Creating a Site Identity Icon for your website is important in establishing your website brand or authority. It is like taking a role of a leader wherein you want to create a good number of followers following your lead.

How would you able to lead if you don't have the authority to do so? How would your readers easily track your website besides your website's name? By creating a Site Identity icon, your readers could easily track you if they want to follow your blog posts.

In this tutorial, I will walk you through on the steps on how to set-up a Site Identity Icon for Website branding.

hi mate good! strangely i went to this area but didn't pursue as i wasn't sure so consolidation of information with your training here was very important
do you have anything training on Email redirection from WA client to independent email? i.e my own business client mail service or ''off the shelf'' emails like google/ yahoo/ bing, etc....?

Hi, I have downloaded my logo in PDF and saved on desktop. Can it be setup as identity icon on website header?

You have to use the customise feature of WordPress and upload the image. You will have to change to an image format such as jpeg.

Thank you very much, Bruce, for taking the time to read and have bookmarked it for future reference. Did you see the site icon in your favorite icons or "favicon"? That is the usage of it which is to distinguish it from the rest of your favourites or bookmarks. :)
Reply
BBrandt Premium
No, I did not see that. I just looked and don't know what it is.

My apology, there won't be a site icon for this training. I was thinking about my site icon. You can test this with your site if you are planning to create one in the future. All the best! :)

Great training.

The correct term for this is called "favicon" and their recommended sizes are 16x16 pixels or 32x32 pixels.

Why theme developers are changing this term is a mystery. It's like calling a car, a boat. It gets confusing when people are changing the terms especially when helping people out in this subject matter.

Although I can appreciate the user friendliness of the term site identify icon.

-John,

Thank you for sharing the information, John. I also made a research and searched it in "Wikipedia". It is short term for favorite icon. It can also be called a Website Identity icon, tab icon, URL icon or bookmark icon. Hope this makes it clear for both of us.
All the best in your website!
Adel :)
