusing at first, so I have created a video walk-through for this lesson that is going to walk you through what a niche is, how you earn money through a niche, and I will get you choosing your initial direction online.

Check out the video below.

DISCUSS THIS VIDEO HERE: Choosing Your Direction - It Starts With a Niche!

Your online business should not feel like a day job. Earning money online should be fun, and it is fun. This all starts with choosing a niche that you are interested in and will enjoy working with.

The MORE you enjoy doing something the LESS it feels like a job and the more productive you are going to be. Carson and I are immensely passionate about online business and teaching people how to make money online, so that is the niche we have chosen with Wealthy Affiliate.

Your niche could be anything, but at the core of your niche selection it should be something that you "like". Something you enjoy. Something you can talk about. Something you want to learn about.

Task 1: Choose Your Direction

We want you to select the niche that interests you most and gets you the most excited.

A few things that you should understand about niches are:

(1) You are going to be writing content within your niche
(2) You are going to be communicating within your niche
(3) You are going to be choosing products to promote within your niche
(4) You are going to get to help people within your niche.
(5) Your first niche PROBABLY won't be your last (so don't worry about it being perfect)
(6) Any SINGLE niche website can become a "full time" income/business

There is NO SUCH THING as choosing the wrong niche.

Also, note that you can always change your niche down the road. Just because you are choosing a niche now does not mean you will be in this particular niche forever. Either way, please do not spend a week choosing your niche. Within the next 15-30 minutes (maximum) you should have your "starting point" niche chosen.

If you have any questions about your niche, feel free to leave a question below and we will help you out.

If you are REALLY STUCK at this point and you cannot decide on a niche, perhaps you may be interested in the make money/affiliate marketing niche. If you don't have a niche at this point, this will be your niche and we have an Affiliate Bootcamp dedicated to those that are interested in promoting Wealthy Affiliate.

==> Go here if that is you.

Onto the next lesson, building a website! Exciting stuff is ahead! :)

Hello! I feel like I might have missed a step in the "niche" section. When they mentioned picking a niche, did that involve actually choosing a product or is the product chosen later on? I was confused because I am supposed to be describing what my website it about and I don't have a specific product.
Reply
adreyna Premium
You will want to pick your niche first, and you will learn how to monetize it later. You don't necessarily need a product right away to describe what your website is about, but rather you'll be working on creating content first. As you continue with the training, you will find out more about adding products.

Hello Catherine and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.
What Adreyna says is true.
Your "about me" can be what your website is about or it can be about you.
If you want it to be about your website, then you can let your readers know what you want to achieve with your website.
Who are you trying to help?
If your niche is something that you are passionate about, you can include that, or if you are experienced in the niche you chose, you can include that.
It is really about why you chose the ones you want to help.

I hope this made sense.

Your niche is what your site will be about. The products will come later when you are writing content.
Does that help?

Hi guys, this is my second day with WA. I am on the stage which I am creating a content. I am done with my post About Me. I used on the template that has already been created. On the training video and on the actual template, is different. Currently, I am on creating Private Policy, the writing goal is 652 words but with its template, it has only 499 words. Do I need to currently edit and add more words to it. The training video is completely different and it was only explained on editing the actual name of your website. It was not explained whether adding more words are necessary or not. Looking forward to an answer to my question. Thanks

Hello Gene and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.
Just in case you haven't already gotten your answer.
The privacy policy doesn't have a word count because not everything in it is for everyone.
Like the autoresponder, not everyone has an autoresponder.
Here is a link to training that Marion created for the NEW privacy policy. Just please be sure that you click on the "like" button. These members created the training and provided it to help us. Here is training for the plugin you need to install as well. it was created by Loes. Please do the same and click "like" for it as well.

Hope this helps.

Kyle, I just finished lesson 9 concerning Keywords and was able to go to Jaxxy and work with the system to do some searching and understand how that site works. At the end of lesson 9 you list a number of accomplishments which have been done and they are all great. I feel that I have not done much as far as building my site and developing my website using the navigational tools that are part of the list of accomplishments. I did create the summary page about my site and went into some of my own story there. I also changed the privacy post so that it is connected to my webpage and I used the navigational tools to create the menu but I have not done anything else as far as posting other things and then using the navigational tools to develop the site for the front end user. What would you suggest to get a better understanding and better level of skill with that area? I kind of thought that the lessons would guide me into doing more posts or blogs to put on the website. Any thoughts that you think might be helpful? Thanks.

