This video training has one simple goal...

To help YOU understand the process of making money online.

It is actually more simplistic than you think. Although there are many ways in which people are creating successful businesses online, there is one core component to any successful business, a website.

In this video I walk you through the process right from the initial audience, to the search in Google, to the website, to the niche, to the types of programs that you are going to be promoting to generate revenue.

There are many ways that you can earn a full time income online once you understand the fundamentals and this video is going to clarify what the fundamental process is.

If you have any comments or questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to give you a hand.

Hi Kyle My goal is my relationship with GOD not putting money before HIM. It's pure Religion that is helping people. This program is becoming challenging with choosing a niche apart from GOD. And not allowing money and some of the content to be offensive as I go through the training and be able to continue on. HELP! Thank you for understanding.

You can help people with anything, it doesn't have to be their relationship with religion. If someone is looking to build a website, you can help them do that and build a business doing so. If someone has constant foot pain, well there are solutions to that and lots of things you can discuss and help people with in respect to that.

A niche can be anything, but ultimately you get to choose.

This interaction among members is a perfect example of brainstorming. It allows members to get answers to questions in many ways with the end result leading the person needing the info to get the desired result. And sometimes, it can lead to other ways to answer the same question. They say there is more than one way to skin a cat.'😊 WA encourages interaction, and that makes it worth being a member. Remember, ask and you will receive. 👍

Yes, there is certainly more than one way to create a business online, and we are going to give you the flexibility and control to go in many different directions here. It all stats with a solid foundation that you can build off of, so that is going to be our first focus as we move forward through the training. :)

Hi Kyle,

Thank you for explaining how money is made with the affiliate process.

If a customer does a search for a product and via an affiliate link is transported to the retailer's website but instead of purchasing the product which brought them to the retailer's website, the customer get distracted and buy something else instead, will the affiliate still be compensated? So if instead of buying the snack helmet on Amazon, they buy a bottle. Will Amazon still reward the affiliate seeing as it was the affiliate who brought that customer into the Amazon platform?

Grateful for your feedback.

Kind regards
Femi

Yes, Amazon does, if the customer purchases something within 24 hours. Other affiliate programs each have their own terms and conditions, so you would need to check the details of any that you are interested in joining.

Thanks Kyle. My concern is the google ranking. I can spend all the time in the world building an awesome, informative site but the chances are it will end up on the 2nd or 3rd page which no one goes to. Does it cost to appear or rank on google's 1st page or does the SEO on the page have to be dialed in?
Reply
feigner Premium
go through the course and you are shown how to rank in google.
it does work, well for me at least, organically on page one for loads of keywords.
the other main thing is that people are searching for those keywords.
but yes you can learn how to setup bing ads and ppc campaigns.

It doesn't cost to appear on Google's first page - and when you think about it from a search engines point of view you'll see that it's actually quite a lot easier than you think.

Basically search engines like Google, Yahoo & Bing all have the same goal. They all want to provide the content the answers the users query best, first.

So if somebody is searching "what are the best tennis shoes" and your post answers that question in a way that the search engines deems good, it'll move your post up towards the top.

This won't happen instantly though - as most websites that launch end up closing within the first couple of months, so for the first couple of months search engines basically "trial you"... Are you going to stick around with your site & keep producing? If you are, then you'll be rewarded with good rankings... But they don't want to rank you well in those first couple of months in case that just like the others, you merely disappear. Hope that makes sense :)
Reply
Kyle Premium
That is what you are going to be learning as you move through the training, how to outrank others on the first page and you are going to become very good at this as time goes on...and as your website gains authority you will instantly acquire more and more first page rankings.

This is just one of the many ways of getting traffic to your website, and we are going to be covering this in detail as you move through the training. You will be a Google expert before you know it.

The Secrete of Success like the "Snack Football Helmet" a good idea! To find the right niche is the art of marketing! Wow I`m impressed! I always watch Shark Tank on TV to get some ideas, here in Germany we have a similar show called "Die Höhle des Löwen" means some thing like "The Lions Cage " build up just like Shark Tank. The circle of Affiliate Marketing looks so easy, but to be successful you really have to do your home work! I really like the first Lesson with the Keyword Search and Long Tail Keywords, without Traffic you have no customers and no revenue!

Thank you for breaking affiliate marketing down. I know this is something that I can do. Of course I want to create an income to support my family and I also want creative freedom. I started out with just wanting to sell my products online and while there are sites like etsy and pinterest of which are helpful - selling my products alone is not going to generate the income I need. However, affiliate marketing can. And I already have my main niche because I have 20+ years of experience working with all natural ingredients as well as multiple arts and crafts mediums. I just have to say that I am so freakin happy that I found WA!!!

This is definitely something that you can do and you can take this business as far as you are willing to work towards. You can sell your products, or others over time. The key is focusing on building an audience and a solid base of traffic first.

Once you have that and understand the process of attain the massive sources of traffic online (which we will be teaching you), the monetization part is the easy part.

I understand the process and Google search then you the results,
Next you come information your looking for a product.

This can be done with almost any product the world is your oyster as such.

Each seller pays commission on each product bought simply and easy system,

I am interested in learning the process of setting up a website with links to such Amazon or another website,

What is the cost involved in setting up websites and implementing links for purchases from them.

It's understanding the background processes like backlinks and codes, also SEO on your website with best results for optimization, Google bots etc

I have made my own websites before with weebly and didn't sell on there but I was doing research and posting my findings on my website, I was getting over 100 hits a day without really pushing seo keywords.

Really interesting stuff to learn here thank for a brilliant video.

Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate. We’re happy to meet you, David.

It sounds like you've come to the right place. Just follow the training program step-by-step and try not to move on to the next lesson until you have completed all the recommended tasks and checked them off the checklist. This is important because later lessons are often built on the foundation work you did previously.

If you have and questions or need anything, please don't hesitate to ask. We're all here to help :-)

Hey there Ryan. Glad to hear you're enjoying yourself so far.

So the first thing to understand. Making money with a website takes time. Even the age of your domain name is a factor to ranking well, receiving traffic, and making money.

I say that because time passing in the online business world is really a good thing for your site. Even if you can't devote as much time as you'd like at this point.

