This video training has one simple goal...

To help YOU understand the process of making money online.

It is actually more simplistic than you think. Although there are many ways in which people are creating successful businesses online, there is one core component to any successful business, a website.

In this video I walk you through the process right from the initial audience, to the search in Google, to the website, to the niche, to the types of programs that you are going to be promoting to generate revenue.

There are many ways that you can earn a full time income online once you understand the fundamentals and this video is going to clarify what the fundamental process is.

If you have any comments or questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to give you a hand.

I upgraded to Premium on the 23rd of Last month, October, for $19.99 I think it was. To date I haven't got any income. Soon, on the 23rd or 24th of November I will need to pay $49.99 I believe in order to continue with Wealthy Affiliate. When can I expect to begin to get an income?
Thank you for your answers

Hello Warren,
It takes time to build your site and traffic to a point where you'll make money. Several factors also play a role:

effort put forth on your part, niche, competition, content quality, regularity (how often) of posts, traffic, engagement (comments) and so on.

I happen to make a whopping $3 I think it was on my second or 3rd month and that was from Amazon affiliate sales of small drone accessories ($10 item here and there, etc.). I'm at 8 months and averaging about $100 a month but I need to give my site more attention.

If you see the value in WA and what you can do with it, I suggest you take advantage of the Black Friday annual deal for $299. You do pay it all at once but if you do the math it comes out to less than $25 per month. That's a great deal and an inexpensive investment in your online business.

Hi Warren, we have talked about this stuff in private, and the truth is you need to keep doing the training. I understand it hasn't been easy and the progress hasn't been that fast, but the people who make the money in this program are those go through the training at their own pace and put in the work, for some it takes longer than others.

Think that was the first time I've seen what an affiliate was in a way that was simple to understand, my question on this would be is it better for your niche to be broader or more narrow, say I wanted to make mine about wrist watches which I have a liking for,now would it be better to do it on all wrist watches, or my particular favorite brand Citizen & it's solar powered Eco Drive line...? My guess would be the to go broader but since this is new to me I don't want to assume...
Reply
merlynmac Premium
I’d consider the broader option and then maybe starting off with citizen.
Reply
HelenpDoyle Premium
It is not too hard to broaden a niche once you're started as long as you set out your website well initially.

What I did was, I had a broadish niche so I split my menu into a bunch of pages. Each page was a bit of the broader niche. I did an intro to those bits on the page and then hung all my posts from the appropriate page.

So you could start your niche with the standard pages as per About you and your niche, your Privacy Policy etc. Then do your first individual page as Citizen. Do the Citizen Intro on the page and why, in general you like these wrist watches. Then go on and do your blogs and reviews and attach them to that page. The name of the page becomes your category so you can do internal links from all posts to it as well as define them in the category.

When you find another brand and you want to write about it do a new page and follow the same steps. Obviously you don't want to go overboard unless your are really good at organising all this as your site could become unwieldy.

Ah, this is a great example of the classic difference between simple and easy. While creating a business online is not easy—most likely requiring a lot of time, effort, and coffee in the beginning—watching this video certainly shows how simple the process really is; even a child could wrap his or her head around the concept. As my old boss used to say: it ain’t rocket surgery!

Finding a niche can be one of the most difficult tasks in a world full of commonalities. To simplify the process and to make it more pleasurable, here are my journaled suggestions using WA as inspiration:

1. Find something you love...
-Multiple streams of income, entrepreneurship, community, empowerment, motivation, inspiration, etc.

2. Take your love for the lifestyle or craft and think of something you think would be of value to the consumer(yourself). Most times, we're the initial customer...
-WealthAffiliates created a wonderful community to empower, educate, and connect a community of individuals seeking financial freedom through entrepreneurship. How awesome is that?!

3. Never lose sight of your mission and continue to sow...
-Cultivation is a process... Planting and nurturing those seeds are imperative. For without them, you'll have nothing to harvest. The weather may be unpredictable, but all storms can be weathered with proper provisions.

When doing something you love, it rarely seems like a chore. Why should it? You're eager to reach the top of the skyscraper after laying that solid foundation while serving as many as possible. Entrepreneurs should be obsessed with the satisfaction of their customer base. Finding that one niche where you can slide in can definitely ensure longevity. The money will follow. Fin

WealthAffiliates, thank you for creating this platform. I'm excited to embark on this journey with everyone here.

Excellent insights here Mok, I can tell you really are grasping the concept not just of choosing your niche, but how to choose it...and from there how to build out your business. Doing something that you love is what the Internet affords us all the opportunity to do, and that is the natural direction for a niche. :)

The video shows the search process of a buyer like the main example, how it supposed to happen. However, by my own experience, there's other way to reach my goal as a buyer: I'm using Google Search, checking if an item is available on amazon or eBay, comparing prices here and there, shipping costs, few different specifics of an item and making my decision where to buy from. If amazon or eBay don't have desired item, I'm going to a manufacturer's website to buy strictly from them. So as soon as its kind of clear(ish) and obvious with manufacturers (or they can have affiliates on their own websites?), - seems I'm hitting affiliatess' lottery on amazon and eBay? I guess somebody is getting commission anyway, so who's that somebody on that case?
And second question: my passion is about dogs - psychology, behavior, training - so I'm wondering if there's such a niche talking of making money online.
I apologize again if my questions sound silly. Thanks in advance.

Great job and continued success to you! Dogs seems to be a great choice for a niche! Your passion will make you successful!!

