Building a website is a great way to share your ideas with the world. It's also a great way to make money online, build and establish a brand, and to generate all sorts of rankings in search engines like Google. It is the foundation of ALL successful businesses online.
The first step is getting up and running with your initial website. We make it easy to build a website, even if you don't know anything about coding.
The process of building a website looks like this here at Wealthy Affiliate:
1. Choose the type of website you want to build, whether it's a free domain or a domain you own. As a Starter you can build a website on a free domain (provided for you)
2. Choose a domain name for your website, which is the address of your website on the internet.
3. Choose a template for your website, which is the design of your website. As a Starter, you have ONE option, if you upgrade you will unlock over 4,000+ websites designs.
4. Publish your website once you are happy with the name of it.
By following these steps and tips, you can create a website that is successful and effectively reaches your target audience.

Nice work, you are up and running with your website. Remember that your website starts off as a "blank canvas", just like an artist you are going to be building out your website and making it more beautiful as you do so (creating your own masterpiece). As you move through the training this is what you are going to be taught.
Top Helpers in This Lesson
If I pay the annual price and find after 3 months that the program truly sucks, is the balance refundable? The WA plan seems ultra modern to someone my age, yet it must work since nobody is under indictment after 17 years. Anxious to learn a new career, just need a little more educated info.
I wanted to mention on the WIX question you have. It could also serve you at one point having that site hosted at WIX instead of here. If you get some good traffic flowing to it from tips you learn here (or if you already get good traffic) and decide to start a second site here, if the niche is similar you can use each to help refer traffic to one another without worrying Google might view it as a Private Blog Network.
The plus to this is if the two sites are complimentary, having links between the two sites would be natural.
You may follow up on the training step by step at your own pace; you are now in lesson one of level one.
Also, ask questions to get clarifications
Please know here at WA; you have a whole community rooting for your success. Good to have you here with us.
When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:
I want to help people that ______________.
Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience.
Also, I recommend that you use the Niche Finder AI (Artificial Intelligence) platform here at WA:
If you plug your ideas in there, you are going to get lots of concepts for narrowed down niches. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)
So I have a question, my top number 1 concern has been choosing the Niche and the reason is that my passions and what I like and enjoy which are Health & Fitness, Nutrition and Personal Growth and development comes under Google YMYL and EAT.
Considering that in order to get clicks on my links and get commissions I need to get traffic to my website, that has been one of the things that have kept me frozen on moving forward since Google updated their algorithm with YMYL and EAT.
How would you say I can go about this? Should I be choosing a different Niche? Thanks.
Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate; it's great to see you here, you have joined a great platform.
Sometimes I think it's just easier to ignore Google, within reason and go to where your passion is! I believe that if you follow the training, as many people have, you stand a very good chance of being successful. It also helps if you have a real passion for your niche, as I believe that passion can shine through in your writing and people can see that you are serious.
I hope this helps.
I wish you every success with your online business.
As for EAT, this is actually relevant for all sites and not just some niches. It is about showing you have expertise and that you are an expert. But that is what you learn to do with the training here.
Thanks for the feedback. So I would like to explain that I was a personal trainer and fitness manager back in the day, I then left the fitness industry over 15 years ago and went into sales, I am currently an area sales manager for an IT consultancy company. I still help some friends and family with nutrition and training advice, weight loss and also life advice in general about how to be healthier, active, positive and more successful in life.
I am also very passionate about food and cooking, I tried to do a food blog before but gave up as doing the recipes and pictures take a lot of my time and working full time is a bit of a difficult one to grow. I have lived on 2 different continents and visited more than 30 countries on 3 different continents so I would definitely be passionate about writing about something like food culture or food travelling. When I answer the following question I come up with several answers:
I want to help people that … men over 40 to be more successful and happy in life through their nutrition, exercise and healthy productive habits advice.
I want to help people that … are interested in food, the history and culture behind each cuisine, and their techniques of cooking and share information about travelling culinary experiences.
I want to help people that … need a comfortable outdoor space back home to understand the best and most affordable products in the market as well as give them tips and ideas on how to do it.
After doing some niche research I have come up with the following possible niches:
Dating Advice for Single Men Over 40.
Low Calorie Nutrition for Men Over 40.
Success Habits for Men Over 40.
Outdoor Chillout Furniture.
Marketing Automation Software.
Project Management Software.
Gourmet Food Travel
Cultural Food Travel
I am planning to set up several sites. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I would suggest you also use Google to check what is already ranking in the different niches and see if there are affiliate sites as that gives you an indication of its potential.
And then, I would be careful about going into marketing automation software as your first niche. Most sites in this niche are problem run by experts or companies with big teams which is difficult to compete with when you are just starting. This is something you can also see when you do some googling and look at your competitors.
Also, I would suggest you start with one site and grow that and start earning from that before starting several. I see many people getting excited about all the niche opportunities that are there and then start working on several sites but it spreads them out and success will then take longer compared to putting all the focus into one site. Especially when you still have a regular job you have to do also.
In addition to that, it is a learning process and if you focus on one site you will learn a lot from that and learn what to do and what not to do, and that will make it a lot more effective when building another site later.
Hope this helps and gives you some ideas.
As for the best to start with, that is something I cannot as such answer as it would take a lot of research for me to look into these niches as I do not know them. And a lot of it also comes down to what you are passionate about and feel the most motivated to get started with, as that is important to be able to keep going and get results. And also, what you have the most experience with is important as that will make it easier for you to create content and find content ideas.
But one thing to think about is that traveling content can be hard to create if you are not constantly traveling.
One thing I would also suggest is to not make the URL too specific so it allows you to expand your niche later. For example, your URL should not include something with "over 40" if that is the target audience you want to go for. Because later on, you might find out that you also want to have content that is relevant for others. Just something to think about.
Hope this helps
