OK, awesome. You now have your niche, in other words, the direction for your brand & business. That is great and don't worry about this not being "perfectly clear" at this point, as you move forward the pieces of the puzzle are going to come together.

Starting with a big piece today, your website. We are going to be taking our niche idea and turning it into a tangible business starting with your website.

Building a Website Ain't Scary, It's FUN!

Building a website sounds like a "scary" process, but fortunately you have access to the most advanced, yet simplistic website platform in the world here at Wealthy Affiliate. We pride ourselves as a technology company here at Wealthy Affiliate and we are the industry leaders in the website development space.

I am not going to toot our horn any longer, I would rather you experience the website builder and platform for itself. The first step today is going to be building your website, which will literally take you less than 30 seconds.

Click the SiteBuilder link

within the menu, and you are going to be ready to rock here (and complete the next task).

Below I have included a "Building Your Website in Under 30 Seconds" video walking you through the Website Platform (also knwn as SiteRubix) here at WA and showing you how quickly and efficiently you can build a website here at Wealthy Affiliate.

Task 1: Build Your Website

Your website is your foundation of your business. It is where all of your traffic is ultimately going to come to, where you are going to build brand and trust within the industry, and where you can promote products/services and generate $$$!

The SiteBuilder platform here at WA is the most simplistic, yet advanced in the industry. It is going to take less than 30 seconds to get a fully operational, profit ready Wordpress website up and running online.

There are 4 steps in the website build process, that I am going to walk you through here. To access the SiteBuilder and EVERYTHING related to your website, you will simply click the light blue "SiteRubix" button in the main menu.

Step 1: Choose the Kind of Website

There are really TWO options here, on a FREE website or on your OWN domain. Ideally, you will have your own domain, but that can come with time.

You can "register" your very own domains right within Wealthy Affiliate using our state of the art SiteDomains platform, which will allow you to instantly set-up your own domain for your own use.

If you are just starting out as a Starter member, you will be building a website on the .siterubix.com domain, which is a completely free website. You can build and host up to 2 FREE websites as a Starter.

As a Premium member, you can build and host up to 25 free websites and the ability to create 25 sites on your own domains (total 50 websites). That is more than adequate to drive many multi-million dollar businesses over time.

For the sake of this training, we are going to be choosing "On a free domain".

Do know that within the Premium membership, you can easily MOVE a free .siterubix.com button to a registered domain (one you may own) using the "Premium Only" MOVE feature. So by all means start off with a free website and then down the road you can move it to your own domain.

Step 2: Choose a Domain

Remember last lesson when I chose my "niche". In this step, I am going to be choosing a name for my website and placing it in the "domain name" field. This is because this will be my website URL and my brand moving forward.

As you can see below, I have added my brand "how to lose belly fat today" into the domain field.

When you type in your domain, it will let you know if it is available or not. In my case it was, but if your first choice is not available simply do another search until you find a domain name that works for you.

You cannot put spaces in your domain name, hence why my domain is "howtolosebellyfattoday".

Step 3: Choose a Website Name

The name of your website should match your domain, but it just needs to be grammatically correct (with proper spacing). You can see below my example of this:

Domain: basketballskillsanddrills.stierubix.com

Title: Basketball Skills and Drills

It is as simple as that. Don't overthink this step, your title will be the same as your domain.

Step 4: Choose a Design

The last step is choosing a "look" for your theme. As a Starter member you will have access to one theme that has been hand picked for quality, speed, security, and overall theme design.

As a Premium Member though you will have access to over 4,134 designs (as shown below) or your website and there are always new designs being added to this daily. These are referred to as "Themes".

Choose a design that you like.

Click on the design you like, and then you will be able to build your site.

SiteRubix, a Next Level Website and Hosting Platform.

You are going to notice that there are many other website features allocated within the SiteRubix menu. I don't want to eat up too much of your time here, but it is important that you understand the incredible benefits of the SiteRubix platform.

The powerful hosting you have access you here is unparalleled in the Managed Wordpress hosting industry. We truly specialize here in providing a secure, robust and FAST platform for you to run your website.

  • SiteDomains (Starter & Premium)

There you have it, the low down of the SiteRubix platform and you have your website officially up and running online. Exciting stuff!

As we move forward within the training we are going to be building out your website content, and working to get indexed and ranked in Google, Bing & Yahoo (and do so for free).

I have several ideas for my niche and not sure which would be the better option.. I have been making money using many avenues such as selling platforms Ebay, Amazon, Etsy, Macari and Poshmark. So thought it could be something those lines??

Or currently experiencing menepause problems so I find my self on google searching relief for these symptoms so feel this would be more profitable.. Just an opinion would be awesome.

Hi - your first idea would be the make money online niche, helping others to find online types of income. This is very competitive, but you seem to have a lot of experience in this area, so it could work for you.

Menopause relief is a popular subject, and there is certainly plenty of advice you could give.