Hello KarenP3,
I understand your comprehension. This is a privilege 48.00 a month you get educated and all the tools you need to have your very own online business. I am on a fixed income and I am tired every month wondering how I am going to make ends met.
You are not under pressure to join now if necessary save until you get enough.
P.S. This is a rarity finding an honest online business that the owners & people care about your success.
Good Luck,

even though this is very new to me, i feel i am going to constantly be reminded to upgrade. i need to get a feel for what i am doing first and foremost. when and if i upgrade to premium, can i downgrade later on or is it once an upgrade is made it will remain until i "quit" the program

this is all new to me so i want to take advantage to see what i can learn from the starter status to see if any income will generate. if i feel i need to upgrade i will when funds allow me and things are going in a positive direction

thank you in advance for addressing my concern
Reply

HelloKaren and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.
Once you upgrade, you can not go back to being a free member.

Your first 7 days is in order for you to be able to see if this is something you will be able to do.

It is sort of like a test drive. Then if you like it, you can purchase it. If you don't like it, then it didn't cost you anything.

You can remain a free member as long as you like. The countdown is just letting you know that you can get the first month for $19 if you do it before your first 7 days are up.

You aren't the only one who started this being skeptical. many of us were very skeptical.

I hope this helps you out : )

Hmm... you sound like me who like to plan out in ahead (even the circumstance breaks my plans all the times -.- )

The answer to the first issue is no. Once you upgrade to premium members, you can not go back to the starter. Even some periods, you would like to withdraw, you can stop the membership anytime (by contact Kyle and Carson)

"is it once an upgrade is made it will remain until i "quit" the program"-> it depends on which method you choose to upgrade. If you pay monthly, you should inform Carson and his team a few days ahead before the circle comes.

If you upgrade by yearly (which save some for you - $359 one-time payment for yearly), you can go back your WA profile-> account setting-> subscription setting-> membership-> click on "stop billing and cancel membership". You can apply this method to above.

As a starter, you can build two free websites with Site Rubix, and you can start to make some money from that.

However, you would not have the access to get more detail, step-by-step lessons, other tools, and most value which is the community support.

Do I misunderstand you some points?

I have a more technical type question. I just wrote my about me page and it said that it had duplicate content in it. But, I just sat down and wrote it myself. How do I know what I duplicated or what to change? Or since I know I wrote it myself, do I just post it anyway?

Don't worry about it - this is your about me page, and it's not a page that will affect your site SEO wise

You can also go one step further and have the page set not to be indexed by the search engines, you can do that below the editor window of your page

Hello Kyle.
I noticed that at the end of your post there is no space in your signature between your name and website name.
how did you manage to do that? because SiteContent editor will consider every enter as a new paragraph and automatically puts a small plank space between them!

I use Word to achieve that; copy and paste in SiteContent :)

You can actually just delete empty space, go to the end of the document or edit it (if it is already published), and remove this space.

Hi Kyle,

Your Money Making Video started with the Customer searching for a product at Google, clicking the ensuing websites that follow and BOOM the affiliate earns. But what if you do not have in your website those products that the customer wanted in the first place? Where will our customer come from? How do we get customers to look at our website?
Reply
Zappades Premium
These are all skills you want to learn in the training here at WA.
Youn learn, how to target your audience, people you have a product they are looking for.
You learn where you find the products and how to add them to your website so you can earn a commission.
And you learn how to build your website so that it will get seen by people looking for your products.

It is a process and a lot of skills are involved but it can be done if you work hard and follow the training step by step :)

If someone is on your side and they click the link to purchase a product. For some reason they decide to close their browser and later on they were turn to buy that product but they go directly to the site they were going to purchase it from. Would you not get a commission in this instance?

I apologize for the spelling errors. I am using talk to text.

Hello Jeremy;
Usually you would not, but in Amazon, if the person puts it in their basket and then comes back later to buy, you would get the commission. If they go directly to the sellers site, I really do not think you would get the sale.

The last time I joined WA, the bigger affiliate programs came with cookies that would expire after a period of time. For example, the situation that you just asked about would likely put a long-term cookie on the potential customer's computer that recognizes the affiliate who directed said customer to the seller's website, and then awards the affiliate with a commission. It all depends on the potential customer actually buying the product before the cookie expires.
Reply
Hi,

How does the commission in terms of currency? Does that reflect to which you are specifically located. So if you are in USA, the currency will be in $ but if you are a traveller and in the future you are in South Korea, will the commission change to won? I will appreciate if somebody answers this question.

