OK, awesome. You now have your niche, in other words, the direction for your brand & business. That is great and don't worry about this not being "perfectly clear" at this point, as you move forward the pieces of the puzzle are going to come together.

Starting with a big piece today, your website. We are going to be taking our niche idea and turning it into a tangible business starting with your website.

Building a Website Ain't Scary, It's FUN!

Building a website sounds like a "scary" process, but fortunately you have access to the most advanced, yet simplistic website platform in the world here at Wealthy Affiliate. We pride ourselves as a technology company here at Wealthy Affiliate and we are the industry leaders in the website development space.

I am not going to toot our horn any longer, I would rather you experience the website builder and platform for itself. The first step today is going to be building your website, which will literally take you less than 30 seconds.

Click the SiteBuilder link

within the menu, and you are going to be ready to rock here (and complete the next task).

Below I have included a "Building Your Website in Under 30 Seconds" video walking you through the Website Platform (also known as SiteRubix) here at WA and showing you how quickly and efficiently you can build a website here at Wealthy Affiliate.

Task 1: Build Your Website

Your website is your foundation of your business. It is where all of your traffic is ultimately going to come to, where you are going to build brand and trust within the industry, and where you can promote products/services and generate $$$!

The SiteBuilder platform here at WA is the most simplistic, yet advanced in the industry. It is going to take less than 30 seconds to get a fully operational, profit ready Wordpress website up and running online.

There are 4 steps in the website build process, that I am going to walk you through here. To access the SiteBuilder and EVERYTHING related to your website, you will simply click the light blue "SiteRubix" button in the main menu.

Step 1: Choose the Kind of Website

There are really TWO options here, on a FREE website or on your OWN domain. Ideally, you will have your own domain, but that can come with time.

You can "register" your very own domains right within Wealthy Affiliate using our state of the art SiteDomains platform, which will allow you to instantly set-up your own domain for your own use.

If you are just starting out as a Starter member, you will be building a website on the .siterubix.com domain, which is a completely free website. You can build and host your own FREE website as a Starter.

As a Premium member, you can build and host up to 10 websites (including websites on your own domain). That is more than adequate to drive many multi-million dollar businesses over time and our hosting platform is industry leading in terms of speed, security, and reliability...all critical factors to running a successful online business.

For the sake of this training, we are going to be choosing "On a free domain".

Do know that within the Premium membership, you can easily MOVE a free .siterubix.com button to a registered domain (one you own) using the "Premium Only" MOVE feature. So by all means start off with a free website and then down the road you can easily move it to your own domain.

Step 2: Choose a Domain

Remember last lesson when I chose my "niche". In this step, I am going to be choosing a name for my website and placing it in the "domain name" field. This is because this will be my website URL and my brand moving forward.

As you can see below, I have added my brand "how to lose belly fat today" into the domain field.

When you type in your domain, it will let you know if it is available or not. In my case it was, but if your first choice is not available simply do another search until you find a domain name that works for you.

You cannot put spaces in your domain name, hence why my domain is "howtolosebellyfattoday".

Step 3: Choose a Website Name

The name of your website should match your domain, but it just needs to be grammatically correct (with proper spacing). You can see below my example of this:

Domain: basketballskillsanddrills.stierubix.com

Title: Basketball Skills and Drills

It is as simple as that. Don't overthink this step, your title will be the same as your domain.

Step 4: Choose a Design

The last step is choosing a "look" for your theme. As a Starter member you will have access to ONE theme that has been hand picked for quality, speed, security, and overall theme design.

As a Premium Member though you will have access to over 4,134 designs (as shown below) or your website and there are always new designs being added to this daily. These are referred to as "Themes".

Choose a design that you like.

Click on the design you like, and then you will be able to build your site.

SiteRubix, a Next Level Website and Hosting Platform.

You are going to notice that there are many other website features allocated within the SiteRubix menu. I don't want to eat up too much of your time here, but it is important that you understand the incredible benefits of the SiteRubix platform.

Sounds like a good niche.
Are you passionate about it?
I suggest you look on Google at a few websites in that niche and do a few different searches. You want to see if there are any small websites in the SERP's of page 1-2 of Google. If it is ONLY big authority websites that you can see, then it's harder for you to outrank those. Big Authority might include IREI in USA, Kathmandu, Mountain Designs in Australia
But try this for a few (>5) search phrases for products or searches in that niche that you think people would be looking for.

But otherwise, if you're passionate about this, it sounds good.

It's a great niche, if you discuss camping areas you could do reviews on cabin and camping accommodation as well. Jim

I think it's narrow enough. I like that one.

