The whole picture-- that is one mega-crucial key to keeping frustration at bay.

You MUST have a general understanding of what educators call the underlying structure in order for it to make sense.

Examples: Think for a minute about what it takes to understnd how the following work:

  • Understanding a sport
  • Understanding how to cook dinner
  • Understanding how to use your computer

If you boil it down, you will figure out you need to learn a sequence, this comes before that, you need to know rules, and some basic moves. All of these make up the underlying structure.

To use our puzzle analogy-- You have the pieces all over the place, nothing makes sense. Finding the edge pieces and taking a good look at the picture ahead of time, and then separating the pieces by color or background, will voila! you see the underlying structure. Then use basic moves like learning to match shapes and use colors to fit specific pieces together.

Here is an example of the Underlying Structure of Article Marketing

Niche/product>Research>Keywords> Articles>Landing Pages>backlinks with blogs and forums>

Each one of these has its own structure within it/ how to create them, how to optimize etc.

WHAT TO DO:

  1. When stuck ask yourself where in the process are you?
Personal example: I was writing articles, which for me who taught this stuff to middle school students should not problem, and had a Squidoo lense and a blog. I found myself writing, stopping, reading my notes, writing stopping--Why? Well I stood back and realized my problem was I still did not fully understand exactly how these all needed to be linked together.
  2. When you finish a project and look back, and ask, "Where was I the least comfortable or which part do I really need to know more about?" Take the time to re-read some cards or choose one new resource from the training center. You will find that now, the second time througn and you have been through the "underlying structure" things will totally make sense to you and you will most likely find a tip or two you missed, and then add it to your note cards.

Personal Example: I realized it was keywords and the keyword tool, so I spent several days re-reading, finding some new tutorials, and talking on the forums. I am now ready to try some of those things out

Thanks so much for your very helpful, insightful and encouraging words about a subject that
this newbie has been experiencing lately!

Today, when I found this article posted; I just happened to be doing exactly what you suggested--
taking a break from my day-to-day studies of internet marketing on the WA website.

I'm so glad to discover that I'm doing what I need to do, for now, to be able to keep persevering with my internet business.

Your words are very timely and strike a definite chord!

Thanks again!

Aloha to all,
This is really a well done tutorial and very helpful to boot!
I wanted to offer a tip as well...
When I worked for the airlines, I made a reference note book with the large size note cards. Then I tabbed the notebook... which I believe was made for those large
note cards... never to lose another reference again... Hope that saves you some time. Blessings to you for all of your hard work here!