Thanks
Reply
possumlane Premium
The currency you get paid in is reflective and most sites usually use US dollars. For Instance I am in Australia and on my site I quote that all products are priced in US dollars and when they purchase the facility handling the transaction usually does the exchange. If they choose to become a preferred customer, again the exchange is done by the facility making the payments or receiving the payments. Another instance is that WA deals in US dollars so being in Australia when I make my payment Visa makes the calculation and my $47 become somewhere around $63.
That is how I understand it but to clarify you could also ask Kyle

Go online and check out "Affiliates" there are literally thousands and thousands of them so there must be something among that lot that you could utlilise. The other thing to watch for is to really do your research because the commission varies markedly . I spent many hours going through affiliates when I set up my anti-ageing-phenomenon site because I wanted the biggest commission because the products I am promoting are high end and I only wanted high end affiliates that pay great commissions.
Hope that helps

I'm having a difficult time selecting a niche. Am thinking of women's designer clothing, but then don't know how to narrow it down to something manageable.

Should I stick to categories like pants, or dresses? Should I include accessories? What about different designers? Is it a good idea to have several designers?

Thanks very much for any input. Feeling stuck already!
Reply
ThongN Premium
hmm...I have one opinion. How about the women's designer clothes for the thirties? (the main target will be women at her 30's ) Or you could narrow down a little more like new creative designer clothes for women in their thirties. Or workplace design clothes for young women? (this will target the range age from 18-30 or maybe a little older up to 40)

I'm not sure my opinion is narrow enough or not. You would have enough content to write and share with your niche in the next 6 months, so you should think more.

Good luck!
Reply
adreyna Premium
You might want to start by asking yourself a few questions...Is there a certain designer that you like more than others? If so, why? Do you prefer a specific category? What is it you want to help people do? It's probably best to stick with one designer, unless you're doing a comparison. I'm sure others will have some good ideas to share as well.

Question regarding my niche.

Should I be choosing just one focus niche now to start out?

I have written a list of niche's I want to investigate at some point but should I be leaving those for the future?

Do most people just focus on one niche or do you eventually
expand and have multiple sites with multiples niche's?

Thanks in advance.

Most people do only start with one niche and concentrate on that, eventually though you can expand into other niches. But focus on one first and see how that goes.

you ABSOLUTELY want to choose one niche and focus all of your attention on that niche and website.

It actually takes a lot of time and a lot of effort and a lot of content and a lot of learning to make one niche website profitable or getting enough quality traffic to be profitable.

When you figure out how to make the first one as successful as you want it to be — is the time to think about the next one

From everything that I have learned and experienced, you really need all of your focus and energy on one niche in the beginning to make it work, and to learn the process that works for you. Then, you can apply it to other niches and scale up your business.

If you ever for some reason do decide to quit, you cannot downgrade to Starter, however you will be able to resubscribe to your Premium account at any time and reconnect your membership (when you can make it back). ;)

We also host your website for 30 days beyond the cut off date, which gives you time to still work on it or move it to another host in the meantime.

Actually, I am willing to build a website about electronics.

I want to build the website about the top product of an electronic device like a camera, TV, mobile etc.

But it is said here micro niche website is the best

Now tell me If I built the website about this my niche goes from TV to Camera, AC to Fridge etc.

Now tell me if I will make a website like this, Is it good or not
Reply
Justin4487 Premium
Would be better to keep it as a single line of products reason being if someone where to search for electronics in general the main sites would be first to pop up however if your site focuses mainly on one type of product you will have a higher chance of being the first the person that is searching for that product see's.

Example i search google for a home electronics a ton of sites are going to pop up while you will be in here somewhere its not a garantee it will be on the first page of google.

Now say i search for cameras for my computer there is going to be way less search results simply because I further enhanced my search to be very specific.

This isnt to say you cant pursue all the electronics however start small and work your way up.

Hi Adam,
It's not a matter of picking a niche that hasn't already been located - I was of this mindset when I first started - everyone's doing that is there anything left for me to promote...

However, it's all about using keywords to find your content. You will learn how to drive traffic to your site in lesson 9 using keywords so that your site appears at the top of the search engine results.

When this happens, internet users that are searching for that particular service or product using the keywords you have chosen will visit your site - as it appears at the top of the search engine results.
That's the traffic.

When you start to get traffic, there is the potential for converting this traffic into paying customers.

The training will help get your site in the top search engine result pages. .. just continue through the lessons. You will get there.

Hope this helps.

It doesn't matter if other sites have already been located.

As long as you create a niche you like and can talk about more then anything else as you start making content google will take notice and rank you higher in the search results as long as your content is on point and informative.

Don't make a site saying buy this simply because you want them to, build out the content to encourage the purchase of the product.

If google see's your site as a dumping ground for ads and promotions they wont rank you.

So, money and traffic will come with time just focus on making content and the rewards will follow.

Hello Adam and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.
If you are trying to pick a niche that no one else has picked, I believe you will find that it is impossible.
BUT<
Just because others have chosen the same niche, doesn't mean you can't use it and be profitable from it.
You will be picking low competition keywords when you start creating content.
The keywords will be what people type into the search bar. You write quality content with captivating titles and this will be what keeps your readers interest and keeps them coming back to your site and sharing it with their friends and family or whoever. This will also create free traffic to your site.

