OK, awesome. You now have your niche, in other words, the direction for your brand & business. That is great and don't worry about this not being "perfectly clear" at this point, as you move forward the pieces of the puzzle are going to come together.

Starting with a big piece today, your website. We are going to be taking our niche idea and turning it into a tangible business starting with your website.

Building a Website Ain't Scary, It's FUN!

Building a website sounds like a "scary" process, but fortunately you have access to the most advanced, yet simplistic website platform in the world here at Wealthy Affiliate. We pride ourselves as a technology company here at Wealthy Affiliate and we are the industry leaders in the website development space.

I am not going to toot our horn any longer, I would rather you experience the website builder and platform for itself. The first step today is going to be building your website, which will literally take you less than 30 seconds.

Click the SiteBuilder link within the menu, and you are going to be ready to rock here (and complete the next task).

Below I have included a video walking you through the Website Platform (also knwn as SiteRubix) here at WA and showing you how quickly and efficiently you can build a website here at Wealthy Affiliate.

DISCUSS VIDEO: Building Your Websites in 30 Seconds, LIterally

Task 1: Build Your Website

Your website is your foundation of your business. It is where all of your traffic is ultimately going to come to, where you are going to build brand and trust within the industry, and where you can promote products/services and generate $$$!

The SiteBuilder platform here at WA is the most simplistic, yet advanced in the industry. It is going to take less than 30 seconds to get a fully operational, profit ready Wordpress website up and running online.

There are 4 steps in the website build process, that I am going to walk you through here. To access the SiteBuilder and EVERYTHING related to your website, you will simply click the light blue "SiteRubix" button in the main menu.

Step 1: Choose the Kind of Website

There are really TWO options here, on a FREE website or on your OWN domain. Ideally, you will have your own domain, but that can come with time.

You can "register" your very own domains right within Wealthy Affiliate using our state of the art SiteDomains platform, which will allow you to instantly set-up your own domain for your own use.

If you are just starting out as a Starter member, you will be building a website on the .siterubix.com domain, which is a completely free website. You can build and host up to 2 FREE websites as a Starter.

As a Premium member, you can build and host up to 25 free websites and the ability to create 25 sites on your own domains (total 50 websites). That is more than adequate to drive many multi-million dollar businesses over time.

For the sake of this training, we are going to be choosing "On a free domain".

Do know that within the Premium membership, you can easily MOVE a free .siterubix.com button to a registered domain (one you may own) using the "Premium Only" MOVE feature. So by all means start off with a free website and then down the road you can move it to your own domain.

Step 2: Choose a Domain

Remember last lesson when I chose my "niche". In this step, I am going to be choosing a name for my website and placing it in the "domain name" field. This is because this will be my website URL and my brand moving forward.

As you can see below, I have added my brand "how to lose belly fat today" into the domain field.

When you type in your domain, it will let you know if it is available or not. In my case it was, but if your first choice is not available simply do another search until you find a domain name that works for you.

You cannot put spaces in your domain name, hence why my domain is "howtolosebellyfattoday".

Step 3: Choose a Website Name

The name of your website should match your domain, but it just needs to be grammatically correct (with proper spacing). You can see below my example of this:

Domain: basketballskillsanddrills.stierubix.com

Title: Basketball Skills and Drills

It is as simple as that. Don't overthink this step, your title will be the same as your domain.

Step 4: Choose a Design

The last step is choosing a "look" for your theme. As a Starter member you will have access to 12, hand picked quality designs.

As a Premium Member though you will have access to over 2,464 designs (as shown below) or your website and there are always new designs being added to this daily. These are referred to as "Themes".

Choose a design that you like.

Click on the design you like, and then you will be able to build your site.

SiteRubix, a Next Level Website and Hosting Platform.

You are going to notice that there are many other website features allocated within the SiteRubix menu. I don't want to eat up too much of your time here, but it is important that you understand the incredible benefits of the SiteRubix platform.

The powerful hosting you have access you here is unparalleled in the Managed Wordpress hosting industry. We truly specialize here in providing a secure, robust and FAST platform for you to run your website.

We know that your website IS your business, and it is important that you have the most advanced technology to keep your business operating at 100% at all times of the day.

The following are just some of the powerful features included within the SiteRubix platform here at WA.

  • SiteManager (Starter & Premium)
  • SiteContent (Starter & Premium)
  • SiteBuilder (Starter & Premium)
  • SiteDomains (Starter & Premium)

To make your sites secure and fast, we have some SiteRubix EXCLUSIVE technologies to make sure your websites are operating at lightening speeds, but also in a very secure way that protects you from hackers, spammers, and all forms of erroneous attacks.

There you have it, the low down of the SiteRubix platform and you have your website officially up and running online. Exciting stuff!

As we move forward within the training we are going to be building out your website content, and working to get indexed and ranked in Google, Bing & Yahoo (and do so for free).

So started off in the bootcamp training but have had a change of direction. Suddenly getting clearer on my goals. I am branding myself and I have a brand name....yet I have 3 distinct niches under my brand name. Would I put these three different niches within my website or create subdomains. I am not keen on purchasing a different domain for each niche at this point in time. The niches all relate to me and do overlap and interconnect. Hope this makes sense.

I published the Privacy Policy and went back per the instruction, but can't seem to get to this page. Can anyone help please?
After you publish your Privacy Policy, you are going to want to log into the back office of your website (Wordpress Admin area) through the SiteManager or through SiteContent. When you are within the editor for this page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see the following settings.

