JV, also know as Joint Venture, is a partnership between two people in efforts to drive a 'joint" business opportunity. There are many ways in which these join ventures work and in many cases we disagree with a lot of them, however if you are strategic about a Joint Venture you can increase your brand image and accelerate your traffic significantly.
There are four types of Joint Ventures that are effective with WordPress sites that I would like to discuss:
(1) Value Based Post JV
The first and most subtle form of a Joint Venture, is creating blog posts that other website owners will deem 'valuable'. Many website owners and marketers are always looking for content they can deliver to their visitors/subscribers. If you offer value on your blog you will likely get "plugged" on many blogs out there.
What you can do is even contact site owners that you think will find value in your content and let them know about some of your top posts.
(2) Traffic Share JV
This is similar as a valued based post except there is a mutual agreement between both site owners on the link reciprocation. In exchange for a position of a link to your site on their site, you give the Joint Venture partner a link back from your site.
This will drive people to your site from theirs in return for either a reciprocating post/page.
Sometimes you can make purchases for one way links that work in this manner as well. What you could do is search the top keyword listings for a particular keyword and ask them if you could pay for a link to your website on theirs (in a prime position) in exchange for money. Often times you can get really good ad deals doing this!
(3) Product Recommendation JV
One thing that many site owners do are product recommendations. We recommend doing this for affiliate marketing in particular. However, there is another way to benefit from product recommendations...and that is by contacting the product owners.
Many times product owners want to showcase their positive product reviews. If you contact them and let them know about your review, they may give you a testimonial plug on their homepage, their blog, or within an email.
I have seen this work brilliantly for site owners in the past. Create a blog post about a product. Contact the product owner. Get link exposure...and traffic!
(4) List Share JV
One of the most common forms of Joint Ventures is "list" sharing. You send out an email for me and I send out an email for you...sort of thing. You likely have seen the "guru's" do this with all of their product launches, but you may not be aware this goes on in the WordPress site owner world.
Many people have targeted lists, and many are willing to share these lists with you if you are willing to reciprocate. In order to do this type of Joint Venture you will need your own contact list (in aweber.com or otherwise) and a comparable size list. For example, if you have 500 people on your list and you are trying to JV with someone that has 10,000, good luck. It probably won't happen.
To seek out this sort of JV, do a search in Google within your niche. Find sites that relate to yours and look for an "opt-in form" on their site. If they have one, contact them and see if they have a list they want to do a JV with. Keep moving. Aim to contact 10 potential JV's before you actually acquire one as many people don't check their emails, or simply won't want to do it.
These are the top ways to create partnerships with your WordPress site and ultimately obtain more traffic by leveraging other marketers and website owners existing networks.