If you can devote one hour a day to learning and applying it (going through the training) you can 100% make money with a website, but it will take more time than someone that has several hours a day to devote to this.

The awesome thing is making money with a website is pretty passive. Meaning the work you do today, pays off a month or even years down the line.

If you're serious about making a real income online WA is the best place to be to learn how. If you learn and apply you will see results. It may take more time to see your first traffic and first $1 but if you keep at it it's 100% possible for you to achieve success with your website on just 1 hour a day.

Let me know if you have any other questions or need anything else.

when doing your site and finding the product , Can you have more than one affiliate link connected to that product? Or is it wise to only have one link associated? I ask the question because if I go to Amazon sometimes they maybe out of the product but also have other places where the product could be purchased and they also have an affiliate link for the item?
Reply
KBurris1 Premium
In my opinion, I think it would depend on the post. More than likely it would be best to use one affiliate link for the same item within the post. But if your review mentions various places to purchase, then sure link each one. Otherwise if there are multiple links that take costumers to different sites from the same review, it may create confusion.

It is becoming more clear as to what I need to do. I have a general field of interest which I would like to work in but I see that field and be broken down into at least three different niches that are loosely related in the the overall field of emergency preparedness.
Reply

Yeah, I would recommend you narrow it down to something more specific when starting out. You can always diversify, you just don't want to be too broad with your niche when starting out as it typically leads to a sensation of being overwhelmed.

quick question,

i tried affiliate marketing before, as a newbie it was hard to get affiliates because it required my website to have a certain amount of traffic. How do i go about driving traffic to my website so that i can be accepted by other companies as an affiliate?

Hi - that is exactly what this platform will teach you, so don't get ahead of yourself or you will miss out some important steps. Follow the training to build your own professional website first, then the rest will follow. Basically, it is writing interesting and valuable content, which attracts Google's attention, and puts you higher in the rankings. It's not a get rich quick scheme, but it's worth the time, effort and patience that is required.

Please excuse the “newbie” question but it is my understanding that in order to be placed first in line on a Google search that extensive dollar outlays are required. Any time one does a Google search it shows the often times millions of sites available to click on in relation to your query.
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - the first 2 or 3 results are usually ads paid for by big companies, but all the rest are there simply by having the valuable content that people are searching for. This is achievable by anybody having a website. Within the training here, not only will you be taught how to build a professional website, but also how to add articles that contain the answers that people need.
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
Not true at all. Plenty of people have scored the top result and never paid a dime. Google ranks based on quality, plain and simple. Ranking is based on you providing the best result for that particular search topic or keyword. Thus, the real question is does the content you put out "deserve" to be in first place? If so, then you will get there in time. If not, no amount of money will help.
Reply
Basically you find a product or passion you want to sell then you find a dropshipper or company that has product build a website listing the product when customer makes a buy they send order to you. then you send order from supplier dropshiper to customer you keep the difference in the price of the item.
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yeah, you don't need a drop shipper. It is potentially one way you could monetize your website but there are much more efficient ways of doing this (ie affiliate marketing). That is what you are going to be learning in detail as you move through the training.

I might have missed it (I’m trying to catch what I can with my limited free time lately), but I was wondering about the rules of affiliate links online. I thought bloggers or websites are required to say their links are affiliate links or make a statement about that on their page or their website, or does that only apply to blogs? Just wondering about the legal side of things.

I also heard amazon affiliate links can’t be used in e-mails and if you send out a ton of e-mails to people; it violates a law something like the can spammers act? I forget the exact title of each.

In addition, I heard you have to have a P.O. Box address to put on any e-mails or your website to make you e-mails legal as well and maybe your website?

Lastly, I was confused about setting up where people would e-mail a website/where all those e-mails are stored, setting up an official non-gmail or yahoo account, and the e-mail service provider which sends your newsletters if they give you an inbox where people can e-mail to or how that works. I don’t know if wealthy affiliate talks about that or if this is just a website discussing affiliate links only so that might be off-topic, not sure....

I just don’t want to get into any kind of trouble which is why I’ve stayed away from posting my blog with affiliate links in the past. I would like to maybe in the future. I also wonder if there is anything I need to worry about for taxes or if it is extra complicated if I started an affiliate blog or site someday in addition to what I’m already trying to sell.

Thanks in advance for any help with these questions! Also, thank you for making a site like this!

I totally understand the process of affiliate marketing prior to watching the video, which I must compliment as it is really easy to follow and goes through the process of it without making affiliate marketing sound difficult or scary, a definate confidence booster. The part I am finding difficulty with and I prefer to be honest is finding the right product provider for my three niches which are health and fitness,Wrestling and cooking, I already have the domain names for all three this is well before coming across WA , I really wish I had come across WA first as I have no doubt I would be further along with my ventures than I am now. I do have a question and that is I am allowed to be apart of WA even though I already have my domains I am really hoping I can.

Hi - yes, of course, you are welcome to continue your training here at WA. If you were to upgrade to premium, you could actually transfer your sites here providing they are built on the WordPress platform, as hosting is included in premium membership. Plus, premium gives you access to the rest of the lessons and videos, which might be more beneficial for you, as the first 10 do cover building a website, which clearly you have already done.

As regards product providers, simply Google health and fitness + affiliate program or wrestling + affiliate program. You will probably need to narrow down each of your niches as they are very broad and have a lot of competition.

when you affiliate with amazon you will need to apply to each of the regions you are interested in. there is a plugin called onelink and if you install this it automatically sends visitors to the tight region of amazon.
same with other worldwide programs.
find out why you were denied and sort that out before you apply again.

When you are operating within the niche, it doesn't come back to WA. We have no involvement, you promote products and services on your website, you get paid from those companies through their affiliate programs. We don't take a "cut" of anything, you get everything.

I'm wondering whether it costs the WA affiliate to have "free shipping" contract with the warehouse in California or elsewhere, or whether the buyer pays for EVERYTHING it costs the customer to have the items shipped to their doorstep or p.o.box. Are there other fees that are optional for each AP?

