When Google Analytics counts your visits you are getting an inflated view of your website performance. What you really want is the cold hard facts. Once you have those you have a better idea of what is working and what is not.

I am frequently checking things on my website and I am sure you are too. Inflated figures make it hard for you to know which posts are popular and which posts do not attract much attention at all. Once you narrow that down you start to understand what your customers are looking for.

Sometimes I have difficulty with an internal link or a picture and have frequent visits back to my post testing if I have got it right. When this happens you get an inflated visit count from analytics.

To get a factual view of what works and what doesn't you need to filter out visits from your own IP address Today I am going to tell you how to filter out your own visits and get the true visitor count you need so let's get started.

IP addresses are not always static, but there a ways to deal with dynamic addresses as well, trainings are available here at WA.