Wishing you the best in all you do
Lee Ann

I hope this helps

Hi Mandy,
You don't need to pay to be on the first page of Google - using SEO can get you there. It is usually the big companies, who can afford to pay that use the paying methods to appear in the top search results.

Hope this helps.

Hi Kyle, I am listening to the video about managing the website with updates and going through all the elements. I noticed on my website that it says that it is good to backup the website before updating so that you dont lose your files and such. I have not done any content for the most part on my website yet. I have not been able to get back to the initial training until today for the last 2 days or so. I want to update as I am going through your video but I wanted to ask if I should learn how to backup first before doing that. Since I dont have any content created I did not think I really need to back up yet. Let me know what is best. Thanks.

good video, thanks Kyle!

Let's see what I can come up with in order to build my website. Quick question though: at this stage of the training I am yet to decide the layout of my website but have already got my niche in mind...shall I just go ahead and create a preview of my webpage following the steps I have just watched in this video and then as I move along the training and become more familiarised with the plugins and add-ons I can come back and keep working on the design of my web or shall I carry on just with the training and leave the web creation for later?

Thanks!

usually, our Kyle founders and other members suggest going with Amazon, Walmart, Macy, etc. Since they are brand companies for years. If your niche doesn't have the products within Amazon, then ClickBank and other affiliate networks might have. It depends on your niche. However, be aware that some affiliate networks ask you to pay forehead before joining-> those might not legit. Affiliate program for publishers should be free to sign up, join.

Look for reviews or go on Forums and ask questions of the people who are Affiliates or know the ones not to join and any company that asks you to pay to join you run in the opposite direction.

Affiliates get paid to promote and DO NOT have to pay for the privilege.

Working thoroughly through each lesson I now got stuck right here. I can't complete all tasks. Jaaxy doesn't let me do any more searches after I did three. Everytime I try it does lower the number of searches left, which is on 23 now, but it keeps saying I need to upgrade to see the results... Would someone know how to fix this please? Thank you in advance!
Reply
MariaB4 Premium
There is no fix for this. As you are a starter member, your searches are limited. When you upgrade to premium, you will be able to perform more searches.
Reply
sim0n Premium
Thank you for your extremely quick response. I understood though that a starter would have the ability to perform 30 searches. In fact, one of the tasks in lesson 9 (course 1) is to perform at least 5 searches and on top of that actually find 5 good keywords. That's impossible so it doesn't make any sense...

Okay, excellent. I had forgotten that he said in the video that some themes allow comments on pages and posts.

Mine does, and I had switched my About section to a page and published it, since pages allow font change from the theme, whereas the posts do not.

So just a heads up again for some people, if your font will not change from any settings under a post, you can change it to a page.

Although I don't know what limitations you may have to functionality or other displays of information you might need.

All my posts should be fine with the smaller font. I think. Definitely not changing the theme, though.

I have a question about affiliate links...
So say a customer searches a certain product and gets on an affiliate website and clicks the affiliate link to buy the product on Amazon. But, the customer decides they don't want to buy the product at that time after all. If later on, the customer searches for the product, knowing that they want to buy it on Amazon, and simply finds the product on Amazon without using the affiliate link the second time, does the affiliate website still earn commission on the sale? I would assume not, but I was just curious if somehow Amazon recognizes that at one point that customer used the affiliate link to reach the product. Sorry if this question is confusing but I hope someone can answer!

hello Zay and welcome to WA

If you have traffic already then the suggestion is transferring your website into WA. You can transfer your domain website outside into our WA hosting. The hosting fee is included with membership. One tip: if you upgrade to a yearly membership, you will save more. The one-time payment for a year is $359 (this includes the hosting fee, however, the fee of transfer is not -.- ). Comparing with monthly, it's $49.

Kyle has a tutorial video about transferring a domain. Or you can check this training other members:

This does seem overwhelming. I think I am beginning to understand this but I am unsure how to pick a good niche. And I know nothing about building a website and those seem so complex, and if you have more than one affiliate do you have to go to each of those websites and sign up as an affiliate! Maybe I am just getting ahead of myself.

- about building a website, just follow the basic training. Kyle will walk through the process step by step. It's easier than you thought.

- about affiliate network and relevance, we usually have to sign up two affiliates. One is a big affiliate network like Share A Sale, Click Bank. other affiliate relevances are Amazon, Walmart, Macy,etc.. (sometimes, Amazon, Macy are inside one big Affiliate network)

- pick good niche.... initial direction for you is following your interest, your passion, your experiences (life and career). Kyle has one video that tutors how to choose a niche.