So...I've been on and off here for the past week or so - wasn't too sure about it...however, I stuck it out (at a slack rate lol), cause why not? I just finished level 1 of my Online Entrepreneur Certification. It was full of flayvorrr. Loads of helpful information and easy to refer back to after my time away! It's so easy to become skeptical due to the scams out there and most places seem very "pitchy". This 1st level has taught me so much so I'm actually now very curious to see this all work. It's a realistic approach and has a genuine feel. Now I'm a premium and going to stick to it much more consistent this round. I actually can't wait to dive into the next lesson. 😂

For anyone reading, stick it out. I'm so lazy with reading, I thought I could skim through the first part but realised there's actually alot of vital information so well worth the read (plus there's videos). Don't be lazy! Do it right the first time. Don't give up. :) Wishing you very the best. :)

Hi! Don't skim over any part of the training. I am probably taking a little longer than many simply because (for the time since 2001) I finally "get" the system of working from the ground up, one step at a time, rather than trying to jump into the deep end. I'm learning to swim :-) As you say. Do it right the first time! Following you...

Thank you! :) Yes sometimes we have to learn to slow down and I'm glad I learnt that early on through the training. Well great things take time and I'm sure your steady approach is/will be rewarding. Makes it easier to retain information as well, I find. Well good luck to you! I'm now following your journey, thanks for the follow!

It's not just laziness that can cause us to miss things. I was so excited, I think I missed a lot in my eagerness to move forward. As soon as I completed a task, I checked it off and went to the next lesson. It probably would have been beneficial to pause and process along the way and tweak things a bit before moving ahead. I'm glad it's easy to go back and review.

Yes! I agree. It's so easy to have our eyes so fixated on the prize, or (in this case) the end result, so much that we forget the valuable steps in-between. Good things take time, patience and a few slow breaths to sooth the excitement and in my case a bit of consistency. It sounds like you have a positive take. Thank you for sharing and wishing you the best. :)

Hi everybody...got a simple question. I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I'm presently doing my first searches on Jaaxy and finding some nice numbers. But now and then I run into this <10 beneath the average searches per month. Sometimes (rarely) rather than a concrete number on the left column, this symbol and the number 10 appear, as the first listing. This listing usually includes a very very low QSR, such as 0, or 1, or 8. My question: what does <10 mean? Is this a good keyword or bad? I know the QSR is somewhat unbelievable. Enjoying every minute of learning....
Thanks in advance,
Andy
Reply
katkatskitchen Premium
It means that there are less than 10 searches a month. In other words Andy it's not worth going for it as a main keyword. You can put in your spreadsheet to be added as a secondary keyword in a related article

Thanks, more simple than I realized....

it could be that the keyword is very new - so if it is a new product - then there maynot be enough data on it yet.
or as catherine says - no one is searching for it.
if you run into this and feel that it is the keyword you want to use - type it into google and see what comes up in the google related or the google instant. and see if that is a better keyword.
good luck

Quick question I notice that the days for me to upgrade to Premium is slowly but surely running.I now have 3 days:18 hours and 23 mins. Does it mean that I will be locked out from building my website after the days run out and what are the monthly fees per month once my website is up and running? Kindly clarify please. I am now going through the site content tutorial!

You can keep working on your siterubix stie for as long as you want for free. You will not be locked out.
You will be limited in the training you can get if you do not go premium.
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - you can stay as a free starter for as long as you like, and still have access to your website, even when it is up and running. However, you will only have access to the first 10 lessons, which may not be enough for a successful business. The first month is $19, followed by $49 per month, and you can cancel at any time.
Reply
FranNicholls Premium
The up grade is well worth it when you are ready as you will have access to more videos and training. Just remember it is an expense to you and can be taken off for taxes as such. You can also stay as a free member
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
As others have noted, you will always have access to your free site as well as the first 10 lessons of the training program. You will lose access to the community, however.

If you are still on the fence but would like to see what all you get with the premium membership, as long as you sign up before the timer is us your first month is only $19. That's a pretty small investment and would give you plenty of time to go through the entire program and see if this is really for you.

Hope this heips :-)

1. You will not be locked out.
2. You will need premium to progress through the remainder of the training, and it is such a good idea to get it.
3. Join within seven days = $19 first month.
4. How you pay determines what you pay. Join on a monthly basis and it is $49 month. Pay up front and you can get it for as low as $29 a month.
I went monthly because that suited my pocket. I will pay more up front when I am further down the track, but for now I am happy with $49 a month. I live in New Zealand and with the exchange rate I budget for approximately NZ$20 a week, and what is there to not like about that?
Anyway, best of luck.

I have 2 related questions. I’m trying to decide if this is right for me. I have about 10 biz opps that I am promoting. They all have their own website so I don’t really need one. I just need to learn how to more effectively promote traffic.
Also if I do do this program my ideas for a niche would be. Cats, fitness/working out/trying to lose weight. , death of my mom was I was 9 by murder and murder. Victims or traumatic Brau. Injury which I suffered in. 2013, or maybe just trauma-the losss of my mom and my braininjufy. But I have no idea how that would be a profitable idea
I also have no idea how I will be able tib pay for premium membership. The little bit of money I have , about 3
.50 usd in btc, I have to use on. My existing biz. Oops. I have a partner and he rarely gives me money. So I have s feeling ill only be hrrr about 6 Mott days and then I’ll. Be gone.

Premium membership is wonderful but not necessary. You can start with your two free websites and work on creating quality content for them and upgrade to Premium later when it will not create a financial strain.