Hi Tanyach,

I have to be honest I am a bit lost with your first question but just know that Billions of dollars are spent on Amazon alone each year in the US alone, so trust me when I say there are buyers. Not only that, but you can also promote products from other vendors as you please. So Amazon is a great place to start but you can absolutely branch out to other affiliate offers if you think it's worth it.

Absolutely, the overall 'dog niche' is MASSIVE and there are so many ways you can break this niche down. So your idea of dog psychology and behavioural training is definitely viable.

Hope this helps!

TanyaCh Premium
Thank you Tim! ...sorry for such an unclear formulation. What I wanted to bring up is: sometimes buyers aren't clicking links on a website to get an item. So when they are choosing to buy it straight from eBay or amazon, for instance, or from a manufacturer - just a random affiliate is payed the commission, - is that correct? And if so, I assume, to make a buyer choose my website I need to have not overpriced item except other criterias' making a purchaser happy - ?..
Reply
TimMcKinlay Premium
Ah ok I see what you mean now. That is correct, yes. If the person chooses to not click on your link and go directly to the vendors site, then either no affiliate gets that commission or the affiliate who's link that visitor last clicked on will get it.

I would not be concerned about this as affiliate marketing is a numbers game. As long as you are following the process, you will earn commissions. People have every reason to click on your link if they want to buy, the main one being it is just easier to click your link, rather than navigate away from your page and then go to the same site they were going to go to anyways.

On the process and how it works: When a customer makes a search on the internet from Google or another search engine, customer will be given choices as to which link or URL they would like to visit. If they choose our website or storefront and make a purchase through our affiliate link, we will be paid an affiliate commission.
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yes, exactly the case. You are going to be learning how to rank well under search terms in Google, people come to your website, they get help, the click a link to go buy a product, you get credit.

This is one way of many to get free traffic, but this strategy (SEO) alone can lead to a full time and sustainable income.

Since we are on the topic of defining what a niche is, let me also ask. Can a niche also be something that you are good at or have a lot of knowledge about but necessarily something that you are passionate about. Let me give an example. Growing up in school I hated having to write in short hand but I was really good at it to the point where I was top in my class. So should we also be looking at those markets as well?
Reply
merlynmac Premium
Absolutely. Take a surviving cancer niche. If you lived through it, you probably have a lot of knowledge about it but you're probably not passionate about it other than it being over. It's a niche.

The things you have to concern yourself with are can you write a lot about it and can you monetize it?
Reply
Thank you for asking that question. Some of the things that I know had me wondering how and if they could make money..

I always wondered why I was being rerouted to amazon or ebay from my initial website, so now I understand what was taking place. Well detailed presentation. Thank you.

I already have a website on ebay and is signed up an amazon associates but have not quite gotten the proper training beyond that point so I am all ears.

Great video. But how about if you have many niches or many different products, like me. I would list my products from my eBay account. I want to affiliate services as well. All these things are possible to make on the same home page? How about funnels? Ok maybe will come explaining in next videos. I hope:)
Reply
merlynmac Premium
If you have many niches then I suggest many sites unless all of the niches are somehow related and then you might be able to have a primary niche site and sub-niche categories, etc.

If your site doesn't have a focus, it's going to be hard to get it to rank.

I'll let someone else talk funnels.

The video was simple and easy to understand.. I enjoyed it.. But, the one about the football helmet, didn't seem like it would generate that much profit.. He chose a seasonal sport, so the only time he would really generate good profit would be during football season.. And the site only offers one product.. Also, it only sells through Amazon at 6 percent.. A good place to start, but he also targeted a very small group of people.. I'm surprised that you can profit $1000 dollars a month from this.. His website looked awesome.. And he did his homework with his tags.. Nice.. The other site is similar to what I am looking to do.. It's a lot more complicated and requires extensive research on my part.. I hope y'all can help me with that.. Great comparison..

newmarketpro Premium
You pointed out some valid points.
Do you think people will only look for football helmet during football season? How about people that are into football training, football academy and so on. So the product is not really seasonal.

When you have authority in your niche (like the case study above), you only need to promote a few items to make it a success. And there are other related products you can bundle together with your promotion.

As you go through the training, you will realize that you only need a niche to really be successful with your niche site.

All the best.

Hi Kevin and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate
I can see by reading this, you are more than ready to grow your business online.
My suggestion to all new people is this
Build 1 website and learn all the training step by step

When you have a truly solid foundation which is the key to success you may consider building another site however if you do this too soon, you will have to feed both sites and you will need a lot of time to do this to give them both what they need

1 website done well is the way to go

All the best-learning everything and growing your new business

I had some Bad & Good experiences with two of the biggest Hosting Companies for the money you put out on a website and so many up sales drive you Crazy. So I have my own Hosting Business to ease pressure for the people. Also I am doing Video for adds and Education for Kids. Also I am going to add a lot more in my Blog and I will get more depth as soon I get that done still a writing progress. So you see you also need a Burning passion or desire, for your Idea, you should taste it - sleep it - wake up to it, That's what I did before I got ILL but that's not what made me sick just clarify that. Nope, the training taught here at WA is still up to date, and you can still rank affiliate sites in search engines just like you ever could. The only thing that's being cracked down on is rogue affiliate sites, ie ones that don't display proper disclaimers etc.

Questions: 1] Do I get the "Affiliate Link" before I create the "Niche Website" or vise-versa?

2] When the "Prospective Customer/Client" clicks on my site [which came up from the Search], are they taken to the "Parent Company" - the source of the Affiliate Link?

