How would you feel when you know there are things you can do to improve page SEO through old content? Ever heard of the saying that content is king? An SEO best practice is to ensure that all your posts are up to date and are relevant.

Think of updating your posts as a way to refresh them to meet up with the regular SEO trends. It is an effective strategy that website and blog owners are adopting because it improves SEO ranking.

Why You Should Update Your Content

A lot of people have hundreds of old blog posts that are stale, and these posts aren’t generating any new traffic. A major internet marketing rule is to produce content regularly. Also, your audience expects awesome and engaging content from you every time.

Apart from putting out rich content, adding images to content and call to action, an incredible way to get traffic is by updating your old content. Although people hardly talk about it, it works like magic.

Most times, all you just want to do is put lots of content out there. Like you feel you’re on a clock and you have to put out a certain number of posts. While this is good, it is crucial to always note that it isn’t just about how much content, but the quality.

It is the aspect of quality that most site owners tend to forget. When it comes to SEO ranking, quality trumps quantity in every way.

So, are you saying that after making all the changes you want, you republish, just as if it were new content?

I've done a few updates on content, thanks to the new AIO SEO plugin. The SEO ratings this plugin gives are most helpful. If your SEO rating is too low, these seem to me to be the ones to update.

That plugin has helped me improve my rankings by working to make sure I've made all the changes the plugin recommends.

Thank you, Israel, for reminding me to request indexing after I published my post. I always forgot to do it.

Yeah, there was a time when Google suspended the "Request indexing" feature. Good to know this feature has now been restored fully. Go ahead and request indexing immediately after hitting the Publish button.

Thanks for this Israel. It’s a tough balance between writing new posts and updating old ones. I have been in the process of updating my old posts, and I have seen the rewards. More traffic and higher rankings.
Your tips are great.

Correct, Jenny! It'can be very challenging to balance up between hitting the Publish button for new content and hitting the Update button for old posts. But doing it the right way will pull tons of organic traffic. Google loves it, I bet!