If you have time, you can read this blog.

no - one website one niche

that example sounds like a post you'd do in a niche on gaming or headphones

try out a fixed niche - something that interests you and that you know about or are happy spending time researching so you can share about it in your posts

what you are looking for is a niche that you can produce 50-100 posts about as a start.

definitely keep to one niche per site as stated by everyone else.
focus on qualtiy content, you returns are gauged by your quality.

once you have learnt that you may find that you want to do something else as your niche - that's fine, you knoow how to do it now.

does it make sense not to host your site here? you are already paying for hosting within your membership!
choose a broadish niche and break it down into smaller chunks, this way you can write as much as possible on one section before moving onto another.
you say you are not a writer, can you talk about it.if you can invest in a speech to text program- this way you are only modifying your articles. Kyle did this when he broke hos hand, an still uses it, saves a lot of time if you are not a typer as well.
it is good you have doubts and are not so confident that you have decided what you are doing and know everything.

It makes a lot of sense to not host my webstite here. Professional web hosting services like http://sitegroung.com or http://liquidweb.com are the top in the industry. They offer you a lot of good options to scale your business, you can start with shared hosting then move on to a vps then to a dedicated server etc. You can chose the operating system and configure your machine among other benefits. It gives you more power/control I think. I like to keep things in separate places, like a separate registrar for all my domains, a separate web hosting service for web hosting, a separate resource for education (like wa) etc. Don't give one company too much control over your business. Just my two cents.

in your ca\se maybe - but in most an easy optino is good, otherwise they would not start.
all you have to do now is to choose a niche and creat content and be very helpful to your audience.
you could have always started here with hosting and moved it later on - as others have.

Hmm... Luca, you are limiting yourself or setting yourself up to fail with that mental outlook.
no i am not saying you need to be super confident, but you need a mental attitude of curiosity- rather than ' i don't think i can do it' - change it to ' how can i do it ' what questions come to mind - write them down and find answers - otherwise you will fail.
You are capable of doing it- even if you have to get someone else to do it - then what you need to do is to find the money to pay them. so a question' how do i find the money to pay for this site'
but seriously - you need to change the attitude to one of curiosity, every time you think - i can't do this - ask yourself why an write down the reasons - find the answer and move onwards.

Hi AV2001,
If you upgrade to Premium, you have two options. You can pay $49 per month, every month for as long as you want to remain a member. That comes out to about $588 per year. Your second option is to pay yearly ( a one time payment once a year) for $359. If you take the yearly payment of $359 and divide by 12 months, your monthly amount comes to approximately $30 a month. That is a savings of $19 per month.

I have been here for a while, and I continue to pay the monthly of $49. I do not have the extra to pay the yearly in one lump sum. So for some of us, it is an option. I will upgrade someday when I have extra funds, but for now, I only have to worry about the $49/mo. Either way, it is still a great deal. Good luck and take care.

I replied to a previous this I'm thinking the same way. I'm trying to figure out the best plan of attack. The niche covers a broad spectrum in a local market. Unfortunately it looks like there really isn't any affiliate programs for what I'm thinking. There is a few but not local. Is there an actual niche promoting affiliate programs for companies that don't have them in a city of 4 million people. Basically a way of wrangling a local market?

If the affiliate program is your niche, I suggest you first understand what an affiliate program is and then decide how to start your niche website. This is a lesson about affiliate program: If your answer is not this, you can contact kyle and carson to answer your question.

My site has name intended for a broad range and I intended to have 3 niches that relate to each other in some way. I have heard that if you focus on one niche at a time using a divide and conquer strategy it can be done. Does anyone think this could be the case?I had the name before I took any training and I feel committed to my plan.

Hello,

I'm so happy to be part of this group, but of course I have a lot of questions as a beginner :)
I have a niche, but you are also talking that we should choose a tiny one. My problem is that my niche is not so tiny - baking and decorating. I want to talk about recipes, supplies, products, techniques, etc. What is your suggestion? - Start only with one of those - like post recipes with the related productions, and keep the supplies out of this site, OR I can do all these into one site? I will really appreciate your reply. Thanks in advance
Reply
GinaU1 Premium
You don't have to keep the supplies off your site. You could incorporate them by creating a shopping tab that features all your favorite supplies and include affiliate links to the products. Hope this helps!
Reply
MozMary Premium
I think they all belong together and make great affiliate commission opportunities but that the real question is how you link them eg what sort of baking are you into, what is your segment of the market there eg these days there is gluten free, healthy, raw, regular, big variety and many audiences, choose your audience

Very thorough video but I’m curious if the process still works if someone clicks the link but ends up purchasing later or through another channel. For example, I myself am a huge online shopper; if I research something but then end up purchasing through the amazon app instead of the direct link 2 days later would that still count?