3] If the answer to #2 above is "Yes", do I still get a commission if the customer buys a different product from what my Affiliate Link offered?

4] What are the usual pre-requisites for a Parent Company to approve affiliate applications? Does one has to have a website to be an "Affiliate Marketer"?

5] Does WA include hosting in its Premium Membership?

Thank You.

1. Create your website and get content on it this comes first :)
2. When you attach your Affiliate Links to your website the client/customer will be taken to the
Parent Company (such as Amazon)
3. As an Amazon affiliate, the cookies are embedded that whatever the client/customer would
purchase for the next 24 hours whether through your website or not you will earn commission
4. Your second question here answers the first - you will need a website to be approved by a
company to become an affiliate - try to select companies that fit your niche
5. AS a Premium Member or Free member WA does including hosting for your website YES :)

I do hope this answers all your questions for now :)

Yes, you can get the affiliate link before. Just click on the $ up top. and then the Links & Tracking link. It will be the main link. 2) If you are talking about the affiliate link, yes to the main site but you will get credit for anyone who joins. 3) Yes. From what I understand, that customer is forever connected to you. 4) No prerequesites that I am aware of. No, you don't have to have a website. I don't. 5) A ton more training, additional websites above the 2 free ones, a lot more templates to choose from for your websites and a ton of other goodies.

You have been lead astray. Email marketing will become part of your business at some point, but it certainly should not be a focus early on.

I don't recommend worrying about an autoresponder or getting into email marketing until you have a source of traffic no less than 100 clicks per day.

If you focus on email marketing before that, it is far too premature and you will end up spending too much time on managing your list, broadcasts, follow-up sequences, integration into your site, etc...without focusing on the most important thing first. Traffic!

Great training video that explains how to make money online as an affiliate.
The snack helmet site just seems so easy though..is it really this easy? The website just seems to be links to Amazon etc, not really full of good relevant blog posts? Can you just put up a static site like that and earn without needing to update it with daily/weekly content?
Maybe this kind of site/product doesn't need that kind of content..or me not having a clue about the work behind it..it just seems to good to be true..?
So if was this skilled and i put three sites like this up in time I can earn 3000/month with almost no updating of content..? while other types of sites demand constant updating like blog posts, reviews etc?

First of all, the site in the video just as an example. If you want to look proper affiliate website, you can search any tech review blog. They're making money with affiliate marketing with Amazon.

You need to update your website atleast once a week because Google wants you to be active. Google wants your website is to be active and not a scam website.

So, go through the training and keep building your site. Then you'll understand clearly how hard to make money with affiliate marketing.

Talking of niches, can we call "snack helmets" a niche? It seems like it's just a product offered in many shops. Choosing a niche, can I pick several? e.g. I'm into fashion, make up, sports and fitness etc. Is it going to be all on one website? Is it like a blog where I share my experience and giving links to where people could buy it? How do I know that a company has an affiliate program?

Kyle will show you how to find affiliate programs in Level 3 of your training, but here's a great introduction webinar too: One niche should be for one website, unless you want to go bit broader.

For example, Jay chose "snack helmets". You could also have done something like "tailgating recipes" as your niche, then included snack helmets as one of your main themes, or even just a few reviews on your site.

It just depends on how YOU want to structure your business.

Hi

I live in South Africa, will this effect my marketing in any way. In the sense that, will the products/services which I am deciding to market, hinder my marketing range.

My only concern would be that, for example, some of the Amazon products/services that I would like to market, are unavailable to be imported to South Africa. What is the likelihood that many of these companies would not want to deliver from USA,etc. when it is a single item being purchased.

Also, what if there is a customer not from USA. Do these companies limit to where they deliver to.

Hoping I make sense. Tried my best to explain in writing :)

The thing is, you can be located anywhere in the world and promote products/services to anyone. You could be in SA, getting traffic to your website from the US, selling to the US. You don't have to necessarily promote anything to your country or even target them with your promotions.

In saying this, there are certainly affiliate programs and opportunities to promote to folks within South Africa. We have MANY members from SA here as part of the community, some of whom are the most successful members here!

I just want to know if for example I am promoting a product on my website, I may integrate as many affiliate links in it for the product. Secondly, I want to know where and how to get content about the product to put on the web site
Reply
newmarketpro Premium
I am not sure how you can link a product to more than one affiliate link unless you create more than one content/post.

You can write your content from what you know, this can be from your own experiences or through your research the internet, watching Youtube, reading journals etc. Important thing is that you are able to explain the benefits of the product and try to give more information more than what is already on your competitors' sites.

The process as already implemented and laid out seems very simple. But as far as finding your niche has always been a confusing thing for me. I tried to do research on what a niche is and I still need some clarity on what it is. Because from my current understanding it seems as if its on the line of an industry but smaller.

Just don't make it any more complex than it actually needs to be. A niche can honestly be anything, what are you passionate about? What are you interested in?

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)

I noticed from the Dallas helmet snack video, that the key to getting many visitors on your website is to get your website ato the top of Google. I’m sure there are many websites, thousands maybe more, that are selling the same item that are sitting way below page one of Google. How do you get your website up to the top “quickly”?

I am so happy to find this Co. as I have spent time with frauds getting here. Now I am going to bed as it is now 2:00 in the morning but I was thinking of big home appliances for the kitchen. Would that work as do I narrow it down to say refrigerator s? Leave me comments please and I will work on it tomorrow. Thanks.

