Website speed is an essential factor when it comes to user engagement and website ranking. As such, when creating a blog or website, you must prioritize speed. Apart from Plug-in and other technical factors, images are another thing that impacts website speed. But fortunately, you can work on them to improve your website speed and other general performance.

When working with images, one of those characteristics we prioritize is the image size. Although we can reduce the size to improve website speed, this size reduction usually impacts the image quality. But if you apply the best image optimization techniques, you will achieve size reduction and a minimal effect on image quality.

Before we begin to look at these techniques, we must see our benefits when we get involved in image optimization.

Hi Paramater, three questions.
1. Gimp is that program available for MacBook Pro?
2. What is the ideal size for Images?
3. Kraken comes with WordPress does that do the same job?

Thank you for an interesting tutorial

Thank you Yvonne,

I don't use Mac, but you will find this useful. https://lifehacker.com/gimp-is-now-available-as-a-native-app-for-mac-os-x-5938890

For image ideal size, what is important is to ensure you don't compress at the expense of quality. Don't compress and make the image worthless to users.

Kraken is a wordpress theme and not a plugin.

I hope I answered your questions rightly

It's funny that you've created this blog today. I was downloading an image from http://Canva.com. The choice I had was a PNG format and a compress image. I know that the PNG format was the common one and most used.
But I was not sure about the compress image. You've explained it well and it makes sense to utilize it when it comes to reduce the resource it uses. I will consider this from now on. Thanks. All the best!
