Can't play the video? Basic text instructions below:

Wish I knew this earlier, hope it saves you Mac users a few bucks!

It's a very good option for Mac Users like me, who are just beginners in the video world and don't benefit from more advanced, paid software (yet).

Macs come with free screen recording software included on every computer!

Yep... turns out you can open up QuickTime player, navigate to "file" and select "New Screen Recording."

Options available:

  1. Record a video, using your built in camera and mic, or using external camera and mic (eg a webcam)
  2. Record audio only, using your built in mic or an external mike (eg hands-free headset)
  3. Record screen (including audio)

For basic editing:

You can then use the "Edit" menu to do the following:

  • Trim: Cut footage from the beginning or end of your recording
  • Split Clip: splits your footage into separate pieces to keep or delete
  • Add Clip: add video from another file into your video
  • There might be more I haven't discovered yet!

For advanced editing:

You can import the whole movie file into iMovie, which is also free with your Mac and has much more features, although family and friends in the editing business use more advanced software.

Is anything unclear? Do you know something I don't? Please tell me in the comments!

***You're also welcome to just give me props for making this video ;) ***