Ultimately, bear in mind you will be expected to write a lot of content, on your niche, so which one can you think of lots of topics about, and would enjoy writing about?

What is the niche that you are making money on that involves Ebay, Amazon, Etsy etc.? Also I know that I am only 16 and I have quite a ways to go before I reach menopause, but I know a thing or two. I think it it is a great idea! There are many people who have no idea how to relieve themselves of the symptoms. I knew a lady who talked about using peppermint oil. I'm not sure how exactly I just remember it being mentioned. It may work for some and it may not. This is a fantastic niche because you are literally targeting every single older aged woman which is a smart move. That's my opinion

Thanks for advice this was the niche I was leaning toward.. Ebay, Amazon I resell clothing I have a men's store and women's store and a hard good store. Amazon basically retail arbitrage and books and Etsy I do custom Vinyl T-shirts and all of these sites are money makers but was looking to shake things up for the New Year You can't grow if you don't change things up throughout your life.

He guys, I just took lesson 9 “understanding keywords, the start of Your Content. Very well explained.

However, in the video Kyle mentions a few 'great' keywords that have an average global monthly traffic of around 100 with an expected traffic of 25 people. To me, this doesn’t sound that much, I fail to understand how such a keyword is ever going to generate any profit.

What are your thoughts on this?

You want something that gets traffic, but just not too much competition at the same time. Therefore you have a better chance of generating traffic to those fewer people, and eventually when you brand yourself and get more customers then the traffic will go up.

It would be good if the website training included how to make the website look professional graphically. Where the training stops leaves us with a website that looks very ordinary. I have found Youtube videos that show how to end up with a beautiful site. But wouldn't it be great to have a complete package in here in the training section on how to do this?

Hey Sam, go to the live events on the left and hunt around in there. Jay has done some great sessions on setting up websites, branding and so on which will help you solidify the look of your site.

You might just want to suggest that to Kyle and Carson; they are in charge around here. If you don't know? Just type Kyle into the search engine above and click on his name. I suggest you do the same for Carson too. See what they say?

So could somebody please give me a timeframe about how long it takes to get through the lessons and get a website set up with your niche . How long from the time you get your site up and running do you actually see income Just so I can get an idea of how to schedule my hours .

Hi - that is impossible to answer as everybody works at their own pace.
You might understand a lesson straight away or you may have to watch the videos again. You may be able to write an article for your website in an hour, or it might take four hours.
If you follow the training step by step and complete each task as you are asked to do so then you will have built your website by the end of lesson 4.
You are unlikely to see any income for at least 3 months and more realistically it would be 6 months. You are building a genuine online business for the future which takes time and determination.

Can't agree more Shifu (shifu means guru)! I would prefer slow but sure motion. And to be honest, from one to another lesson, i took another lesson from other place (ex Youtube) like making a good website display, etc.

You really need to stop being so impatient, you will need to learn patience to succeed in this business.

How long depends on how much time you have and how quickly you grasp the information
Reply
Im not impatient. I just have other life obligations and am looking for a realistic time frame so I can allow for it.

OK I'm reviewing previous lessons because I sort of had to start over... and I learned in later lessons that building pages and pages of useful content is going to be a critical part of the process. Looking at the example used in this 2nd lesson, such as snack football helmets, I can see where there would be a lot of links and keywords and pages for all the different teams, but putting together the content would be more like "nuts and bolts info" rather than getting deeply into becoming a content-writing hero. Am I right? I bring this up because those who are intimidated by creating lots of great content might benefit from choosing niches and creating sites that are more like this... where a description of a specific product(s) is not so difficult to put together for content. In contrast, I chose a niche of sleep, and the overwhelm to create content based on real research is very present... whereas the content I could put together over describing a snack helmet would be very factual and completely different in nature.

If I'm right about that...educating new students on this would probably lessen the "giving up due to overwhelm" rate. At least they could potentially see reward quicker while not bogged down with overwhelm on writing stellar content, and building the quality slowly over time. Seems like that would come with experience and learning what to do and how to build, but give them some taste of success a little sooner. So I guess my question is... is this snack football helmet site an example of putting together many pages (for each team) as a niche, and the content is mainly just a description of the product, and the many keywords mainly distinguish the different teams? That seems SO much easier for learning than picking a niche you hope will be profitable and doing tons of research to write content like an expert.

Hi SnevinA.
I know what you mean about starting over again. I am starting over again, because I hit a wall. I had my site ranked in Google and then my steamed fizzled when my Mother became terminally ill. After that the 'what ifs' started popping up. This time I am not going to be over thinking so much, but I will be writing my notes down and making changes as needed. My niche is financial education. Good luck and I wish you much success!

Hi - I'm starting over as well. Good luck with it. I haven't an answer to your specific question, but would guess that relevant or relatable content is the key - whether it;s facts based or more wordy. Depends on your niche i guess