The narrower you can do a niche the better you will find it for starting out, you could always focus on fridges and as your authority and brand build start to branch out into the kitchen. Will depend on your url and how relevant everything is to your readers. Hope that helps

Yes narrowing it down to refrigerator, Tv, etc is ok to reduce too much competition and it will make it easy for you to be an authority in that Niche. When writing blogs on your site, you could discuss different types, quality, and availability of those different refrigerators.

Very informative. While doing the research on Keywords in the Boot Camp Training to build my website promoting Affiliate Marketing, I discovered my Niche to build my website for products. It has been 35 years since I have been on a horse but there was a time when that was my passion. I did some research yesterday on Amazon and the possibilities are limitless. And they all lead back to the same beginning.

Even as I read fellow comments I would love some feedback from the pros as to the mindset in choosing a niche as even with 3.75 Billion potential customers how do we assure ourselves the product that we choose will be one in demand?

bajandigital, you are speaking my language, my friend. I started blogging late last year and joined WA early this year. I have launched several online businesses or tried to at least. The issue has been that I fall in love with the product and create something I REALLY LOVE but my audience no so much. That is where the market research comes in. Create your ideal avatar. Who you want to work with and go to where they are. Listen, Ask Questions, Listen some more and find the gap that you can fill. Then, you can create your product.
Reply

Well you have created a necessary step that should come before choosing a niche or at the very least be a major part of choosing your niche.

Well prepared presentation with clear upfront examples. The truth is that you need to identify the niche where you would feel comfortable and willing to speak. However as each one of us has their hobby, the main question is where this niche is for each of us and what could we bring more to the message to attract and drive customers, and ultimately drive sales to the commercial site. Until this niche is confirmed, trial and errors should happen, to learn the ropes in the area and apply the best experience to the particular niche site. The same way as you guys first learned how to build a well-defined attractive site and applied the knowledge to the more productive niche site.
Looking forward to this experience, primarily to learn and ultimately to expand on the learning.

Am already already a member in one onlline company business owner who had made me to invest in his company for many weeks now but have never gotten any ROI. Now my questions are:
1. Is that online business company the same as an Affiliate company?
2. Is Wealth Affiliate only concerned on educating investors or do the company also do offer a platform for making good money like the one I've just mentioned above that am currently involved in?
3. If your company offers a money making platform then like how long will it take an investor to start getting ROI and how much money will be expected for investment for one to make $20000 - $40000 and above per month?
4. If Wealth Affiliate hasn't any platform for making money, is any trusted such company that Wealth Affiliate can recommend?

Hi

You can promote wealthy affiliates both as a free and premium member. Obviously, you earn more money as a premium member because there has to be some incentive for people to pay. Type in success in the search bar and you will see lots of success stories people making five figures a month. The amount of money you make is scalable you learn and understand the process then rinse and repeat. I have been here for 11 years if it helps

Hello David. As you settledown at Wealthy Affiliate, you are going to learn a lot more than just making money. Building a rooted and sustainable business is all that takes place here at WA.
I would recommend you relax and get started with your training. It could be overwhelming at first but trust me, everything will start to make more sense and more fun as well

Take your time please :)

Wealthy Affiliates have their own affiliate program. Kyle recommends you to participate if you would like to promote Wealthy Affiliates. They offer the banners and links, so this is something you might want to do while finding your niche.

Investment is not the same as Affiliate marketing. You made an investment which is free money for them to operate their business. Next time buy their stock if it is worth anything.

Always look for affiliate programs at the bottom of the page. You will see affiliate or affiliate program, if you do see either one, then they do not have a affiliated program.

Hope this helps.

Really informative and simple video to understand. Thank you Kyle. I have a couple of questions for you and the WA community if that’s okay :)

1 - I’ve always heard the term ‘the money is in your mailing list’, and data capture tends to be highly coveted to many. What’s your thoughts on this? (Or is this covered further into the programme?)
2 - You mentioned social media in the video. Are they playing a bigger part in an affilite marketing process? I have known of some individuals that have used a Facebook or insta page as an engagement funnel...

Do let me know if I’m asking questions a few steps ahead, but would be great to know on the above two.

Cheers guys

Hey Ikem,

1.) You need traffic to your website before focusing on "your mailing list". Once you are ready, there is training available here on mailing lists WA. The search textbox at the very top of this web page will help you find any training you would like to focus on.

2.) WA offers us the use of affiliate links, yes. However, do NOT use affiliate links on Facebook or Google+ and when you are ready to use your affiliate links here... this tutorial may help you take full advantage: Try to stay focused on the training and not get ahead of yourself, as you may find yourself becoming very confused. Kyle has setup the training in as helpful a manner as humanly possible.

You may find it advantageous to write your questions down as you have them, and as you follow the training, you can cross off each question as you find the answer(s).

Hope you find this helpful.

A very well done clip. I pretty much get how the process of getting paid is done. The part that isn't too clear for me is setting up my credentials where proper navigation is in place and having it received in the right area of the website to direct a potential customer to the appropriate Affiliate.
Reply

Hopefully I can understand your question correctly.

When you have been approved as an affiliate, your vendor would give some code where your affiliate credentials are embedded. You only need to use the code and place it where you want your link / image to be displayed. For wordpress, you can place the link by using the widget area. If someone clicks on the link, he will be directed to the affiliate site to complete the purchase.

Is that answering your question?