I knew without a doubt almost immediately that this was for me and I made some sacrifices to be able to upgrade. It may not be for you or it may be for you but later.

Good luck, whatever you decide!

I think you are lucky to have some things already working for you. Are your 10 biz opps making money for you yet? If not, You can learn so much here and I am sure it will help you even with what you have already developed.
When I first started two months ago, I took the free training and even before I finished the free training, I knew I was going to upgrade to Premium. There is so much that is offered here and the price per month/year is so reasonable. I wasted so much money in the past looking for a community/coach that would really help me, not just take my money.
I know it is difficult when there is no money. I have been there. You can take the free training, work with your two free websites and when money is better, you can upgrade. I highly recommend that you in vest in a program that works and this is that program as far as I am concerned.
I do wish you the best of luck in your choice and I know you can reach success. Good Luck. Linda

I want to make sure I understood correctly what a niche should be. When I went over the lesson I understood it as something very specific to a general hobby or interest you have. For example, if you like skateboarding, I thought the niche meant it would be skateboards, helmets, skateboarding shoes, or skateboarding clothes, etc. I didn't think the niche would be skateboarding because I understood that this would be too general? Is this correct or would skateboarding be the niche?

If that is the case, would you suggest starting a whole different website so that the url doesn't have a name specific to skateboarding shoes or skateboarding helmets for example?
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
Yes and no. Yes, you want to "niche down" with your content because it is easier to rank for more specific keywords. However, I always recommend "niching up" with your domain name. Here's what I mean...

Keep your content tight. Think of your niche as nothing more than a particular topic. So, in that sense, start with a single, specific niche (like skateboarding shoes in your example.) Then write a bunch of content around that topic. Once you start to rank and get steady traffic for that topic, you can branch out to the next one (helmets, clothing, etc.) That's where a more general domain name comes in.

By keeping the domain more general, you build in the room to expand into other topics later. The challenge with making a domain too keyword specific is you risk locking yourself into a tight niche. Then you run into trouble when you want to expand because no one will know your other topics are there, or you risk turning your readers off if they come expecting one thing and see a bunch of other "unrelated" posts.

It's late and I'm kind of tired, so hopefully I'm not rambling too much and this makes sense :-)
Reply
Sharriv Premium
skateboarding can be too general, there are allot of content like, shoes, helmets, bearings, wheels, the top anti slip liner etc. You can start small and work your way up. I to started broad and narrowed it down.

and remember to begin with the mindset to help out people before you want to start selling them products.

you want to gain trust before they even think about buying from you.
keep at it and do not give up.

good luck,

a question I have is when you want to buy something online, most people are going to go to google and type for amazon or walmart and they will get on to their website, how are people going to find your website ??? okay, unless you are giving someone courses??? how does this really work
Reply
Kari14 Premium
Say someone wants to know all about how to do their nails at home. How would you go about finding that information? Of course you would type in the Google bar--Nails or maybe how to do my nails. You would get a list of websites that you could choose from. This is where your website will be once you get INDEXED(I don't mean to yell this). On the first page for people to choose your site. That is what we are striving for, to get Indexed. Then whatever you have on your site is what they can purchase or you send them where they can. Hope I helped you out. Blessed Be
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
You are correct. People will typically go straight to Amazon and Walmart... IF they already know what they want. But many people aren't there yet.

There is this thing in business known as the purchase cycle. The end of the cycle is, of course, the person buying a product. But long before that there are various stages where people are curious, somewhat interested, researching, etc. Those are the people we're looking for.

People who haven't made up their mind or are still considering a purchase may do all kinds of research to see if it is really something they want. Your job is the figure out what questions they might have and answer those questions. If at that point they are comfortable with the purchase, they might just click on that nice convenient link you have sitting right there in front of them :-)
Reply
feigner Premium
i tend to disagree - you first identify a need - then you find that there is something to fill that need - then you look for the best one - and that is where your site comes in - to help others find the best solution for their problem.
they may click through - and will find themselves on amazon - so trust the site and buy.
but you need to show that you know what you are talking about by giving away info - not jsut products.
people now research more than just jump into a shop - they are looking for more now.
the business model does work
good luck

Ok, if i want to promote seveal different products off clickbank, how am I going to come close to writing blogs for say 10 different products or more. Or if I am promoting Amazon products, there is no way to just stay within the realm of my interests. Just because I like anything doesn't mean it is the most profitable product affiliate product off clickbank to promote? A bit lost here.
Reply
AlexisB86 Premium
The training digs deeper into this in level 3, lesson 6. You can write a review for one product or you can write one post where you review several similar products. You can review any products, but its important to stay within your niche so you can organically promote the products and link reviews to your content pages. Your goal is to provide meaningful content that helps your readers, and the promoting products and reviews are a byproduct of that helpful info (content) you create.
Hope this helps!
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - don't be thinking of just how you can promote high-ticket items, or as you say, the readers will soon realise that you have no interest in the product.

Firstly, you need to choose your niche, a subject you are genuinely interested in. You will be writing purely informational articles, with no promotions to start with. Then you can write reviews of products which tie into your niche.

Say, for example, your niche is all about dogs. You might write articles about how to train your dog or what vaccinations it might need. You could then write reviews on dog-related products. People would read your articles and reviews, and then hopefully purchase through your link.

