Submitting a Sitemap to Google Search Console
A sitemap is a XML file that essentially tells Google about all the pages, posts and media files on your site. Anytime you add pages and posts you can resubmit your sitemap and it helps Google index you. It will index much quicker than if you were to wait for Google to crawl your site. Lets cover how to submit a sitemap with All in One SEO first.
All in One SEO Feature Manager
Go to your dashboard in WordPress click All in One SEO, then click on Feature Manager. Select activate XML SiteMap. Now click XML sitemap underneath All in One SEO.
Click view your sitemap.
This is the file (URL) you will want to want to submit to Google Search Console (Webmaster Tools). Head back over to your sitemap section in Search Console and click ADD/TEST Sitemap and type it in.
You are all set!
Yoast SEO Users
If you have Yoast SEO the process is pretty similar. Go to WordPress Dashboard and hover over ‘SEO’ then select XML Sitemaps.
Click XML Sitemap and then copy the XML file (URL). Head over to Google Search Consoles sitemap section and click ADD/TEST Sitemap. Add your file and you're done!
Quick question, Does the email address used for site id and the email address of the Google account need to be the same?
I wanted to use the easy method, as I am not comfortable with adding code yet- know I can do it, but was just wanting to funnel the information from Google to another account.
Thank you,
Sami
My fault I'm sure.