Every affiliate program is different depending on the company providing it. In general, however, all of that is taken care of on their end. You are simply promoting the product/service and redirecting the potential buyer to their site for the purchase. Just make sure you read the affiliate agreement to be sure.

Am really enjoying these important lessons, I have a question though
1. What are the requirements to be affiliated with a company such as Amazon or
any other, I know it may differ but is there a standard requirement?

2. Can I be given help in choosing a great niche or am to strictly do that myself
because I'd really like to be helped in that area
Reply
DianeScorpio Premium
Hi - there are literally thousands of affiliate programmes, so it is difficult to answer your question, as they all have different requirements. Be aware that Amazon expects you to have 3 sales within the first 180 days, or they will remove you. Therefore, it is best to wait until you have enough visitors to your site, to ensure that you make those sales. Other programmes sometimes expect your website to be well-established with plenty of informative articles before you are accepted.

It's best if you choose your own niche because it has to be a subject that you are really interested in. Remember, you will be expected to write lots of articles, so find something that you can happily talk about, and that has relevant products that you can promote.

The best time to start joining the affiliate programs you're going to be looking into is when you get to that point in the training. Don't ever put off things that you're tasked to do because you think you're not ready. The training here is meant for absolute newbies, so when Kyle tells you to jump out and apply with Amazon, do it! There's no harm or foul if after 6 months you haven't made a sale with their program. You can simply re-apply.

Amazon is usually the first program that people will apply to since they don't require any minimum traffic requirements. As you progress through the training building out your site and your content, your traffic numbers will grow. Be patient. So many people think that with their first article they're going to have loads of traffic. It's just a matter of putting your head down and trusting this training. It's all set up for your success. Continue progressing and learning and the traffic will come down the line.

Again, don't hesitate to apply for Amazon when you get to that point in the training. Complete the tasks your given and never tell yourself you're not ready :)

In lesson 2 the info was very simplistic and for me that is great. My niche is the hard thing to think about tattooing and tattoo supplies are like the back of my hand I know them very well and I believe that I can use that as my niche for art industry
Reply
mcb247 Premium
Hey Connis, great to meet you here. I think that tattooing could be a great niche, this could bring local business to yourself, and the supplies could be world wide.

My only concern would be what other products could you sell to a mass market to scale your business. If its your passion this will work in your favour too.

I wish you every success

So what do you think cause besides tattooing supplies there will be other products that haas anything to do with artists artwork and also was thinking of doing instructional videos on the process of tattooing
Reply
mcb247 Premium
All of these are great ways to add to your income, but these are all aimed at other tattoo artists and that niche could be too small. Need to come up with something that you could sell to the people having the tattoo and this would be a much larger market.

Could you design and then copyright your designs and then charge a fee for people to use it ?
Reply
Kyle Premium
That can absolutely be a direction you head, there is a huge audience within the tattoo space (as you are aware of) and there are all sorts of ways you can monetize this niche and establish your brand as you build it out.

Tattoo supplies certainly could be the direction that you head, helping fellow tattoo artists!

In lesson 2 I see that I can affiliate with many companies. I see that one core component to any business is a website. Google is a component or website. Am I right? And a niche is the type of programs that I will be going to,to promote to generate revenues. So, what I understand from this is,I affiliate with companies, then bring them to, is it my website or it to like or Amazon or what ever websites? And about the niche, what are the programs that I will be promoting to? Are the programs like Google and Amazon and others?

Your website is like your home on the internet everything you do should be sending people to your website... Google is like an advertising platform for your website you are trying to rank in Google for certain keywords which will then drive traffic to your site.

Your niche is what you are writing about on your website.

I trust this helps

hi Kyle, thanks for the video. I am already blogging but finding it real difficult to ''define'' my niche. It is more or less a lifestyle blog focusing on self empowerment and personal development (or so i think). What do one do in this instance? The confusion of a well defined niche? Also are there good affiliates for such a website? Thanks!
Reply
Kyle Premium
I would try to avoid a lifestyle blog. The reason being this is more about you, and less about your audience. To be successful online, ideally you want to become an authority in a specific niche. It is the experts within the online world that typically reap all of the rewards.

There are affiliate programs for everyone, so never worry about that. There are over 550 MILLION products/services that you can promote as an affiliate alone!

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

I am a complete novice in this. just to be clear: you set up a website, draw people who are searching online to it, your site diverts them to where to get the product they are interested in?
If they purchase a product through your site, you get paid- Correct?

I hadn't realized how large a market there is for snack helmets. I will be interested in seeing what other niche's there are. Football isn't my thing so I would really like to find my own niche. I hope that there is one or more that I would like to promote that could be as large a market as the snack helmet.

Well 100's of millions of people watch football every week during the season, most of these people have social get togethers that involve football. They like their teams, they like snacks.

This is actually a "mini niche" compared to many others, the opportunity is just so vast within the online world that you can literally head in any direction that you want and there will be a great deal of opportunity!

I still get giddy when I think of all the opportunity out there!

Hi Kyle, nice introduction to the process. Thank you. Crystal clear vision that is. As I see it, the secret is in the "sending traffic to your website" part
through high rankings within the various search engines. Making website with nice quality content, yes, high rankings however is the key to succes, specially in the early days. We get some sort of introduction about this whole keywords/ranking game? Once traffic generated, quality content will do the rest. Thanks Dav.

You will get there as you go through the training, the first focus with your website is to build out the foundation, the content and get rankings. Once you have rankings and traffic then you can focus on what you are going to promote.

There are 10,000's of affiliate programs and millions of products you are going to be able to promote as an affiliate, don't ever worry about there being nothing to promote within a given niche. There will likely be 100's if not 1,000's of things you can promote. ;)

There is no sense in putting to much thought into what you are going to promote until you have content in place and an audience to promote to. You will definitely get there though!

This was great information, alhough I have a couple of techincal questions and would really appreciate anyone answering:
1- How does the e-marketing website such as Amazon ( for example ) make sure that a purchased some of their product thanks to my website promoting them?
2- How does Google's system of ranking websites work? What factors do they consider?

Disclaimer: I don't know yet if these questions are answered in next tutorials.

When you are using affiliate links to promote products (for example Amazon products) each link carries a unique affiliate ID which will grant you the credits.