Hi,
I’m not an advanced marketer yet but will do everything to achieve this goal and become independent. I think any niche can be perfect but the best is
• to find something you like - so that you’d enjoy the ’work’ and
• you know a lot about so that you could share your personal experiences with your future customers.
’Personal Development Industry’ seems to be such a niche for you bt at the beginning it seems to be too broad so I’d narrow it. Nowadays there are a great deal of digital products so I’m sure if you learn the ’hows’ here, you’ll be successful in this niche. Wishing you good luck and success,

Hey Neel, Sounds like you know your direction which is great. The PD niche is good but very competitive. In the training here our aim is to choose sub niches to begin with so that these can rank in the search engines and get traffic organically. Then in time expand the niche as your site grows.

So maybe choose a domain name that is generic across the PD niche but pick one of the five topics you mention and concentrate on this until you get some momentum.

Amazing potential with this Neel :)

This system is very interesting and I can't wait for the next lesson. I think the hardest for me will be first: the niche, 2nd the content of the website. I really like the example of the snack helmet and wonder how the person came up with this idea? Is the training going to help with the selection of cool ideas like that? how about ideas like the person has on that website with recipes that can be used for the snack helmet? Are there other examples on WA to look at? I'm very new at this and going to need a lot of help to build my first website and make it interesting and appealing like that...but I'm hopeful :) and super excited to be learning more about building website and make it rank well on google. What's the best way to pick up a niche? trending? These may be stupid questions but I need to ask...
Thanks in advance for the answers,

The best way to pick a niche is to think about what you love enough to write about it regularly. What sort of websites do you like to visit? That might give you some ideas. Think about your hobbies. Many WA bloggers have links to their websites on their profile pages but I think that might be more of a distraction than a help. You will be writing informative articles without promoting anything sometimes, so keep that in mind.

I love the step by step instructions given by Kyle which allows me to learn at my own pace and practicing as many times as I need to understand every lesson, and since that was so good I decided to become Premium member, I know I'm gong to learn a lot more and in time I will reach one of my goals: make $100 a week o at least a month!. The training says you do not need to allow the plugin to track usage (in order for them to improve). I'd like to know if there a problem with allowing this? Are you actually recommending against it or just saying it is not necessary if we don't want to share? Is there any risk in allowing this tracking if it is for improvements?
Reply

You can allow it if you wish. I chose no as it's just one more thing that uses resources. Granted, it's a very small resource use, but still.

Can my niche be a concept or does it need to be based around a product area? I was thinking of going with a blog about my narcissist mother as I have plenty of content ideas but that's not a physical thing. So I thought I'd promote self help books, self care products and art. But do I need to read every book out there before promoting it?? Do I need to buy every product I promote? If not, how can I genuinely recommend products and make money from them in good conscience? And is this topic/these products too broad?
Reply
StefanC Premium
Hi, it's good to have an idea of which type of products you will promote. But your niche should be based on a topic of your interest. Do a research on affiliate programs in your niche and decide whether it offers a good profit margin. Digital products like training usually pay higher commissions. Books offer lower commission rate and thus, your website traffic needs to be much higher. You have the freedom to talk about products through your research even if you dont buy them. Just be honest and helpful when expressing your thoughts about the products.

I hope this helps, but If you have more questions, just let me know.
Reply
Hi, thank you for replying. What is considered a good commission? Around 5%?
Reply
StefanC Premium
No problem! I consider $20+ per sale a good affiliate commission. You can achieve $20+ by promoting more expensive items or choosing an affiliate program pay pays a higher percentage.

For example, to earn the same revenue, you will need 2x more traffic if you earn $20/sale compared to $10/sale.

From my experience, selling products that will pay you double is much easier than doubling your traffic.

Never a good idea to make it personal (as in a relative), much better to just use the subject matter, otherwise you may find that you put people off reading your site.

Hi, I already have a domain and website through Wix. It does need to be redone completely. If I move my website over to WA, can I move it back out at anytime or do you own the rights to the templates we use? I want to be complete owner of my work if, at any point, I want to sell it, move it, etc. Thanks, Laura
Reply

Sure, you can. You are in full control and you can move your website to any host that you want.

In saying this, the Managed Wordpress hosting you have access to here at WA is matched by very few hosts in the industry in terms of quality, security, speed, and support. It definitely is not a budget host like the other shared hosting companies out there. The hosting you get here at WA is comparable to $250 per MONTH hosting packages.

You can learn more about it here:

http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/hosting/

You can host up to 25 of your own domains and 25 free .siterubix.com websites on your Premium hosting platform here at WA.

Just keep following the training. In later lessons you will learn how to "run the numbers" during your research to see whether your initial idea is too big, too small, or just right. For now, just think about what passions or interests you have. Think about a topic (niche) that you will be able to create a lot of content on and 1) not run out of ideas, and 2) not get burned out doing.

Hi everyone In regards to a keyword search on jaaxy in my chosen niche i found these figures.

for me that set of figures would say information gathering rather then a long way down the buying chain.
so if you are after creating an informational article - go for it.
just check who is on page one and whether you can beat any of them - if not - leave it alone.
if page one is full of ecom big stores then you are unlikely to get in there.
you really are looking for the sort of figures talked about in the training.
the low hanging fruit which is of no interest to large companies or high authority sites.
so have a look at the keyword and decide where it is in the buying cycle. is it right for your site and can you move them from there along the buying cycle towards someone who clicks through on an affiliate link.
good luck if you go for it