So I called my brother again this morning. Just to share that his plan of becoming and affiliate marketer is to put up front $3500 and wait 90 days to see what happens.
I am crying inside for him, you should too.
Of course I sent him my referral link for WA.

Cant say no more but thank you. I do not even regret finding you late, I am just happy I did. Oh, it is not ny brother's money but still.

Yes, that is almost certainly a scam, and it is certainly overpriced if they are trying to charge him $3500. There is no other platform in the industry that comes close to what we offer here at WA and we are $359 per year (all inclusive).

I hope he decides to make the right decision, but sometimes it takes a few learning mistakes before they find their way. A lot of shiny objects out there and I just hope your brother does not succumb to one of them.

So I would not be an original type more of a unique type. How would I communicate this into a niche?

Sure, you could head in something related to "shadows' in terms of your brand, and focus on that. This is not to say that you cannot diversify and target many topics in the photography world, but it will immediately make your website more "niche" and it will be more efficient for you to establish expertise and authority within this space.

If you narrow your niche down you will be fine. This is precisely why the training says to narrow it down, otherwise, you are competing with everyone. So within the health industry, there are probably thousands of smaller niches. Likewise within the fitness industry.

Maybe your site is aimed at Women tennis players over the age of 50. Much smaller niche, much less competition that going against sites aimed at tennis players. Hope that makes sense.

There are 3.7billion people online, you only need a small percentage of those to make a good income (or so they tell me lol).

There are so many niches and sub niches that you can't possible exhaust them. Just make sure your niche is truly that - a niche, which can't be too broad a category. With the Jaaxy tool, you will quickly get confirmation of that, and how much competition there is out there, and the many that aren't being addressed - wide open!

Your best bet is using Google trends, since you won't know how to use Jaaxy research tool yet. You could also try these: Also, I recommend using a free site first instead of buying a custom domain until you feel comfortable keeping the niche you picked. This way you can delete and start over without the extra $15 expense for another custom domain.

It's really easy here to transfer a free site to your own domain later on.

I'm not saying you will make a lot but it will keep the bailiffs at bay as we say over here.
You could also take the Bootcamp if you want to promote WA but there are a lot of members already doing this and i have yet to see anyone make vast amounts of money from it.

This example targets a very narrow niche. How important is that? My vision for my website is a large website on animal care, with many subthemes that include animal clothing, animal health products, training supplies, basic supplies like crates, dishes, etc. Since I have a substantial background in animal care, I want to add articles I find or write myself on things like where to get cheap or free vet care, the best dog parks in the US, places to adopt, places to take your dog on vacation, and I would also like to add a video a few times a week showing some funny animal behavior. I thought I could use the articles and videos to email to people to draw them in to look at the products. Does this sound right, or am I taking on too much?

There are many advantages to narrow down your niche as compared to chose something broad.
1) Your site will more focus on a specific theme topic.
2) Google likes sites that are based on specific niche. That being said, your chances to get ranked in search engines are better.
3) People will see you as an expert in the niches because all your articles are based on specific topic.

Can you make it with a broad niche. Definitely you can but you need to work harder, create more articles and it takes longer time for the site to mature.

You only need to focus on a small portion of a niche to make it successful with the site. There are people who have succeeded with small niches.

Hope that make sense.

I can hardly beilve for the first time when I see it . Many of the online e-commerce entrepreneurs have told me to focus on using their methodology to acquire a niche product rather than just being an affilate marketer. Because they are sure that the profits gained by affiliate marketing won't last long . Although some part of me is skeptical, I'm willing to open my mind to go further.
Reply
Kyle Premium
That is because they are trying to sell you their system, often times expensive ones. I don't recommend you create your own product/service as the starting point of your business, something that you can consider down the road as you have a brand.

Many products/services offer 30%-50% commission, the average ROI on a product you source and sale is 10% and you still have to establish a brand and pay for all of the marketing.

Either can be great, and we work with both types of marketers here, but ultimately before you focus too much on what you will sale, you need to establish a brand.

The video was very informative and I understand how the process works now when it comes to affiliate marketing. I still have a lot to learn and I am like sponge right now trying to get the knowledge. But can their be subsections fo the niche product? Can one have multiple products on their website and have success?
Reply
Kyle Premium
There are many ways you can cross promote within a niche, and diversify your business. Look at some of the most famous brands, Amazon used to sell books, Apple used to sell computers. As you establish your brand within any niche, you can start to diversify and become relevant in many other "close by" segments.

And you can promote as many affiliate programs on your website as you like.

Over time you will likely be promoting many different products/services on your website and this will take place as your build out content and you see a good match between an audience and a product.

Remember, your role as an affiliate is to connect your traffic (an audience) with a product or service that will benefit them. This will be based on the context and relevance of the content.

This section has taught that there are many different ways in which money can be made online.
It shows me that by someone doing a Google search, can view products on your website and by clicking on a link can purchase that product. By purchasing a product through your website will earn you a commission. The commission can be replicated by becoming an affiliate for various companies that have products on the same topic as your website.

Yeah, there are. 100's in fact, and what you are going to learn in the early stages and establishing with your efforts here is a solid foundation for your business. Once you have that and you start obtaining authority in your niche (could be any), the sky is the limit and there are going to be many ways you can monetize your website.

I look forward to working with you Carolyn, you have a bright future ahead of you. :)

This is quite powerful. This is the MEANING of turning passions into profit. I always heard MLM people say "Turn passion into income" but what they meant is by pushing the products and mixing in your life. With this, I can literally make a blog about something I am in LOVE with (Example, I can talk about Christianity ALL day_ and now it can be something i do for a living! EPICCC

The difference is in the affiliate marketing space you CHOOSE your own passion and direction for your business. Within the MLM world, they force you into making something your passion.

