If you do not possess any collectibles or none are available from family and friends, your best chances at finding some, like I mentioned on the previous page, will be at garage or estate sales, storage units, or on Craigslist. However on Craigslist many people will be asking for more money and you will have to haggle the price down.
NOT ALL COLLECTIBLES ARE OLD
If you have ever watched those cable TV shows Pawn Stars, American Pickers or Storage Wars you will always see people making money from all types of collectibles. However not all collectibles have to be old and/or used. Though old collectibles will fetch the most money, brand new items are just as popular.
As I already mentioned, some of the timeless collectibles are practically anything from Disney, Star Wars, Star Trek, and Game of Thrones. Finding collectibles from these franchises are much easier than locating older collectibles. You can find the majority of these from wholesalers and liquidators, as well as store closeouts.
Another example of collectibles are knives and swords. Back in November 2015 I hooked up with a distributor based in Pakistan who sold on eBay but wanted access to the American eBay market. He owned a factory that was making custom and handmade Damascus Steel Knives. Unlike the poor quality of other knives made in that part of the world, these were top of the line.
After a few months of selling for him he decided to send me a box full of knives so we could save time and money on the shipping and have me ship the knives from within the U.S. instead from Pakistan. At first I wasn’t sure if knives would sell well or could even be considered a collectible. But after doing some research on eBay using the Advanced Search Sold feature, I was quite surprised at how popular custom handmade Damascus Steel knives were.
Then after seeing firsthand the high quality of these knives, I was able to purchase three of them for myself, at a discount of course. The pictures above are two of the knives I now have. I later found out that Damascus Steel knives are popular as collectibles because of the wavy pattern incorporated into the steel when it is hand-forged. They are cool looking, right?