Thanks Phil Your response makes a lot of sense and that was what i was sensing. After looking into the first page of the product we have a lot of big ecom stores . There are a few information and review sites are very comprehensive and i can honestly say hard to beat in that regard. So !! the big question is What kind of other strategy can be used to tap in? or am i just wasting my time ??
Reply
feigner Premium
no you are not wasting your time at all.
another strategy is to go for that keyword if it is a product keyword and create a review - tutorial- info on it and then choose several low hanging fruit keywords surrounding it.
these low hanging fruit articles you will be able to get ranked and visitors coming in- you link from them to your main one and visitors may click through - this does 2 things - one may get you sales and 2 google gets to know that your main page is important.
but the prize is to get your articles onto page one of google - ideally pos 1-3 otherwise no traffic.
it takes time with the number you need to produce and selecting the low hanging fruit, but it does work and get you there- with stamina.
go after the higher volumes and, as you have found, if you are on page 2 the visitor has already gone to another site- no traffic.
this is the reason i have now changed my keyword research to the above tactic and it appears to work - even with new sites.
a site with three or four articles and one review ranking at pos 33
site only two months old. so now what i have got to do is to write lhf articles boosting helping boost the review and push it up in the ranking.
i heard the other day that there are three stages for ranking - first machine read which will take two to three weeks - first major ranking - takes up to 12 weeks and 90% final ranking takes upto 34 weeks - so after this if you are not happy with the ranknig - creaet a new article redirect the old articles and go through the loop again.
good luck

Finding a good niche seems like a tough task, but it's actually pretty easy. Actually, ANY niche can make money, so you definitely should not worry if your niche is profitable or not. As far as competition goes, that's also something to not worry about. If there's competition, it just means people are making money. That means you can make some too! As time progresses, new products come out, new technology is introduced, new ideas formed, and each change is an opportunity for "the new kid" to get a foothold and overtake established websites.

So the big question is not "what" is going to make money, but "what do you want to make money with?"

In other words, what are your own interests?
What do you think would be interesting to research and write about?
What do you want to help people with?

A good sentence to help you decide your niche is "I want to help people _____"

Helping people is the best way to make money in any business. Everyone wins. Short of that, pick something that you just find interesting.

There are literally thousands of affiliate programs, products, and ways to make money in any niche or industry if you get creative. All of that will come into focus in Level 3 of your training, so for now, we just need to look at getting your topic chosen, your website built, and then start creating awesome content for your business!

I'm struggling to choose a niche... I have a family (husband and 3 sons under 10) and FT job (which I love, but its in pharmaceutical research/development, process improvement and training/team support, so doesn't feel quite right for a "public" niche - and could probably get me in trouble if I say the wrong thing!). I don't really have any (current) hobbies, although I do try to exercise and I would love to travel more. I hardly ever do, except for work/business trips - usually always to the same European city, and I never get time to see anything when there!... I feel like I used to loads of stuff - gymnastics as a child/teenager, (I was good and one of my sons is also now a keen gymnast), dancing, swimming, scuba diving, skiing, snowboarding! And I did travel in my 20's, Asia, South America and lived in Australia for almost a decade, but that's my "past" and previously exciting life! Right now I feel like I just "get by" juggling life! ... Any ideas?!

I do like helping people, and I'm a pretty big believer in "you get out what you put in" (or "you get back what you put out") so try to be positive but fairly often fail whilst juggling life with my four crazy boys (and yes - I definitely include my hubby in that group!)

What about a site involving work travel? This is just off the top of my head but what about offering tips and tricks for the work traveler? Things like planning your flights to provide a time to relax or ways to do some sightseeing while traveling for work?

I'm not sure how to monetize it off-hand....maybe partnering with destination attractions or ticketing services, ride sharing companies and so on. Maybe offering affiliate links to items of use to the work traveler (i.e. suitcases with battery packs, etc.)

Just a thought. Since you do it, what can you think of that might work?
Reply
SaraElliott Premium
What about the gymnastics world? There is a lot of attention on the sport lately (good and bad) and since you have first hand knowledge of being a gymnast and also being the parent of a gymnast, I would think that could give you a great niche to start with! Also, remember that your 1st niche or website doesn't have to be your only one!

And you could monetize it by using affiliate links to all kinds of things; equipment, additional training, clothing, hand/foot wraps, floor mats, etc.

Keep us updated! Hope you find something that works for you!

Thanks! This is definitely something I'm considering, I already started to research a bit on other "gym mums", most have girls so there probably is a bit of an opening for a "boy gymnast mum"... he actually does a ton of other pretty "non-traditional" activities for a boy - dancing (currently ballet and modern, but now wants to start tap too!), drama and singing, diving (from a board/platform into a pool - not scuba!!)... I think there could be something here as I always struggle to find clothes for him suitable for his dance and gymnastic training... it's always so.... girly!... and he just... isn't!! He is not yet 8, absolutely solid/ripped (will beat his 9 year old brother in any strength contest, even though his brother is also strong and an orange belt in kick boxing!!). He's just totally "found his niche" in these activities!... hmmm, I'll definitely have to build on that thought!