The thing is, you can promote over 550 MILLION products and services as an affiliate marketer. The potential is literally unlimited, regardless of which direction you want to head there is always going to be a great deal of opportunity and a lot of products/services you can leverage within your space to generate an income.

Hi Kyle
So, responding to your offer of running some niche ideas past you, I have three areas that I have identified that I would like to
a/write about
b/research and deepen my understanding
c/be comfortable recommending

they are

1/Wine
2/Cryptocurrency
3/ Original Artworks

1/ Wine - (Passion level 7/10)thinking rather than promoting the wine itself, I could position a site around 'wine gifts' - wine racks, coolers, chiller, decanters, books etc..
The other thought is zoning in on Organic Wine

2/ Cryptocurrency - (Passion level 8/10) I have a position with Bitcoin and a strong interest in following the development of this market. Programmes for sign ups to trading platforms look interesting and some higher level potential commissions, particularly where there are lifetime %s of future trades from converted leads.

3/ Original Art - (Passion level 8.5/10) - Lots of online galleries in UK I would love to support and get commission from. I am an Art Historian be degree and also buy and collect art myself. More of a subjective and potentially difficult market to scale perhaps? Not sure

I was wondering whether you think kicking off with two sites might be a bit ambitious as I work through the WA trainings. Right now, I'm thinking the Cyrpto would be fascinating and either wine or art more fun. also would my marketing skills fast track by learning different tracks simultaneously?

Anyway, your thoughts and any guidance here would be most welcome

Best wishes

Phil

Kyle, this is awesome. Very clear and really thorough; two questions it has brought up for me though. 1) How do you find out if a company (like the bodybuilders example) even has an affiliate program? and 2) If you are promoting a product that has a lot of various options, how do you ensure you give the customer enough options that they actually end up buying the "version" of the product you are affiliated with? E.g. If I write about children's sleep on my website/blog, and I want to add affiliate links to Brand X children's pajamas, but Brand X sells dozens and dozens of different sizes, colours, patterns, etc., how do I ensure the customer doesn't click on the Size 4 Pink Polka Dot pajamas I have linked to but then decides they want size 5 Purple Stripe pajamas on a different area of Brand X's site and I am now out the money because I didn't link to that very specific choice? How do you get around this without putting 100 different links in one blog? Thanks!!!

1) Do a Google search for 'company name + affiliate program'. 2) Be an affiliate for all the products you write about, then it doesn't really matter what they choose. Most affiliate programs give you a commission on sales from your site, they don't require it to be a specific product.
Reply
Clittle1 Premium
Hey! To fin out if a company has an affiliate program type "company name" + affiliate program into google. If they have one it will come up.

For your second question, a lot of affiliate companies will give you a commission regardless of what the person buys after clicking you affiliate link. I know for Amazon, say you are promoting pajamas but then someone buys a waterbottle instead. You will get commission for the waterbottle!
I don't know if all affiliate programs are like that though.

You just need to remain realistic about the process and the fact that you are creating a business here. The outlay is minimal compared to what you are getting here, but in business before you turn monthly profit, you first need a solid foundation (which is the first focus).

The first month is typically your foundation building stage. In order to build a website that earns you consistent revenue, you need this foundation. After this, you are going to start seeing traffic and as you build this out, there are many different ways in which you can generate revenue.

Personally it took me into my 3rd month of busting my butt to make my first dollar online, by month 6 though I was making consistent income and by the year mark, I was almost full time.

But guess what would have happened if I quit during those first two "trying" months or had instant revenue expectations. I would not be where I am at today (going on 12 years full time!). Just wanted to put things into perspective for you.

I am in this journey with you, so is the community here at WA. If you want to jump in, work hard, take action, and persist.

You will have some awesome things accomplished by the time you finish just the first 10 lessons of the getting started training and you will be prepared to build a very successful business online within the Premium membership.

But do upgrade at your own pace and take action on the tasks. Action is what will lead you to success!

You can earn money by providing helpful information. In fact, this is a better way of promoting your affiliate site as people don't like to be sold products. If you give them information they are looking for they might share your post to their social accounts and their friends will share it to more audiences. Some of these people are looking for the same information but also buyers. So you earn income indirectly.

Hope that shed some lights.

If a customer sees that the link brought them to Amazon, do customers decide to open up a new web page browser to go to Amazon directly and purchase the product independent of the link? I know I've personally done this before because once the link brought me to Amazon, I decided to just buy directly through Amazon not realizing how affiliate marketing worked. So when I've done this, the person who posted the product on their website didn't make money, correct?

Hi Darice. From the experiences shared here in WA, once a person clicks on your link, even if they go to another page and buy something you will still receive a commission on what they purchase.
If they open another new tab to amazon then, yes, you will miss out, however by all I have read this isn't the case mostly
I hope this helps

Amazon and other links have their cookies saved- once someone clicks a link though your site, the affiliate link saves a cookie. If they were to go back to that site directly a couple hours later and buy something, your cookie is saved and you get a commission

Yes, that can happen sometimes, but people tend to do a lot of research outside of just amazon reviews and buy things through all sorts of different sites, look for problems to solutions, etc...and this is where you come in as an affiliate and can earn a significant amount of money.

So really the affiliate program is unlimited in what you choose as a niche, right? If I wanted to start a website on Bibles, or Bible literature, I could promote several items.

