Your accent is adorable! Thanks for posting this video. A question i have is about amazon. Kyle shows us how to type a word like Amazon.com - highlight it and then add the link to it this way. is this now allowed? am i supposed to post the exact URL of the affiliate link that they gave me directly on my page or is it ok to list it as Amazon.com and click it that way?

Ok so you are on my Pretty Links training asking about Amazon affiliate links - so the first thing you must know about promoting Amazon affiliate links is that they have very strict terms - and one of them is never ever to cloak an affiliate link or use a link shortener! So please don't put any Amazon affiliate links into Pretty Links because you could get your Amazon affiliate account banned!

I don't actually know what you are asking though - do you want to know if you must use your affiliate link or if you must use Amazon.com ? Well if you use a link on your website that is not your affiliate link you are going not going to get those sales credited to your affiliate account. If you are talking about the anchor text (the words that the link is added to) you can make that anything you like. I would recommend using things like "click here to buy" or describe the product you are linking to for eg "maternity dress".

If you need more assistance with Amazon links check out my training here:

i will change them to click to buy because i like how that sounds better and is less confusing. i made the shortener Amazon.com but it still is the affiliate link that takes people to their page and i would get the sale. but i see how that can be confusing it looks like i just put the amazon page link there for people to click and get to amazon which is silly because people can just open a new tab and pull up amazon. click to buy definitely makes much more sense. thanks

Thank you for the nice training in using pretty links.

Can you please help me with the following?

I am sifting two of my posts from my old website to new website.
My old website is still on, and I like to keep it on.
To avoid 404 error in the old website, shall I have to redirect?
How to redirect in this case? Does pretty link has any role in redirecting?

No Pretty Links won't redirect your posts, it just gives them a pretty link :) You can easily make redirects using Redirection plugin :)

Thanks for this training, I was just asking about "why my pretty link clicks and actual affiliate clicks, didn't match up. And I was advised to watch your video. Thank you, for sharing your knowledge about pretty links, it has certainly helped me out. Although, I still must figure out why the two have different click counts.

Thanks for this training. i started using pretty Link from the original training I did here a few years back, and then forgotten to use it down the track. And as I was reviewing my plugins the other day, I'd completely forgotten what the plugin was even for!! A quick search for Pretty Links here on WA, and straight on to your training. Thank you! :)

cheers

Nice One Lynne, Pretty Links is a very useful way of presenting your links when you share affiliate links, I even have my blog domain pretty linked.

Thanks for sharing

Yes me too! I use it for many things other than just affiliate links :)

The other cool thing about it is that it tells you which topics you have blogged about work best, so you can focus on writing on that subject as well

i was thinking you are up and about early, but then realised that you must be about an hour ahead of me in the UK, where its 8am
Reply

There is daylight saving now so it is about 2 hours now :) We don't have daylight saving here so when it is your winter we are 2 hours ahead but when it is your summer only 1 hour ahead.
