There comes a time when anyone doing business on the net, particularly if you need to build a website, will need to make friends with HTML. It can either be a hassle to figure out what code to use, how to use it and what to do when it doesn't work on your website. Or, you can make friends with it and have a blast giving your website some extra POP!

Over time, this became my source for HTML coding:

http://www.quackit.com/html/

There are a few ways to get this into your text and make a link like the one to Quackit active when someone clicks on it.

When you are creating a website, or any document that allows for HTML, you will be able to create a simple link by:

Clicking on the world icon that looks like it has 3 links of a chain with it. A smaller pop-up will come up that looks like the screenshot below.

You see several options in the left panel. If you want your link to direct you to a specific website, select "Web Location".

In the blank that says, "Link Text" simply put in what you would like to have people see. It can either be the full link, or it can be something like "Click Here To Visit This Website".

Below the large white section, you will see a blank space that says, "URL". This is where you want to put in the address for the actual site you want people to visit. One easy way to do that is to open a new browser or tab, bring up the website you want people to visit, copy the web address in your browser, then come back to your link screen and paste it in. That will insure that your link is correct.

Then click "Insert". You will go back to the page where you are composing. Your link should look like the link in blue above.

If the site you are using to compose your page has three tabs (usually at the bottom) that say, "Design", "Source" and "Preview", click on the tab that says "Preview". Click on the link in your document and it should take you to the website for the link.

Now, let's see what happens when I take the same link, but I don't want people to actually see the web address itself - such as when you use affiliate links.

Click the world/link icon again. This time, I will put link text in the top box. This is what you will see instead of a web address:

Once again, click on the "Preview", click your link and make sure it works.

Now, let's look at the second way to add html code to a website or tutorial like this one.

Knowing actual HTML always helps. Blogger has a decent interface for those who do not know any but want to transfer HTML between applications.