.siterubix is not a www.domain.com website. You can purchase a domain name from WA for about $13.99/year. When you do that, you will be able to have a website without .siterubix as part of the website address. There's no rush to purchase a domain name. Everything will transfer over easily when you are ready. I wouldn't bother to purchase a domain name unless you are going to become a premium member. My time is running out to ask questions. I’m struggling to find a niche that I want to write about and will have affiliate products. (I’m an author and am
Passionate about writing but there are few affiliate programs for writing fiction and fiction writers don’t spend a lot because we make little money writing fiction). I am just stumped. And since my hubby lost his job, I’m hesitant to sign up for premium without a solid niche plan. I thought about fitness but I’m not certified in any fitness area nir do I have medical training. I thought about parenting but I’m not sure there are enough affiliate programs to make any money. I’m feeling a little discouraged.

it sounds like you are really passionate about writing - but can you write articles about that for the next yer at a rate of one or two a week?
just googled writing fiction course affiliate program and a few popped up so...
on the back of this you could create your own course.
i have read the two barbara baig books and found them very helpful - so amazon is your friend here.
plan out your site a little - similar to a novel with the categories as chapters and the articles as subchapters (?)
go for about 100 articles within 8-10 categories and see what you come up with - check out fb groups to see if what they want is the same as what you think they want.
but yes be sure before committing, i would invest for the year - it is almost half price.
even if you don't start here and go for hosting elsewhere then you will be close to the price per month here, so it really is worth the money, but do you have it spare - if no then what about writing articles for others for money and using that to fund this? check out fiverr and other places where you can sell your time and skills.
but i wish you well.
don't forget some members have created fb groups - to extend your talk time!

All the aspects of this niche is workable and as popular.
I look from the prospective, that people want to be healthy. Choices choices lol

Yes, fitness as a whole is a huge niche and extremely competitive. It would takes years -- and maybe never -- to get to a level where you could compete with Men's Health, LiveStrong, Planet Fitness and other massive brands.

What you need to do is break it down. Think about what specific area of health you are interested in. For example, I see from your bio that you are a physical therapist. That's a start. Now break it down further. Who would you like to work with? Perhaps you could create a site about physical therapy for seniors, physical therapy for veterans, physical therapy for for kids, etc.

You can keep your website name a bit larger so you can expand into other areas as you grow, but definitely target a specific audience with your content until you build an audience with that group before moving into another area.

Hope this helps.

Hi guys, just a couple of questions. Do you earn money from people clicking on your website and links.. or from someone buying the product you were advertising in your website and getting a percentage of it? If you earn money from people buying the product you're advertising, what if they don't click on your affiliate link and buy the product, do you still earn a percentage or not?
Reply

If they are affiliate links they will need to click and make a purchase.

If CPA links then they may only have to sign up or even visit a website for your to get paid.

If you have google ads on your site then just clicking these will generating money for you.

Trust this helps

Your affiliate link is your way to make money. If they click on your link say to Amazon for a water hose then they open another browser window and go straight to Amazon and search for water hose. They then purchase the item through their search. Since they did not buy through your link, you would not be paid. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone. So I just started off with this new journey.
There is a big question that I'm struggling with.

I stay in Africa. And sometimes it's not easy to do banking here. So what is the best way of setting up your account details for payments ECT.

Thank you so much for your input :)

Hi - if you intend to promote Wealthy Affiliate itself by signing up new members, then the commission is paid into PayPal.

If you are hoping to promote products by signing up to affiliate programs such as Amazon, you will need to read their terms and conditions as to how they make payments.

Good evening, hope everyone has had a great day. Ho estly i was looking into something completely different when i started this evening.
However, I've thought about writing a book about this subject.
Just never seemed plausible.
This seemed like a difference avenue.
I know it's a strange subject. I just think that it's a subject that people don't talk about openly.
However, they soon will be in so deep that they will be overwhelmed.
Maybe, some social services , daycare, insurance companies. Maybe even doctors.

That not my issue, my issue is how a person needs to protect themselves, so that they can do the best job of caring for the individual that is truly scared at what is happening.

You have lots of ideas here. Your niche ideas are definitely viable directions for your niche. You need to choose one when starting out, what are you most passionate about?

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

Hi - welcome to wa.
once you start getting referrals - as long as you are talking about wa - you get paid on the first of the month.
when you signup for premium you will pay either through paypal or credit card.
if you pay with paypal then you get paid into the same account.
you can add those details under your account settings - click on your image top left and select account settings.
details of the affiliate program are under the dollar symbol at the top right.

As I move forward here I've noticed more and more that the Lessons push you harder to go premium. I don't mean to be a stick in the mud but when I signed up people were saying it wasn't necessary to go premium, rather you could stay as a starter to gain some footing and see some monetary success. I'm starting to feel duped.

Hi - it isn't necessary to go premium, but it will undoubtedly be more difficult to succeed as a free member, but it can be done. Obviously, at the moment you only have access to the first 10 lessons, and after the first week, you won't be able to ask questions of the community.

Have you thought about trying the first month at $19? You then have access to all the training and other benefits, so if you take advantage of this, and get as much done as you can, you will have a solid foundation for your website.

I ended up having similar feelings when I began recently. The good thing is that I am promoting something that already makes me some $. I stuck with the free account until I felt that I had some decent content that would likely get me some needed traffic to my items. I finally took the leap of faith and went premium. I must say I am very impressed by all that is offered. The only thing I can say is make sure you have the time to put in to avoid it being a waste of money. As with anything, the more you put in, the more you get.

First off, I'd be at a complete loss as to what to do and how to best get my website seen by the most amount of people. It's not that I'm a total loss on website upkeep etc, more the fact that there are so many variables within learning all this.

In my own personal opinion, the Premium membership is well worth it. I consider it an investment in myself and my own personal growth.

Just follow the training program step-by-step and try not to move on to the next lesson until you have completed all the recommended tasks and checked them off the checklist. This is important because later lessons are often built on the foundation work you did previously.