The google ranking system is based on a very complex algorithm which contains more than 200 different factors. Some of them are more important then others ... Just follow the training Daniel and your questions will be answered ...

Yes, both are answered in the training program in detail, but here are the basics in a nutshell:

1) They use a piece of code called a "cookie" that attaches itself to the person's computer with your unique affiliate number so anything purchased get's credited to you. Just be aware that depending on the particular company the timeframe varies. For instance, I believe Amazon's cookie only lasts for 24 hours, whereas others may last 30 days or even a few that use "lifetime" links. You have to read each company's affiliate agreement to see what they use.

2) To be perfectly honest... no one knows. lol. Seriously, though, Google's algorithms are proprietary and kept secret, but based on experience we can tell basically what they are giving weight to.

Knowing that Google wants to match the most relevant and useful information and websites with its users, you know that good content is the primary factor.

Without going into a massive SEO lecture, just suffice it to say that Kyle and the gang here at WA have had over a decade to figure it out, so if you follow the training and complete each task you will be in a great position.

Hope this helps. If you have any more questions or need anything don't hesitate to ask; we're all here to help. :-)

When you join an affiliate program you will receive a unique code that represents you. This code is part of the affiliate links you use to promote the products on your site. As someone follows them a cookie is placed that let's Amazon, for example, know that your brought this shopper to them. You will then get credit for what they purchased.

A couple of things to note:
1) The cookie is good for 24 hours at Amazon
2) If the person goes to another site and follows their link to Amazon, they get the credit (it's basically last cookie wins).
3) If the person follows your link to a product on Amazon but they buy something else instead...you still get the credit!

A lot of things factor into Google's ranking system. Site age, word count, content quality, internal links, external links and so on. Check out Jay's ranking video...it's pretty good:

That's my "story" as well. What brought me here was the idea that I could make money through affiliate marketing. But after I started I realized that it was the process itself -- building websites and creating content -- that was my true passion. It completely changed the way I do business. Now the money is almost secondary; it's just not my focus anymore. I treat it as almost a nice side benefit, because I enjoy the process so much I would still do all of this even if I weren't getting paid.

Yes, it's definitely exciting. One small warning, however (okay, more of a tip really).

There will come a point, sooner or later, where you are putting in a ton of work and getting very little, if any, reward for it. For instance, one of my mentors just posted a comment where he stated that he put out content every single day for six months and only had a whopping $8 in sales to show for it.

It's at a point like that where you may be exhausted and begin to think it's just not worth it. And it's precisely at that point where you shouldn't.

Stay the course and keep going. I recently listened to a podcast where a blogger stated that she worked on her site creating content seven days a week for an entire year and had made less than $2000 by the end of year one. BUT... By the end of year two she had made close to $70,000, and by the end of year three she was at $300,000 plus!

The point is not that that will happen to us (we don't really know, do we?). The point is that had she given up at that proverbial $8 point, she would never have reached the hundreds of thousands.

If (when, rather) you get to that point, I want you to promise you will reach out to me and the rest of the community. We have all been there and we can help guide you through your "dark night of the soul" moment. YOU CAN DO THIS! :-)

Take care, and keep us posted of your progress.

I'm sorry to hear that. Let's see if we can help...

First things first, don't worry about the "making money" part just yet. There are literally hundreds of millions of products and services out there for practically any niche you can think of, so when you get to that point I'm sure you will find plenty.

For now, you need to concentrate on finding your audience, connecting with them, and providing useful information that will help with their challenges -- the same challenges you have experienced.

It sounds to me like you don't necessarily have a "niche" problem so much as you have a customer definition problem. Really think about who it is that you are targeting. Create a character sketch (aka Customer Avatar) of your perfect customer. Be as detailed as you can (e.g. Woman, 35 years old, 5'4", three kids, overweight, drives a blue 2010 Volvo, etc.). Marketing to a single individual -- even a pretend one in this case -- is easier than trying to market to, well, everybody.

One way to approach it is to think about the kinds of things you searched for when you were experiencing these things. How did you define the problem? What keywords were you typing into Google?

What potential solutions did you find? What solutions did you not find, but would have been what you were looking for? Where did you "hang out" (forums, chat rooms, etc.) online to connect with people dealing with similar circumstances?

Spend some time on this. The more well-defined your perfect customer is the easier it will be to reach them.

Understand the foundation first and go from there. The video was very clear as to the process of making money. I appreciate that!

One question I did have, although I am sure will be covered later is: If the person does not buy on first click, but goes back later, are they still linked to your site? I'm always looking forward.

The affiliate link "lifespan" is attached to the cookie life that the affiliate program has. For example, Amazon has a 24 hour cookie. If someone goes to Amazon and buys within 24 hours (without visiting another affiliate link), you get credit.

That is on the lower end of the the cookie life. Wealthy Affiliate has "lifetime" cookies, meaning if someone visits WA through your affiliate link and buys several years down the road, you could potentially still get credit for the sale.

The last affiliate that someone goes through before they make the purchase always gets the sales commissions.

Very good question here Phyllis and I hope this clarifies for you here.

This is truly eye opening. It discussed in detail why getting ranked on Google is important.

The first step is having your niche, which have to do with interest. Interest might be an influence of financial drive, showcase hobby or talents, etc. This method can be applied to both micro and high level niches.

How affiliate marketing turns to cash by earning commissions from the products one promotes.

Thanks, Kyle for this, and I hope we're going to learn in detail how to get ranked on Google search so as to come atop when a search is made in our niche.

There's no such thing as "too late".

Think back... how many massively successful search engines were in control of the market when a little newbie company called Google came along? How many previously untouchable department stores are now bankrupt because a greenhorn named Jeff Bezos started selling books out of his rented garage and calling it Amazon?

Don't let your life be dictated by someone else's success. Use it to motivate yourself to just work harder.

I may be jumping ahead here, but is the training oriented totally towards affiliate marketing?

I have several of my own products (e-books and videos) in the health and fitness niche (which includes such sub-topics as weight loss and anti-ageing) and am really looking for a platform to launch them, both as once-off products and recurring memberships.

Do you cover this at all?