If I put the item in my cart but don’t buy until later does that count?

I guess I’m wonderif if these purchases get tracked through IP or cookies of something like that.
Reply
billy947 Premium
Hello Olivia;
They say if a person puts an item in their cart and saves it, takes the item before 90 days, you would get credit. But you cannot buy an item yourself, because if your name comes up or address that you gave them when signing up, does not count.

Say I am using my laptop and private browsing, I search “Car seats after infancy” and go to a website that shows a whole bunch and their ranking etc... I’m not ready to purchase just yet but I remember “maxi cosi”. A month later I type in “maxi cosi” car seat and find the cheapest price online and purchase from an online store but not through the original link.

Whoever’s website I originally found maxi cosi from wouldn’t get the commission am I right? So really what we are trying to do is get the individual who did the search to buy from your affiliate within the next 90 days from your link and not somewhere else? Or does the “interwebs” track that you went to that site and that’s where you got “maxi cosi” from like inception?

Sorry if that was long or confusing
Reply

They are tracked by the affiliate link inside the code by your affiliate number I believe. Now if you switch websites to purchase the object you were going to buy. Then someone lost the sale and someone else gained it. Does that make sense?

So excited already just by setting up the website!

To all those who have taken this path before...When is it worth upgrading to premium? (I'm sure it has a lot to offer!) But I'm talking about someone who can't afford to currently pay 200-300$ without reeally having to. So does there come a time when it is absolutely necessary? Or can one do without it until there is some kind of income from the 1 or 2websites? Thank you!!

Is there still the offer to get your first month at the reduced price. if there is, it's probably best to go for that. It was only available for the first 7 days, when I started, a few weeks ago. You're going to have to go for it sometime, so might as well get the first month cheaper. I'm unemployed at the moment but went for it and just hope I can afford to continue. But I had to give it a try and you won't get far without it. It takes a lot of time and effort to get a website making any money and for me I couldn't go anywhere without the training.

Hello Salma;
You do not have to spend 200 to 300$ right now. You can go premium for $19 the 1st month as long as you sign up within the first 7 days, after that it would cost $49 a month as you go along.
Wishing you all the best.

Yes, you probably won't get far without it. The lessons about making money come later--after the first 10 lessons; but those first initial lessons are very important and should be done BEFORE the money-making part comes in. You can technically do without it and ask LOTS of questions, but it will be incredibly difficult. I can't really afford it either, but I'm finding a way by doing odd jobs on the side.

Take influence with how you were sold on WA and apply that to your niche. If you can help people, and you can help them make an informed decision on something, you can be VERY successful online!

I would like to create a blog that would help with obesity, depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders. I personally know about having all these problems at once and have found it hard finding information on the internet about all at one time. I have spent a great deal of time learning all I can on each one of these subjects. I was wondering if this is too broad a subject or should I just focus on one or two of these things?
Reply

You are too broad as a general view. However, if you want to combine them all under an age group. I.e. obesity depression anxiety and sleep deeds orders for young mothers or menopausal women or teenage boys then it's not so bad because you are focusing around specific problems for a specific targeted group of people

Thanks. Really having trouble with this niche thing. I don't really have any hobbies, besides reading and watching tv shows. Other than that I spend my time researching health and wealth topics. I really want to take my time with a niche because I want to know that I have enough information I can write about.
Reply
MozMary Premium
you certainly have enough by the sounds of it, and done so much research already, so you are well set up

those topics you mention certainly could be individual niches but like KatKatsKitchen says, there are ways to see them as categories especially within the holistic world where solving underlying causes can make them all click into place and resolve , and certainly you already have seen them all occur together

you could start with a free site that way you are free to change things up or down as you progress through the training and move your content to an own domain later if you feel you've settled on what you want
Reply
I think if your heart is truly in it and you're creating content that you enjoy, you'll have success with it. It may be a little broad, but it still seems like a great niche to try. Good luck!

Hi Jennifer,

In addition to all the great responses above, I would add this is very important what you said:

"have found it hard finding information on the internet about all at one time"

That means that there's a whole section (niche) that is not filled. That also means that you'll find those low hanging fruit keywords that will bring TONS of traffic to your site.

So, you're in good hands with the niche you want to go with. You can always start with one or two things (this will narrow your niche down) and then expand as your site expands down the road.

Mary's suggestion of starting with a free site is a great one since you can save on buying a custom domain until you feel right about what you've created. Or you can easily just delete the free site and start over.... the free site gives you a testing ground sort of speak.