Does this mean I could start 10, 15, or even more niche websites? Would I be setting up a blog on each of these sites?

It seems that a website on magazines, financial memberships, etc., could generate even more commissions. Pushing interest towards those types of sales could be very profitable, right?

Will you be talking about where to find the most profitable niches?

Watched the video and looked at the websites sampled. The 'pre workout supplements' website seems to have an option to become a customer to that website.
Where is this data stored?
Do I need to create a database if I wanted that option?
When customers are routed an affiliate site and places an order, who accounts for the credit to be accounted to my website?

If my customer is interrupted and returns to shop directly from the affiliated site and not through my site, do I get a credit?
Reply
Triblu Premium
Hey Steve,

WordPress creates its own database so you won't need to worry about that part... and it is stored on the host server along with your website.

When you provide an affiliate link that link will take the person clicking to the vendor's website so you do NOT need to worry about the delivery of the product nor the product itself. Payments are simply a commission for sending the vendor a customer.

Most vendors offer cookies on their website so that their affiliates are paid fairly. If you Google search "understanding cookies" (without the quotation marks, of course) you will find details on cookies.

Hope you find this helpful.

Selecting a niche you are passionate about makes it easier to write posts about your niche.

As for sharing affiliate links... if you write to your readers though you were speaking to a friend over the phone, and then offer all of 3 affiliate links within a 1000 worded post, you will find your posts ranking higher, and possibly even find your conversions better too.

However, if you are promoting IM products, you can create a lead capture/landing page so you visitor will enter their email before directed to the sale page on the product.

1. Yes you can participate in as many affiliate programs as you like. You have full freedom on what to promote and how to promote it. Especially if your niche has many different sellers then it's absolutely fine to use multiple affiliate programs.

2. There are many ways to setup opt-in pages on your website. Your website will provide interesting information that will enable customers to come back to it and subscribe to your list. You may not be able to capture email of every single sale you make but there are ways to have an opt-in page to get email addresses. You can always add this element to your website once it starts selling and focus on capturing info of your website visitors. It can also be a pop-up for every visitor with some promo code for discount etc.. if they leave an email.

Hi Viola! It's been a long time since I saw a post from you, great to see you again! The answer to your question on "where you get customers" is this:

Your niche topic is basically your customer base. Typically, if you choose a niche that has a problem, those people are easy customers. For example:

If you target people with knee problems, that's a niche and they have a problem, thus when you write articles on your site, they go on Google and people with knee problems find your site, come to it and become your customers.

Here's a tutorial I wrote on niches which should help: In regards to ancient grains, this is a niche, but it doesn't sound like it's a niche where the people have a problem, they may more likely just seek info on this. The question I would ask is, which type of audience is best suited for this particular product? Does it have health benefits? What are they?

Vitaliy, thanks for the response and feedback. My niche is a particular ancient grain but I wanted to include other grains as well. So I want to have Spelt as my main topic with examples of useage and the others follow that . My prob now is the headline. I have lost the basic how to of starting my home page. Yes I have been absent for a minute but I needed to refuel. With the time away from WA it was a time for introspect and so I have done that with added determination to continue to finish sooner than later. My intention is to have this site up and running with good clear information discussing the benefits of ancient grains. Of course it will take a bit of time but I believe I can get it done. Here's to my success. Hope your day goes well with success Vitaliy.

Hi Viola, I would in that case just target healthy grains in general and talk about the different types there are and promote them from the site. I would use level 2's training in WA to help you find keywords for this stuff:

It's very exciting to see that we will learn how to create a website that will generate income for us but we will not have to worry about the sales, shipping & etc. I have added to many people's wallet by going to these types of websites and now I will learn how to add to my own wallet is awesome! Excited to learn more!! Great video!

I was in the same situation with you Jeanie. I bought a lot of courses and programs out there only I realized that this is more possible with a platform like WA. I have stopped chasing those 'shiny object' and focus on here.
Wishing you a great success here.

After watching this video the process seems so simple, however I’m not sure I’ll be able to create a decent website that people will want to come to. And I still have know idea what my niche will be. I have tried several ways to make money and have always failed (thankfully my significant other has put up with all my attempts), however I have never tried anything like this as the internet world still scares me.

It’s a learning process. Trust the training, and take it one step at a time. If you keep up with the training and complete the tasks, you will learn so much and become more and more confident, as you do so.

The key to this process is patience and constant learning. Building a website and gaining traffic takes time. Follow the training and ask lots of questions. The community here at WA is responsive and plentiful. It is likely that your first site won't be the one you have big success with. Stay the course and keep trying. "The journey of 1000 miles begins with the first step". Best of luck to you!

Hi SusanFlowers,

I have just started the training and also a bit hesitant that I can build a decent website that people want to visit. I have dyslexia and my grammar sometimes suffers and need feed back.
However, I am passionate about some subjects which can have many different niches under them.
I struggle at this moment in time on which niche I should choose.
Also, I trust there has to be someone in this community who had been where we are, and can give the right type of help and encouragement we need.
I just want to say hang in there, don't lose hope and tell yourself you can do it, whenever, you have doubting thoughts. Share often your struggles here. I know I will make great effort to share what I have difficulty in. All the best!

It's fun to actually see some examples of true affiliate websites, how they can work and while 1 sale may be only 6% or $3 that it can add up if you have a good niche and have build an authoritative website that gives good information for what your customer is looking for.