Of course, I'd have no objection to promoting relevant affiliate products on these sites as well, particularly as I'd capture the customer's details into my mailing list as part of the process.

Interesting, makes me realize why so many websites that I visit exist and operate. Good explanation on how it works! Thanks. I do have a couple questions: 1. In the example of the snack football helmet, is the price the same for the helmet through the affiliate's website as it would be if a buyer went directly to Amazon? 2. If the buyer wants to return the helmet, is that all taken place through Amazon and the affiliate then owes Amazon the commission back?

Hi BH, as best I understand how this works the price is the same whether you go through the affiliate link or not
I don't know the answer to your second question - I'll be interested in the answer from someone who does

It is very exciting that something like football snack helmets could generate $600-$1000 per month and we're really only talking about one product type that is being offered. I know that even a site like this takes quite a bit of work and effort to get setup, but it's nice to see the potential if you keep building and developing your website and skills in affiliate marketing.
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yeah, exactly. This site could scale into many other facets (although I don't believe Jay has any plans to), but there is opportunity to grow it through college helmets, custom helmets, high school helmets, and even other football branded snacking gear.

This is one very targeted niche but there are literally MILLIONS of niches like this out there that you can leverage.

This is cool. Now, if it will be to pick my affiliate links, would you go for an affiliate marketing platform like Share a sale or go straight to the supplier? Just by looking around I noticed that every retailer I liked links you to a different affiliate network. It’s complicated. Am I going to sign up for an affiliate platform and pick my brands from there or pick my brands first and then sign up with several affiliate networks? Thanks in advance.

Its best to affiliate yourself with whatever company fits your Niche and the products within that Niche.

Just type in your niche/affiliate program and you should get results.

Great Video, this site is just about snack helmets so I presume there is not a load of content added regularly to it.

How would you drive traffic to a site like this? Just Google or paid ads? Is it worth doing some sites like this too as well as having a niche you are constantly adding content to?
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yeah, not on that particular site. Jay has many other projects he is working on, but there is potential to scale that into other types football helmets, custom snack helmets, college snack helmets, and even to branch off into other types of team branded snacking hear (placemats, serving dishes, etc)

So this could scale at some point and maybe it will, but for now it is consistently bringing revenue in each and every month from it's rankings in Google. You could scale that traffic with paid ads in Bing/Google/Yahoo, Facebook ads, Instagram, etc.

If you want to treat this as your real business, frankly speaking, you need capital. There is no business in this world that is set up freely. But building your online business is so much cheaper that opening a physical store. You should still be able to earn money using all the free stuff but again, frankly speaking it's going very challenging as there are things that you need to figure out yourself.
But with small initial capital you can start building your website (business) properly.
You need the right training, tools and people to really make is happen.
All the best.

You've got to speculate to accumalate. As 'newmarketpro' states, think of it as a business that will shape and develop over time. If you put in the work and focus on it, you may just make your initial investment back, think of it as investing in yourself, your wellbeing and future. I like yourself was a starter and did sweat over a premium membership and credit card use but the platform and training is top notch (it is for me so far) and I saw a drop in price in the Black Friday deal so just thought - "do it" and here I am.

Just speaking for myself. If I searched for a product online and Amazon came up in the search or Wal-Mart or some other recognizable name, I am probably going to click directly on the Amazon or Wal-Mart link. I dont think i would ever click on an unrecognizable link, and if i did and it directed me to one of the other sites I would close out of it and go to that site directly. I'm not trying to be negative, just realistic. Thoughts or comments?

Well that can happen, but many people will research products/services before they buy or look for the best price. A high percentage of ALL transactions online have an affiliate involved at some point. I buy stuff from Amazon regularly, but I find myself going through affiliates much of the time because I do my research first.

Hi there. I am astounded by this process. I have a question though. Do potential customers that come to these affiliate marketing sites not feel the sites are biased ? For example a site that reviews products and then has links to buy these products. My cautious self would think the reviews were biased to encourage you to buy. Hopefully this isn't the case as I think this is a great way to build a business. Thank you v much :).
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
I am not too far ahead of you in the training, so I'm can't speak specifically, but I'm sure this is covered at some point. From what I can tell so far, particularly the lessons on content writing, such concerns may be a result of how your site looks and reads. The "money" part comes later, after you have established quality content and have built up traffic. At that point, I would think it would just be a natural progression. Pushing products/services too early, however, and I do believe a site would appear biased and only interested in money.

Consider the sites you visit yourself. If you went to one that didn't have much helpful content, but was screaming for you to buy something, you would likely be turned off. But I'm assuming that there are sites you visit now that also recommend products that don't give off the same vibe because you feel like they are actually there to help you and you trust their opinion.

In the end, I think it all comes down to how you put it together... it will only feel biased if you write it that way. Perhaps a tip: one way that I have seen with sites I frequently go to that sell products and services, but I still trust, is that they make sure to do a thorough, unbiased review, warts and all. Show the potential that pros AND the cons and let the customer make the final decision. People these days are smart, and everyone knows no product is perfect, and by trying to cover up the negatives you only raise alarm bells with most people. Just strive to be honest with all of you content and it won't be a problem.

Hope this helps.

Hi Kyle,

Thank you for the demonstration, I have few questions about the business:
1) I'm assuming that the companies who we would be affiliated with pays commission on the total purchase done not only on the product the customer clicked on!

2) In this marketing business, since we are doing the same thing, I feel that we might be competing against each other specialty when 2 or more marketers are marketing the same exact items or niche.
Reply
AJTrimble1 Premium
It is true that there will be competition. But that’s not always a bad thing. Indeed, a lack of competition is the first sign that you may have a bad market to begin with: no one is looking for what it is that you’re selling.

Here’s a tip. In my offline world of business analysis, we refer to it as a USP, or Unique Selling Proposition. In other words, what is it that separates you from the competition? As an example, look at it from one of the most mundane and competitive niches out there… hamburgers.

You practically can’t go anywhere these days without finding a hamburger joint on every street. McDonald’s. Wendy’s. Burger King. Five Guys. Etc. Now, why on earth would anyone get into the hamburger business? Well, for one, there’s certainly demand. But perhaps more importantly, everyone puts their own unique spin on it and thinks theirs is the better burger. There’s no mistaking a Wendy’s burger, for instance, from a BK Whopper. And Five Guys? Fuhgeddaboudit! One of the best “fast food” burgers I’ve had.

