This video training has one simple goal...

To help YOU understand the process of making money online.

It is actually more simplistic than you think. Although there are many ways in which people are creating successful businesses online, there is one core component to any successful business, a website.

In this video I walk you through the process right from the initial audience, to the search in Google, to the website, to the niche, to the types of programs that you are going to be promoting to generate revenue.

There are many ways that you can earn a full time income online once you understand the fundamentals and this video is going to clarify what the fundamental process is.

If you have any comments or questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to give you a hand.

I am interested in a niche that amazon is not very supportive of, being the firearm industry. I know it to be an expensive hobby, and there are plenty of online retailers. Is it easy to set up affiliations with other retailers? What about big brands directly? The likes of say a Nike or maybe a somewhat smaller business.
Reply

Yes, there are many affiliate programs and products and services that you can promote in any niche. This is knocking to be an issue and Nike products definitely have an affiliate program.

If you have a website though WA can someone who is not part of WA get access to it? For example a friend and I do various crafts we sell if we had a page together would she be able to access it to fully orders for her items? or would i have to be a go between?

Yes, you can share access to your wordpress website.

You can add a user on the wordpress console, and choose what level of access that person gets to your site.

So, lets say for example that I wanted to promote a blender from Amazon, however the blender is originally made from a different company, but amazon is selling it/promoting it. Would I have to make the link directly to the company that originally made the blender or can I still make the link to Amazon or does it not matter and I can do it either way I want?

~ Thanks, Jared
Reply

Hi Jared. When you are an Amazon.com affiliate, you would only need to use the affiliate links provided by Amazon. Therefore the blender link would be an Amazon affiliate link. You always want to use your affiliate links that are provided by the affiliate program you sign up with. That way, all sales are tracked and you get your commissions. Hope that helps!

Hi there WA Community,
so far these lessons I've gone through leave me with a desire to want to see what the next lesson is going to be. I haven't experienced the success I had hoped for with a couple of other online businesses, but I see that there were definitely things that I wasn't aware of at all. I like that I can expect to get a better understanding of what It takes to build an online business using affiliate links, keyword searches and so much more. I see this as a real opportunity to gain experience not just from the lessons offered but from the community that is here and willing to help the rest of us who are just learning.
This is gonna be fun!

I am a newby from Canada. The video mentions being an affiliate for Amazon. I checked the bottom of the home page of Amazon.ca and there is no mention of being an affiliate for Amazon.ca. However the bottom of the Amazon.com website does mention affiliate. Does the non-availability of affiliates for Canada with Amazon pose a potential problem for me?
Reply

You can be an affiliate of Amazon in Canada. I am not sure why you are not seeing that as an option. I am in the U.S. and signed up for both the U.S. and Canada Amazon affiliate programs.
Reply

Hello Swangirl, thank you for your reply. The term "affiliate" does not appear anywhere on the Amazon.ca home page. The closest term is "Amazon Associates". Perhaps with a US IP address you are receiving a different response from Amazon.

Is it as hard as it seems?
How do you determine what niche is best for you? There are so many different possibilities, and the rankings change like the breath of the wind.
Can this be dependable more than a old fashioned 9-5?
Can this give the independence to spend time with family without going in debt?

Anything can be a niche. It is usually better to choose something that you have either experience with or interest in. You will be writing a lot of content. You will want to have an interest in your niche or it becomes tedious.

It can be a full time income. It will take some time to build to that level though.

Here is a training link that you might want to check out - it may be of some help to you in finding a niche: The other two questions just depend on how much time and effort you're willing to put in. I know how to trade stocks. I've developed a reliable system that turns a steady profit and makes my portfolio grow fast. I want to offer my knowledge to others, but I haven't created a training manual yet. Also, I don't even know if many people would be interested in it, or how to market it. How can I find out if there is a strong demand for learning how to trade stocks?
Reply

Hi John - If you have a reliable trading system that you think might help others find success, I say go for it.

There are a lot of scams out there and systems that just don't work. It's akin to the scams in the affiliate marketing business.

I'm using a covered call system that has made me a little bit of money, and it is a provable working system.

If you have a better mouse trap you should explore that niche, you may be able to take advantage.

I have seen two recent very profitable trading systems for sale on empirefilippers.com. Check it out. It may give you some ideas.

Best of luck.

Thanks Patrick.
It took me a long time and a lot of experimentation to come up with this system. It works about 80% of the time. It's not perfect but it's very profitable. I know what you mean about the scams. Once I stopped buying "recommended stocks" on impulse and instead put these stocks through my own tests, things started working for me. Thanks for your tip.

