How Do You Befriend a Person Through Email
Let’s start with the greeting. A number of email messages will not have a greeting. Imagine getting a phone call where the person started without even taking the time to say “hello”? Well, that’s exactly what happens with a lot of email.
Often, there is no greeting at all, or the sender just says your name and then begins their email. I think it is always friendly and courteous to say something like:
Dear name, Greetings name, Good afternoon name. I like something simple like Hi (name). If the email conversation goes back and forth a few times, I like to simply say Hi again, name,’ as I begin each email.
Approaching with an I know It all attitude is wrong. Don’t be arrogant and assume that the information you provide is already known by the recipient.
So, the words with which you begin your mail should be confident but sprinkled with humility.
Especially if you are writing a promotional mail, it would be a good idea to start yourmail with something like,
“Maybe you already know this but…” or “Have you ever tried this?” Your prospects will definitely appreciate this subtle and humble approach and they may even write back to thank you for it.