So, don’t be afraid of competition. In many ways, a lot of competition is great; it means there must be a hungry (no pun intended) market out there looking for what you’re offering. Just try and brainstorm and come up with all the ways that what you’re selling is different—and hopefully better—than everyone else.

Hope this helps.

AJ

As affiliate marketer your options for Unique Selling Proposition are somewhat limited, but you can still can do it by offering some bonuses to buyers, so they'll rather buy from you than someone else.
Let's say you're selling cars as affiliate marketer, you could offer buyers free car wash voucher for X months if they buy from you.

Hello Warren,
It takes time to build your site and traffic to a point where you'll make money. Several factors also play a role:

effort put forth on your part, niche, competition, content quality, regularity (how often) of posts, traffic, engagement (comments) and so on.

I happen to make a whopping $3 I think it was on my second or 3rd month and that was from Amazon affiliate sales of small drone accessories ($10 item here and there, etc.). I'm at 8 months and averaging about $100 a month but I need to give my site more attention.

If you see the value in WA and what you can do with it, I suggest you take advantage of the Black Friday annual deal for $299. You do pay it all at once but if you do the math it comes out to less than $25 per month. That's a great deal and an inexpensive investment in your online business.

Hi Warren, we have talked about this stuff in private, and the truth is you need to keep doing the training. Think that was the first time I've seen what an affiliate was in a way that was simple to understand, my question on this would be is it better for your niche to be broader or more narrow, say I wanted to make mine about wrist watches which I have a liking for,now would it be better to do it on all wrist watches, or my particular favorite brand Citizen & it's solar powered Eco Drive line...? My guess would be the to go broader but since this is new to me I don't want to assume...
Reply
merlynmac Premium
I’d consider the broader option and then maybe starting off with citizen.
Reply
HelenpDoyle Premium
It is not too hard to broaden a niche once you're started as long as you set out your website well initially.

What I did was, I had a broadish niche so I split my menu into a bunch of pages. Each page was a bit of the broader niche. I did an intro to those bits on the page and then hung all my posts from the appropriate page.

So you could start your niche with the standard pages as per About you and your niche, your Privacy Policy etc. Then do your first individual page as Citizen. Do the Citizen Intro on the page and why, in general you like these wrist watches. Then go on and do your blogs and reviews and attach them to that page. The name of the page becomes your category so you can do internal links from all posts to it as well as define them in the category.

When you find another brand and you want to write about it do a new page and follow the same steps. Obviously you don't want to go overboard unless your are really good at organising all this as your site could become unwieldy.

Finding a niche can be one of the most difficult tasks in a world full of commonalities. To simplify the process and to make it more pleasurable, here are my journaled suggestions using WA as inspiration:

1. Find something you love...
-Multiple streams of income, entrepreneurship, community, empowerment, motivation, inspiration, etc.

2. Take your love for the lifestyle or craft and think of something you think would be of value to the consumer(yourself). Most times, we're the initial customer...
-WealthAffiliates created a wonderful community to empower, educate, and connect a community of individuals seeking financial freedom through entrepreneurship. How awesome is that?!

3. Never lose sight of your mission and continue to sow...
-Cultivation is a process... Planting and nurturing those seeds are imperative. For without them, you'll have nothing to harvest. The weather may be unpredictable, but all storms can be weathered with proper provisions.

When doing something you love, it rarely seems like a chore. Why should it? You're eager to reach the top of the skyscraper after laying that solid foundation while serving as many as possible. Entrepreneurs should be obsessed with the satisfaction of their customer base. Finding that one niche where you can slide in can definitely ensure longevity. The money will follow. Fin

WealthAffiliates, thank you for creating this platform. I'm excited to embark on this journey with everyone here.

The video shows the search process of a buyer like the main example, how it supposed to happen. However, by my own experience, there's other way to reach my goal as a buyer: I'm using Google Search, checking if an item is available on amazon or eBay, comparing prices here and there, shipping costs, few different specifics of an item and making my decision where to buy from. If amazon or eBay don't have desired item, I'm going to a manufacturer's website to buy strictly from them. So as soon as its kind of clear(ish) and obvious with manufacturers (or they can have affiliates on their own websites?), - seems I'm hitting affiliatess' lottery on amazon and eBay? I guess somebody is getting commission anyway, so who's that somebody on that case?
And second question: my passion is about dogs - psychology, behavior, training - so I'm wondering if there's such a niche talking of making money online.
I apologize again if my questions sound silly. Thanks in advance.

Hi Tanyach,

I have to be honest I am a bit lost with your first question but just know that Billions of dollars are spent on Amazon alone each year in the US alone, so trust me when I say there are buyers. Not only that, but you can also promote products from other vendors as you please. So Amazon is a great place to start but you can absolutely branch out to other affiliate offers if you think it's worth it.

Absolutely, the overall 'dog niche' is MASSIVE and there are so many ways you can break this niche down. So your idea of dog psychology and behavioural training is definitely viable.

Hope this helps!

Thank you Tim! ...sorry for such an unclear formulation. What I wanted to bring up is: sometimes buyers aren't clicking links on a website to get an item. So when they are choosing to buy it straight from eBay or amazon, for instance, or from a manufacturer - just a random affiliate is payed the commission, - is that correct? And if so, I assume, to make a buyer choose my website I need to have not overpriced item except other criterias' making a purchaser happy - ?..
Reply
TimMcKinlay Premium
Ah ok I see what you mean now. That is correct, yes. If the person chooses to not click on your link and go directly to the vendors site, then either no affiliate gets that commission or the affiliate who's link that visitor last clicked on will get it.

I would not be concerned about this as affiliate marketing is a numbers game. As long as you are following the process, you will earn commissions. People have every reason to click on your link if they want to buy, the main one being it is just easier to click your link, rather than navigate away from your page and then go to the same site they were going to go to anyways.

