First of all it is worth your time to set up WA space. Use the blog feature to write every few days a running commentary of what you are doing. I honestly think no one reads it, or may-be a few do, but it is valuable to help set goals, vent frustration and fine tune your thoughts. Second of all, my personal opinion is you need to first choose the people who you ask to be buddies by those who take the time to answer your forum questions. These are often found to be those regular Joe schmoes who work on the pay it forward system. They got help from someone at key points in their learning process and therefore freely give the same kind of help to someone else. My very best most helpful buddy was found this way.

Third way to choose buddies by authors of a particular resource you got some deep benefit from. For instance, if you read five resources on keywords but one of them stuck out, and really hit your learning style, or zoned in on the area where you had the most questions and answered them. I had one instance when I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to get a Site Rubix site uploaded to the server. I found a pefecr resource, PM's the author in thanks who gave me some additional advice, so I asked him to be a buddy. I know next time I need help with that sort of thing, I have a buddy with that expertise. These buddies, whether a Joe Schmoe or a Popular Guru will be a good resource for you since you know they talk in your language

It is tempting to go down the list and ask all the Popular Gurus to be your buddies. You need to remember that because they are popular and have zillions of buddies, they may not always have the same kind of time to devote as your regular Joe Schmoe. They work best, in my opinion, for the quick specific question based on one of their tutorials as their load of advice seekers is long and vast and it often takes hours to go through and answer questions that come their way. Save them some time and use your other buddies for basic general questions. Carson and Kyle would be the exception, they use buddy messages and questions etc to help them create resources and adjustments to WA in general.