If you have and questions or need anything, please don't hesitate to ask. We're all here to help :-)

Hi Whitney, I would like to tell you to be patient with yourself. It sounds like your just beginning your adult life. You can doing anything you want. Being in sped programs, is ok. Good afternoon to everyone! I've been struggling a bit more than i want to admit. I thought the niche bit would come a bit more easily.....but too many ideas kept jumping up and colliding in my brain...I'm sure it's not a unique problem., haha! Anyway, I've sat with it for a while. I'm really on a journey, like most here, of learning to empower myself and live the best possible life. To this end I thought about a website where I could discuss ( and promote relevant informational and other products) things like mindset, simplifying your life, beneficial tools and strategies like journalling, establishing and maintaining personal boundaries, taking personal responsibility/removing victim mentality, looking after your health etc etc.... It's essentially a site about empowering yourself to create a wonderful life. I'm really passionate about this .
What do you think?
My 12 year old son also wants to help me create a website about Caring for Guinea Pigs. Should this be narrowed down a bit?
Thank you much!!

Hi Lyndal,

Thank you for your question. I think it's quite normal to have many ideas spinning around in our brain when I have an idea I will often write it down and sometimes these ideas are not for right now but for the future. We cannot do everything at once, I know that I have to be careful as I have many ideas, but we have to work on one project and carry out one step at a time.

All I can really say about your niche is to do something that you are passionate about and have knowledge about. Writing becomes so much easier when you know your subject and you have a passion for it. I would never enter into a niche just for the money, some people disagree with me, but I want to share knowledge about the things I am passionate about.

I hope this helps.

Enjoy your day.

Hi, I do have a question. I would like clarification on the "Upgrade to Premium" tab that I see where it shows 5days:20hrs.8min.
$49. is cross out, replaced by $19. "1st month discount time left".
What I want to know is: Will I be able to pay monthly, should I choose to upgrade my account?
But... what happens if I do not choose to upgrade the account at this time. Am I locked out completely?

ATC08 Premium
Hi,
Hope you well and welcome to WA.

To answer your question, right now you are enjoying some of the features of being a premium member, for instance, where you can ask questions at any time and to anyone you wish. but when that timer ends that feature will be limited if you have not yet upgraded to premium by then. The timer of 5days:20hrs:8mins is the time you are remaining with to upgrade to premium for only $19 for the first month. When the timer reaches 0days:0hrs:0mins and you have not upgraded to premium yet, the amount will revert back to the normal monthly upgrade or subscription of $49 per month.

I will advice that you take this opportunity of upgrading for $19 while you still have some time and enjoy the very best premium membership can provide you with.

I can assure you that you won't regret it doing it while that timer is still giving you that massive discount at least for the first month, if you don't like what is in premium you can cancel at any time but am sure this is the right place to where you can really achieve your goals by just following suit with the training and putting what you have learned into practice.

All the very best and enjoy every moment of it and in case you get stuck never look elsewhere but just ask and the WA community will be there to help.

Cheers,
Brian

In your site dashboard, go to Appearance > Menus. You will see a small column on the left that shows all your "stuff" (posts, pages, etc.). Select all the things you want to show and click the "Add to Menu" button. You should see them all added to the big column on the right. Make sure under Menu Settings the box marked "Primary Menu" is checked. Go back to your homepage and refresh. Everything should be showing now.

Thanks Aj! That helped some but I’m still having trouble on the hiero template adding anymore than the one main menu tab on my navigational part of the page (top menu) unless the “main menu” location is actually the TOP menu ie navigational part of the page..

I think it’s just the software not working on the iPhone. It won’t allow me to add anything other than “menu” drop tab with two sub tabs (privacy policy and about me) and won’t let me add another navigational menu/tab what have you... and now it won’t even let me click on my sub tabs I JUST made and refreshed three times. ?? With youth clothes, I would go moderate and a few lines to start based on the season now or coming up. Jackets for boys or girls and hats seem to be in for both. Caps for the guys and girls, of course, a little more variety. Walk the malls and stores see what's out there and compare online.
For little children babies, toddlers up to 5 you can do same but have other accessories. Hope that gives you a few ideas. If you have kids ask their opinion if old enough.

I seem to be having bad luck with theme selection. The first one had a PHP Fatal error, so I picked a new theme. But as I'm trying to follow along with the tutorial of creating custom menus, my menu options are not set up the same way as they are in the tutorial. I've never set up a website before, so its becoming really confusing. For instance, the Side Bar that is supposed to have a Search, Recent Posts, Recent Comments, Archives, Categories is showing up under widgets as an inactive sidebar and says it is no longer available.

When I try to pick another theme I get a 'Bad Request'. Ugh, I'm feeling stuck on this step...
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
Forget about "pretty" for now; you're still in learning mode.

I ALWAYS recommend that if you aren't not already very familiar with WordPress that you use the theme Kyle is using in the lessons. This will allow for instant feedback. He shows you what to do, you do it, and then if your site doesn't look exactly like his you know you missed something.

Sometimes even the smallest thing -- like a missed checkbox, for example -- can yield drastically different results. But if you don't have experience with WP you wouldn't even notice.

If you haven't bought a domain don't worry, you can move your website to your domain which you will chose the name of your domain, for example you could be using, beautylady.siterubix dotcom, and then when you buy your domain you call it divastylesdotcom when you move the beutylady to divastyles, that will be your website, because that is the name of the domain, which means you will not be able to change it so divastyles will be your final website.

