Did you set your expectations right?

If I recollect correctly, one of WA trainings asks you to decide how often you want to publish your posts. Most people say: “I’ll do it daily!”

Your positive outlook on content creation is a good starting point. However, content creation is more like a hard work of digging in a mine, than randomly laying out fluffy words and sentences.

In order to build a recognisable business, one has to set reasonable, measurable and achievable goals. Some people are capable of writing an interesting post every day.

The harsh truth is – most people aren’t.

I hope you fall in the former category. If you fit the latter category, try to set your expectations right.

Say to yourself: “I will publish one post every week. I will do a lot of research of my competition and I will walk an extra mile to produce an outstanding post each week.

My goal is to have 52 posts over the next twelve months.”

This goal is measurable and achievable. Again, the harsh truth is – most people will fail to achieve it.

Why?

Most people tend to shuffle their focus from relevant to irrelevant. Consequently, only a handful of people succeed.

People with the clear plan and determination to act on implementing the plan make it.

Hi Maudre,

Great post and training, it reinforces what Eddy is recommending, 1000 words or more for insightful and informational posts. Just starting out and trying get by with 600 to 800 word posts and not sure that will do it.

Thank you and cheers,

Thank you Joaquin!
As I suggested, start writing about your topic. Don't worry too much about the layout at the beginning. Focus on three sources at most and disregard the rest. You can get back to other sources when fine-tuning. It seems many people struggle with it. I may write another training about using sources. Cheers.

Hi Mudre;
Thanks for breaking it down for us, as you do jolly well!
I really like your idea of writing the introduction last(!)
It does seem that you could tie things in better, while highlighting what your post's content is all about.

Thanks for the compliment Terry.
Writing the intro when you have the overall picture works well because it naturally comes to you. Cheers.

Thanks for this training.

I know the key to publishing good content for Google is consistency.

There is no point in publishing a post or page every day for 2 weeks, then nothing for 5 or 6 days, it needs to be regular.

Personally I post one page or post every 4 days of content I feel is of good value. I know I can keep this momentum and I know I can have the passion to write in in that time frame.

A lot of people hit blocks because they are rushing and running out of ideas... a little time in the middle gives you time for thought!

Great training, thanks :)

My pleasure Chris. As you say, consistency is the key.
I also suggest people taking frequent brakes. One cannot maintain focus for long without suffering side effects. If massive stressing out is the price one has to pay, I don't think it's worth it.
Thanks.
