-Public: These is a characteristic that is more valuable for other kind of ideas, obviously if you are writing a blog or an authority site you are going to make your content public so is not that significant in this case. But don’t rule it out so fast. Don’t limit the spread of your content and ideas to the internet, social media, and all that stuff.

The reality is that most of the stuff still spreads through word of mouth, the main way we share things is still by conversations, who knows if these would change but till this day we are still talking to each other a lot. So how can you harness the power of these conversations to your advantage? What I would recommend is that, if your product or content allow it you make it public by stimulating some behavior in your followers that make people ask them in trivial conversations why are they doing it. If you could do this, you could start getting a lot of free traffic from it.

-Practical value: I suppose most of you create practical content already but this is important to always keep in mind. Two things to keep in mind is always the self-interest of the reader. You want them to have a clear answer to the question What's in it for me? And also for the sake of simplicity, you want to have clear action points in your content.

You want that when the reader finish reading your post to have 2 to 3 clear actions to take right after that will provoke a real benefit to them. If you can do this, they will come back and share your content with anyone available. If you try to pass on some practical stuff, but in the end the reader does not have a clear idea of what he has to do next they will demotivate and leave.

You could even finish your post with two or three task they have to do (Does this remind you to something?)

-Stories: Sometimes when we try to share something useful we get to scientific and give facts and lessons and it becomes boring. People in the Internet have a low attention span and some of them don’t want to be educated. But if you could surround your message with a story it is a lot more sharable. You have to find a way so they cannot tell the story without sharing your message or even without reminding and talking about your product.

It is quite hard to do, but if you become a good story teller and surround your messages and promotions with good, sharable stories you are going to see the payouts.

Thank you SO much for your hard work in putting this together. It is a very valuable lesson, and, yes, I took lots of notes. When you talked about things going viral, that triggered a memory from a few years ago. It was a photo that was taken of the Queen and sitting next to her on a curb was a Scottish guy in a kilt. There was a parade or something of the sort. The poor Scot's whole three piece set was on view in the photo under his kilt. Boy, did that go VIRAL! It was forwarded back and forth over the whole country amid great hilarity! Well, maybe not in England...

Good article Manuel, but I think you should have titled it "How to Write Great Content". I'm not sure how it pertains to making your articles go "viral".

Thanks for your post! With regards to your grammar/language, I think you've done a great job. However if this is something that bothers you with your writing, checkout Grammarly.com. I used the Grammarly (grammar checking software) while doing freelance writing, and it really helped me to learn grammar fast. Because the software explains the grammar errors you usually make, it's easy to learn the right way and then you start to write the right way automatically.