I've been toying with a few potential niches based off things that I'm passionate about and personally enjoy (eg travel, watersports, art, gardening) but I'm thinking things like these are probably too broad? Would it be a more effective idea to zoom in to say, succulent terrariums instead of gardening?
Reply

Hi, Jessica, that is the way to go, drilling down into a niche can help to create focus, gardening is a very broad niche topic whereas your example offers a very targeted niche.

One of the things to bear in mind, when deciding about which niche to go with is will you be able to create content on a regular basis and also will you enjoy doing that.

Within the subject of choosing our own niches- I was wondering if choosing "subscription boxes" would be a good topic to go into. To go in further in detail, many men and women are currently obsessed with monthly subscription boxes; some are for health, beauty, clothes, books, makeup etc. I for one have searched the internet for reviews or websites that can help educate me on which boxes would benefit myself most. Would this topic be too broad? Should I narrow it down like " subscription boxes for women" or pick a certain category like book subscriptions or makeup subscriptions?

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read or respond to my questions. I am looking forward to your thoughts!
Reply
ItsRyan Premium
I think this is a great niche to get into. Yes it can be a bit wide, you can start out focused on subscription boxes for makeup as a category and then build out one for books, and then other topics. Become a hub for subscription boxes. Build it until early November and then market hard during the holiday seasons and you're a success.

And what do I do with the key word searches? How do I put them in my website so I get noticed by google? Do I just write a paragraph about that my word phrase on my website? Do I just put the words in a page on my website? What do I do?

You take your keywords and use 1 phrase as the topic and title of a post. Also mention/use the keyword phrase in the first paragraph or two on your post. Then write the rest of your post as you see fit. Google will search your post based on its title and relatedness to its topic.

I set up my website but how do I get the links and advertisements on my website to make money? The only way you make money is through people going through your website to a link and buying something, but if I don’t have links or advertising my website is worthless. How do I know make money?

There are many ways to make money through your site and the training here will cover the different ways to make money with your site and how to use them. But...simply put...search for affiliate networks, sign up for one, get your hoplink, use it on your site for text links or use their banners in a side widget and there you go.

I'm brainstorming domain name ideas and don't box myself into a corner as I start to expand my niche in the future. Would you go with something that has more broad keywords like easyhealthylife .com OR make it more personal such as mysimplehealthylife .com?
(These are examples, not the actual names I would use.)

I would make something that is easily remembered, cheche and related to the niche. It does not matter if it gets any searches or not.

I always teach to go "big" with the domain name, and "small" -- or niche -- with the actual content. This allows you to target a tight audience, which limits your competition, but also allows you to grow into other areas related to your domain.

what about incorporating your name into it - unless you intend to sell it in the future.
so laurenshealthylife or similar
don't foget jaaxy - but that will sue up valuable searches.
try namemesh or leandomainsearch for inspiration.
good luck

If i don't want to be a premium member so how can i progress in my mission in developing my website?
I am a new member of this site and did not know anything about establishing a website and learned every thing here but now because of some issues i cant join premium level so what should i do now?

Work through the issue, man and get that Premium membership. Them two little girls are gonna get pretty expensive. You can develop a website without Premium, but hey, you can build a house without a hammer, but it's a whole lot harder and takes a whole lot longer.

If your mission is only to create a website, then you're utilizing only a fraction of WA feature.
This is the reason, as soon you enroll, WA asked your "Money Goals" And how much time you're planning to commit to achieve them.
Therefore, fix your goals. Frame your own game plan towards achieving them and WA will surely help you achieving the same.
Go to premium, if you truly commit to achieve your goals.

I used to be a student several years in the past and would like to rejoin, but now I am retired and need to earn a living through affiliate marketing, as I have had strokes and my level of learning is less and my level of being mobile is nearly impossible.
Do you have a senior discount for seniors on Social Security and/ or have limited fiances at this time.
Thank you so much,

This would have been a wonderful thing to have, in my opinion. :) But unfortunately, this would just create more work for the team at WA, with having to go through paperwork for people to prove that they are on Social Security or reduced income.

Think of it this way; this platform is available for 193 countries over the whole world. Which government law should this company go by in terms of Social Security? Can't choose a country's law and apply it for the whole world, right?

And also, for the number of things you get here, from the training, ongoing live classes, webhosting and SSL certificates, security, 24/7 support and so much more, you won't get the price of $49 per month anywhere else.

So WA is really as good as it gets and as cost-effective as it gets too.

Totally understandable, Justin. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm happy that things are slowly falling back together in your life though.

The key with WA is to follow the training and to take action on what you learn. That's really all there is to it. Keep faith, think positive and keep working on it.

I've done 8 keyword searches with the best words and phrases I can think of and not one gives me the criteria you're saying to look for. I could easily blast through the 30 allotted, so if I can't find any is this even worth trying? My product is only a 2 year old, relatively unknown, neurotechnology which is only available through network marketing so I was expecting this to be easy compared to the multitude of common products most people are promoting. Would love some suggestions please.

That might be part of the problem, relatively unknown. Can you try searching for conditions/instances where this neutotechnology would be of benefit?

Good keywords for you that target your audience are how voxx socks work for example. Just start by doing a search on any question that you think you would want answered if you were searching. You want to target people who are in the right stage of the buying cycle. People who are just looking for more info. I have attached a screen shot of a quick search in google. What comes up is what we call alphabet soup. Google spits out what people are searching for. Don’t worry so much about traffic, if you have only 10 who cares at least you will know you will get these people and every search will provide even more targeted buyers.

Thanks @merlynmac I thought there would be way too much competition for those keywords on their own. But Mike just gave me the key I hope - how does Voxx work for...