Please let us know if you have any more questions about picking and choosing a niche! :)

So, I was watching the keyword search video, and doing keyword searches in Jaxy. Some of the results in my search had brand names. My niche is cameras, helping people find the perfect camera for their current needs. I use one specific brand, but that one brand is not the only one on the market. I don't feel like I can truly help someone find a camera to fit their needs by informing them of only what I prefer. I fully intend on having many options on my site. So, when I choose a keyword, should it not involve the brand? Or does each page I write have its own keyword? I'm a little confused at this point.
Reply
LeeMcQuay Premium
Hello Crystal.
Each post that you write will have it's own keyword. You can write about the brand that you use and it will actually help you.

You already know about it and it's features, how to utilize them and perhaps the things you can not do with that brand.

You will have to continuously write about it and that is where it helps with knowing about the brand that you are recommending.

You can also do comparisons with similar brands.

I hope this was useful
Wishing you the best in all you do

Hey team,
I'm struggling with the idea that "there is no such thing as choosing the wrong niche". What if there's no market for my desired niche?
My biggest area of interest is freedom - time and psychological freedom particularly, but this could also encompass financial, health, lifestyle and career freedom. I want to focus on the first two, as I have heaps of knowledge and ideas for affiliate marketing, but my initial target market research into time freedom particularly, through both online searches and interviews with potential customers, has generated very few leads. Productivity is meant to be a huge area in the future but I can't really find much in the way of what I want to offer already on the Internet.
Has anyone else had a similar experience but been pleasantly surprised once they dove into their niche??
Looking for some hope :)
Thank you!

Hey Kezia.
The reason as to why its often said that there's no such thing as choosing the wrong niche is because there are over 4 Billion people using the internet today and all of them have very varying interests.
If you are interested in something, other people out there are interested in the same thing too.
Just choose the niche that you feel you are most passionate about and Wealthy Affiliate will help you turn it into cash in due time.

Good luck my friend :)

The secret to choosing the right niche is to find one that you're passionate enough about that you can write lots of content for it. :)

I made the mistake, initially, of choosing a very targeted niche. I soon discovered that it made it difficult to write content for it because I soon ran out of ideas for new posts.

I broadened my niche a bit so now I'm able to write more freely and I'm building a site that I love, not just for the wealthy-generating possibility but because it's content I genuinely care about.

If you really care about psychological freedom (and I know I do), then you'll find your site soon becomes a passionate outlet for your interests. :)

Good luck!

Thank you so much for your reassurance, Mitala. You're so right - if I'm interested, someone else will be interested, too! Cheers! :)

Because it's going to be a long-haul before you start generating enough traffic to create an income, it's really important that you're writing about something you love.

I currently have 2 websites that were built for me, each one with my chosen niche. They are with Shopify. I am unable to access them at this time because I have not been able to keep up with the monthly fee for having them. So, Shopify won't give me access until I start paying my monthly membership again.
My question is...can I have those websites of mine transfered to the platform that WA uses?
Reply
Kyle Premium
The problem is most Shopify stores is that they fail miserably because people do not realize with that website you need to marketing budget to get it off the ground. If you are going to go directly into ecommerce without first having a source of traffic (audience), then you will want a minimum of $10,000 for paid ads which carry a great deal of risk. That is minimum, just for testing and getting your campaign to convert.

That isn't realistic for most folks and something they are not told about before they get into the Shopify (ecommerce/dropshipping) business mdoel.

Here at Wealthy Affiliate you are going to learn how to PROPERLY build a business online, in any niche. You are going to learn all about affiliate marketing and how to earn from over 550 million products/services as an affiliate without dealing with all of the headaches of ecom (shipping, transactions, customer support, refunds, etc). It is a brilliant business model.

The first focus is going to be creating the audience and defining yourself as an authority with in a given niche for category. What you promote at the end of the day is going to be completely up to you, but understanding traffic and how to get it for free (through search engine optimization) is essential for your longevity in business, and sustainability.

There is another important thing to consider as to whether this will be big or not, what percentage of people (globally) even have this training, or one similar to it? For example, if you use the finder function and put in "hours" I only found 119 results (meaning 119 people commented within a 23 hour period). That may sound like a lot, but for a 23-hour period (1 day) that is small. For if you multiply that by 365 days a year, 119*365=43,435 people every year. Compared to the fact that 4 billion globally, as of right now use the internet (http://www.internetlivestats.com/). Based on those numbers, .001% of individuals are even actively engaged in this training. That is a really small percentage, wouldn't you say? As for those other numbers, all you need is a small share of that pie to make some money. Also, we will all be different niches, so it is not like we will even need to be competing with each other, instead we should work together. In other words, if you go through with all this training and really commit to it, a sustainable online income will come before you know it and you will be part of an elite minority that knows how to make money online.

Once again, thank you!

Love lots,
Lyn

Hello Mary!

