Now you just need to figure out how you would like to use buckets to schedule and plan your content writing.

If you have multiple websites, you could create buckets for each website. eg:

  • My WA Website
  • My niche website
  • My portfolio website
  • Side project website

Or perhaps you have different themes within the one site, you could create a bucket for each different topic/thread. eg:

  • Reviews
  • Case Studies or Guest Posts
  • Hot Keywords
  • Product Comparisons
  • Other content themes

If you have writing targets and deadlines you are working towards, then perhaps buckets related to those deadlines is the way to go. eg:

  • Top Priority
  • Medium Priority
  • No Priority

Or:

  • Work on today
  • To Do This Week
  • This month
  • Next Month
  • etc.

Hi Kim, you're welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed the training. Are you using buckets within SiteContent? Cheers, Karen

Yes. I use buckets to organize content for different websites. However, I still feel unorganized and inefficient. I also have not reached my writing goals yet so I'm still tweaking my process to find the most efficiency.

So, I'm thinking of utilizing buckets for the theme category as you suggested (e.g. reviews, product comparisons, etc.). Each of these can utilize a different template also available in SiteContent.

I think this will help me organize content categories a bit better and streamline my post output and make it easy to add categories and tags in WP, when posting.

Also, I honestly never noticed the "published" vs. "unpublished" filter set before your training. I can't believe I missed that. #facepalm

Your training definitely gave me some additional insights.

Thanks again,

Kim

Hi Kim, I agree, it can take a while to feel like you've got a system that works for you. At this stage my buckets are by website as I have about 5 websites on the go, but I plan to break these down further or at least have a 'urgent' bucket with the articles I need to finish. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Karen

How long did it take you to get into a system Karen?

I totally think you have the leg up because you've always been a feverish writer.

I write fine too but too much of a perfectionist. So, I'm slow at it. I can't seem to spit out a rough draft in one sitting. I'm trying to work on that.

Hi Kim,
rest assured, my system is not perfect yet! my problem is procrastination and also I get bored easily haha!
But to answer your question, it took me a couple of months to settle into a system that works for me, the big thing is to have a clear idea of what work I NEED to finish next - that keeps me centred and on track.
Don't be a perfectionist!! You can always go back into a post and edit and improve it later if you're not happy. The big thing is to get your content out there and ranking.
Cheers, Karen

I use the buckets and they become more important as the website grows and you have more articles to organize.
Also, easy way to see which articles have been ranked in Google and which have not been ranked.

Hi Steven, that's a good point, do you sort your unranked articles into separate buckets? Cheers, Karen

No, I've been sorting by website menu at the moment.

Thanks Karen. I use site contents but i havent been using the buckets. I just use a simple published / unpublished. I was wondering do you publish from site contents or do you cut and paste it across to WordPress? Cheers

Hi there, I publish directly from SiteContent to my website, including all the images (so I have the post roughly laid out how I want it), then make any final tweaks in wordpress for SEO etc. Hope this helps, Cheers, Karen