Yeah, there is the possibilities that you could sell 100's of such products per day; And there are many products that pay much better commissions as well, and many that will pay high %. Some products will average $30-50 per sale, some much higher.

This is the case in any niche.

Awesome and very easy to understand summary - so much clearer to me than before. Will we also be working on optimizing sites so that we can get higher ranks in Google? Also, will the sites we build be primarily to sell items (such as the snack helmet) or will the sites also contain information about a topic like many of the blogs I have seen? I am interesting in gardening and DIY home improvements, but don't know if there would be a niche there for sales vs. just people looking for information on how to DIY. Would I need to narrow it a bit?

Yes, Keywords and SEO are all part of the training. It is your choice as to what kind of site you want to have. Those are great niches, but both of them can be narrowed down some. Just think about what it is you want to help people do with either of these niches.
You want to help people that ________. Once you fill in the blank that should help give you a better idea of what direction you want to go in.

As another member has mentioned, probably the most important part of the training here is optimizing your site and content targeting low competition keywords, which again is all covered.

Your site can be both but the main focus will be on creating content that helps visitors with their problems. On those pages you should be recommending products, but you can also have a page of your website that's similar to a store front with links to all the products you recommend.

Hope this helps,

Brok

Good summary of how the process works. My question would be, while creating a useful, comprehensive website with lots of links to products, let's say we come across a website with a great tutorial or review for some of the products you are hoping to promote. What would the process be in gaining permission from the other website to link them to yours?
Reply

The best option is to contact the site owner. It's quite a challenging task especially when the other site has too high authority unless they see your website worth to be linking to them. Another way is to see if the site offers guest blog. Forum is another great avenue for link building.

But if what you want to do is just creating link on your site that referencing the other site, you can just link it without their permission but the link juice will benefit more to the other site.

My opinion.

That's all very clear, Kyle, and thank you very much for that.

Many of the Gurus out there are questioning why anyone should need a website these days in order to entice people into spending money on any number of shortcuts, whatever.

This has been a huge distraction to me and I'm now starting to switch my focus back to websites which is where I was about 4 months ago!

I'm therefore most grateful to have found Wealthy Affiliate :)

Will

The process seems to be doable for a non salesperson like me. I did notice that my biggest problem is to not think ahead. When I saw the bodybuilding supplement review site, I was like “who reviewed and rated all those items”? That looks like it’ll take forever to do one site!

But I stopped myself from overthinking and reminded myself that there are many more lessons to come, and I’ll learn about those details when it’s time. Correct?

Yes, you will learn a lot more. In fact, you will continue to learn for the lifetime of your business, I have been at this 16 years full time and I still learn something new each and every day!

Diane, I tend to overthink too and like to believe that overthinking is a sign of intelligence and creativity. However, it essential to take the training here one step at a time. As Kyle likes to remind us, success is a cumulative process. Each task builds on the completion of a previous task.

I have been in sales for years (services), in a capacity where I managed my own marketing. I really love the way you simplified the process, people really do over-complicate it.

On another note, I have attempted to do affiliate marketing in the past - one-on-one relationships with two different companies. I'm pretty sure they got sales off of me, but I never got paid. How does this system avoid that unfortunate event?

Hey Mona,

If I ever felt that a company did that to me (and I'm sure those types are out there, but few and far between I'm sure... as they would be outed really quickly) then I would never deal with them again. Simple as that.

There are far too many honest vendors available to worry about the one (or two) whose products/services won't last in the marketplace for very long from shady business practices.

PrettyLinks offers us a great way to monitor click through rates, no they could even be bouncing as soon as they arrive at the product pages... not sure how you could monitor that.

Some vendors like Clickbank offer tracking from within your account with them so that you can monitor your clicks and purchases.

Hope this helps you

I didn't do anything elaborate, like adding them to a website. It was several years ago, and I think I had the links in my business email, and on some profiles I had around - which did get a decent bit of traffic back in the day.

So what I hear from you is that 1. power in numbers and 2. some tracking keeps everyone honest. I can live with that. :)

Thank you for your response.

You're welcome Mona.

Just like there are dishonest vendors, I think you would be shocked to learn how many shady affiliate marketers are out there. Think their numbers are waaay higher.

Being dishonest... well, in today's world it's not long before dishonest people (no matter who they are) get outed by someone sooner or later.

I was wondering. using the example of the football snack dish. would it be wise to promote it on more that one platform? Like WA and Bing, Or would I have to be an affiliate on Bing, Amazon etc. just like I am on WA. In references to a brick and mortar store. I would want my product in more than just one store. Or is the idea to get rank high on Google so that it will show all my different platform?

Basically you need to create content with certain targeted keyword that get indexed and ranked by Search Engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing).

WA is where you learn all the techniques how that content you wrote get notice by these Search Engine. How to get people come to your site and read your content.

You only need to be an affiliate with companies that offer affiliation program like Amazon, CJ, Ebay, etc.

Don't worry - all these terms and terminology will become common to you once you are learn more about online business. And you are the best place and platform to learn all those things.

All the best to you.

Joe.

Thank you Joe for answering my question. I'm sure things will seem more clear the further along I get into my training. I think part of my problem is that I always try to see the big picture right away. I just get eager about what I get involved in.

Agree great video the football snack helmets site look like an e-store. Customers founded the site through organic search and buy the product from the site since is a micro niche am I right.
Is not a complicated process but we still need to do a lot of research and create a variation for the helmet to gain interest and right please correct me if I am wrong, do share.