On the process and how it works: When a customer makes a search on the internet from Google or another search engine, customer will be given choices as to which link or URL they would like to visit. If they choose our website or storefront and make a purchase through our affiliate link, we will be paid an affiliate commission.
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yes, exactly the case. You are going to be learning how to rank well under search terms in Google, people come to your website, they get help, the click a link to go buy a product, you get credit.

This is one way of many to get free traffic, but this strategy (SEO) alone can lead to a full time and sustainable income.

Since we are on the topic of defining what a niche is, let me also ask. Can a niche also be something that you are good at or have a lot of knowledge about but necessarily something that you are passionate about. Let me give an example. Growing up in school I hated having to write in short hand but I was really good at it to the point where I was top in my class. So should we also be looking at those markets as well?
Reply
merlynmac Premium
Absolutely. Take a surviving cancer niche. If you lived through it, you probably have a lot of knowledge about it but you're probably not passionate about it other than it being over. It's a niche.

The things you have to concern yourself with are can you write a lot about it and can you monetize it?

If you have many niches then I suggest many sites unless all of the niches are somehow related and then you might be able to have a primary niche site and sub-niche categories, etc.

Also, it only sells through Amazon at 6 percent.. A good place to start, but he also targeted a very small group of people.. I'm surprised that you can profit $1000 dollars a month from this.. His website looked awesome.. And he did his homework with his tags.. Nice.. The other site is similar to what I am looking to do.. It's a lot more complicated and requires extensive research on my part.. I hope y'all can help me with that.. Great comparison..

You pointed out some valid points.
Do you think people will only look for football helmet during football season? How about people that are into football training, football academy and so on. So the product is not really seasonal.

When you have authority in your niche (like the case study above), you only need to promote a few items to make it a success. And there are other related products you can bundle together with your promotion.

As you go through the training, you will realize that you only need a niche to really be successful with your niche site.

All the best.

My suggestion to all new people is this
Build 1 website and learn all the training step by step

When you have a truly solid foundation which is the key to success you may consider building another site however if you do this too soon, you will have to feed both sites and you will need a lot of time to do this to give them both what they need

1 website done well is the way to go

Questions: 1] Do I get the "Affiliate Link" before I create the "Niche Website" or vise-versa?

2] When the "Prospective Customer/Client" clicks on my site [which came up from the Search], are they taken to the "Parent Company" - the source of the Affiliate Link?

3] If the answer to #2 above is "Yes", do I still get a commission if the customer buys a different product from what my Affiliate Link offered?

4] What are the usual pre-requisites for a Parent Company to approve affiliate applications? Does one has to have a website to be an "Affiliate Marketer"?

5] Does WA include hosting in its Premium Membership?

1. Create your website and get content on it this comes first :)
2. When you attach your Affiliate Links to your website the client/customer will be taken to the
Parent Company (such as Amazon)
3. As an Amazon affiliate, the cookies are embedded that whatever the client/customer would
purchase for the next 24 hours whether through your website or not you will earn commission
4. Your second question here answers the first - you will need a website to be approved by a
company to become an affiliate - try to select companies that fit your niche
5. AS a Premium Member or Free member WA does including hosting for your website YES :)

It will be the main link. 2) If you are talking about the affiliate link, yes to the main site but you will get credit for anyone who joins. 3) Yes. From what I understand, that customer is forever connected to you. 4) No prerequesites that I am aware of. No, you don't have to have a website. I don't. 5) A ton more training, additional websites above the 2 free ones, a lot more templates to choose from for your websites and a ton of other goodies.

I have seen the process before and really like the concepts, hence signing up to WA. What I'm really keen to see is how to find the niche, build the website (as I'm not too interested in lots of technical build/maintenance) and focus the marketing to get the best results!

Can wait to start learning and get this moving with everyone on here.

Well all of that (and much more) is going to be covered in detail as you move through the training. Keep us updated as you do move forward Jason!

You are going to learn all about the process as you move through the training. At the core, you have a customer and you have a product. Your goal as an affiliate marketer is going to be aligning these two through relevant content.

Hey thanks for the video it does a great job of simplifying the overall process. However I had been led to believe that the real power of the affiliate method was in the power of building e-mail lists and follow-up mailing. Does the course cover this? Or have I been going down the wrong path?

It is covered in the Premium training.

You have been lead astray. Email marketing will become part of your business at some point, but it certainly should not be a focus early on.

I don't recommend worrying about an autoresponder or getting into email marketing until you have a source of traffic no less than 100 clicks per day.

If you focus on email marketing before that, it is far too premature and you will end up spending too much time on managing your list, broadcasts, follow-up sequences, integration into your site, etc...without focusing on the most important thing first. Traffic!

Hi Adriana!

You've cited what is the IN THING -- well, frankly, you are the "in-thing" -- it's all about your enthusiastic ability to engage an audience through your blog posts as a recognized authority on your selected niche --

.... hope you've had a chance to view Kyle's post on this: All the best with your training -- keep going onward & upward to success, cheerio... 😊

Great training video that explains how to make money online as an affiliate.
The snack helmet site just seems so easy though..is it really this easy? The website just seems to be links to Amazon etc, not really full of good relevant blog posts? Can you just put up a static site like that and earn without needing to update it with daily/weekly content?
Maybe this kind of site/product doesn't need that kind of content..or me not having a clue about the work behind it..it just seems to good to be true..?
So if was this skilled and i put three sites like this up in time I can earn 3000/month with almost no updating of content..? while other types of sites demand constant updating like blog posts, reviews etc?

First of all, the site in the video just as an example. If you want to look proper affiliate website, you can search any tech review blog. They're making money with affiliate marketing with Amazon.

You need to update your website atleast once a week because Google wants you to be active. Google wants your website is to be active and not a scam website.

So, go through the training and keep building your site. Then you'll understand clearly how hard to make money with affiliate marketing.

A good question. ..... it is interesting to know if there are different 'types' of affiliate sites with some being more labour-intensive than others .... much depends on your passion and knowledge about your niche market and the more you can help your customer the better .... even review sites require some work initially and then constant updating ....