All companies pay differently, most offer at minimum check payment. For example here at Wealthy Affiliate we pay via Paypal as our primary payment method, but we can also pay via check if you reach over a certain threshold ($10 here, it differs from program to program) :)

As I said though, every company is different and they will state how they pay when you become part of their affiliate program.

gilldodier Premium
You need to do the course, you will need an ad on google, Bing and Yahoo, you will need keywords that will be relevant to your ad, you will do a keyword search, the search will reveal to you the amount of competition for this keyword, High competition, medium competition or low competition, this is how you beat the competition, you will learn CTR (click trough rate) for this keyword and so on, Internet marketing is an art, you need to do the course,
For your niche do the affiliate bootcamp course and learn to sell the exact course you are doing right now, Good Luck, it will get easy as you do the course.

Good question. Within affiliate program you've nothing to gain. You could approach them but maybe take a look to see if their competitors have a program? You can then either use this yourself on your site and/or use it to leverage this company to start one. Just a thought.

Does this mean I have to have different sites made for these other items?

Hi, you need to pick your niche, so for example, if you're going to promote pet care everything on your site needs to relate to pet care. If you want to promote other stuff that's not at all related to your niche, you will need to set up another website.

The great thing here at WA is, as a free member you get 2 free websites, but as a premium member you get 25 free sites and 25 that you will own! So in total you can host 50 websites as a premium member!

I hope this helps?

Hi Nichole, if your products are interrelated then all you need is one site. What I mean by this is, if your products tie in together, have some common attributes then it is possible to have one site and just organize these related products/topics by using categories.
The danger with trying to lump unrelated topics onto one site is you become to broad and Google doesn't see you as an authority in any given niche, you become a "jack of all trades master of none".
I tell people I work with even if they have a fairly precise niche is to still build out categories on their sites and really saturate these categories with relevant content this way you will gain authority in these areas of your chosen niche.
An example I use is raised bed gardening. There are many aspects to raised bed gardening that in themselves are sub niches yet tie into raised bed gardening, topics such as irrigation for raised bed gardening which could and should be organized as its own category, you would explore all types of irrigation that could be used for raised beds and affiliate yourself with these products. The same goes for gardening tools, clothes, supplies, the list goes on but these would all be categories on your website.
These topics are all related in some way and can in my opinion be incorporated into one site.
The products and the topics must make sense to be combined on your website.
Hope that helps, cheers Mike.

Well you have definitely arrived in the right place. Now that you have found WA, the searching can stop as you have everything you need here. I have spent some time breaking down the process in the most simplistic way possible. Success online is at the core a 4 step process and I have broken them down within this video: Broken, down, the process looks like this:

Step 1: Choose your niche
Step 2: Build your website/content
Step 3: Get rankings in search engines (leads to traffic)
Step 4: Monetize your traffic (the make money part, through affiliate programs, etc!)

This applies in absolutely every niche and as you work through the training here at WA, you are going to be walked through this exact process. This is fundamental for ANY success online.

If you have any further questions let me know Stacie. :)

Then OneLink came along, so I signed up for Amazon dot ca and Amazon dot uk and now when visitors from THOSE countries click on my Amazon links, I get credit for ANY purchases they make.

Reason I selected Amazon dot com (US Amazon) is because there are more Americans purchasing from Amazon. OneLink added a side benefit for me.

The next lesson in the training is going to help you with the niche part, so not to worry.

A niche can honestly be anything, what are you passionate about? What are you interested in?

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

This introduction to making money online through affiliate marketing is very simplistic. In a world of high-tech everything it can quickly get very complicated. Some people seem to make things more complicated than they need to be. It is refreshing to find people that can explain these things in a very simple and basic format. Thank you.

There is nothing complicated about the process of building a business and we are going to simplify this for you as you move forward. Absolutely everything you need is here and the technical elements have been simplified through the technology we have developed within the platform (that you have full access to)

It was great to hear about the potential income from just one website! I had images in my mind of me trying to maintain 100 different websites just to make a living lol. It makes sense that if you do one website well, choosing the right niche and maintaining it, you could be quite successful.

What I realize from this video that you have to have a concrete website to get audience to buy stuff off it,but first of your site as to be something simple that people would search for in google, for example recipients for baking cake or clothing etc.I would like to know if i'm promoting a product from amazon or any other site do have to purchase that merchant before l promote it on my site.

What I got out of this video, is the more time and focus you put into your website the more money you will earn. When promoting a product on my website do I have to pay for a merchants account with amazon? I also like the idea of only needing one website to generate a full time income.
Reply
VeronicasLuv Premium
You should not have to pay for merchant accounts, Edward. when you make a sale, they take a percentage of your commission, so that's how they get paid.

So far this has all broken things down fantastically. I have ideas going which is why I landed here. I’m hoping to be up and moving really soon and making a decent supplemental income and maybe at some point I no longer have to answe a time clock. How much time on average do you need to put in to really get plugging and making money?

