OK, awesome. You now have your niche, in other words, the direction for your brand & business. That is great and don't worry about this not being "perfectly clear" at this point, as you move forward the pieces of the puzzle are going to come together.

Starting with a big piece today, your website. We are going to be taking our niche idea and turning it into a tangible business starting with your website.

Building a Website Ain't Scary, It's FUN!

Building a website sounds like a "scary" process, but fortunately you have access to the most advanced, yet simplistic website platform in the world here at Wealthy Affiliate. We pride ourselves as a technology company here at Wealthy Affiliate and we are the industry leaders in the website development space.

I am not going to toot our horn any longer, I would rather you experience the website builder and platform for itself. The first step today is going to be building your website, which will literally take you less than 30 seconds.

Click the SiteBuilder link

within the menu, and you are going to be ready to rock here (and complete the next task).

Below I have included a "Building Your Website in Under 30 Seconds" video walking you through the Website Platform (also knwn as SiteRubix) here at WA and showing you how quickly and efficiently you can build a website here at Wealthy Affiliate.

Task 1: Build Your Website

Your website is your foundation of your business. It is where all of your traffic is ultimately going to come to, where you are going to build brand and trust within the industry, and where you can promote products/services and generate $$$!

The SiteBuilder platform here at WA is the most simplistic, yet advanced in the industry. It is going to take less than 30 seconds to get a fully operational, profit ready Wordpress website up and running online.

There are 4 steps in the website build process, that I am going to walk you through here. To access the SiteBuilder and EVERYTHING related to your website, you will simply click the light blue "SiteRubix" button in the main menu.

Step 1: Choose the Kind of Website

There are really TWO options here, on a FREE website or on your OWN domain. Ideally, you will have your own domain, but that can come with time.

You can "register" your very own domains right within Wealthy Affiliate using our state of the art SiteDomains platform, which will allow you to instantly set-up your own domain for your own use.

If you are just starting out as a Starter member, you will be building a website on the .siterubix.com domain, which is a completely free website. You can build and host up to 2 FREE websites as a Starter.

As a Premium member, you can build and host up to 25 free websites and the ability to create 25 sites on your own domains (total 50 websites). That is more than adequate to drive many multi-million dollar businesses over time.

For the sake of this training, we are going to be choosing "On a free domain".

Do know that within the Premium membership, you can easily MOVE a free .siterubix.com button to a registered domain (one you may own) using the "Premium Only" MOVE feature. So by all means start off with a free website and then down the road you can move it to your own domain.

Step 2: Choose a Domain

Remember last lesson when I chose my "niche". In this step, I am going to be choosing a name for my website and placing it in the "domain name" field. This is because this will be my website URL and my brand moving forward.

As you can see below, I have added my brand "how to lose belly fat today" into the domain field.

When you type in your domain, it will let you know if it is available or not. In my case it was, but if your first choice is not available simply do another search until you find a domain name that works for you.

You cannot put spaces in your domain name, hence why my domain is "howtolosebellyfattoday".

Step 3: Choose a Website Name

The name of your website should match your domain, but it just needs to be grammatically correct (with proper spacing). You can see below my example of this:

Domain: basketballskillsanddrills.stierubix.com

Title: Basketball Skills and Drills

It is as simple as that. Don't overthink this step, your title will be the same as your domain.

Step 4: Choose a Design

The last step is choosing a "look" for your theme. As a Starter member you will have access to one theme that has been hand picked for quality, speed, security, and overall theme design.

As a Premium Member though you will have access to over 4,134 designs (as shown below) or your website and there are always new designs being added to this daily. These are referred to as "Themes".

Choose a design that you like.

Click on the design you like, and then you will be able to build your site.

SiteRubix, a Next Level Website and Hosting Platform.

You are going to notice that there are many other website features allocated within the SiteRubix menu. I don't want to eat up too much of your time here, but it is important that you understand the incredible benefits of the SiteRubix platform.

So I just went to Amazon and attempted to set up an affiliate account and man that become overwhelming. I didn't get it completed because they were asking questions we didn't know the answer too, like how many people come to our website a month. We don't have it up and going yet how can we answer that?

Hi all,
I have question regarding an area I’m confused about: What if your site is promoting products that aren’t part of major affiliate programs like Amazon? Should I go back to the drawing board? I’m focusing on c2c (cradle-to-cradle) products; This means products that are made to a stringent set of environmental requirements and that do not go to the landfill at the end of their lifecycle. It’s common for these to be sold simply from the manufacturer’s or company’s site, rather than on Amazon, for example. I like this niche because I’ve worked in this sector, and am trying to make it work with affiliate marketing. Thank you!!

