Now that you have images saved on you computer the next step is to optimize them.
Optimizing your images will save bandwidth and loading time, helping to make your site load faster.
I found Tiny PNG to be one of the easier optimization tools to use and it's totally FREE!
1) Drop your saved images one by one onto the drop box, up to 20 at a time. You will be able to see how much space you saved with each image you add.2) Once you are done adding all your images click on download. All the optimized images will be in one folder.
3) Go to your file manager to open and unzip the folder. Give the folder a name so you will know whats in it.
Now all those images are ready to add to your media library.
Next you will need to upload the folder.

Hi Cathy,
Thank you for this very timely information. I was just reading about this very topic earlier today and my brain short circuited! Your explanation was very simple and easy to follow. I am going to add this to my favorites for later reference. You mentioned using a program called Tiny PNG. Is this a free service, or do you need to pay to use it? If so, how much? Thanks for your help!