It will take a year to make a consistent income or longer if it's a more competitive niche, but it all depends on how much content you produce on your site.

The best way to solve this is to set goals for yourself and keep them somewhere where you can always see them. If you do this, you are much more likely to achieve goals.

Just do know, you have everything you need here at wealthy affiliate to create, grow and manage your business (or many businesses) online.

It's my understanding that you can go with any company that offers affiliate marketing. Amazon may not have the best commissions but they offer so many different products that you can easily find products in your niche. Also if they get to Amazon through your link, you get commissions on whatever else they buy.

There're affiliate programs that he must hire commissions, and recommend that as you get into the "promotion" side of things, that you don't just rely on Amazon.

In fact, over the years Amazon has been a minute/tiny portion of my overall income. Less than 1%.

I wonder- how does one juggle hundreds of domains and websites to be able to make money efficiently? It seems like a lot to take on. Maybe at that point you would have someone working for you to manage your websites? I am a strong believer that there is more to life than just work. I'm going to figure out how to make my business self sufficient- but also make a ton of money so that I can truly be my own boss and have a life outside of my computer screen.

we don't! one website takes a lot of work, because this is about writing content. If you look at some of the older superaffiliates like Nathaniell and Ivetriedthat you'll be able to take a look at how they progressed over time. Nat had a shotgun approach and then focussed down on much less websites. Both of them do hire people. But best to start with one and work up...and even though none of those guys reveal just how many websites they have, they will advise you to start with mastery of one first

Exactly, the average person online and that is very successful is only managing a few websites. First you want to get the formula for success down within one site, and then you start to diversify if you want into many different niches.

Oh! I have an idea! What about a "psoriasis and eczema" site? I suffer from one or the other, unfortunately I always get different analysis of my symptoms from different doctors. One doctor says its dermatitis (eczema) and another doctor will say its psoriasis. I have been prescribed dozons of creams / lotions / potions... nothing has worked. If I created a site around it, would I be able to have companies who - create products to treat dermatitis or psorasis , send me their product FOR FREE, to test it out and then blog / review it on my site? Like different products?

I don't know if this may sound weird but going back to that mommy niche, would it be weird to have a site about a mommy who has children with dermatitis ( my baby has it too ) and also has it herself? Struggling with dermatitis. I could also review like Berts Bees products for my baby... the ones aimed at sensitive skin? I don't know.

Personally I would be tempted to do one or the other. I suffer from eczema - so I don't want to read a site about both conditions and eczema varies so much. However, you are in the unfortunate position of possibly suffering from both and you are interested in both angles. I think there are probably people like both of us.

I think a niche site with baby's who suffer from dermatitis is great because not only can you offer creams you can expand the site over time to include clothing for sensitive skin, bedding etc etc. There are lots of mothers looking for products that do not exacerbate the skin conditions.

Good luck whatever you choose.

All sounds good to me because you have an active interest. I do too as I suffer from the same things and nothing really works apart from less stress! But they haven't bottled that one yet. Whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll do well.

I did a search on "baby eczema + affiliate programs" and there were alot of options that came up! Would I be able to promote all or most of these programs or am I limited to just promoting one thing on my site? I would ideally like to promote more, because that = more $$ but would it look less authentic if I was a "Mother of a baby with eczema, sharing my story" - and there were like 5 different creams I recommended whereas you are only supposed to use one cream at a time with your baby.

@BIS I like your idea for recommending sheets and clothing for sensitive skin. Do I want this to be a site with a lot of content and alot of blog posts with affiliate links or do I want it just one big page with direct links to one product as well as "sign up to my newsletter about taking care of your baby's sensitive skin" What do you think?
Reply
MozMary Premium
sounds like an area to research for sure and in doing that you will be able to help people - see the difference in diagnosis there, that is gold for you when it comes to content, see the new functional medicine wave now where they try to get to the cause of illness, they might find that it is not one or the other but they are symptoms of something else

so basically you are dealing with a skin condition and trying to research the cause both for you and your baby, for sure get all the company products, take a look at iherb too, they won't send you products but they will offer you a nice commission on products that will be of interest in your niche

Definitely a great idea! When you think about the amount of beauty bloggers making successful business this has a similarity however your niche has a huge market and not been explored by many blogs/reviews.
Good Luck!

hey, how can I look to see how many people are searching certain terms on google? Like I googled "Mommy Manifesting" and nothing like the idea I had in mind came up. Then I wondered how many other people out there googled this and similar queues you know? If anyone could explain to me how I can find this out I'd greatly appreciate it.

What does that mean? Maybe you should use different terminology in your search to locate your competitors.

