How to Write an Impressive About Me Page for a Blog
Me Me Me Me Me
Nobody wants to read 5 paragraphs about you. Your visitors are on your site for one reason and one reason only. To find help to their problem. It's your job to give them the solution.
That's not to say you shouldn't do some speaking of yourself. Of course you should, it is the about ME page. But keep it to a minimum. Leave that lower down on the page, and use it to tell them "Your Story." How you got started, What it was like before, How it is now, etc.
- A good rule of thumb to go by:
For every “I” you put in your about me page, add 2 “You’s”
And I’m not talking about The Bronx, you’s.
ie; “Hey you’s guys.”
Talk about them more than yourself. How you'll help them, what you'll give them, etc.
Woo Your Readers
This is your opportunity to grab a new follower to your site. Make them want to read more. If they finish reading your about me page, and click away, you haven’t done your job. What can you do for them that will make them feel special?
i.e.: “I’m an expert at social media, and I will show you exactly how you can be too.”
Give them something they can use. A free ebook perhaps? Offer it right there and then.
Which brings us to our next step. A Call To Action!
