What is the SEO value of having a MP3 audio file, when they would download the file and listen to it? This would have them leave your page.

When you let the MP3 file open into a new tab, they are not leaving your side, besides that, it's an addition for visually impaired people, and people with good sight will very likely not use it. It depends on which group you are targetting online too, whether it's useful for you to use this feature or not. When you have a dog care website or a website about aid supplies for handicapped persons, it will be a great addition to your visitors.