I would recommend that you narrow it down a bit, what aspect of "being a mommy" do you want to help people out with?

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

I guess what I want is my target audience to be 20 to 50 year old "Hippy" or "Bohemian" type mothers who are into metaphysical subjects or who want to be able to teach their own children the law of attraction. "I want to help mommy's who want to be more in control of their life, by the power of law of attraction" "I want to help mommy's who want to teach their little children about LOA but don't know how to explain it" "I want to help mommy's understand that their mind creates their reality" etc...

I see so many mommy blogs about - well, nothing in specific? Like this mommy blogger for example: Bethany and her boys (.com ) she is doing a "28 day oil of olay challenge" - I'm pretty sure oil of olay is giving her a cut to blog about her 28 day experience of their product. She also does s lot of "random thought" posts, and you think it would bore you right? But because shes a mommy like me, all of her random thoughts seem just like mine! That is what I want! To connect to other mommy's with my random thoughts and make them go "Ah ha! ME TOO! You are so coo! I want to be just like you!" So like, this mommy blogger posted an affiliate link to a dress she "was wearing at the moment and love so much" of course the dress was over $200 and pretty sure if anyone clicked that link from her blog and bought that dress ( because they wanted to be just like her) she gets a commission.

I will keep on with the training though. Just wanted to throw this out there and get some feed back . thank you Kyle and everyone else for your response :)

I was wondering if having a Mommy blog is a niche or is that too broad of a category? There are SOOO many mommy blogs. Or what about a "law of attraction" website? I'm still trying to wrap my brain around how I could implement affiliate links in say, a "Law of attraction" website, and make it authentic ? Or could I actually put these two different subjects in one website? That way it would be a more Nichey mommy blog? Like for instance, can I be a mommy blogger that promotes ETA ( tapping ), LOA ( Law Of Attraction ) and other methaphysical subjects? Something like; very specific, maybe a website called, "Mommy's Manifesting" Or is that too much lol?

See my response above. There are many directions you can head with a mommy blog, you will just need to narrow things down. The next lesson is going to cover how to "define" your niche in detail, so you should keep moving forward through the training. :)

I have an idea for a niche, but I am afraid I won't be able to find enough affiliate web sights. I have been dealing with chronic back pain since about 2004. I would love to blog about it and maybe help give hope to some one out there not to feel alone. Thoughts??

Never worry about Not enough affiliate programs. There are always going to be thousands of different products and services that you are going to be able to promote within any given niche (If not more).

Chronic back pain could certainly be your niche. :)

Today is my first day and this video could not explain things any better. I agree that your website is your foundation. I know someone off some where else tried to tell me you didn't need a website to make money, but that was one thing I could never figure out. This video just proved her wrong :)

A website is the foundational building block of a business online. You can make money without one, but it is hard to create an actual sustainable business without one. It is like trying to build a sturdy house on a mud put or quicksand, you want a solid cement foundation.

I have a niche in mind that is very broad in nature. Within the niche I am interested in there are 3 subsets I would like to concentrate on. How would you recommend I approach this by concentrating on all three subsets at once? Or; should I narrow it down to only one at a time?
Reply
MozMary Premium
are the subsets categories within your niche? think about how you are going to fill out your website with content, where do the subsets fit into that scenario?
Reply
IdlewildPine Premium
Yes they were. But, I decided to concentrate on one and as you stated above as my content grows I will incorporate them as they fit in. Thanks MozMary for the reply.

I truly wish I would have known about WA sooner. I was scammed. I signed up for a program promising to teach me everything and coach me. I lost $3500.00. They wanted me to pay another $6000.00 to help me get a website and find products and on top of that pay a monthly fee for the website and other programs for hosting. I felt I should have gotten more for the $3500.00 I had spent for the program. I had people calling me and offering services that I didn't ask for and I didn't have a foundation. I took a big risk and lost money. I am more determined to make this work.

I did something similar! I spent a little less than you did, but its just as bad in my eyes because of those broken promises. It makes you skeptical of everything else at times.
But I came across WA and thought I would take a chance and could never be more happy.

Yes, it is hard to believe they get away with that but I see it all the time, year after year, they are preying on people's lack of information and awareness

you can use that experience going forward to help others not get scammed and make money in the process, eg introducing others to this platform gets you half the membership fee in commissions

Hello! I just signed up for Premium last night. I decided to do it as I was building my web page. I've been here and nosed around for about a week now and I'm only on the first Course yet, but I already know this is what I want to do. I figured the cost of the Premium is about what I spend on a cup of coffee every day...It's less than $1.65 a day, so I'll drink something else until I can afford coffee again! LOL. I wish you much success and please know that you really have a whole community of help here!
