2. Phone Number (for phone verification of account)

One of the newer strategies craig is using to control spam on their site and eliminate auto posters is phone verification. Consider this a blessing and be sure to have a phone number (and the phone) available before making your first post or other random times to stop auto posting.

This is what you will see during phone verification.

Chose "via text" or "via message" and click "send the code" on the next screen (below) enter the received code and continue. You will be taken to a captcha and everything will be back to normal...

SOME ADVICE:

Using your home phone or personal cell is OK.

You will need a separate phone number for any additional craig accounts so this is something you will have to think about if you have a need to open another account. I prefer not to use the phones of friends or family because this will actually cause problems even if it is just making you inefficient.

Nothing is more annoying than getting a request for phone verification in the middle of posting ads and having no immediate access to the phone attached to the account. I have a separate trac phone for each account and they are always at my work station. They are cheap and work well for this method.

@ Peter Y, I would suggest running CCcleaner first before logging on to craigs and posting any ads. This will give you a clean slate. Then after you are done posting on craig go to the cookies in CCcleaner before running and you will see both of them. Save the post.craigslist.org and leave the other to be deleted. It is best to do all of this on a new user account this way you will not eliminate any cookies that assist you with any online banking or cc cards bill paying etc.

This is awesome, thanx. I just tried to do this step but I can't find the cookies. I made the first ad, logged out and checked the cleaner as it says here and didn't see any craiglist cookies. should I just ignore it and go on?