I'll go right away from the start.
I"ll let you know if I made it.
One more thing, can I change the title of my niche?

Thank you very much.

Warm regards,
Lyn

my question is this. Are people making more money off of the Niche websites they are making or are they earning more off of the referrals they are sending to wealthy Affiliate? Clearly there is some level of MULTI-LEVEL-MARKETING here. i have seen all of the sites dedicated to ensuring people this isnt a scam and that this is the #1 affiliate marketing program. I just want to know the truth if the main focus is the MULTI-LEVEL-MARKETING thats fine but i really want to build and run my OWN website in my specific niche and if this is about the MLM aspect i can handle that i will use that to my advantage and makeas much money as i can then use that money to help build my website and distributorship through another company based on my niche all while still operating this business as well.

Hi, first this is not an MLM. You can recommend the program to customers and earn a commission but that is the only level. You can't earn anything from your referral's sales.

The training "Online Entrepreneur Certification" is focusing niche websites. Any niche will do.

The "Affiliate Bootcamp" teaches how to best sell WA referrals.

It's all up to you, I think most members build their niche website here.

That is great to here. I have about 5 or 6 killer Niche ideas and i will use whatever time it takes to build them. Even if that means working the hours of 2 jobs I WILL NOT FAIL. Thank you for your reply!!!!

It’s me Daniel from Wealthy Affiliates, Today I ran an ad for my website My Super Stores. My autoresponder tells me how many people clicked into my website and if they buy something or not. Isn't that jest amazing. So let's see now I put a add together,( focusing on women’s fashion) took me all of about 3 minute, I sent out 200 emails at (zero cost) and we already know my website I built from Wealthy Affiliate cost me (zero cash) ( This little Ad I ran cost me nothing) so far out of 200 emails I sent out today at about 1:00 pm I got 46 clicks 11 are unique clicks 2 unique clicks purchased merchandise that came to a total of $74.00 ( A 100% PROFIT) not bad for 3 minutes work. I have been collecting emails for some time now so when I run an email campaign it’s like going to an ATM machine. Don't get me wrong I spent hours building my little website into what it is today and I still have lots of work to do on it the best part is it’s already making me money. I work on building my website every day for about 2 hours jest like if it were a real job. All I have to do now is see how much money I will collect off of the rest of my 200 emails I sent out. Ok!! I really don't know how serious you are about how far you want to take this new adventure with Wealthy Affiliates is, all I can say is it works, in the begging I put some time in on this Website and now it's paying off. So take your new business serious, and stop trading money for hours of your life. Work at you knew business a little each day and watch it grow. Soon you will be living a lifestyle most people only dream about, I am not going to lie to you it takes work but the payoff is big. ( I sent this to my referrals because I want them to know the truth )

Hi 74janwell I hope this helps answer your question i don;t really like MLM. I joined Wealthy Affiliates so I could build me a website and make some money not to become some part of a MLM scam. I am not making any money off of Wealthy Affiliates that's not way I joined up. Wealthy Affiliates has done every thing they said they were going to do and more. I up graded to Premium because I need more help and helping you is not going to make me anymore money. I jest don't like to here when a fellow WA member is discourage. There is money to make in building your own website
it's all about how you do it, when you do it and where to advertise.

The time it takes will depend on you. The more time you put in, the quicker you will learn what to do. Its not a race here, it's all about learning and helping each other out.

Hello Adam and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate.
The amount of time it takes to complete the training varies on each individual.
It will really depend on you. How much time you have to put into the training and if you are able to understand it the first time you go through a lesson.
In order to give yourself an IDEA of how long it may take you, keep a record of how long it takes you to get through the first level and then you should have a general idea of how long it will take you to complete the whole course.
I hope this was helpful : )
Wishing you the best in all you do

I was just wondering in the Jazzy keyword search my search results do not automatically have the QSR results. I have to click the get QSR every time. Am I missing a setting that needs to be changed or maybe it just has to do with my niche? Anybody have any information let me know thank you so much

That's what I have been doing. Just pick the ones that I want and hit "get qsr" . only takes a second to get them.

nope, that's normal. You need to click on the "get the QSR" button for more info every single time for every single keyword that you are interesting.

If you see the automatic get the QSR like Jay webinar -> he upgrades his Jaaxy into the paid version, so every time Jay types the keyword into Jaaxy. He gets the automatic loading all the quality (average traffic, QSR, etc. ) of keywords without click on the 'get QSR' button

I know what is my niche. I have been working on my spirituality. There are so many authors on Amazon. Then yoga is involved and that means classes and equipment. Then there is meditation. Which includes more books more classes, etc. Now I have Amazon and eBay right off the back. Going to start my website.
Thanks!
