Luckily on WA you have a Keyword Tool and you can sign up for Jaaxy.
They work (Keyword tool & Jaaxy) by letting you know which combination of words are popular on the internet and how many websites/posts are using those words.
The idea is to get a keyword/s that has a lot of people searching for it/them on the internet but with few posts/websites using those keyword/s.

Thanks for this training Michael! Somebody in live chat pointed me to your post as I was asking about keywords. Do you know if the true competition is based on keywords in quotation marks or the keyword just typed into the search bar without quotation marks?

Hi Michelle,
If the keywords are put into quotation marks then google will look for that specific phrase with no variation so that will give you a true representation of the competition with only those specific words in that order, but, rarely does anyone do that and then google searches all variations of those keywords so that is your real competition.
