If someone links to my Top Class SEO Training site with the text “SEO Training”, this will assist me with ranking higher for the keyword phrase used than someone who just used “Top Class”.

Another major factor to consider is the quality level of the site linking; the search engine enables links from trustworthy sites to rank higher than others.

Most times when other sites are linking to your site, they link directly to the home page and this makes it difficult for each page to achieve their own high ranking.
