Keep it Brief

Google limits the display of your title to 60 characters. This will ensure that it doesn't get removed from search engine results pages. Moz suggests that titles under 60 characters will display correctly in 90% of cases.

One blog post can have many titles, such as:

  • The page title: This is a clickable title for a webpage that appears in the SERP.
  • Meta title: This is the title of a webpage as it appears in its HTML code.
  • A custom title for social media: A catchy title, but not necessarily one that uses keywords.

If you want to optimize your blog title for social media optimization, headlines between 8-12 words get the most shares on Twitter. Titles with 12 to 14 words received the most likes on Facebook.

Short and informative titles are a great way to grab your audience's attention. They should be concise and clearly describe the topic of the blog post in a brief amount of time. A blog post's purpose should be clear and easily understood by the reader. Therefore, a concise title is better than a long title.

Search engine results are often what readers skim through. A short title can catch someone's attention. A compelling title should be short enough to convey your message. It is important to be clear and concise, but not too descriptive.

Hubspot found that headlines that provide more information about the content format perform 38% better than titles that don't.

Don't bore your audience. You can be more concise with shorter titles. If you are serious about creating quality content, you will remember this.

Use Power Words

Your blog title is what readers see first. You have to grab their attention quickly so that they click through to the entire blog post. Many content creators have difficulty writing blog titles.

A lack of interesting words in the title is a common problem. If you want to grab more attention and improve click-through rates, then you should include power words in your titles.

Power words are phrases that can spark action. Some examples include bold, simple, detailed and free.

Thanks Roger. Yes, the numbers in the title keeps coming up for me. Something I haven't been focussing on, but is becoming clear that I should.