That niche Is never going to die and it’s very good the only thing is that I personally think that because of COVID-19 situation and all it might be a little bit harder at the moment
Reply
I'm sure that's quite true world wide, it's a little bit the opposite here in Finland.

Very many people here are escaping the outdoors the forrest and wilderness places.

However with the language barrier I've no idea how to reach this limited audience.

That’s good for you than.you should go for it than after all soon or late it will change world wide as well i.and about the narrowing as long as it’s connected directly to your niche it will be ok

I would like to help you but unfortunately I’m just starting my self and I’m not informed enough yet

G'day Jim thanks for the feedback.
it's probably obvious i'm new here.
Having looked at your profile and bio I'd really like to hear about your time and experience here at Wealthy Affiliates.

All the best

Isn't it bad if the traffic is low too?
The rule says that your keyword search should have an AVG over 30, and a QSR less than 100.
When I find keywords that meet that criteria; the traffic is often really low.
For example; if the traffic is 7; wouldn't that mean only 7 people a month would visit your site?

That is true - but the thing to remember is that it all adds to the overall total of your traffic.

Organic traffic is a long game.

I have no hesitations using a keyword with lower traffic numbers.

That's just in the beginning, for new sites that are still getting indexed. After a few months you can go for a higher QSR.

I believe I have done everything on my end to increase the
sound volume i.e. set my computer volume to 100%, set web site to 100% and connected my bluetooth hearing aid to my computer and I am still having issues hearing and understanding presenter's (Kyle) presentation.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello friends!
I have two serious questions and I would like to get some insight:

Why or how will the potential customers end up on my webpage instead of going directly to amazon and look for products there? That's what I do most of the time...

And how am I going to compete with other "10 best xxx" webpages that cover the same niche? Especially when often these "best such and such" articles are posted on famous and reputable webpages and I am just a somebody with one webpage and no reputation.

TIA!

Hi Barbora. If you do the training these questions will be answered.
Ask yourself another question. Why are Amazon so eager to have an affiliate marketing program. If blogging didn't work, they wouldn't bother. As for competing with their bloggers. That's why you learn about keywords and use Jaaxy. You find those words and phrases that gave low competition. Jim

Hi Jim,
thank you for your answer, it makes sense. I am curious to learn more.

Going to Amazon directly suggests that you already know what you're looking for... So, what if you don't know what you're looking for? What do you do?

You run a search in a search engine & figure out what it is you need to solve your problem :)

Example - a person might have hairloss but may not have any idea what is the best product to stop it... So they head to Google and search "how to stop hairloss" then, a niche website gives them the information they need & recommend they purchase a product from Amazon... And the creator earns a commission when they do.

And why would you want to compete with anybody?

There is SO much potential out there, so many new searches made every single day, there is no need to compete against others. You will learn here how to find low competition keyphrases to avoid competing :)

I am a newbie. Just started in WA. I am looking for a niche.

I have an interest in piano playing, specifically teaching adults/seniors to play by ear. I dont want to try and write a course to sell as an info product right away. I want to develop an affiliate business associated with piano now and then add my course later. What do you think?

Sounds good to me, but you will need to narrow it down a bit. Eg. What style of music? Who are your target audience

I think it's a great idea. The WA training will help you see the vision of how to do what you are describing. Your goal is to create a site with articles that discuss topics AROUND the concept of learning to play piano later in life.

My first question would be, "Is it too late for me to learn to play?" You could write an article about that question. "Do I need to have a nice piano, or can I just get a cheap keyboard?" Write about that. If you write about things I want to understand before I commit to taking piano lessons at age 47, then you will become an authority.

When I perceive you as an authority, I trust your recommendations: a piano teacher, a learning system, a specific kind of piano. Now you have value and I want to follow your links for my purchases.

If you can imagine yourself doing a lot of writing about piano training and other similar topics, then I think it's a great niche.

Thanks for the encouragement. I taught myself at the age of 55. I now play for at least an hour every day... If you are able to contact me privately I will tell you more. But I dont want to break WA rules.

Sorry, I already play the piano. I was just using examples of questions people might have about learning piano later in life. I was brainstorming why your niche idea is a good one.

It's good you don't want to break an WA rules. That means you have integrity.

Yes a mature starter pianist has to limit his ambitions. Various genres of music will be open to him. And he will entertain friends and family. With my method he will have a good time but he will never get a job in a rock band .... or play Carnegie Hall ! Various genres of music will be open to him.

Search anything relating to music or piano and see if they have an affiliate program.