Not at all. Almost every company has affiliate opportunities these days. If you can find some company or brand that promotes these kinds of products then you can reach out directly to them to see if they offer this. It may take a bit more research or work on your part but sometimes the rewards can be better in these types of niches

@mikebeatty thank you! I'd considered that too, regarding reaching out directly, so it's helpful to hear you say that. As a follow up: My understanding is that I would want to be promoting as many products within the niche as possible, and in going the route we're discussing, would I be potentially "shooting myself in the foot" by having a site that niche? (In contrast, I am thinking of the sites that were demo'd in the video: the snack helmets and the supplements sites, both of which appeared to be more like large indexes.) Any info/thoughts are very much appreciated! Thank you!

Oh wow Kyle, that was a really good video. I learned a lot. Thanks for explaining so well. Now, I have to think about what I’m doing with my website by narrowing down my specifics. One tip: If you ever upgrade that video training I would definitely put in the basketball 🏀 picture because everyone learns different and some people might prefer to see “how” you add it and what it looks like after its added - even though you did explain it. Just a suggestion. Otherwise wow I’m super excited to get started. You really make it simple to understand and I appreciate that. 😊

Picked my niche but am now wondering if it is still to broad? I picked "Painting Tools" because of my 27+ years experience in the trade. Should I narrow it down some more or even choose something different? I have to say I am not passionate about it and it definitely isn't fun. What do y'all think? Any advise or help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Ask yourself will I be happy and content writing about painting tools for years to come, I think it is a good niche but if your heart is not it you might find it hard to stick with it

Yes definitely pick something you are passionate about because that is what will give you motivation to keep going. It’ll give you enthusiasm and excitement. Ask everyone you know what the number one thing they think you’re passionate about and pick the top one if there’s many. I’d bet you’d be surprised at the answers. 😁

Oh and still do that niche of painting tools but after the passionate niche. I plan on doing something different later but I have to follow through with nutrition because I can’t stop talking about it!!! 😅

You know it is funny I tried all the things I was the most passionate about, but I ended up with a successful business with something I had no experience or interest at one time.

With years online I developed the skills I needed and it became an interest for me, and a way for me to help other people so that is where the passion eventually came in.

Sometimes your passions are not enough, you need to learn some skills before your true calling happens

Hey Steve - don't do something you're not going to enjoy - this new business of yours is something you're going to have to put a deal of sweat, tears and blood into it and, if you've no passion for the subject then you're going to run out of steam.

Do you have a hobby you like to talk about or a sport? Or is there something you want to find out more about - growing plants, taking vacations, fostering children, collecting fossils?

A niche can be anything at all - from tulips to mason jars, dishwashers to tailgating recipe ideas.

It's really up to you

I am very passionate about the health field, but it just was not meant for me to earn a living doing that. I still have much knowledge about health and a passion for it, but it just for some reason was not the right niche for me

If you could do anything you want to earn a living what would that be

Right on! Thanks! I totally get it now. Yea, painting tools might be for another day and time. And that's cool. I'm gonna re-think this for a minute or two. I think computer software for the gaming crowd would be lucrative but I wanna start with something alot simpler while I'm trying to learn this thing. I'll let you know!

Hey Steve, as an ex painter myself, I think painting tools would be an excellent niche because of your experience. To be honest, I think I would be passionate about any niche that has the potential to make money! But I'm new at this and hoping to learn from others too, so most definitely consider and value the comments of those with more experience at internet marketing. And Steve, one other thing....I bet my Purdy is bigger than your Wooster! (Haha, a joke for painters!)

I have several ideas for my niche and not sure which would be the better option.. I have been making money using many avenues such as selling platforms Ebay, Amazon, Etsy, Macari and Poshmark. So thought it could be something those lines??

Or currently experiencing menepause problems so I find my self on google searching relief for these symptoms so feel this would be more profitable.. Just an opinion would be awesome.

Hi - your first idea would be the make money online niche, helping others to find online types of income. This is very competitive, but you seem to have a lot of experience in this area, so it could work for you.

Menopause relief is a popular subject, and there is certainly plenty of advice you could give.

Ultimately, bear in mind you will be expected to write a lot of content, on your niche, so which one can you think of lots of topics about, and would enjoy writing about?

What is the niche that you are making money on that involves Ebay, Amazon, Etsy etc.? Also I know that I am only 16 and I have quite a ways to go before I reach menopause, but I know a thing or two. I think it it is a great idea! There are many people who have no idea how to relieve themselves of the symptoms. I knew a lady who talked about using peppermint oil. I'm not sure how exactly I just remember it being mentioned. It may work for some and it may not. This is a fantastic niche because you are literally targeting every single older aged woman which is a smart move. That's my opinion

Thanks for advice this was the niche I was leaning toward.. Ebay, Amazon I resell clothing I have a men's store and women's store and a hard good store. Amazon basically retail arbitrage and books and Etsy I do custom Vinyl T-shirts and all of these sites are money makers but was looking to shake things up for the New Year You can't grow if you don't change things up throughout your life.
