Be sure to uninstall any old backup plugin before you activate your new UpdraftPlus plugin.

Go to your Dashboard, choose Plugin and then click on Add New

You will see this option on the page that opens.

Type in UpdraftPlus into the search bar and click search.

It appears the back up worked but I'm still getting the warning message that I noted in my previous msg. So I'm not sure what to think.

I am not either. My first action is usually to uninstall, shut down and reinstall. Have you given that a try?

Thank you for introducing the wonderful plugin. I really appreciate. Previously I was using mainwp to take backups but this seems to be a lot easier.

Excellent tutorial. I'm happy with my backups, but it does not have a restore button, so I'm thinking of switching to this. Have you tried the restore button to see how it works?

Yes, I think sometimes it's easy to forget that a lot of people don't understand the basics yet. It's a decent thought.
