Cornerstone Content: What is it, and how can it Help You Rank Higher?

I've now established the advantages of long-form content over short-form content. Let's go one step further and talk about the best content format: pillar posts.

There are few names for cornerstone content: Pillar posts, anchor posts, and pillar pages. They all mean the same.

These posts are long-form and can be videos, or any other type of content that you choose to publish. They serve as the foundation for all your content. These posts are essential to establish your brand and build trust with your readers.

Pillar posts should be very detailed and helpful guides that help you position yourself as an expert in your field. They should be permanent, which means they can never be outdated. This is because you update the information frequently or the information itself has no expiration date.

Experts recommend pillar posts that are longer than 2,000 words. However, you can break down topics into chapters or series of posts to make it easier for your audience.

Pillar posts are a great way to get started with content. You can even publish 5-10 or 20 pillar posts on a new site. Then, fill in the gaps with short-form content later to help you rank higher on Google and other search engines.

Convert existing content into cornerstone content. It's easy to identify which content is the most valuable for your business or site.

To find the most popular posts in search results, first look at your analytics. BufferApp provides a step-by-step guide to help you conduct your content audit.

Which of these posts are most in line with your brand's goals? These posts could be expanded to at least 2000 words. Are you able to provide a comprehensive, detailed guide on the topic? These shorter posts can be turned into key content if you answer "yes" to all these questions.

I like to write shorter posts but you have convinced me to do more. Umm, thanks!

Good to know, Rosana! Yea, shorter posts are also good, but longer ones can impress search engines more. So, we need to balance up the two for a better result.

Great training Israel, long post VS short post, I think what receives the best response and ranking is most appealing, you can always have images scattered amongst.