Hey, Kyle - thanks for the informative video! Just wondering... once someone accesses an affiliate website through the link on my page, do I earn commission on their entire purchase? E.g. say they go to Amazon via the link on my site for the "snack helmet" or whatever product, and while they're there they also purchase some peanuts to go into the helmet - I would get a commission based on the entire purchase, right?

Anybody directed to Amazon site through your link and make purchase(s), including other products, all those will be credited to you as long as the purchase is completed within 24 hours from the minute they landed to Amazon site. So you're right.

The cookies can be expanded to 90 days if you directed your affiliate link to Amazon cart.
There are themes which allows this configuration which means your visitors would need to add their products to the cart on your site before proceeding to amazon cart before come to product page. But many do not favor this due to the strange flow of checking out.

Great tutorial!
I have a question.
Talking of niches, can we call "snack helmets" a niche? It seems like it's just a product offered in many shops. Choosing a niche, can I pick several? e.g. I'm into fashion, make up, sports and fitness etc. Is it going to be all on one website? Is it like a blog where I share my experience and giving links to where people could buy it? How do I know that a company has an affiliate program?
Thanks

Kyle will show you how to find affiliate programs in Level 3 of your training, but here's a great introduction webinar too: One niche should be for one website, unless you want to go bit broader.

For example, Jay chose "snack helmets". You could also have done something like "tailgating recipes" as your niche, then included snack helmets as one of your main themes, or even just a few reviews on your site.

It just depends on how YOU want to structure your business.

Hi

I live in South Africa, will this effect my marketing in any way. In the sense that, will the products/services which I am deciding to market, hinder my marketing range.

My only concern would be that, for example, some of the Amazon products/services that I would like to market, are unavailable to be imported to South Africa. What is the likelihood that many of these companies would not want to deliver from USA,etc. when it is a single item being purchased.

Also, what if there is a customer not from USA. Do these companies limit to where they deliver to.

Hoping I make sense. Tried my best to explain in writing :)

Good question!! Id also love to know

The thing is, you can be located anywhere in the world and promote products/services to anyone. You could be in SA, getting traffic to your website from the US, selling to the US. You don't have to necessarily promote anything to your country or even target them with your promotions.

In saying this, there are certainly affiliate programs and opportunities to promote to folks within South Africa. We have MANY members from SA here as part of the community, some of whom are the most successful members here!

I've seen the words "Make Money Online" but no one ever gives you an idea of how its done, Instead they ask you to click and that is when you find out they are looking for something you don't have. The words Affiliate Marketing is new to me. I found this website approx. 8 am today.I came out of bed determined to find a job and in looking I found this offer. It was not what I was looking for but it was interesting enough for me to take a look' The videos I've seen so far are clean clear and precise. It is encouraging and I cannot wait to get to the end.

wow such a great presentation thanks for this but among the many people who are affiliated with the same company and having the same niche what will make one outstanding so as to be chosen. Is it also possible that those who have been in the affiliate world longer than the newcomers stand a better chance?

Hi Marvert,

The great thing about being a part of the WA community is that you have tons of support. If you haven't got to the part in training about site feedback and site comments, you may want to check it out. These tools can actually help you get ranked.

Also, I understand that there are many people within the same niche, however, when you start writing more and more content you will gain followers that follow you because they want to hear what you specifically have to say.

Hi Marvert. I’m very concerned about choosing the niche. I am concerned about standing out in the ocean of sharks. I just started the training two days ago and I want to know what can I do
differently to excel in niches that are already controlled by experienced affiliates.

Great video. Very well explained. I can't help but notice the websites (snack helmets and the other one) had virtually no editorial content. Both were shopfronts. That's perfectly fine, of course ... but I'm looking forward to seeing how content can add economic value. My existing website has plenty of great content (I think ...) bit it lacks a business model! Looking forward to the rest of the course!

Hello Kyle, I am quite Impressed by this video which is the atom idea behind affiliate marketing. I think the explainations are very clear to understand. I just want to know if for example I am promoting a product on my website, I may integrate as many affiliate links in it for the product. Secondly, I want to know where and how to get content about the product to put on the web site
Reply
newmarketpro Premium
I am not sure how you can link a product to more than one affiliate link unless you create more than one content/post.

You can write your content from what you know, this can be from your own experiences or through your research the internet, watching Youtube, reading journals etc. Important thing is that you are able to explain the benefits of the product and try to give more information more than what is already on your competitors' sites.

The process as already implemented and laid out seems very simple. But as far as finding your niche has always been a confusing thing for me. I tried to do research on what a niche is and I still need some clarity on what it is. Because from my current understanding it seems as if its on the line of an industry but smaller.
Reply
Kyle Premium
Just don't make it any more complex than it actually needs to be. A niche can honestly be anything, what are you passionate about? What are you interested in?

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

I actually have an active affiliate website from a specific niche. It is listed on google. I haven't done anything with it, because I don't understand how yet. I have had the site for about 5 years. It is the mother company's website with a / and my particular tag. Can I use that link on a WA website of mine?

I noticed from the Dallas helmet snack video, that the key to getting many visitors on your website is to get your website ato the top of Google. I’m sure there are many websites, thousands maybe more, that are selling the same item that are sitting way below page one of Google. How do you get your website up to the top “quickly”?

I am so happy to find this Co. as I have spent time with frauds getting here. Now I am going to bed as it is now 2:00 in the morning but I was thinking of big home appliances for the kitchen. Would that work as do I narrow it down to say refrigerator s? Leave me comments please and I will work on it tomorrow. Thanks.
Reply
JohnCrossley Premium
The narrower you can do a niche the better you will find it for starting out, you could always focus on fridges and as your authority and brand build start to branch out into the kitchen. Will depend on your url and how relevant everything is to your readers. Hope that helps

sigauke Premium
Yes narrowing it down to refrigerator, Tv, etc is ok to reduce too much competition and it will make it easy for you to be an authority in that Niche. When writing blogs on your site, you could discuss different types, quality, and availability of those different refrigerators.

Very informative. While doing the research on Keywords in the Boot Camp Training to build my website promoting Affiliate Marketing, I discovered my Niche to build my website for products. It has been 35 years since I have been on a horse but there was a time when that was my passion. I did some research yesterday on Amazon and the possibilities are limitless. And they all lead back to the same beginning.
